1561  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you really think bitcoin price will touch $k again ? on: March 23, 2015, 08:46:51 AM
I don't know why people get so giddy over high Bitcoin prices, I'm convinced that if it ever does reach those sorts of levels again, especially the $10,000 die hards are expecting it's going to be due to hyperinflation, in which case, I won't be selling my coins I'll be using them as currency.

There are still people out there who don't realise that high prices aren't necessarily a good thing and think that dumping their coins for valueless paper is going to get them somewhere in life.
1562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 08:45:30 AM
It's hardly anything unreasonable, getting angry? No it's just fucking irritating seeing people glance at the title or one post instead of looking at the whole conversation and then making up what the person has actually written throughout the whole thing and then picking a fight entirely based on that and making themselves look stupid.
1563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 08:42:44 AM
Maybe he could use gyft to buy gift cards and use them to get the stuff he wants ordering through his phone but it depends on which shops will ship to his PO box.

He said he was trying to figure out a way to send money to his wife's parents in Namibia, did you even read the previous posts?

lol it's getting ridiculous now how people don't actually read anything properly anymore, we should call these fuckers out I think because often they end up completely derailing the thread.
1564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 08:40:33 AM
Instead of complaining about how nobody uses it you could find somebody who's willing to experiment with it and sell it to them, but as you said, that's not possible because you just made the story up, in that situation what you would do is find several people to sell the coins to and sell the £1000 worth of it in chunks.

Of course, this means that you actually have to take some initiative, I would have turned it into a small event and help explain what Bitcoin is to people, that's how you get them interested and spread it's use.

I keep coming back to this video whenever somebody complains about the use of Bitcoin, a family in your situation went and did it rather than saying nobody knows about it and giving up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrRXP1tp6Kw
1565  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Low rates will trigger civil unrest as central banks lose control on: March 22, 2015, 05:57:02 PM
About economy we know nothing. I don't know if low interests are good or bad, and I study economy. It's crazy.

You mean you know nothing, don't speak for us, interest rates fluctuating are never inherently bad just like market price fluctuating aren't, however if you keep interest rates low artificially for an extremely long period of time as central banks have then it completely destroys savers and incentivises reckless borrowing.
1566  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How Social Justice Warriors Are Creating An Entire Generation Of Fascists on: March 22, 2015, 09:36:46 AM
There's a huge difference between people going after scammers, particularly proven scammers and these scumbags who try to justify the surpression of free speech and expression with their alternate realities. Sorry but you're creating a pretty shitty argument here and yes, I'm inclined to agree with the others. You're acting like other people who get accused and instead of ignoring bullshit accusations like an intelligent person ( At least if it's true that any of them are innocent ) you decide to escalate everything by making passive aggressive threads about it which just make you look worse.
1567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal Accepting Bitcoin Payments!?!?!?!?!?! on: March 21, 2015, 10:51:48 AM
I'm not interested in hearing news about Paypal until I see a Bitcoin balance there, the CEO has proven himself to be completely full of shit.

1569  Economy / Economics / Re: Sweden walking around in the dark on: March 20, 2015, 06:46:34 AM
In fact Swedish Central Bank is not owned by the Swedish Government but is privately owned, just like the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States.
The only solution is free markets; not central banks or corrupted capitalism. And Bitcoin may be the key here.

The Federal Reserve token funded by member banks and commercial banks, neither of which have voting stock.  It is wholly controlled by the US government.

BTC's total price instability would be hellish compared to the largest conventional currencies.

That's just a blatantly contradictory statement, you just said that commercial banks own the federal reserve, that means it isn't 'wholly' conrolled by the US government, pick one or the other, anyway, we here all know the federal reserve is a private bank, as are most central banks, no matter how much people try to lie otherwise.
1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 19, 2015, 09:38:19 AM
I understand the reasoning behind it because it's more secure but normal people aren't going to be very happy if they have to wait 10 minutes or more to place an order.
Wait 10 minutes to place an order? What reasoning is this? Once you have your coins in wallet you can use them. I mean online shops.

It's not reasoning, it's what I've observed and I don't know where you've been shopping but other shops tend to use Bitpay and the like where you just send them to an address, sometimes it's incredibly quick but the conifrmation times are pretty random even if they only ask for 1.
1571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 19, 2015, 09:01:25 AM
That's because you're clearly not trying to use Bitcoin for actual commerce and trade, confirmation times are an issue, I understand the reasoning behind it because it's more secure but normal people aren't going to be very happy if they have to wait 10 minutes or more to place an order.
1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sick of the confirmation time... on: March 18, 2015, 10:20:24 PM
I have noticed that lately the confirmation times have gotten a bit random, sometimes they take forever and sometimes it's extremely quick, that said I've been using Bitcoin a lot more lately.
1573  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK residents, in Light Of George Osborne's plans we want to know your thoughts on: March 18, 2015, 09:47:30 PM
I'm going to have to read through all this before I can even begin speculating on what they've got planned nevermind give my opinion, you'll have to bear with me if they're bringing in new legislation.

You know what, I think this thread just traumatised me with information about masturbation I really didn't want to know.
1575  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If Ayn Rand never existed Bitcoin might actually be bearable. on: March 18, 2015, 01:28:08 PM
Exactly, you can't just dismiss mathematics, I learned this a long time ago, when Marxists and Communists have a mathematical solution to the problems they perceive with Capitalism I'll gladly listen to them, because until then they're just whining. That said, I do think that anti-austerity protestors and the like are worse because they just want this bullshit to continue and only care about themselves, they're the most selfish ones of all because even if they economy is destroyed as long as they get their pensions and pay they're happy, but mainly, it's just the pensions they give a fuck about.

Very true. I think every sensible housewife could tell to the politicians what to do when the family income isn't enough. Yes, get a better job, or get a second work, but until that's done immediate austerity measures are needed to keep things floating. (Of course banksters are offering an alternative by using credit cards and keep spending happily, but everyone with some minimal common sense knows how that will end.) According to my past experience only the kids used to make anti-austerity protests and supporting the use of credit cards... Smiley

Kids know that they're the ones who are going to have to pay for everything if the anti-austerity protestors have their way, that's why most of the protestors out there are all old or middle-aged, the rest are Anarchists etc. who are pissed off that they're being shafted so the older generation doesn't have to deal with the consequences. This kind of thing is precisely why I support cryptocurrencies, any money I get is not going to get robbed by people who want it now so they can spend it on whatever the hell they like, when these guys are going to honestly pay for the healthcare and pensions that they want then they'll get my money.
1576  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If Ayn Rand never existed Bitcoin might actually be bearable. on: March 18, 2015, 11:56:08 AM
That is precisely why I'm getting fed up of the anti-capitalist rhetoric, not all rich people are con-artists, some are just either incredibly lucky or have worked very hard to get where they are, adding to that, to try and get rid of capitalism you're trying to get rid of basic mathematics and that's about as impossible as trying to defy the laws of physics.

As I grown up in one of the so called commie states I've seen how the economy felt apart from the very bottom to the top because of the lack of the very basic maths and psychology. The marxist economy is destined to fail by design. IMO those hard working first and second generation "capitalists" used to move the world forward.

Exactly, you can't just dismiss mathematics, I learned this a long time ago, when Marxists and Communists have a mathematical solution to the problems they perceive with Capitalism I'll gladly listen to them, because until then they're just whining. When you find a solution to one of these problems you care about so much that doesn't involve exortion or emotional blackmail feel free to post it and I'd be happy to support you.
How do you feel about eating the rich? Not shooting them, just feeding them alive to the millions of starving poor created by their greed.

I know a couple of rich people who was working really hard for decades to get rich. Some of them was even working at night too just to get some job done for the deadline, some of them kept working almost all day on some designs or inventions. In the same time "the poor" was hanging around the pub and kept joking on these blokes. Finally these guys got (sometimes extremely) rich and now "the poor" in the pub condemning them for being bloodsucking capitalist.

Quote
Anti-austerity protests in Germany broke out into violence on Wednesday as authorities clashed with left-wing protesters who were demonstrating against the opening of the European Central Bank’s new headquarters in Frankfurt.

No Gods, No Masters! I'm not surprised to see Anarchists getting pissed off at people who are actually protesting for more government control in their lives.

That's even worse, nice work, you're saying to the poor they should essentially become cannabals? Nah, also, blaming the rich is a tired old tactic used by anti-capitalists to create a scapegoat rather than actually fix the problem and frankly, everyone knows what's causing the huge cap between the rich and the poor, it's hyperinflation. However everybody's too happy with the current system at the moment of screwing over their children in order to get a fancy house to care.
1580  Other / Politics & Society / Re: If Ayn Rand never existed Bitcoin might actually be bearable. on: March 17, 2015, 10:53:20 PM
As an Anarchist I have no objections to you gathering people together to solve any of these problems, if people think they have a solution then they should go and do it, the problem is the majority of the time whenever I hear people talk about how to solve our greatest challenges in society it always involves shooting somebody or throwing them in jail.

When you find a solution to one of these problems you care about so much that doesn't involve exortion or emotional blackmail feel free to post it and I'd be happy to support you.
