1581  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BitQuick.co: How's it doing now and days? on: June 09, 2016, 12:44:24 AM
Well when I've used localbitcoins, there seemed to be a multisig escrow where the buyer and seller have to verify the transaction was completed and then the 3rd party releases the bitcoins... so there seems to be somewhat of a middle man.  I looked at BitQuick earlier today and it seemed that they had lower markup rates than localbitcoins, but didn't know if it was still considered "scammy" and didn't want to take a chance in losing out.

I've also had uncomfortable situations at the bank where I've gotten question as to who I'm sending it too because I usually don't have an account at that particular bank... I just wish I had a bitcoin atm around where I live... would make life so much easier lol.

I've done several transaction with Bitquick. You're initial wariness is common, and often warranted when it comes to any crypto transactions. I was the same way, so my first transactions were small, under US$100. That said, over those several transactions my experience was always straightforward with no hint of anything untoward. And nobody at the few banks/CUs I used ever asked me who/why I was depositing. If they asked I was just going to say I was buying digital goods for my kid's online gaming. But nobody asked. And I think if I told them, they wouldn't care. These types of transactions have become more common I think. Wouldn't worry too much ...

Yeah, Betcoin has a lot of shills trolling the threads. I have two problems with the place. First, I've visited about 4-5 times and I just never got a good vibe for the place. It just has a mechanical feel to it, and I can't help but sense it is full of these full-time semi-pro bots and multi-accounters. Second is that they tout a supposedly attractive rake back scheme. I'm an occasional player who doesn't like to be roped down to one place, so rake back doesn't benefit me. Thus when I sit at Betcoin I'm paying rake to my opponents, who just nit it out ad nauseum. Again, an unappealing game. You see, these rake back schemes attract some players, and repel others. For better or worse, I'm repelled. No thank you.

... maybe you're not playing at the right places.I still know a couple of sites where people only come for poker and chat's are always poker talks.

Ok, now you are teasing me. Where do you like to play?

I play a bit at Nitrogen, Fortunejack, and look in at SWC from time to time. Beyond that I'm sort of at a loss.
1584  Economy / Gambling discussion / State of Bitcoin poker on: June 08, 2016, 09:18:23 PM
Is it just me, or does it really appear as though bitcoin poker activity has slowed down quite a bit? I recall in the heyday of SWC, when essentially everyone played at the same place, and bitcoin was relatively new and undervalued, that SWC always seemed reasonably busy. By reasonably busy I'm guessing around 300 players logged in, give or take. Now players are spread across multiple sites, such that they may congregate on one site for an hour or so if there is a big tourney running, but otherwise this same, fairly static community has since dispersed their play across multiple sites such that rarely does a site have +300 players like SWC used to enjoy on a daily basis?

Is Betcoin an exception? I don't really play there so I don't know for sure. Last I logged in a couple weeks ago things were surprisingly slow. Was the bitcoin poker community better served when there was only one place to play? Or am I just nostalgic?

When augur begin trading ?

They are targeting for later this year, but no firm date as of yet. You can monitor progress on reddit/augur.
1586  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcoin Issue on: June 08, 2016, 08:42:59 PM
I am glad it was resolved and understand the security. Scary though

Keep the initial rudeness in perspective too: hackers and thieves do call and impersonate the victim in order to expedite or facilitate their withdrawal theft. Your account was momentarily flagged, and at that point the customer service people shouldn't take at face value it is you until they know for certain that indeed it is you.
1587  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: June 08, 2016, 12:56:19 AM
This is a long thread guys, forgive me for not reading, but I think others are in my boat:

A. Is there an expected date/timeframe for MTGox bag-holders to see their reimbursement?

B. All told how much BTC is expected to be released with that event?

C. Have the authorities outlined a process for handling of unclaimed assets, i.e. accounts that nobody has spoken for? Would they just send the coins to the last known good address? Lol ... that would be funny ... nevermind, forget I asked that.
1588  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BitQuick.co: How's it doing now and days? on: June 08, 2016, 12:45:53 AM
I've used Bitquick in the past, prior to their shutdown. Recently I was perusing localbitcoins and saw a number of supposedly very seasoned traders who offer much better prices via bank deposit. In other words, to sell BTC one sends them BTC (?) and they deposit cash to your account. Similar to Bitquick, but ... well, I've never used localbitcoin yet but my understanding is that there is no middleman. So, it appears that deals are priced better on localbitcoin but there may be much less security?

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has sold btc via localbitcoins, i.e. sent their btc to the seller who in turn has pledged to deposit cash to your bank account. For small amounts I would use localbitcoins for this if I can get a better price. If my memory is correct I was eating around 7-8% in markup and fees to buy btc via Bitquick.
1589  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Coinut.com - The only Bitcoin Options Exchange [beta] on: June 05, 2016, 01:40:52 AM
Finding market makers wasn't necessary. All they need some funds to make markets highly liquid by themselves. After this first step, traders would resonate with the market and market makers. Otherwise waiting market makers to establish liquid markets would be a low probability dream. Always the founder of the exchange should give the first liquidity to the markets.

Well, making markets in btc options isn't as easy as you suggest. Coinut doesn't have the expertise in house: my impression is they are newly graduated IT geeks with minimal trading experience. So they would need to source one or more third party market makers. Apparently they have one, but this MM is of limited commitment/capability.

At the end of the day, owners have been honest, the site is still functioning, and I'm sure they are still casting around looking for some liquidity providers. I know Mr. Wang is native to China so I'm sure he has even been looking for mainland-based market makers. And of course Singapore is a financial center for SE Asia so there are large institutional MMs based there. We may find that BTC runs to above US$1k again, markets get more active, and then an MM or two takes another look at trying to provide better liquidity on Coinut. I haven't given up hope, and still revisit here from time to time ...
1590  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Coinut.com - The only Bitcoin Options Exchange [beta] on: June 04, 2016, 03:06:37 AM
These guys have a good service, and well designed website, and have always been honest with everyone. Problem is they haven't been able to find anyone able & willing to stand as market maker across many strikes, and/or attract volume. I think it is tough given that there are so many ways to lever one's position in BTC that for most of us options are not essential. They are nice to have, but not absolutely essential.

Anyway, I made some money on this site, and Mr. Wang was always honest me and everyone I knew who traded here, so thought I should speak up.
1591  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Texasholdemallin.com] ★ Texas Hold'em for the lucky ones ★ always All-In ★ on: June 01, 2016, 08:33:46 PM

hi Indamuck

thx for visiting here

let me ask you now what you mean with the Omaha idea you had. because of Moneypot API we can't offer a regular poker game. please explain how you would like to see the Omaha game implemented here

thx

Well, most recently I've been practicing/learning Omaha8 hi-lo, where the pot is often shared between the best high and best low hands. Morever it is common to see chops for the low portion of the pot, and even chops for the high. So even in a regular Omaha8 game, live or online, it is common to go to showdown with 3-4  other people, and for each of them to win a portion of the pot. On top of that, for beginners it can be confusing to 'read' low hands, because low hands are read differently from high, i.e. cards cannot pair, they are read from the bottom up instead of top down, etc. So even experienced holdem players can get tripped up playing Omaha or Omaha8.

So for you I would implement Omaha and/or Omaha8 just as you have with All-in holdem. Have a full ring and a heads up option. (Actually Omaha isn't really played heads up, so you will see more full-ring play.)

AND, you will want to make clear which hand won which pot at showdown, so that new players can study the hand outcome and in that way improve their hand reading skills. After showdown have a statement such as 'Player 8 wins High with two pair: Aces and Kings. Player 2 and Player 6 win Low with 75421' and give the gambler/player time to study the board, just like you currently do with All-in holdem.

TL;DR: Implement Omaha8 just like you have with All-in holdem. You might skip the HU option and just offer Omaha8 as a full ring - and make the Omaha8 full ring only six handed so the player/gambler wins more often.

Texas hold'em is my favorite game to gamble on and I am always looking for the best place to play it.  I just tried out your game today.  It's Texas hold'em all right, but I'm not a fan of the way it looks.  I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with it, but it looks kind of cheesy.

Thank You for the posting. I don't know what you mean with cheesy? Please let me explain that it is a Moneypot app and regular Texas hold 'em is right now not possible with the Moneypot ATI. That's the reason why we are offering the game as always all-in
it is a provably fair game and the lucky one will win

Good luck

I'm gonna guess the OP may have been referring to the graphics. The graphics could be cleaner, maybe better resolution ... sharper maybe? I don't build websites so not sure how that is done, but I think you get my point. Anyway, it is not a huge deal. It is a relatively unique game, certainly unique on Moneypot, and for those of us that enjoy playing it the graphics aren't going to get in the way.
1593  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jackpotracer presents ★★★Dust Lottery★★★DUST to BTC★★★ on: June 01, 2016, 07:44:41 PM
Hi Mr. Jackpotracer,

I was playing your All-in holdem game recently and thought it was fun. I'm a poker player so generally only like to get it 'in good,' i.e. with the edge in my favor. BUT if you did this game for Omaha or Omaha8 I could see playing as a learning tool more than anything else. With holdem it is very easy to rate starting hands - not a lot of mystery as to who has the edge pre-flop. But with Omaha games where each player is dealt 4 cards it is not as clear. It takes some experience & study to appreciate the subtleties around which hands are stronger than others. For beginners it can also be difficult to read the 'lo' side of Omaha8 hi-lo. So if you did these games for Omaha you could very well see poker players like myself playing them more for a sort of practice. In a way it would be cheaper for beginning Omaha players to donk around on a site like that, than to pay their dues at a real Omaha game.

Anyway that is what I was thinking when playing All-in holdem. If you Omaha I could see playing much more. ;-)

I'm wondering if any regular BTC poker players are playing here? Guys, what is your experience? If I'm already playing at Fortunejack, SWC, and Nitrogen, is there some reason to try this place out?
1595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lost & made around 3 BTC today on: June 01, 2016, 07:29:41 PM
Went from low to high, did bets up to 2 BTC on prime dice. Now I'm on 6.1 BTC. I had 6.9 BTC but I wanted to risk it and I lost. How bout you guys?

Now that you've had a go at Primedice, you might have a go at Moneypot. At moneypot you have several independent games utilizing the same house bankroll. So you can very quickly more your roll from one site to another. You can even invest in the bankroll when you are not playing. You can invest in the house bank roll while you play, lol. so that to some degree you recoup a small percentage of any losses you take. In the long run that should be better for your roll. Or at least it feels better when you take a loss, knowing that you are also sitting on the 'house' side of those losing bets.
1596  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature Campaigns: Worth The Time? on: June 01, 2016, 07:24:14 PM
What do you guys find to be the best way for utilizing Signature Campaigns, best methods, and is it worth the time and effort?

I find the best way currently available for dealing with Signature Campaigns is to just click the "ignore" on any user that participates.  If they are participating in such a campaign, then I assume that they aren't here to actually learn and share knowledge, so I'm not interested in anything they say or ask.

So far, I've definitely found that taking the time and making the effort to click that "ignore" link is worth it.  I find the entire forum to be more pleasant and useful now that I don't see any of the nonsense posted by Signature Campaign participants.

Wow, that is one of the best posts I've seen in a long time. Funny thing is, Danny won't even see this comment of mine because I just joined this sig campaign. These campaigns have both a positive and negative impact on the community and the boards. On the positive side, it gets is an effective form of advertising for crypto-based businesses. On the downside of course it encourages campaign participants to make vacuous posts in exchange for compensation. It will be interesting to see if more and more people take Danny's approach, will the popularity of sig campaigns begin to fall? Perhaps ...
1597  Economy / Services / Re: ★ Coinroll ★ Signature Campaign ★ on: June 01, 2016, 05:44:55 AM
I can't verify my account. I don't get the orange box. I just click on 'add' and nothing happens. :-(

*Investments in the gambling site's pool of invested funds earn significantly more than 5% per month, but also involve some risk. Since I already have 0.400 btc in the fund, I have more than enough to close this loan successfully after 30 days even if my investment should perform poorly.

Denied. bitcointalk.org doesn't feature any gambling sites, or any sites at all.

Funny, I was referring to moneypot, and today I see you active on the moneypot thread. Anyway, you want to parse semantics and say Moneypot is not 'featured' on bitcointalk, so be it. I don't need your money. I'm guessing you are likely already invested there yourself, so wouldn't make sense to loan to me, so that I can invest (more) there. lol.

1600  Economy / Services / 10% Bonus on Bovada BTC deposit rates on: May 09, 2016, 04:43:11 AM
Before you deposit BTC into your Bovada acct, consider just buying Bovada cash from me with a 10% bonus.

Example:

You originally aim to deposit $20 of btc into your account.

Instead you put that into escrow and meet me in a heads up table, where I will donk off $22 to you.
(I raise to $22, you reraise, and I fold. We can do it in smaller increments too, if that makes you more comfortable.)

Why am I offering this? I have $ tied up at Bovada, and I'd rather not have them mailing me a check.

Serious enquiries only pls, preferably via PM. If you just want to make conversation or snarky comments kindly find another thread for it.
