I think a lot of potential ASIC buyers were put off by the long BFL order list, at least I know I was. Hopefully cablepair sees an uptick in orders now.

This is amazing news. Faster and cheaper than bfl.
In all fairness, time will tell what Mh/s per watt will be on the different ASIC devices. True. Assuming the cost of hardware per hash rate will vary by a factor of 2 across the various competition, the power per hash still seems like it will be the arguably as important (if not more). I really woud like to see the specs for this hardware. ||bit If I were to speculate on power consumption based on past offering would be at 60 watt to 80 watt per 54GH/s device.. P.S. Carbon credits anyone?

Damnit. Looks like Tom's web site is down at the moment. Hopefully just a short term thing.

Tom, You came late with your announcement but with your information politic you beat your main competitor. If you are able to do the shipment as planed, I see chances that you are the first one shipping ASICs devices. Seems that I selected the right supplier. I ordered and paid 27GH. Getting twice as much is awesome. Run Tom. Run!

bASIC units will be assembled at the same plant that the ModMiner Quad's are, they will be produced in batches of 30-50 every 5-10 days and shipped out on first come first served basis
Hi Tom, if I were to place a bASIC order now, do you think it will still be shipped with the first batch? Thanks.
yes. I take it sales wern't exactly what you were hoping for? This new development def changes things! Expect a couple of sales from me in the near future. Spend all the profits from your sig to buy bASIC

I was leaning toward the bASIC - have seen cablepair active and helpful around Bitcoin for a while this sealed the deal. order placed thanks Tom Graet

Great work!
Been hoping to get into ASIC mining, but was planning to wait for BFL to resolve its order log.
Ordered 2 *54GH/s.

And 2-3 weeks after the deisgn is completed I will have a handful of production boards made (this takes about 5 days) - with pictures on the web site and these boards will be sent to the developers I mentioned before

Just had to correct it for you This is how to engage the community with good will, and since good hardware deserves and is dependant on good software, appreciating the value the free software developers provide is critical. Well done. Agreed, this open engagement is why I finally pulled the trigger on ordering a bASIC. I'm not a fan of pre-orders but appreciate Tom's openess with the community and it goes a long way towards being comfortable with the project's status.

Tom, please give us at least the power dissipation estimated at ASIC design stage. My guess is that the 54GH/s will consume 150-300 Watt, but this is something I can live with :-)

I wonder if it will be more profitable to order the 27Gh/s model as there will be a longer line for the 54Gh/s one due to existing preorders.

<pure speculation> I suspect they are composed of the same underlying components. Tom indicated earlier it wasn't one chip driving it, there are multiples. As in 27 would be 3x9, and 54 would be 3x18. Therefore if there's a shortage of one, there's a shortage of the other. </pure speculation> M

Are they really going to build and ship all of those orders without building or shipping any of the "lite" model in that time? I suppose it's possible. I wonder how long the order line is by now. If I ordered one today, how many weeks after the first shipment went out would it be until it shipped? I'd love to see an order tracking thread started like exists for a competing asic product. I would start one myself, but I don't want to maintain it...

I just ordered 8 of the 54Gh/s variety. bit-pay has improved a lot since I used them for BFL. I actually got confirmation that I paid!

You should have went for the terahash trifecta, it would have cost you about 10000 less than BFL.
