1541  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What motivated you to join the forum? on: September 17, 2023, 10:35:30 AM
Why ban the bounty board? The problem is not that this board exists, the problem is that beginners do not allocate their steps correctly. The correct step is to first learn the basics of cryptocurrencies, then try to make money. I'm sure most bounty participants have little to no specialized knowledge and all their skills are mostly centered on smarts, registration and copypasting. Nowadays you don't even need to copypaste, you just need to register with some AI bot and it will generate all sorts of content for the bounty itself, starting from articles and ending with various pictures.

The very fact that such a board exists allows some people to become members of this forum because someone put the bug in their ear that this is a place where you can make money. Furthermore, it is no secret that most of these bounty campaigns promote very questionable (not to mention scam projects) and that all those who you claim have no experience and knowledge are actually naive victims who are left at the mercy of those who exploit them without stopping .

If we are already talking about bans being bad, then those who run such campaigns should have been at least forced not to accept beginners and Jr. members, so every member would learn something until he becomes Member rank.

For me, that system is generally bad, but it obviously suits the forum and those who make a profit out of it, and that means that everything will remain as it was. In that case, it is not fair to put all the blame on the backs of those beginners, they are only doing what they are allowed to do.
1542  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach all-time-high before halving. - BitQuant on: September 16, 2023, 02:07:05 PM
Who the hell is this QuantRant that such a tweet should be considered worthy of discussion? @Tytanowy Janusz wrote an excellent post and there is hardly anything to add, except that those speculating about a new ATH before the halving have only one thing in mind, and that is the possible approval of the spot BTC ETF in the US.

Given that the deadline for the SEC to make its decision is sometime in early 2024, it is logical that all these "experts" compete in their speculations, which in the end are nothing more than that. I really don't want to speculate too much about the prices, it is realistic to say that it will be somewhere between $70k and maybe $150k at the peak, although there is a possibility that it will be much more.

After reading the responses to my last post in this section I realize that there is merit to the current order of things here.
~snip~

I wonder then why this reply of yours is not in that thread, but you opened a new one? After so much time on the forum, you still act like a beginner who doesn't know what thread spamming is...
1544  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: safepal or ellipal titan mini on: September 16, 2023, 01:19:43 PM
For bitcoin-only hardware wallet, you can go for Passport hardware wallet.

It seems to me that the OP has no problem only with that he claims that Passport HW is not available in his country, but that the price of the same is about x4 higher than SafePal if we take into account the total price with shipping and customs costs. Regardless of the fact that Passport is perhaps the best choice when it comes to HW at the moment, only those who are exclusively interested in BTC and have significant value in it will buy it.
1545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be the biggest means of fulfilling dreams in the future. on: September 16, 2023, 01:03:16 PM
~snip~
So if you want to fulfill your dreams in life then invest in Bitcoin then you will be able to fulfill your dreams very soon.

What can go wrong if you go all in Bitcoin?

- In the future, the most powerful countries in the world will make a decision that trading with BTC is illegal, they will close all CEXs and the price will drop drastically.

- In x years from your investment, thieves will break into your house and steal your backup, or force you to send them all your BTC in a transaction.

- In x years from your investment, you will try to sell your BTC and only then realize that something is wrong with the backup, and you will no longer have access to the original wallet.

- In x years from your investment, some natural disaster will happen and your backup will disappear.

It is true that it is easiest to buy Bitcoin, but all the risks arising from such an investment should be taken into account. I wonder if people like you will ever understand what Bitcoin is all about...

And looks like the pandemic and war in Ukraine didn't stop rich people from getting richer... in the past years their profits are hitting the roofs, but we "slaves need to work harder". And we need to drive less, apparently, my car produces more pollution than Jeff Bezos's 500 million-dollar yacht.

The rich become even richer precisely during economic crises and wars, because then they can manipulate the market even more and convince people to work more for less and that they do everything in their power to make us better off. When you already mentioned Comrade Bezos and his empire, I remember how during the pandemic he even asked for help/donations to pay his workers, the same ones who tell stories every day about what it's like to work for him.

These are the most ordinary hypocrites who will publicly call out people that they need to allocate their money better and reduce their carbon footprint, while at the same time their planes, yachts and super cars together with their companies are destroying the environment at an incredible speed - all for profit, of course.
1547  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What motivated you to join the forum? on: September 16, 2023, 10:14:34 AM
All the people who come here solely to make money, most often either leave unnoticed or are glorified by various abuses, by creating many alternative accounts and abusing campaigns. What benefit do such people bring to the community and to the forum? There is no benefit, only parasitization. A lot of newcomers coming to the forum, should realize at once one simple truth that the forum is not a place to earn money, no one promises here any monetary rewards for writing posts. Properly motivated newcomers always ask a lot first, and then try to share their knowledge by creating posts and threads.

However, you have to take into account that they are doing something that is allowed to them, because otherwise they would not become members of the forum at all. The administration could solve this at any time by simply banning bounty campaigns, but how much traffic would the forum lose in that case?

In addition, all these members are mostly within one board and the administration obviously does not perceive them as a problem, but as those who (although in the wrong way) bring new members to the forum. Of course, the question arises as to what is the use of such members, but some of them will sooner or later leave the bounty campaigns and become useful members of the forum.
1548  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Faruk Fatih Φzer, founder of Thodex found guilty sentenced to 11,196 years on: September 15, 2023, 02:46:20 PM
It is not disputed that a man should be punished if he is proven guilty, but I have never understood the point of such long-term sentences, considering that people live on average less than 100 years in ideal conditions. Maybe when he dies, they will bury him inside the prison walls and keep him that way for the next 11 000+ years?

Justice is that the man responsible for the crime is in prison, but the sentence in itself has no meaning and it wouldn't make any difference if they sentenced him to 100 years in prison without the possibility of parole. If Bankman and Kwon had found themselves in that country, they would probably have received 100 000 years in prison each individually.
1549  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australia will ban Gambling through credit cards on: September 15, 2023, 02:05:17 PM
I'm not someone who advocates bans and I'm more in favor of everyone using their money the way they want, but it seems that there comes a time when people need to be protected from themselves. Gambling should be fun and with a sense of responsibility, but when things get out of control and someone spends more than they earn, it becomes a problem.

The positive thing here is that Australia is actually giving up part of the income it gets from taxes considering the total amount its residents spend every year on gambling, to protect them from themselves. However, those who want to gamble will always find a way to do so, despite the bans.
1550  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 15, 2023, 01:26:51 PM
How can BNB still be worth so much after all that carry on this year?

Surely it should be way down the top 100 shitecoins list.

Market cap of $32 billion. How is this possible?

Shitcoins are truly shit.

 Roll Eyes

I think that something that is practically worthless can have such great value only if the man behind it all manages to convince millions that it is actually worth something. Considering that a lot of people have a very positive opinion of CZ, and consider him to be some kind of messiah who fights against the system, it's not surprising that he managed to sell his shitcoin to them as something that really has value.

In addition, marketcap is something that is the result of circulating supply times the price, and when you have almost 154 million of these tokens at a price of $200+, you get a very nice amount that then deceives people even more. I see a bigger problem in the people who buy it than in the fact that such a thing exists at all.
1551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Countries living behind their century, taking a back sit on BTC evolution. on: September 15, 2023, 01:08:04 PM
Bangladesh, Domican Republic,  Bolivia, Nepal, Ghana,  Algeria and a host of other nations seems not to understand the times and seasons as regards world changing currency BTC, despite being accepted in most part of the world.

I don't understand what exactly these countries should understand and how Bitcoin should help them? If by some miracle tomorrow all these countries declare that Bitcoin is completely legal and also a legal tender, what would change in these countries in your opinion?

In addition, one of our members was recently in one of the countries you listed and bought BTC using an ATM, so everything is not as bad as it seems to you.

I personally think more awareness about  the benefits of trading with cryptocurrencies needs to be created particularly in nations where there are restrictions and banned on cryptocurrencies and also it should  be made more simple for easy use no matter the level of one  literacy. More work is needed. What are your thoughts?

You can tell people about Bitcoin as much as you want, but if they don't have a job and a roof over their heads and can't put enough food on their table every day, and they don't even have the internet or only have it occasionally - what will they do with Bitcoin even if someone give it as a gift - maybe transfer it with the help of a carrier pigeon that would carry private keys instead of letters Roll Eyes

It's obvious that old members here before the introduction of merit system and signature campaign who are still active are here for genuine reason which is to share knowledge and gain as well and you can still see that from their post. It's actually sad that the story has changed from seeking sincere knowledge to hunting after money. It however keep the forum more busy and active and it's a win for Forum
.

I can't say for sure, but as far as I remember, signature campaigns existed in 2014 when I first visited the forum, so we can say that they have existed for about 10 years. If you look at active members who registered 10+ years ago, you won't find too many of them, but that doesn't mean that those who joined later did it just to make money.

The merit system arrived only in 2018, so although it may not be the ideal way to fight spam and alt farms, it has greatly improved the situation on the forum in this regard. However, it is not difficult at all to get 1 merit and become a Jr. Member, which for some is quite enough for bounty campaigns.

Unfortunately, everything in this world revolves around money, and it would be strange if this forum was an exception. But we shouldn't consider it bad if someone has the opportunity to earn something along with acquiring and sharing knowledge, because that's what makes this forum different from the others.

I can only say that I registered on the forum after visiting occasionally as a guest for almost a year, and I only joined the first sig campaign as a full member after realizing that everyone else was doing it. I guess that means that I didn't come to the forum just for money Smiley
1554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HALVING IS GOING TO CAUSE A GENERAL EFFECT ON ALL IN THE ECOSYSTEM. on: September 15, 2023, 10:27:32 AM
What do you think you're doing please? You not only didn't read the post you were too quick to reply to a post that you have short understand on. You should go to the beginners forum and learn about rules of operation here. You won't grow here if you continue like this. Your first objective should be learning.

If you are already warning others that they need to learn something, how about starting from yourself? The rules of good behavior say that you should not use capital letters (and you still use them in title), and also that when you open a topic, you should participate in it.
1555  Economy / Economics / Re: Tim Gurner wants Unemployment to increase. Employers have lost their power. on: September 14, 2023, 02:11:10 PM
So when these guys make millions/billions they love free market, but when the free market results in something they don't like, like the shortage of workers, then they cry like babies and want to fix it. And the hate of working from home is completely delusional, they are not even trying to hide that they treat their workers as a resource to be squeezed and discarded. So why should the workers shouldn't stand their ground, especially if they get more bargaining power? Out of sympathy for a rich guy who could only afford 1 yacht this year instead of 3?

Modern slavery and nothing more than that, because what else can you say when you see how someone treats workers' rights, or better said, considers these rights completely unnecessary. According to them, people should work, shut up and put up with everything the boss tells them, even if it means humiliating themselves to the point of renouncing their basic labor rights, such as going on a break or going to the toilet, or maybe even working without regular pay.

In my country, employers mostly treated workers in the private sector very badly while there were a lot of unemployed people, and today, when people have gone to all corners of the world, they import foreign labor that is not even half as good as the local ones. A good worker should be appreciated and paid, but this is something that some employers realize too late, perhaps only when they wonder why profits and production are falling, or when their company fails.
1556  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Huobi global rebranded name to HTX on: September 14, 2023, 01:36:25 PM
I'm really curious if they paid someone for the rebranding or if it's a product of their own management? In any case, when we look at what is actually hidden in the name, then it could be concluded that it is a lucrative deal between the company and Mr. Sun who bought a big storefront for his pointless cryptocurrency.

In my opinion, the link between FTX and HTX exists in the fact that both companies have (or will have) a large exposure to altcoins, and on the example of FTX we saw how things unfold in that case. The company collapses, and it is left with a few billion shitcoins that it needs to sell, thus devaluing them even more.
1557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 14, 2023, 01:17:33 PM
As far as I know, Mt.gox will pay in many different coins, not just BTC, and it all depends on the victim's choice.
~snip~

From everything that could be read, not only will payments be possible in BTC and some shitcoin, but the victims could also opt for the payment option in fiat. In addition, it should be noted that not everyone will be paid at once, and considering the Japanese efficiency in this case, I would not be surprised if the whole thing takes years.

I think I could coin a saying that would read "God forbid that your CEX gets hacked, and even less if that CEX is in Japan".
1558  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-09-08] BTC ETF: The quiet 800-pound gorilla in the room is about to roar on: September 14, 2023, 10:59:37 AM
The thing is.... do we want Institutional capital to enter Bitcoin and dominate the ownership of coins ...or do we want an more even distribution of coins to millions of people?
~snip~

Will BR ask you or me or anyone other than the SEC whether or not such an ETF can be launched? Of course, we don't have a say in all of this, and the fact is that Bitcoin is decentralized and everyone has the right to use it the way they want - even those who, for some reason, send it to burn addresses.

On the other hand, we are now in 2023, and Bitcoin has existed since the beginning of 2009, which was quite enough for anyone who wanted to take their share in it in one way or another, and they can still do so. However, considering how the majority perceives BTC, we can hardly hope that they will resist not selling it when some six-digit prices turn up, but there will always be those who will prefer to keep it or use it as a currency.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the spot ETF we're talking about will result in some kind of massive outflow of BTC into custodial storage, and BR has chosen Coinbase for that anyway, which means that they will buy BTC for them on their exchange and send it to another coin address - which ultimately means that BTC will remain where it is now.
1559  Economy / Economics / Re: If the global economy collapses what's the first thing you do? on: September 14, 2023, 10:21:51 AM
Honestly if you have BTC congrats !!! We are heading  into a major economic shift and I feel like when the tides are turning like this there should be a conscious effort to land on the right side of that shift!!! Am I right? What should bitcoiners be doing right now to prepare for a potential global economic hardship other than the obvious which is to hodl and accumulate as much as you can...

If there is a global economic collapse, do you think the price of BTC will remain intact, given that there have been talks about integrating it into the existing financial system for years? And that's exactly what happened, and the price of BTC reacts to every event that has global significance, such as the declaration of a pandemic, which dropped the price of BTC by 50% in less than 24 hours.

Holding is only part of the story, what happens when everyone who keeps their value like that starts selling to cover basic living expenses, and at the same time there is little or no demand at all?

The key is diversification and understanding the risks that we need to protect ourselves from in case everything goes to hell, and I personally am not so much afraid of an economic collapse as of a possible nuclear war, considering that a lot of crazy people possess enough nuclear weapons to destroy this planet and more than a hundred times.

FTX approved to liquidate assets
FTX a bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange has been granted court approval to liquidate $3.4 billion in crypto assets including Solana Bitcoin  and Ethereum  and more. This approval allows FTX to sell, stake and hedge these assets to repay its creditors despite two objections. Judge John Dorsey has given the green light for the assets to be liquidated for creditor repayment.

Be careful

The assets that are signaling a crash are these.
• Solana
• Bitcoin
• Ethereum
• WBTC
• WETH
• USDT
• XRP
• STG
• APT
• BIT
https://watcher.guru/news/ftx-gets-court-approval-to-liquidate-3-4-billion-in-crypto-assets

In the long term, everything on this list except Bitcoin are classic shitcoins, regardless of whether they are cryptocurrencies, tokens or stablecoins. Apart from that, of the $3.4 billion that is being talked about, there is only slightly more than $500 million worth of BTC, so I don't see why some 1900 BTC that will be sold would signal a crash?

A company that dealt with shitcoins, headed by a little bastard who screwed up everything he could, will try to get away with selling shitcoins for a couple of billions - and the biggest fools are those who will buy those same shitcoins - I guess the same ones who have also lost money in that CEX.
