11721  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: November 23, 2015, 12:05:41 PM
Will Ethereum be able to implement Proof of Stake on Ethers? I think it would be a great idea to stake Ethers (like a bank account which earns you interest) as this would make it more energy efficient than mining them with a GPU. Still there is a lot to be developed on, and maybe in the next 2 to 3 years we would be able to see Ethereum's true potential. This is an excting journey for Ethereum.  Cheesy

I've been lending mine on Polo for interest Cool

Could you advise me on how to do such thing? This looks pretty interesting, but I do not know how to do that on the Poloniex exchange. Sorry for asking, I'm still not familiar with how Poloniex works. I use Cryptsy most of the time.  Smiley

I just started doing this myself after I saw this video.  The video is a bit rough, but should give you a good idea how the Lending area works.

I started this video link around the point where he started talking about Lending.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY3oy8ep_FA&feature=youtu.be&t=398

This is a great video. It helped me get a better understanding of how Poloniex lending works. This is pretty amazing. That means I could start lending my ETH and gain interest in return. I'm going to try this at the weekend and see how good it goes.  Grin

waiting for the new wallet
Me too Smiley Fortunately I have just stake my 46k coin age (worth 31 AMBER before update, will worth only 9 AMBER after update) today, so that I won't loss my stake due to lower interest Smiley

I as well would like to see the new wallet. Exciting things for Ambercoin are about to come and I think this is only the beginning. Price has been skyrocketing in the last days, with yesterday being at $0.04 per AMBER. This is certainly good news. If you analyze the charts at Coinmarketcap, you can see that it is mostly going upward.  Smiley
11723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LiteDoge - such Community coin | no premine | very fast | much profit on: November 23, 2015, 11:27:52 AM
What happened to LiteDoge exchanges? I tried going to the Bittrex exchange site, but it looks like they have removed the LDOGE to BTC market. All I get is a message stating that the Page could not be found. Any hints? Also, I've checked Coinmarketcap, but on the markets list there is 0% volume trading on all of them. Is this coin dead already?  Huh

LDOGE is currently trading on Yobit and Cryptopia.  It's a shame that bittrex delisted due to inactivity, but that is because most are staking the coin right now.  It has currently been raising in difficulty to the highest level of difficulty that it has ever been at.  Fewer are selling and instead staking.  Bittrex does not like that because they make less money off of people holding their coins rather then selling.

Now that is a relief, but I can still see that Coinmarketcap has not updated its market stats, so all it says is that LDOGE has 0% volume trading on all markets. That is why I thought it was dead. Any ideas on how to to know current staking difficulty?

You can get the staking difficulty from the explorer...http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/LDOGE/

Thanks for sharing this useful link. Exactly how does staking difficulty work? The more difficultly there is on the network, the less staking reward you will get, or is the reward based on stake weight? Sorry for asking, I'm very familiar with coin staking.  Grin

Now that is a very useful guide for newcomers to the Bitshares platform (like me). Thanks a lot mate! This is very useful for me to get a better understanding of Bitshares features. Looking forward for more exciting things to come by!  Cheesy

thank you! check out our monthly raffle too http://blog.smartcoin.pw/2015/11/bitshares-1000-bts-raffle.html and grab your chance to win some bitshares Smiley

A Bitshares giveaway? Now that is totally awesome. I'll give this a try when I get home today. I hope to get lucky for a chance to win that good amount of BTS.  Cheesy

@bizzyb  Can I mine MonetaryUnit with my CPU, instead of a GPU? (sorry I don't know much about quark's algorithm) If it is possible, how can I estimate mining hashrate of an Intel Core i5-3210M CPU @2.50GHz? Thanks.  Wink

Maybe this helps:

http://www.monetaryunit.org/muestuff/how-to-use-and-set-up-cpuminer/

Exactly right this will do the job nicely Smiley

@Abiky I would hope your CPU would get 400kh+? Not sure, but please do let us know Smiley

Thanks for sharing your recommendations for setting up my CPU. I will try this on the weekend and would let you know know my mining hashrate. Then, I would place some of my MUE on the MUEbank as well.  Grin

GPU which are more effective than CPUs for this task).  Smiley

For some PoWs, GPUs offer no advantage.
Some PoWs even leave your CPU running cool...

what pow?

Cuckoo Cycle

https://github.com/tromp/cuckoo

is this something like scrypt-n but for sha256 to counteract asic? i seen somethign about memory there

sha256 is the simplest choice of compute-bound hash function in the Hashcash Proof of Work.
scrypt-n is an attempt to make the hash function require lots of memory but fails in three ways:
1) scrypt allows trading off memory for time
2) the larger n, the slower the hash computation, quickly making it unsuitable for fast verification
3) scrypt is still rather computation heavy

In Cuckoo Cycle computation is minimized and you spend most time waiting for memory.
You can scale memory use to the GB range while remaining instantly verifiable.
Trading off memory for time is not so feasible, incurring an extra order-of-magnitude slowdown.

All these ideas and features of the new Cuckoo Cycle algorithm, makes me think that we will be soon seeing CuckooCoin around. It will be better than most SHA-256 and Scrypt coins out there. This will make more memory efficient.  Grin

It's not even that new.

I published/announced it in early January 2014,
and in May 2014, courtesy of David Andersen,
the miner reached its current, presumably near-optimal form.

I thought it was new, since I have never heard of such algorithm. It is a good thing I stay updated with the latest innovations in the crypto world right here on BCT. Thanks for sharing this information.  Wink

This was really a great crypto. I remember when I used to be a Whitecoinaire but after seeing lack of development, I sold all my XWC and exchanged them back to BTC. Still, if there would be any innovation at all, I would come back. I have plenty of ideas for the new Whitecoin 2.0 and those would be the following features:

1. Decrease available supply (to increase price as it will become more rare)

2. Make a new GUI wallet with a better interface.

3. Make a mobile Whitecoin app for Android and iOS.

4. Ability to stake Whitecoins in the cloud (see www.xpy.io for an example)

5. Physical Whitecoin currency. (could be in Gold, silver or copper)

6. Add XWC to major crypto exchanges such as Poloniex and Cryptsy.

7. Create a decentralized marketplace for XWC.

8. And something else I might have missed.  Cheesy

well i suppose a ponzi scheme is good if the ponzi is just begginning and you are close to the top of the pyramid, since you might get paid.
how do i get into these signature campains?
You need higher rank Full Member for good amount from Signature but you still can join some campaigns which are supporting newbies and Jr Members income is not good but for start its ok

Unless newbies and Jr members would like to try farming, then they would earn as much as a Full member (I think). All there is needed is to have multiple accounts with multiple signature campaigns and you are all set. Just be careful make quality posts and don't spam to avoid being banned from campaign.  Wink
11732  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: November 23, 2015, 01:13:42 AM
Even doge has more uses than litecoin. Litecoin is a shit coin, worth nothing. Price will collapse before the year's end.
 Mark my words.

I personally dont think the price will go lower than 8 mBTC, but that is still just a few % points. And then it can go up again.

Doge is stable no doubt, but i dont see DOGE ever going up big.

I`d still choose LTC over DOGE anytime.

DOGE's current problem is that there are too many of them (available supply is huge) thus making it a very inflationary currency. The less the supply the more the price would increase. Also, I think that even NXT and Ethereum are better than both Litecoin and Dogecoin. Just my opinion.  Roll Eyes
11733  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: November 23, 2015, 12:40:32 AM
It all depends on your choosing, whenever you like the flexibility of having control of your own money, or to have the ability to earn interest from your savings account, I would like to state that each has their advantages and disadvantages. So until Bitcoin becomes a mainstream currency, it is best to use both a bank account and a Bitcoin wallet. Just my opinion.  Smiley
there are advantages and disadvantages of both, the best is use both
I like the bank because there is interest  Grin

You can always earn interest on your Bitcoin savings by various ways like Magnr, or Poloniex lending (which earns you interest). Isn't that similar to a bank as well, in earning interest? Just expressing my thoughts by the way. It is good to have both (BTC and Bank) in the meantime.  Smiley
11734  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] ♠ CasinoCoin v1.3 ♥ ♦ 2+ Years Old ♣ on: November 23, 2015, 12:35:25 AM
Any hint on when we would be seeing the new CasinoCoin wallet release? Sorry for asking, I'm just excited to start using the new one as it has been a long time since the last version was released. By the way, where could I find a CasinoCoin paper wallet generator? Thanks in advance.  Smiley

Soon. It won't be long. I'd like to get it out before the end of November.
Yes we are doing our best to release it by the end of november. However there is far more coding involved than we anticipated. As there is no change on the blockchain and its version you could checkout the GUI-2.0 branch and build a wallet version by your self, .... offcourse on your own risk as we have not tested all functions  yet, last commit should already work and has about 90% of the work done. There are some bugs on exiting the wallet so i would not run it with your current wallet and its coins Wink yet but with a copy of your datadir.

Now that is good to hear. It seems that I would be getting my hands on the new wallet after all before Christmas. This is so cool. And also, the addition of new casinos/gambling sites that would accept CSC as payment would be a great move towards increase in price and demand.  Grin
11735  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HYPER ~ Game Currency ~ ON CNBC ~ Twitch.tv ~ ShapeShift.io ~RPG + More! on: November 22, 2015, 11:33:58 PM
when new games will be added for this, do you plan to add moba game like dota2 for example? it would increase greatly the exposure of hyper i believe

Dota 2 would be a great pick, but having League of Legends would be far better since this game has a better exposure.

League of Legends would be an excellent idea, but what about mainstream console games like the ones for Xbox One, PS4 or even the Wii U? It would certainly be great to earn Hyper while you play those games, and at the same time it will be extra fun!  Cheesy

oh wow.. 4K sat..  30btc market cap..   Roll Eyes

Who knows what might happen in the future? Right now is it extremely cheap, but if this crypto gets more attention to it, (and more market demand) I'm pretty sure it would succeed. That is why even if things seem to look bad, there is still hope that maybe someday the price would increase and it would have been worth it to hold Expanse for some time.  Roll Eyes

This crypto currency is awesome. I'm starting to download the wallet and buying some MUE at an exchange. By the way, is not there a list of peers I could find to add into my wallet? All I get is just 4 connections to the MonetaryUnit network. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks  Wink

Have a look at the node list here...
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/mue/#!network

addnode='any from the latest wallet version' should push you along

Great! Thanks for sharing this useful source of nodes for MUE. I'll try this at home and will also get into mining as soon as I get a nice GPU.  Cheesy

the other two are dead is seems, burst is the only one, it was profitable at launch now not anymore, they should do a coin like this based on the speed of the hd disk instead of the capacity
we could reduce the consumption even farther and less space and ram for the computer, i'm waiting for it to be released

Exactly. I was thinking of such a coin, perhaps an improvement on Burst's mining algorithm (like Burst 2.0)? Anyways, I was looking into Storj and based on their earnings calculator, it looks very profitable. Even still, Sia looks interesting as well.  Roll Eyes  You can check it out here: https://sia.tech/
