Part time makes no difference to your expected reward ... except of course if you mine half the time you of course will get half the reward mining full time.
Edit: and to the person who's posts I deleted, no, mining anywhere else for BTC will not get you more. No one pays you for "not mining"
... and mining altcoins is a scam so I don't let people post to help scam others here.
I was under the impression of the " last 5 n shares "... or something like that is what screws up the mining efficiency if you don't mine continuiously.... Every day now, I mine 8pm to 8am for a cheaper rate of electricity, i'm pretty certain that when the timer shuts down the system, its not right exactly when the block is found that I was last mining. I mined a portion of that block, but I wasn't mining till it was found. - doesn't the pool have some sort of "pool hopping" deterrent - that effects my mining because in a sense, the pool would think that I'm a pool hopper since I there for a little bit then gone?

You misunderstand (like most people do). Hoppers are not "penalised" more than any other miner. The difference is they can't game the system to earn more than other miners. If you mine half the time, you get half the reward. It's as simple as that. Regardless of whether you do it in one long block or half a day at a time. The only issue is if your hashrate is so low that halving it takes you below the dust threshold (under 1TH).

I'll keep my miners right where they are then.... they are well above that dust threshold.

Regarding 'hopping' I mine 9-14 hours a day depending on when I leave the A6 on extra sometimes, if it's colder, or if I forget to turn it off. I have 9 hrs of 'cheaper' electricity (well not that cheap, but better than some) but keep my A6 mining sometimes outside that 9 hours to heat a little more - which of course I wouldn't do if it was summer here. I don't turn on any of my old miners (other than little USBs for pool testing) coz yes indeed that would be a noticeable loss, but I do run the A6 since it does cover most of my electrical cost at home including the A6 (and currently provides heat) The point being that indeed I don't "expect" to be paid worse because of that. What reward you get will of course not match what you "expect" to get since luck plays a factor in it. Also if you don't mine full time, the luck will be different to the pool, since the pool luck calculations are of course based on all blocks, over all time, without gaps. However ... My BDR since the halving (block 420000) is only 0.00467696 - which means 100% PPS would be 0.00467696 * 12.5 = 0.058462 BTC My mining rewards since the halving are 0.0588882 = 100.7% PPS (and of course that doesn't include any possible future ramp down BTC if I stopped mining now) Edit: BDR (Block Diff Ratio) is the shares weighted, based on what they are worth when they were found. There's no point simply adding up shares, since their value changes every diff change, but my luck report includes doing this calculation to determine how many blocks a person's submitted work should have found - and that can be directly converted to 100% PPS BTC if the block reward is constant (since the halving 12.5 - or before the halving 25)

Looks like bitfinex is going to bail in. Use all user accounts to pay for loss. Like having your bank make a bad investment and having all the depositors pay for it.

Hi, just to let you know, i tried to install your firmware via putty, but then could not get S3 mining again, I followed instructions to then undo the changes and that worked fine so i am back up and mining. At least it seems to have fixed Luci access, for now I will try again 2moro and see if I can spot why it wouldnt let me mine after the upgrade and then report back. On some good news, I have had my first payment sent that wasnt dust, no more dust for me, woohoo. I will soon be mining like a pro and hopefully getting some more blocks put into the pool. Onwards and upwards.

The extra info on the 'miner status' page is nice to see and happy for other enhancements under the hood.

Look at the Hash Rate increase... It looks like Bitmain is finished swapping gear on Iceland. I heard that they made another controller board that is able to operate 6-8 blades in 1 miner..so a 30-40TH miner is possible. We are going to see some serious jump in diff and hash rate.

From the looks of the S9 controller board, it appears you could plug in at least 8 more boards. Of course space would be at a premium with heat also potentially being an issue. Be nice to see some boards added by fall. (If they can get it all functioning well together! BLOCK AND..... LOt's of payouts!

I think we will soon see Bitmain redraw from home miner marked and only for own supply and big farm owners and thats the reason as well they had to make the BMMiner. I know for a fact some serious miners are being tested in Germany at the moment and we are talking 3-4 times as much hash with less power need than the S9. I think thats what Bitmain has seen as well.. Unfortunately Avalon, Bitfury and others are sleeping and will lose this race.

Avalon should be out ... soon Kano, do you have any guesstimates of hash power and pricing range? Thanks! I've never owned an Avalon, but will jump at the chance if speed and price point are favorable for me. Have a great day! Let's get some BLOCKSSSSSSSSSSSS!
