1081  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crime funded by bitcoin on: June 07, 2017, 11:09:29 PM
A crime could also be funded by regular money... And if bitcoin is disabled, why not make a new currency which only criminals use?
Here is the twist here, there is a coin for criminals too  Cheesy, hope you have heard about concoin ,they are dubbed as the most dangerous cryptocurrency in the world as it is a digital Currency for Prison inmates it seems  Grin i am not sure how true those things are and how they are going to work, either way it is an interesting concept. Wink i would care less if crimes are funded by bitcoin concoin or fiat,if the legal system is strong the criminals will be caught no matter what method they use.

ROFL how is this supposed to work? Do they tattoo transactions on each other, or use cigarettes?

But now that I think about it, seriously, how the hell is this supposed to work?  Huh They don't have phones, if they did, they could just have bitcoin.  Like, it's illegal for them to have phones/ computer access, if they use a proxy to enter transactions then again, might as well use bitcoin..

Ah! Concoin is soap on a rope! Wink
1082  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the weakness or lack of bitcoin essence on: June 07, 2017, 11:05:25 PM
Is there a way out to deal with this old bitcoin transaction, to wait for 1 confirmation can sometimes wait for hours, sometimes even all day

Is there a solution?

Increase your fees for the time being. If you are coming off of an exchange, the fees are usually dynamic and you should be fine. But if you are coming out of a client wallet, set the fee setting up to max, especially if you use the network at a peak time (the middle of the day). If you want to send something cheap, send it in the middle of the night, less congestion means more chances to get included in a block faster. This is how everyone can help the congestion issue; it wouldn't be such a deal if the transactions didn't congregate.
1083  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex Trollbox Invitation on: June 07, 2017, 10:58:07 PM
What happened here? What was the official line on why they closed it?
The only official line would be they will once again start the troll box once everything is settled for good, they are having issues with the site for the past one month and all the deposits and withdrawals are getting delayed and they are getting a huge volume of complaints on a daily basis and people are trolling their anger and frustrations in the troll box which made them hard to deal everything and so they might have thought about taking it down for the moment. Cheesy they have bigger issues than the troll box and they really need to increase their infrastructure to accommodate the amount of traffic they are getting.

Ahh, thanks for that, I suspected as much, it was really hectic and I couldn't get a response to a common inquiry (and everyone was too onery to answer me out of hand). I didnt stick around too long, figured they'd get to me eventually (it provisioned days before they touched the ticket). Was unusual for them, abysmal customer service. Banhammer was swinging as well, but that's all the time Wink

I see they bit off a little bit more than they could chew with the box; I'm honestly surprised it lasted as long as it did. It was a nightmare a CEX Wink

LOL, I think they understand why it's called a trollbox now Wink
1084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saving bitcoins on: June 07, 2017, 10:52:25 PM
By storing bitcoins in a bank, you're really destroying the whole purpose of bitcoins. Suddenly the bank has full control over all the bitcoins you have. There are very few banks that supports bitcoin. I only know about one, which is a bank in Norway. Currently this bank simply connects to coinbase and uses that to buy/sell and store bitcoins. I don't know wether this bank has control of the bitcoins stored here.

Unless the account is going to yield interest, there is little incentive to store bitcoin with someone else, the security risk unless they offer insurance isn't worth it. It kind of defeats the basic purpose of storing bitcoin, which is that it rewards you for holding (its deflationary), and you don't have to pay a bank a service fee for that feature. ' It is a defect of fiat that it disappears slowly over time.' Thus, it's logical to have more motivation to save bitcoin than fiat.
1085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [BREAKING NEWS]: Bitcoin on Front Page of Wall Street Journal on: June 07, 2017, 10:43:54 PM
Sort of.

"A broad swath of asset prices has surged in recent weeks, extending a strong 2017 for stocks, bonds, gold and bitcoin".

I would call this maturity.  If there was a big front page about Bitcoin I'd actually be worried, because it implies that there's a bubble going on as there would be too much hype and temporary exposure which could be prone to a crash.

When something like this happens it suggests a slow mainstream acceptance as cryptocurrencies continue to soar.

Yezzir. While I'm always happy to see btc getting positive press, I really hope we don't get another investment boom that results in a collapse, like every other time bitcoin makes the news. It's like a signal for the whales to take massive profit and initiate a bear market. I can't believe the charts I have been looking at lately are sustainable. Major exposure at a time like this, might not actually be 100% good news Sad

Let's pray the price keeps going north people, but plan accordingly.
1086  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex Trollbox Invitation on: June 07, 2017, 10:39:48 PM
I am really very very happy that damn trollbox has been closed. I know some people who use trollbox to buy a coin. I don't understand why some people follow this box to buy a coin? This is bullshit. How you can trust someone you don't know. Just chit chat and wasting time nothing more.

Holy shit, they closed the trollbox down?!

I had a ticket that pended foreeeever when the withdrawals last stuck, I saw that the trollbox was alight with complaints but I didn't think anything of it. Users always get iraye when the wallets start acting up; its a fact if life. I'm assuming the user complaints must have gotten to be too much? The box has been a fud fest since it's inception; I can't see them shutting it down for liability reasons, or to stem speculation. I wonder if they will still keep hiring supports every few months anymore Wink

What happened here? What was the official line on why they closed it?
1087  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bible describes Americans by the term 'Serpent' on: June 07, 2017, 07:36:43 PM
In the book of genesis their is described a serpent that is able to speak.  This is an accurate depiction of Americans, especially concerning the government.  Note that the term 'Serpent' is used, not serpent-brained human or evil human.  I believe this is done specifically to highlight that these serpent or reptile brained creatures that walk among us have very little humanity in them, if any.  They can mimic our behavior, they look like us, but they are not the same.  They feed off of human suffering, they enjoy the pain and torment of others, they seem to get an effective 'high' off of it.   These Serpents seem to make up the majority of the populance at this time, and certainly the government. Can be seen as something similar to what appears in psychology manuscript as the psychopath or sociopath.

Let's explore Wink

Your generalization of the serpent symbol used in the Old Testament, specifically Genesis, is too broad. Old Testament snakes and dragons pretty much always refer to Satan, ESP if it speaks or us supernatural. It is also a symbol of wisdom (Satan's domain Wink ).  Snakes or various types mean various things for different authors (note 'amongst vipers' vs 'bronze serpent, one indicates peril, on is an old name for a staff shaped amulet)

Now, if you want to spew some REAL rhetoric about America, you might want to look at Revelations.
Chapter 13, which addresses the fall of the 7 headed beast, could be talking about the papacy. In that case, prophesy would allow America is the 'beast with two horns that spake like a dragon'  (Rev 13:11).

There you go, and welcome to the Politics section. I have a feeling you are going to fit in just fine here Wink
1088  Other / Politics & Society / Re: You sit idly by while American patriots are tortured and killed on: June 07, 2017, 07:19:17 PM
How many of you sit idly by while american , patriots, men , women, and children are tortured and killed by the hands of serpents, all the while they commit more evil to cover it up.  As they take away more and more of our rights.

Fuck it, I'll bite.

Huh? Trying to follow you, in your other thread you identified Americans as serpents, which is hilarious by the way, but in this thread you have stated that American patriot are being killed by serpents, meaning other Americans? Please clarify, and thank you in advance Wink
1089  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello. New here. on: June 07, 2017, 03:56:45 PM
So I got ito BTC around jan 2012.

I unfortunately lost all my coins in a HDD failure.

I then got into altcoins and ran with that for a year. I stopped it all together and completely forgot about coins until this resurgence.
Is this a continued rally for behind the scenes works soon to be unveiled?

This, will end eventually. Not sure how long this charging bull market will continue on, we just tested 3k and we are hovering, if we continue to advance expect 4k, some retraction, then 5k.

And yes, politics and technology might up end the price, research the scaling debate (alot has happened depending on how long you have been gone)

And welcome back Wink
1090  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin credit card? on: June 07, 2017, 02:46:56 PM
I remember hearing something about a bitcoin credit card. Like, one that you pay for everything with fiat on credit, and then you pay off your bill in bitcoin. So you never have to hold fiat if you don't want to.

What's the best/most reliable credit card that does this?

I haven't seen a card like this, and I don't think many payment remitters would be willing to offer a product like this. It's too easy to simply get a credit line on a regular credit card, which will most likely have a higher limit, and pay the bill after the fact in bitcoin. You could even use a bitcoin debit card to pay the bitcoin credit bill, if you didn't have a way to convert the btc.to fiat.

A credit card that you can pay off in btc doesn't really have any advantages over a regular credit card, they would be the same instrument.
1091  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump again caught in a scandalous history. on: June 07, 2017, 02:26:01 PM
People should rather be criticizing The Mayor's response rather than Donald Trumps response, how can you tell people not to be alarmed after this, or is it normal for Muslims to behave like this, I really want to know.

The mayor as usual, was trying to divert the attention from his failures during the terrorist attack. That was why he chose to attack Trump. Someone please tell him that this is not the ideal time to play political games. How can you justify someone in the terror watch-list conducting an armed attack, and that too with his companions?

Sadiq Khan is muslim of pakistani background, so when he says that Trump "doesnt defend out values", he is completely correct. Trump is not sunni muslim.

Trump again caught in a scandalous history. He criticized in his Twitter the mayor of London because he said that the number of police officers on the streets increased and tourists threatens nothing. European leaders diplomatically expressed dissatisfaction with the statement Trump, and former British Ambassador even said that he was sick from Trump.

Are even an American? Why do you think Pakistani muslim mayor of London should be allowed to tell president of United States where and when can he go?

Are you going to apologize to Pakistanis and Al-Quada supporters too, you cuck?

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jun/05/donald-trump-attack-courts-travel-ban-london

Fuck Khan, if he was doing his job as mayor, London wouldnt be be closer to 28 days later movie by the day.

I love it when y'all say cuck!

But anyway, I do believe the mayor of a city in a separate, sovereign state should be able to dictate which foreign dignitaries can enter their territory. Imagine if Assad wanted to come to some small town to make a speech, and the mayor didn't support his regime and protested. I don't have a problem with that, essentially, we have to respect their sovereignty. At the very least, he should be able to suggest to the governing body/state his opinions. Failure to do so would be quite undemocratic.

Would he be responsible for municipal allocation of terror resources, or would this be a state level responsibility? That's a serious question, I don't know, actually.
1092  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Retarded propaganda against Russian and the alternative media is unjustifiable! on: June 07, 2017, 02:16:29 PM
You will find that I have been the biggest regular on this subforum, and also the most rational. @Okurka: I don't owe 'society' shit. The wealth that makes the country "great" has all been stolen through a series of racist laws.

I think we have to keep with common sense!

It's really, the big difference is between BTC TALK and FOX NEWS, BBC ,Al qaeda  etc

If you read the Politics forum here long enough, you will find there really isn't that much difference between BTCtalk and Fox, LOL. This shit gets positively 'StormFront'-rsque at times with the conspiracy theories, the faux Russian nationalism, and the Trump worship. This site can flop from CrooksandLiars liberal to Breitbart conservative on a good day, it's a clusterfuck here. But usually, predominantly conservative. Bitcoin demographic and such.

I take that back. Trump isn't a fan favorite across the whole of StormFront; seems his approval rating has slipped a bit after the Saudi deal.

LOL, when Neo Nazis don't like you, what the fuck is going on?

Don't use the word 'Neo Nazi" if you do not know what it means.

This post is not promoting Russian nationalism, but rather, rational non-interventionism. Anti-government is not pro-Russian. Pro-Russian is the new "Conspiracy theorist"

See above post concerning my usage of neonazi. I'm not insinuating that Pro Russian ideologies are bad, I'm pointing out the lack of genuineness its recent adoption by certain parties (The GOP and the Anti Hillary/Soros Conspiracy camp). They were non issues before they became talking points in defense of the current administration. I'd prefer to see them go back to the way they were. I am not a Russaphobe, it a beautiful culture, seemingly cool people, and I like cold weather. More have a problem with thr But, it's clear a historic event has happened with the interference; Russia gets my respect for pulling this off, and I mean that sincerely. This took smarts, this took guts. But I can't condone a country that just attempted to sway my democracy, even if they didn't succeed. The attempt was enough, the insult has already been engendered.

LOL, when Neo Nazis don't like you, what the fuck is going on?

Those are some cheap shots from you right there.

Reading something, that you dont like is inherently tied to the freedom of speech. If you have problem with that (even comparing many of fellow bitcoiners to neonazis) there are "better", more censored options for you. Like Facebook or Twitter.

And by the way, it is not difficult to get hated by neonazis (the real ones, that you probadly never met). They are just as irrational and full of hatred as Antifa thugs.

I didn't see this earlier, I would have responded ASAP
I will concede to you, those were cheap shots in retrospect. I do apologize sir. I take a certain zeal in rejecting the truly harmful/irrational ideologies here, but it is close minded for me to reject an entire school of though because I don't agree with some of its parts. All things have a truth to them, even opposites.

Some of those critiques would stand, but that rhetoric was unkind

And I have never met a Neo Nazi in conversational distance, I have only observed what I suspect was a group of Neo Nazi youths, and only once. I will concede that as well. But, I am extremely versed in the ideological school, its contemporary manifestation at least and not all of the historical precedent that shapes it.

So my bad. Smiley

And fuck AntiFa's crazy ass. Black or White, Liberal or Conservative, if I get hit with a bottle of someone's piss, someone will have to die. Wink
1094  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump again caught in a scandalous history. on: June 07, 2017, 12:05:14 PM
I thought this was serious news, not twitter comments. It just attracts attention to his person, but for the scandal it's ridiculous.

But the White House said that Trump's tweets are official government pronouncements, and thus, subject to the Presidential Records Act.

http://deadline.com/2017/06/sean-spicer-donald-trump-tweets-official-statements-by-president-live-tweet-comey-testimony-senate-intel-committee-white-house-press-briefing-1202108447/

President Donald Trump’s tweets “are considered official statements by the President of the United States,” because “the president is the President of the United States,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer explained patiently at Tuesday’s briefing. This after reporters asked him straight up if Trump’s tweets should be regarded as official White House statements.

One day later, Spicer boasted Trump’s commanding use of social media helped gain him the White House and that Trump now claims a collective total of close to 100M people across different social platforms.

So we should ignore 'official statements by the President of the United States'? I mean, he is the POTUS. Surely an official statement by the POTUS is 'serious news'? Wink

I love it here, dammit.
1095  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump again caught in a scandalous history. on: June 07, 2017, 11:10:59 AM
What is the scandal in his twitter comments,do you call that a scandal or just foolish feeds from the president. He just keeps up with his impulsive nature and keeps on coming up with foolish comments and i wonder he might regret all of this at a later time, for a leader like him he has to think twice before writing down something,he is just proving that his upstairs is vacant and anyone could become a president. Grin

Hehe, I think that's what some of the apologists are failing to see. The event in itself was just a tweet, everyone needs to man the fuck up, but diplomacy was shattered, that what the OP was trying to communicate in not so much English,LOL. Personally myself and a lot of Americans could give a flying fuck about this, but what we aren't aware of is how much this pissed London off, because they aren't our news cycle. The POTUS does not make a disparaging comment about another leader during an active crisis with international coverage. Imagine  if Bush had been criticized by the French president for reading a book to a class while the first towers were struck.

The mayor said that pretty plainly too, his statement wasn't ambiguous one bit. Don't be alarmed at the increased police presence. It takes a special one like 45 to misread the tone, respond at the wrong time, and then double down on said misinterpretation instead of apologizing.

This is covfefe, essentially. And I actually mean that seriously, not as a joke. It's the same attitude that gave us covfefe, at least. The reluctance to admit a mistake, a complete lack of diplomacy. Political correctness might be a toss up nowadays, but diplomacy should never be.

Also, shit like this simply looks bad. That's shit people's mothers should have taught them, there is no substitute for home training LOL.

“When you have a special relationship it is no different from when you have got a close mate. You stand with them in times of adversity but you call them out when they are wrong. There are many things about which Donald Trump is wrong.”

Trump’s tirade also appeared to act as a rebuke to the acting US ambassador to Britain, Lewis Lukens, who had put out a thread of tweets, culminating in a retweet of Khan’s statement.

“I commend the strong leadership of the mayor of London as he leads the city forward after this heinous attack,” the acting ambassador said.

In more normal times, such a message of solidarity with a host mayor in an allied state would be unremarkable, but it unleashed a torrent of online abuse from Trump’s supporters, accusing Lukens of disloyalty. Some focused on the fact that the acting ambassador was offering support for a foreign official who is Muslim, rather than echoing the president.

Take heed. This 'America First ' shit is going to have us at 'America Going It's Own Way'. The world is watching us hard right now, folks.

Edit: had to fix, I fucked the formatting up bigly on this one
1096  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Diplomatic Crisis in Qatar on: June 07, 2017, 10:43:33 AM
i was read the news that the cause why arabian countries decide to Sever diplomatic relations because they thought Qatar was support for several terroris attack in Arab and after this incident Qatar people starting to panic and Invaded the supermarket to buy Daily necessities and store them because they had worry Qatar would not get supply from outside their country

Serious question, has your local/regional/national news reported on anything like Russian interference in this matter, specifically, that a Russian fake news story was the cause for all this?

http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/336638-us-suspects-russia-planted-fake-news-in-qatar-report

U.S. officials believe that Russian hackers planted a fake news story in Qatar's state news agency, contributing to tensions among key U.S. allies in the Gulf, CNN reported Tuesday, citing U.S. officials.

The FBI sent investigators to Doha recently to aid the Qatari government in probing the reported incident, officials told CNN.

U.S. officials said that intelligence indicated Russian hackers were behind the intrusion that Qatar's government reported two weeks ago, according to the network.

This is still kinda breaking news (everything takes foooorever nowadays with the current state of the news cycle), and I can't get enough consensus on this in my research to form a valid opinion.

Is this being discussed in your news, and how, if you care to elaborate? Thank you in advance for your time.
1097  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How Not To Get Stabbed (Domestic Terror) on: June 07, 2017, 10:21:34 AM
I'm sorry, since when is self-proclaimed nationalist socialist Jeremy Joseph Christian an "alt-right adherent"?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Can4b5XRkxI

As convicted felon, couldn't LEGALLY vote for anyone, but claimed on his Facebook that he didn't vote for Trump but supported Sanders*/Stein.

Whether he actually wrote in Sanders*/Stein on an illegally-issued ballot is up to nobody to investigate, b/c "election fraud is fake news!"

*a nationalist socialist

That's kind of the point. In all the anti Islam threads, there is a rush to generalization, the assumption that because individual adherents are part of a whole, that they are representative of the whole. For example, one of my favorite asshats on here went and made a protest thread rather than actually discuss the issue without denigrating into 'alulalu jihad'. It's like, why is it when one crazy motherfucker does some crazy shit, the group he belongs to denounces it, and he's a lone actor. But in the other case, despite how much his group denounces him, it will always be the groups fault.  That double standard in thinking is either borne of racism, fear, ignorance or a combination there of.

Mass attribution from a lone actor is like me telling you that you are crooked because you used to run a pawn shop (I remember the threads Wink ), and I've watched too many episodes of 'Pawn Stars'.

He arrived at an April 29 "free speech" march in Southeast Portland wearing a Revolutionary War flag as a cape. He carried a baseball bat. He threw Nazi salutes and shouted racial slurs in a Burger King parking lot. Twice, left-wing demonstrators grew so infuriated with his antics that Portland police officers formed a barrier to shield him.

The "alt-right" marchers even debated what to do about him. Some of them, leather-clad bikers, told him to shut up and tried to kick him out of the rally. Others seemed fine with him expressing himself: Unpopular speech was the point of the event.

On May 26, nearly a month later, Christian's hateful words allegedly turned into action.

He stands accused of murdering two men and wounding another who intervened as he harassed two teenage girls with an anti-Muslim screed on a Portland MAX train. Multiple witness accounts say he cut the throats of three men who confronted him.

Mayor Ted Wheeler has since asked for federal assistance to keep right-wing agitators from holding events scheduled in Portland. The leaders of local and national extremist groups known as the "alt-right" spent the weekend frantically trying to distance themselves from Christian, even as they refused to cancel a June 4 rally set for Terry Schrunk Plaza downtown.

No one claims him, yet he claims affiliation. So he is defined by his self affiliation. If he were a radical Islamist, he would be Muslim  because he said so, not because the Muslim plurality gave him that designation.

I want to be rich. Am I rich now?

Of course not. Just like this guy is clearly fucking insane. But why give this terrorist a pass for being a crazy head? And, why not attribute his actions to the alt right, his self affiliation?

Because that's just as fucking retarded as attributing the actions of a numbfuck terrorist in a turban to his whole religion.

Now, where this differs is another point of conversation. Hate groups like the violent alt right groups (now that we are having a serious discussion, I will plainly say all alt right isn't bad, it's an ideology like everything else.) get to operate under the guise of 'free speech'.

Imagine if a non violent group of ISIS apologists had a protest rally in Portland. I myself would travel out there to kick into some ass. We tolerate the one expression of free speech and decry the other. None of this shit should have quarter; in my opinion, that alt right extreme racism shit is just as odious as the ISIS fuck Westerners shit. Hate speech shouldnt have a platform, at least publically. It is the vehicle for radicalization..

But the truth of the matter is, statistically, if you are worried about terrorism and you are American, you have a way higher statistical chance of something like this happening to you. So I'm saying a lot of the anti Islam rhetoric is just a vehicle for people to spew racist shit. Because a real discussion on terror would include these topics, if it were comprehensive.
1098  Economy / Speculation / Re: What could cause price of bitcoin to crash?? on: June 07, 2017, 03:14:13 AM
So in past bubbles it was:
1. collapse of biggest exchange Mt GoX.
2. "Bans of bitcoin in China"
3. ...

What could happen now to cause price crash? I mean, exchanges are so mature now and there are a lot of them, that failure of one exchange wouldn't cause big price drop.
What do you think can cause price of bitcoin to crash?

A serious price correction after the Japan craze dies down as a result of profit taking. This is indeed a bubble, if the price goes really South, like China, Japan may issue financial guidance to its citizens, or enact regulations. That will solidify the bear market for a while, we would see a serious regression, then new highs.
1099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can governments find a way to tax Bitcoin? on: June 07, 2017, 03:06:06 AM
@GreenBits   So basically they can only tax it once the bitcoins are sold for fiat? There's no way for them to tax it if the bitcoins are mined or if the payments made in btc.

You are right, but you would be tax evading if you failed to report the capital gain that would be mining bitcoin, or acquiring bitcoin through trade. The literal definition of a 'capital gain'. Not worth it in my opinion. And seeing how they are trying to audit Coinbase for this very reason, I don't see it a stretch that they would eventually figure out they could audit pools as well. And unless you have a cash buyer for a living Income's worth of bitcoin, you are going to need to see an exchange that will require AML/KYC. That will be associated to your identity, and reported to the IRS as a matter of law.

You really can't avoid it. And if you do, it's obvious, and they don't look kindly on it.
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop Calling It A Bubble. on: June 07, 2017, 02:54:32 AM
It's not a bubble especially if some institutional investors decided to join the party, people think the rapid expansion of bitcoin and it's price value soaring up like a bull is a buble cause all of these years they've experienced the price of bitcoin soaring then all of a sudden went down can't really blame them if they think it that way but bitcoin has been innovating, expanding and gaining may supports we've just couldn't see it because we've been busy with the bitcoin scaling debate that we haven't realized that bitcoin has already matured from volatility. I guess the one's spreading the news that it's going to be a bubble is altcoin or gold investors.

It will be a bubble ESPECIALLY if institutional investors join the party. The growth of late has been simply unsustainable. If we got interest from an additional source beyond Japan and the subsequent FOMO buyers and newbies, we would go to 3500, then 1700. And Forbes would talk smack about bitcoin for at least 8 months.
