If you have the money for some gold, and patience to wait, then yeah, buying gold is a great idea.  Diversification, which is important to me.  1 oz of gold is more than some 98% of Americans own.

Physical gold only.  Hide it well, don't tell any neighbors, etc.

Oh, yeah, it's shiny too.
Hm. I remember trading a bitcoin for an ounce of gold.

See how stupid that sounds? Let us all reflect on this and meditate

Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Cassuscoin thing? They seemed interesting, but were they hacked at this point?

I know that in Iraq the mercenaries were used to bust in doors and do things the US military was not allowed to do because of treaties and such. I think I was close to being hired for one such company but I had to turn down the job because they needed my to quit my job that Friday and start weapons training that Monday. They could not tell me what I would be doing. I told them I needed to give my company 2 weeks notice.
The smart move, and one that *would* concern me is if Trump asks for 10,000 Russian Spetzna "peacekeepers" to monitor the polls and the capitol because you obviously can't trust the US army. That could get very.... interesting.

These guys? Trip on their own dicks. Which is about what you'd expect from this administration.
1044  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 04, 2020, 11:52:56 PM
Oh yeah, the ones who kept on getting beaten up in Iraq and had to be rescued by the military over and over again.

Edit: Oh I see, they'll just be sitting behind all the fencing, walls, and barbed wire, drawing paychecks and striking poses for Trump when he walks by.

I personally would rather see Trump hire 10,000 high end hookers to protect him but then again I'm not the President so I don't get to set priorities.

We will see tonight if the rioters start going up against immobilized fully armed forces who don't give a flying fuck when given the order to shoot on site in D.C tonight.
You sound pretty excited by this. "Fully armed forces"? These dipshits don't even know how to act as a fire support team.

Eh, I doubt this crap has the guts to shoot anyone or will even show up. Best case 10 guys surrounded by 100 police officers.

(Bail is not inherently bad. Think these guys will be able to flee? Doubt it)

1046  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 04, 2020, 11:00:36 PM
Guess who called in the paramilitary into Washington D.C tonight?
https://youtu.be/c5rBXIT3zhk

Be aware they are private so they are like contract mercs so they dont care what laws they break. Angry
Don't we need the anti-hero to go into battle now? Roll Eyes

War has come in 3..2..1
What, the Klan Klowns are coming to town?

Well the results are in and studies show that hydroxchloroquine does *not* prevent Covid19...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/06/03/hydroxychloroquine-clinical-trial-results/

So it has no proactive benefit and can increase your chance of death if you take it when sick. Typical snake oil, please update your axioms.

I wonder if the company who made it will give refunds, including the tens of millions of units sent down to Brazil a week or two ago.

Researchers Retract Botched Anti- Hydroxychloroquine Study Which Was Used To Attack Trump

Fortunately the authors of the study offered you an apology.
"We all entered this collaboration to contribute in good faith and at a time of great need during the Covid-19 pandemic," said the authors. "We deeply apologize to you, the editors, and the journal readership for any embarrassment or inconvenience that this may have caused."
Thanks for posting this. I just saw the retraction, and was planning to update. But that's how science works, when fuckups are detected they acknowledge the error and move on.

What is so damned sad about all of this is the amount of people truly rooting against HCQ as a cure. Like they seriously hope it doesn't save one damned life. It's time for a bit of introspection if you don't want HCQ to cure sick people just to score political points.

I'd never take it. I was given a year's supply when I went to Afghanistan, twice, and I never took it. I am not a drug user so if I catch COVID I would rather fight it without doing drugs. But if it's going to save people that have destroyed their bodies throughout their lives, then that is some great damned news. That is something I would hope to be true.

We will see in 2 weeks if the hotspots for all of these protests see a huge surge in COVID patients. That is the real thing to watch.

Well, it will take about 8 weeks to show up in the death count. Looks like it takes 2 weeks to get sick (while infecting others) then 2 weeks before you get a test, then you die in a month or so. Right now we're seeing infections shoot way up in the South so it looks like the gun toting loonies from last month are starting to show up. They should be dying about the time these protesters (some wearing masks, some not) start a hacking.

#1 reason why I did not go to any protests: Right now protesting is pretty stupid unless you're going for a full blast revolution, which isn't needed at this point.

Meantime 9700ish is not bad. I'd prefer a more relaxed run to 10k and 15k then bursts that then become busts....

Ok, this is funny. Need something like it where a bingo means bitcoin moons....

I like Trump, but dislike the way he's handled this situation, among others. Fuck the police.

You know, the common statement is "power corrupts". But that's not really true.

Power reveals.

It reveals the person you really are. Give someone power and you will see the person they really are inside.

We're just seeing what Trump is really like inside, and has always been. That's all.

Power, reveals.

I'll give the guy credit for admitting error. Doubt they will do the same thing again.

I'd support him. He seems to be a good egg and adds value to discussions while also helping to promote other posters who add value.

Someone wanna merit this for me?

I love Rage bought scenarios. Grin
Done, no problem. It is kind of funny :-)

Hm. Did peace just break out?

On a related note, two friends of mine who have been taking reasonable precautions are now down with C19. Keeps creeping closer. Interesting.

On a more positive note: NECCO WAFERS ARE FUCKING BACK! I have been holding out with an emergency supply, glad they have returned so I can restock reserves....

“When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross,” goes an oft-quoted line of uncertain origin.

On Monday evening, Donald Trump, with four US flags behind him, threatened to send in the military against the American people, then crossed the road to pose for a photo outside a historic church while clutching an upside-down Bible.

He was only able to get there after heavily armed police and horse-mounted national guardsmen fired teargas and rubber bullets to chase away peaceful protesters and journalists.

GL to all the Americans amongst us.
Thank you. I think we'll be ok: The real problem is that once things happen then it takes a long time to forget that they can happen again. Trust once lost is difficult to regain, and .... Maybe this is not a problem, maybe it's what will protect people from letting this happen again.

Sucks, will cost a fair bit of progress but that's the way the big ball bounces.

Could you please advice; what would be a very userfriendly and safe Android app to be used by the less tech savvy
to buy some BTC and keep them in their own wallet on their phone?

Friends and family like to buy a bit of BTC too, but exchanges and alike are way too complicated for them.
They just want to click & buy, have secure local storage and be able to sell, no trading functionalities required.

Does anyone know if these kind of "Mobile BTC Wallet for Dummies" exist or have recommendations?

The official bitcoin wallet seems good. Coinomi likewise does not seem to have fucked me, just make sure to put a basic lock on the phone and have them write down the seed words somewhere. That in my opinion would be reasonable security for say up to 10k in coin.

Once you get beyond that there are better options. But that would be a good low risk start for low amounts.
1058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 02, 2020, 04:08:26 AM
Right. Like the peaceful, non-violent protesters who burned the church down.
Also, Source: Washington Post. That might as well have been a DNC press release.

No, that was last night. Note the lack of sun, which happens when it's night.

This was today, different time, and different people. Can you cite any damage being done today at that place at that time by the protesters there this evening?

Should we tear gas and shoot peaceful protesters?
1059  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 02, 2020, 03:27:23 AM
Peaceful non-violent protest, respect for your city, and respect for your fellow man (no matter what race or class) is the only way to go on this. Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.
I think the President just ordered the gassing of peaceful non-violent protesters 2 blocks from the White House so he could go and stand in front of a church with a bible.

Quote
In a massive show of force, federal law enforcement officers fired rubber bullets and tear gas at peaceful protesters outside the White House on Monday evening as President Trump appeared in the Rose Garden to announce the mobilization of “thousands and thousands of heavily armed soldiers” to quell “lawlessness” across the country.

Hundreds of protesters were pushed away from Lafayette Square, where they were protesting the killing of George Floyd, by the National Guard, U.S. Park Police and Secret Service. The ambush began half an hour before the city’s newly imposed curfew of 7 p.m. went into effect. When the crowds were cleared, the president walked through the park to visit the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church, which had been set on fire Sunday.

Hm. Interesting.

Meantime it does look like Bitcoin is doing well in a complex environment. Interesting.
