1161  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pentagon to Allow Calculators in Military Entrance Exam to Tackle Shortage on: August 24, 2023, 07:25:14 PM
This is not just an American problem because the academic standard is lowering in many countries. This might be attributed to more attention to social media, computer games, and other social activities by the youths. Most examinations like the SAT and ACT examinations allow the use of calculators because of the poor performance of students. The military is supposed to be made up of the best students with the ability to solve diverse mathematical problems without aid because they work in very uncomfortable conditions. They are expected to possess fast problem-solving skills which is why they need to be tested without a mathematical aid. If the shortage of military personnel persists we might be forced to remove any form of intellectual examination.
Computer games have been there for ages already so that's hardly the reason. I don't think there are studies supporting that theory and surely there already would be. I personally can't see them affecting to scores, in fact quite the opposite. People from my generation who played ended up coding and working in IT and some of them in field of mathematics and have PHDs.

One person that i know wouldn't stop playing if it would be up to him, and he is genius when it comes to mathematics. He doesn't use social media though.

1162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: August 23, 2023, 08:51:32 PM

I'm on my way to quit smoking as well but it's just not making me stop when I see no one is at home. I still sneak out to the store and hide a pack inside my drawer. It's hard when I still enjoys doing it. But I can stop whenever I have flu and coughing. That's the difference.

What a gambler needs to be able to quit instantly is an unexpected event that will make him stop for a long time and when he is able to resume he will lose his interest and example I think is going to prison  Grin

It's very hard to quit the smoking after the addiction from it.Because you may have the cyclic habit of smoking, then how the possibility of quit the smoking.Once the smoker get the cough he will try to quit the smoking for certain period of time. But the same will be changed and the smoker will start to smoke again.

Gambling also work in the same way, because you can quit the gambling for certain period of time. When new gambling sites with more bonus and feature come, you will automatically join the gambling site and play the game. This was the repeated act of the gamblers from the old times.
But basically it has same triggers as any other addiction so you can use same methods to quit. Visualising the outcome, remembering the consiquences of spending money. And doing other, and filling your life with healthy activities that you can do when you feel the need to smoke/gamble. I have an unique trick that made me quit smoking, but i don't think that applies for anyone but me. It's just the fact that i hate the need for doing something i don't really want to do. So it starts by waiting until you don't really want to do the thing you are addicted to. I couldn't have stopped if i had a tiny bit of doubt on what i want.

Then i just focus on that and reward for myself the time and money that i have saved because of quitting.
1163  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much ,as you think ,is 1 bitcoin in 2025? on: August 23, 2023, 08:45:52 PM
I guess everyone is looking for minimum $100k in 2025, near around that price or even higher. And that is because will be having our bitcoin halving, and we all know that once is supply is thinning, there will be more demand, hence prices are going to be high.

Now, it's not the question on what will be the price of 1 BTC = xxx,xxx amount in dollar. It's the question if everyone is ready already or have at least accumulated so much right now that they are ready in the next halving and for the new all time high in 2025.
It would be fun to see some legit poll on this, because right now i see more posts in social media who are doubting 100k and actually very bearish. Which ironically is a bullish sentiment for me.
There has been lots of big companies liquidating their assets, starting from musk's companies. And i doubt those were OTC deals but directly dumped to buy walls.

Also the amount of donated bitcoins has been slowly piling up and those are all sell pressure. For example Finland donated 1,981 bitcoins seized by government to ukraine. I am sure many others donated lot too.
I would assume that worst of the dumping is done as we are staying on these price levels.
1164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik Buterin Fuels Coinbase with $1M ETH! on: August 23, 2023, 08:32:06 PM
It's been said that Buterin has been depositing and selling his ETH for quite a time now. In this year only, he deposited over 3.6 million USD on different exchanges and cashed out. The current 1 million puts it to 4.6 million.
And why shouldn't he. I totally would cash something out all the time at the point he is. And while i am not sure if he cares about the price, he is smart enought to sell at the right time. So he must see a possibility that this price is far from a bottom.

He has been donating a lot so this could be another attempt at charity.
But with the pace on which he's emptying his wallet, we can also predict he has lower confidence on ETH and maybe the market as a whole.
But if it would be charity, why would he need to deposit it to coinbase? There are many charity organisations that take cryptocurrencies. And then there's the fact that even if this is charity, it still is going to be changed to fiat money at some point and it creates some sell pressure.
1165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Layer 1 Projects speculation on: August 23, 2023, 08:18:45 PM
Do you know about any other layer 1 projects?
-cut-
I am not sure if you are serious or not but in case you were, starting from the top:

Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Cardano, Solana, Polkadot ,Toncoin, Avalanchem Cosmos Hub, Hedera, Kaspa, Algorand, MultiversX, Tezos, Flow and there are ton of obscure ones that will never make it. In fact All the announcements in altcoin announcements, are supposed to be L1. And they used to be, but these days people don't know the difference of coins and tokens so they get mixed up.

But if you are focusing on testnets, that explains why your list has unfamiliar names. I am still browsing your list, it has some interesting projects so thanks for it. It would have been nearly impossible me to find them on my own, before any of those gained momentum.
1166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The NFT hype makes Opensea rich on: August 23, 2023, 07:59:23 PM

"Last year we added several chains, including BNB Smart Chain (BSC), after seeing excitement from the wider NFT ecosystem.

But as our space evolves, we need to align resources with the most promising efforts. We’ve decided the cost to continue supporting BSC outweighs the impact."

____
What does it say? If one of the large NFT marketplaces refuses to support a very large ecosystem. ( a rhetorical question)

That they don't like the ecosystem and they think that there are already enough of them, probably enough to saturate the market and confuse and divide invistors.
But that's a quite bold move. I wonder what's the backlash from CZ is going to be, as i think there most certainly will be something.

I don't think anyone want to cross that guy who brought huge exchange down by hinting something in a tweet. Although i am not sure what he could do.
1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What features are now expected from cryptocurrencies? on: August 23, 2023, 07:51:46 PM
There are a lot of cryptocurrencies on the market right now, from those that focus on privacy to those that focus on development.
What other features or technologies are out there that people are hoping to get?
Many coins already have "focus on development", but they are either unable to provide as what they are promising isn't yet solvable. So they provide low quality versions of their promises, but they are all smoke and mirrors and have been build top of fundamentally wrong design so they are not solving the problem they should.

Permissionless L1 that has top notch Privacy smart contracts, but at the same time tokens issued on it are regulatory friendly so that it includes the option of issuing securities. So, basically decentralized privacy combined with auditability. Solve that and you'll get my interest.
1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Monero so unpopular? on: August 22, 2023, 11:46:32 AM
Privacy is a necessary feature in my opinion, but why hasn't Monero become a main coin?
When the whole an only purpose of a coin is to escape regulations, don't you think that regulators will move against it sooner or later? You could have privacy while being regulatory compliant but monero use cases don't fit into that, it would only get worst parts of that deal.

Delisting has already started and i can't see it having any future, when the whole space is being regulated. Maybe it has some future with person to person trading, but i have hard time seeing it having anything near to valuation it had when it had actual fast liquidity. Not to mention that in the future, when you need to prove the origin of the money, it will be hard to do with Monero, if it even will be accepted as a source.
1169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vitalik Buterin Fuels Coinbase with $1M ETH! on: August 22, 2023, 11:40:16 AM
I think he will stake the ETH on the Coinbase pool and get the CbEth. Then he will add CbEth into the eigen layer to get more points. So he will be eligible for eigen layer airdrop as well. This is just an idea.
Why would he support cex as a staking tool when he can stake it by himself?

Just yesterday, Vitalik Buterin made a move that caught my attention – he sent over $1 million worth of ETH to the Coinbase crypto exchange. Now, I can't help but wonder what's behind this decision. Is he eyeing a flashy new car or some real estate perhaps? Or maybe, just maybe, he's got some heartwarming plans, like supporting charitable initiatives in Ukraine or Hawaii. Your guess is as good as mine!
-cut-
He could donate directly from his wallet, he doesn't need to deposit it to coinbase for that.

Only reason i see for that move is selling it for money, or selling to buy some other cryptos with it. My guess is selling. It's not that unusual that people need fiat money for investing and spending, especially in current economic athmosphere.

1170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: August 22, 2023, 11:30:27 AM
Is Mark Zuckerberg really that naïve to even consider fighting real fighters? I don't that is a good idea because this path was just opened because of Elon's gimmicks for calling out Mark for a fight and not that it already fell into pieces, I don't see any reasons for him to pursue this path as it will not lead him to anything that will give him benefit.
-cut-
What do you mean? Zuckerberg has already competed in a jiu-jitsu competition and keeps on fighting and practicing it. Being a "real" fighter doesn't mean you need to be blakbelt+ pro, but to take this sport seriously. Practice it and have respect for it enough to understand, that showing up someone's backdoor wanting to fight because you want to show off, is far from respecting the the sport or people teaching it.

Being humble is a big part of learning it.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal launches an Ethereum-based Stablecoin! on: August 22, 2023, 11:17:13 AM
I trust USDT, I consider everything else unnecessary

Well that's pretty strange argument. While i trust USDT most of them all, i feel that giving a monopoly to one centralized stablecoin is a dangerous road to take. There should be competition so that people would have options and to reduce any blowback of potential depegging of USDT.

Consequences of that potential serious failure of USDT would already be devastating, but imagine USDT being the only one. It would be a killing blow for the markets and it would get years to get back where it's now. Not to mention how many people would lose everything. I mean they could potentially get some of it back later via lawsuits, but that wouldn't be a fix.
1172  Other / Politics & Society / Re: North Korea's Kim Jong Un dismisses top general, calls for war preparations on: August 22, 2023, 11:05:54 AM
I have seen this happening before. Actually, I recall some years ago people on internet were actually expecting for Kim to actually push the nuclear button and start the apocalypse. It never happened.

At this point I think that the North Korean regime is more interest on keeping Japan and South Korea scared of the consequences in case any western country or their allies dare to try to overthrow Kim or his dynasty. So I dont think Kim will dare to start a war this time or in the near future, they just want t be left alone enjoying their dictator life and making the life of thousands miserable.  Sad

It is mind-blowing how they were able/allowed to get a nuclear arsenal, by the way.
This is it, they are obligated to keep the appereances up in order to be relevant to the world.

Real reason why this pompous blustering is happening right now, is the fact that there are annual US-South Korea joint military exercises happening nearby, and NK doesn't want to seem weak at in eyes of their own citizens or the world. They are viewing this as practise for invasion.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Memecoins Vs legit Altcoins in 2023 on: August 21, 2023, 07:31:47 PM
Before this year 2023, people were launching projects with whitepaper, roadmap and promote those projects with Their team. Memecoins were few but this year, situation is changed. Everybody is busy launching memecoins, no whitepaper, no roadmap. 8 projects are memecoin out of 10 projects.
It seems, this year will be full of memecoins. What do you think? Why memecoin launching is increasing so much in this year?
I don't consider this unusual. There has always been a flow of memetokens, and since they are easy to make, there will be as many of them as you care to count.

Your feeds might be just be filled by them right now. As every time there's a succesfull coin or a token, there will be ton of copycats after it, trying to ride that wave as they can say that we are the new pepe or what ever. This is not just with memecoins. There used to be a country coins citycoins named after cities, politician coins named after politicians, just becuse it was hot.

Before Dash was called dash, it was called darkcoin, and after that mooned everyone wanted dark in their name, or a shadow or similar. It's just a trend. It will blow over, and then it will rise again after some other memetoken rises.

There are still ton of projects that have white papers and that are least pretending to solve real issues. Those are just now not as trendy so you have to look for them.
1174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos games are not made by the casino teams but... on: August 21, 2023, 05:51:01 PM
I always consider games from one casino to be easily manipulated if the casino is the one that builds the game, when it comes to reputable online casinos, they always offer favourite games from trusty developers, this mean they don't build those games themselves.

The question I have in mind is, aren't the developers the ones that should be responsible for any manipulation in the games or it's still possible for the casino team and members to manipulate the game engines?

Some people still think that games on online casinos are from the casino teams themselves but those games are from software providers, is this valid or not.
To my knowledge those third party slots leave some tweaking options to casinos. Like RTP %. And yes, ultiimately people who develope those slots have responsibility, but you don't have to take their word for it. As they are being audited all the time, technical vulnerability analysis, done by ISS And ISMS doing Info sec.

To top of that, if they would get caught of being dishonest, years building trust would be gone over night. Building that level of trust from a scratch would be a mountain of work.

Here's some info about audits:

1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you lose on slots? on: August 21, 2023, 05:38:23 PM
The house ALWAYS wins. Every time. All the enticing stories about winning a rare jackpot or about winning three times in a row are meant to satiate the base desires and cravings. Thats a delusion, a trick used by casinos to entice you to keep playing.

You discuss having fun and setting limits, but here's the harsh reality: The system is designed to take advantage of you, not to entertain you. both psychological and mental illnesses? They are more than just barriers. Nor are they only "common problems." They are proof of a system that exists to eat you alive and spit you back out. Dont romanticize it. If fortune has not been on your side, it may be time to consider whether the game was fixed from the beginning.
I sort of disagree with this. Not with the fact that house always wins, but wih the system and how it's definitely made to entertain me. If it wouldn't be, then why would i would keep coming playing with demo mode with slots? I know that some slots are engineered to addict me, but so is the whole social media. I don't mind being addicted in that way and getting my dopamine from that.

In sports i also enjoy the process of studying fighters in MMA. PArt of the fun is look comparing statistics, looking at their skills from videos and history and weaknesses. Looking at the live match is part of the entertainment too. Even thought the money plays a key part, i am not playing games that are not entertaining me. I totally understand the odds, but just because someone is having a lucky streak, it doesn't mean games are rigded. It's in same way just part of the probability that sometimes you win more. That's almost as sure that you will sometimes lose.
1176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I will pass KYC later is a bad idea on: August 21, 2023, 03:47:42 PM
I don't know where some gamblers are getting their confidence from, do you know that online casinos can keep rejecting your ID after you made some high amount of money? Some people cares about winning first before passing KYC, it's cool you believe that you won't always win but the luck comes when we least expected.

Imagine winning and you find it hard to pass KYC, trapping your money on the casino for like ever.

It's not always the casinos fault, I know some are dubious but the thing is KYC verification is something you should first deal with before making your first deposit.

Online casinos can be frustrating at times, some casino won't accept your submitted document even when you haven't make any deposit on the platform yet, so always confirm your identity first.

Submit your identity and wait for approval, do not be in haste to make deposit first, because the identity you submitted without a green approval from the team can still be rejected, take your time to get the passed approval first before proceeding with gambling.
It might be a good idea, but i never failed KYC so i guess i would like to know why wouldn't i be able to pass it? I mean if i have my paperwork in order and i don't live in a restricted area, what are the things actually restricting me from passing. I know i might some day need to provide a source for my income if i am depositing a suspiciously big amount, but i don't think i can do that beforehand if i need to prove the origin.

Are there some actual cases where people haven't passed kyc while being legit users, because i know only those that are most likely just angry because they got caught. And some other cases are being resolved later on.
1177  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲BetFury.io| 💸Buy-Sell BFG on BetFury | 🔥Fury Pharaoh - New In-house Slot on: August 21, 2023, 01:45:09 PM
This year BFG is outperforming Bitcoin when you add the staking % into it.
Are you saying it's going to outperform it or have been already outperforming it? I am unaware how much roi has been fluctuating. All i know that it has decreased all the time and i don't think it's possible to get your investment back, and at the same time BFG has been slowly dropping.

This year at the time of writing BFG has rised around 18.6%, while BTC has risen 56.7%. So how much are those dividends worth? Current apy for staking is 32.46% but as it's been dropping that number doesn't mean much.
1178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: August 20, 2023, 10:04:11 PM
Limiting oneself is quite crucial, don't you think? I mean, I've witnessed people who first seemed like they were just having a little fun turn into serious players. However, allow me to offer my two, or even three, pennies (just because)

I think everyone thinks they're not "that" gambler. Like, everybody has a plan. "I know when to walk away," many have said to me, yet despite this, they continue to click on websites or press buttons at casinos. It's similar like promising yourself you'll only eat one chip out of the package, but you wind up scarfing it down

And that technique you suggested for withdrawal? It sounds amazing, but is self-control even something that most people possess? They claim to, after all, but really! Everyone like to believe that they are the exception rather than the rule
In my case, i don't even claim to have self-control over gambling. But i have self control over my own plans. If i didn't have previously set limits and rules for myself that are harder to work around when i am in a zone and gambling

Gambling is so fun it's intoxicating. And just like with drinking, if i plan to go to bar, i leave my credit card because sober me doesn't trust drunk me to make good choices. And drunk me doesn't listen to sober me. That's why remove my changes to make more debt. In online gambling i am using not using my bank account, but a crypto account. And that crypto account has certain amount of money monthly that i won't ever top by buying more while gambling.

The information in the above top is relevant at the time of data collection. The Demo_Gambling/iGaming Twitch Marketing Inventory List 2023 includes the number of peak viewers, average viewers, hour watched per day, active days, and etc.

More and more businesses are turning to influencers, considering their vast audience and impact. The effectiveness of influencer advertising can be attributed to the strong bond between influencers and followers. When influencers recommend or review products, viewers perceive their opinions as highly reliable, surpassing the credibility of traditional advertising methods. Influencers offer a unique advantage in terms of targeting, allowing advertisers to concentrate on specific target audiences. That's why we have compiled 2,505 streamers into a single list - Gambling/iGaming Twitch Marketing Inventory List 2023, which served as the basis for this top. Considering the restrictions faced by gambling, influencer marketing on Twitch can become effective and allows companies to achieve more quality results.
Thanks, i've been working with one obscure unnamed casino, to hire influencers for them and i get a cut from each influencer working for them, and since i don't follow twitch at all, this whole influencer game is an unfamiliar scene to me and you just made my work a lot easier as i can just contact to everyone on that list.
1180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling discussion effect on: August 20, 2023, 09:11:20 PM
I’m not a regular gambler before I start participating on gambling discussion here due to campaign requirements. Right now I have urge to gamble everytime I saw someone post here about discussion on profit or winning jackpot. Even a simple discussion about strategy makes me want to gamble because I’m excited to try the strategy that I’m thinking.

Right now, I’m still not frequently gambling because of my work but I do regular gambling once or twice a week even if I don’t do this before just because I’m always exposed to gambling discussion and the thought of it makes me want to try.

What’s the effect of gambling discussion here to you? I’m thinking to quit participating on signature campaign that involves gambling discussion in an event that my gambling activities is increasing above my normal habit.
I know what you mean, but to me there's really no strategy, so that won't get me going, but it's always cool to hear when people win jackpots. I feel it's possible to happen to anyone. That gets me in gambling mood.

But talking about it in here is just something i want to do anyway, but as my friends don't gamble that i know of, i can't talk with them. And talking to non-gamblers about gambling is just frustrating. I rather keep it to myself or talk in here.
