When I try to connect to the website Firefox is saying "Connected to s15.algovid.com" and transferring data, and also something about googleads, etc. that's too quick to read, then back to connecting to kano.is., and in a loop. Then it finally fails over to CNN (where I was when I hit the bookmark for the pool).

No idea why firefox is playing up, but DNS is fine, I run 3 DNS servers with 3 different providers Server is still fuxored and yeah I'm extremely pissed about it coz there's nothing I can do but wait until they resolve it. First time in over 1.5 years it's been this bad ...

Yeah it's back, it was purely a network problem, since the main server has been running fine the whole time. I'm still awaiting a reply from them to explain this shit. But I'm hoping it is all resolved now.

But I'm hoping it is all resolved now. Must be...everything now seems normal (gawd, I hate that word). Working on a pot of French press, which eases the angst. I do know the feeling of "not a damn thing I can do about it but wait..." Have no idea why the thing with my browser, either...ain't gonna burn daylight trying to figure it out. Mine on...

I have my backup at slushs and actually hit a block at about 184.3TH/s during our outage. Some upside to our downside.
Still CKPool is the BEST pool for profitability and transparency!

I was there for that block. Good feeling, but I'm happy to be back.

Have no idea why the thing with my browser, either...ain't gonna burn daylight trying to figure it out. Quite likely a DNS issue, but not with @kano's servers. All that has to happen for you to get hosed up like that is that the DNS server you use get's a bad (possibly intentionally malicious) update and the addresses it provides are bogus. Cheers, - zed

EDIT: Just noticed (as I was scanning for used S9s from bailing miners) AriesIV10 is selling off his farm in WA... in situ. Good price, too. Wish I had $14.5K.

Well, for anyone curious, it appears it was an arp table in some main router/switch/whatever at the data centre that was fuxored. I have a number of VPS in the same place as the main bare metal hardware that is the main server in Vegas, and they were all ok during all this. Though, that's my interpretation of the 'incomplete' reply about what was going on. But, yeah arp tables are something that most people don't even know what they are, let alone work out that there's a problem with them

I had a similar problem with the previous hosting contractor; the tech supervisor I was speaking with didn't know what I was referring to...not the serf in the chair, but the super...and when I mentioned Linux kernel he referred to me, and my intellect, in a rather derogatory gender-related manner (trying to be nice...youz guyz are all damn civil here ). As I've mentioned earlier, they are no longer my contractor. ...and...I agree with VRobb who just posted. Mine on...

But, yeah arp tables are something that most people don't even know what they are, let alone work out that there's a problem with them That's interesting that the VPS were not affected, but the bare metal server was. Sounds almost like it could have been a TOR switch/fex where your bare metal server is, and the error was propagated to their core. Whee, lots of fun. I gave up troubleshooting that stuff about a year ago. This last year with out a portfolio of hardware to manage (a couple of small datacenters for my team) has been interesting. First time in over 20 years without some kind of hardware/lab to manage as part of my job. - zed
