The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

(namecoin is) the only existing alternative to the ICANN monopoly.

No, there are many, many other ICANN alternatives. They are all useless, just like Namecoin. Why? Because regular people can't access them. It's not reasonable to ask everyone on the entire internet to install plugins if they want to access your domains. Namecoin will never be a serious alternative to DNS.
Namecoin isn't only a DNS alternative, that's just it's most popular usage. It can handle many data types and others can be added, personally I'd like to see it as more of an address book including geodata, postal address, telephone numbers and searchable meta data but it could just as easily be used as a cake recipe database. The qt client is developing fast and there's a lot of potential with integration of additional features (such as a local DNS server).

That's way off topic though, hopefully friedcat will post an update soon but if not then no news is good news I guess.

Well someone translated something in the other thread but no news is good news if it cannot be confirmed
That or this is one elaborate scale spread at misinfo
Really not sure on this one so no news is good news waits on official friedcat but if it is real FAQ was answered and can consider these questions replied to

English translation of slides from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=246253

3.4BTC * 400,000 = 1360,000BTC
> 0.136 billion USD

Q: How much hashing power does Bitfountain plan to deploy within this year?
Friedcat: 800-1000T within this year.

Q: What are the specs of the second batch? When will the mass production begin?
Friedcat: The exact numbers will only be known when the chips are out of fab, currently we only have simulated results. Mass production will be in October the earliest.

Q: What would be the physical address of the offshore company be to registered?
Friedcat: It will be on an island where financial freedom is more possible to achieve.

Q: Do you have plans for future other than mining and selling hardware?
Friedcat: ASICMINER's business is confined within mining and selling mining hardware. We might do some
periphery work, but that won't be too distant.

Q: What kind of investors or business partners are you keeping in touch with?
Friedcat: We currently don't accept external funds, so there is no private investors. The partners we keep in touch with are mostly tech related.

Q: After the batch shipping from Avalon and BFL, how would the manufacturers in Shenzhen compete with them?
Friedcat: Our advantage to manufacture chips at the cost price is invincible.

Q: Are you hiring? What kind of people do you need?
Friedcat: We need people specialized in analog electronics, but we don't put much hope in finding this kind of people within China.

Q: Any plans or strategies that are suitable for the public to know?
Friedcat: We will be focusing more on the area that we have the most advantage in. It depends on whether we have more advantage in chip design or the ability to deployment fast.

Q: Why the hashing power of AM is not stable?
Friedcat: The variance of solo mining itself is relatively huge. And the whole network is being DDOS'ed lately, the 0.8.3 version of the software has fixed some bugs so as to prevent DDOS.

If this is true, 10 BTC/share is not unreasonable. Again, this is unverified information still but once it is confirmed....

Really interesting news about island.
Waiting for huge hashrate drop due to transport blades by ship, or maybe farm will be working on the ship?

Island with solar panels, ocean wave energy, wind energy and huge asic farm will be amazing.

Every share now is worth a lot more, please sell.

Updated version with minor grammatical corrections:
for future -> for the future
to deployment fast -> to deploy fast
more possible to achieve -> more easily to achieve
much hope -> too much hope

Thank you for your tips, aahzmundus and ArcticWolf:)

Pretty sure it's December 2013. This number makes perfect sense for December, while 12 months from now is too far for projections.

Question: When Friedcat says 800-1000 T this year, does he mean by December 2013? Or does he mean in the next 12 months?

I have no idea... but I doubt we will deploy that much.  Previously Asicminer went under the deployment targets... not because we did not have the blades, but because the competition never really... competed.  Deploying too much too soon just makes it harder for us in the long run.  The goal always was 10% of the network, and it has been the norm now for a while to be FAR above that.

I imagine this will mean more hardware sales, which I love, because that is profit NOW instead of having to wait for months of mining.
