1601  Economy / Gambling / Re: SatoshiDICE.com - The World's Most Popular Bitcoin Game on: April 05, 2013, 09:05:12 PM
Technically, another "cheating" vector would be just to use site funds to keep betting on itself and winning (never really lose any money). Keeps the investors/public thinking there is activity, and also reduces the chance of others winning. Not saying this is happening, but it is possible.
1602  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 05, 2013, 06:14:21 PM
Why would any legitimate company let someone who talks to customers like that work for them?
1603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 3 BFL ASIC update. on: April 05, 2013, 01:23:12 PM
the 1.5THs isnt out of stock.  BFL simply cannot make it work cause they're a bunch of monkies over there.

Maybe it's because they banned private ownership of thermonuclear weapons?  Wink

This made me laugh so much. Thank you.
1604  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: April 05, 2013, 09:19:50 AM
I just replied to his thread.
To the best of my knowledge he never contacted us before.
Our phone number is right on our website so people don't have to start new threads on the forum.
Have questions?  Call Bitcoinstore.com at 1 (888) 586-6083

You just don't get it! The most effective way to get help from a company that provides an email (and phone #!) is to put an annonymous post on a forum that they might not see for awhile and not even include any useful information that even could help them in said thread

(/s if it's not odvious)

I'm tired of reading "coin base is a scam" "bitinstant is a scam" and now "bitcoin store is a scam" then it comes out they never contacted support and when support does find out the issue is fixed pretty much on the spot

Isn't it hilarious? This is bitcoinsupporttalk.org

terrible article - glad to see though that the author is pretty much unanimously slated in the comments that follow!

[apologies if repost!]

I was enjoying it until the very end where his summary of reasoning was based on "and maybe this will happen, and I don't think it should, so bitcoin will fail ALRIGHT!?". It read like a butthurt latecomer to be honest and I think I threw up in my mouth a little.

1607  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Just lost all of my Bitcoins on Satoshi on: April 05, 2013, 01:18:15 AM
holding bitcoins is a way much better wadge than playing satoshi dice

Bitcoin has indeed been the best investment of all bitcoin related investments so far. That said, some people do get lucky on SD.

Just lost all of my Bitcoins on Satoshi:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SpihGKmYgY

That's the way she goes.

How much did you lose
About .256 Bitcoins. Hopefully I can recover from this.

I feel ya, I lost 1 bitcoin earlier on. I can't believe how some people can recover from losing 500 bitcoins (someone recently lost about that much I saw on the sdice statistics thread)

I've often wondered if many of the larger bets aren't just bots run by the site itself to attract attention. TX fee is a small price to pay to appear to inflate share prices and increase popularity! (No, I don't actually think this is going on, but I can't say it wouldn't cross people's mind if they were running it)
1609  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 05, 2013, 12:39:28 AM
As someone who was scammer tagged for pulling this exact stunt as a prank in November 2012, I'm actually kind of pissed at Theymos for not following through. I'm also jealous of LukeJr, BFLJosh, BFL, and BetsofBitcoin. They pulled this stunt way better than I did. Bravo. You are far better trolls than I am.

The sad thing is, I didn't even have an escrow and never accepted money. Betsofbitcoin took money from the betters. That's actual scamming.
1610  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Negative Public Image on: April 05, 2013, 12:22:12 AM
It doesn't matter what you consider as part of the Bitcoin economy. Silk Road is, and will always be, an insignificant part of it.

Do you also think it wasn't responsible for bringing bitcoin's value up initially in 2009~2011?
1611  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 05, 2013, 12:20:08 AM
Matt, what does that pic mean?  I am afraid I am not well versed in internet memes and such.

It was intended to suggest that we are about to go down the rabbit hole and see how deep it goes.
1612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy getting raided by the IRS for not reporting income and capital gains. on: April 05, 2013, 12:18:16 AM
Tell this to your friend:

1) I put Fiat on MTGox
2) I buy bitcoin
3) I transfer bitcoin to my wallet
4) I sell bitcoin on craigslist for current price + 10%
5) I keep cash without the IRS ever knowing what's up! Smiley

footnote: clearly you can't go and buy a 2.3 million dollar house after you do that a few hundred times, but if you're wise you can always blend the money into your regular income (if you have any), if all you have it the bitcoin gig and you made a shit load of money, what the hell are you doing in the US still?

I have been doing that but with bitcoin getting so high now, I am worried about mom finding the cash stash and narcing me out.

Why would anyone admit to tax evasion to their coworkers or friends who are actively accusing bitcoiners of tax evasion?
1613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 05, 2013, 12:15:24 AM
• It is not clear whether or not Luke-jr is a BFL employee.  He continues to not answer when asked if he is/has received compensation from BFL. [3]  At the least, it looks like he's getting his order bumped to the front of the line.

CROSSPOSTING

Actually, it is pretty clear that Luke is an employee of some sort (contractor, etc.).  Phinnaeus Gage dug up this quote from Luke in the larger thread concerning this scam:

Quote
Butterfly Labs, of course, knows this fact because I have been working with them since early 2012 when their FPGA products were first released.

That's a direct quote from Luke-Jr.  It's also clear that he is being compensated by BFL in various ways and that he is helping them to develop the shitty prototype he claims is a finished product.  He refused to answer questions as to the nature of this compensation.

In the same thread, Luke-Jr. also said that he talks to Josh Zerlan every day between midnight and 2:00 AM.  I really don't know why you guys keep trying to engage with Luke as if he is going to correspond with you in good faith.  It's obvious he is one of the co-conspirators of this scam.

Bogart, that is terrible what happened to you.  You have every right to be furious.  They stole a large sum of money from you.  There is no question it was theft, plain and simple.

1614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kickstarter has approved its first Bitcoin Project on: April 05, 2013, 12:07:58 AM
Emotional Diatribe

Did you even read my novel? There were some really good points in there. I feel they might have fallen on deaf ears though.

Criticism, skepticism and professionalism are not the same thing as trolling. Begging the community to fund your project that no one thinks is worth it is the free market. You not agreeing with it and calling everyone names when they don't pay you what you claim they should even if they don't like it is sure to catch people's eye in a negative light. Why are you surprised it has received the result it has with the presentation that is being given?
1615  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy getting raided by the IRS for not reporting income and capital gains. on: April 05, 2013, 12:01:17 AM
Capital gains only apply when you *sell* bitcoins. Tell your friend that you're planning on spending them, and that there isn't an IRS dedicated to Bitcoins yet because we pay a network tax instead and don't have a seastead to start our libertarian government up proper.
1616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kickstarter has approved its first Bitcoin Project on: April 04, 2013, 11:49:05 PM
I really hope this isn't representative of the whole community or else we're all screwed.  not just me, everyone...

I sincerely hope it *is* representative of the whole community to remain skeptical and recognize that someone is making a substandard copycat service that doesn't need an app and then requesting that they "pay even if they don't like it" (way more than necessary at that), and logically deciding to pass on the offer. You need to rethink your position on some things if you expect "the community" to support you, or you will be the only one screwed my friend.

There are numerous free projects made by many generous people in this community. None of them spam their page every either post, none of them make narcissistic comments about their own work on a regular basis, and none of them are "shocked" when people criticize their work. I have often wondered about you (remember when we argued about your reasoning behind having the name "The Founder", but not bothering to clarify what you are the founder of exactly?) being a bit of a manchild, but after the blackmail and claims of stolen funds without any comment from the affected parties, you're beginning to look like me last year, starved for attention. Just calm down, accept the criticism, ask for advice, and move on. It doesn't take a "master troll" to recognize when someone is acting foul.

EDIT: While we're on the subject, getting accepted to Indiegogo or Kickstarter is not complicated or particularly difficult. I don't know why you keep saying it is. As long as it's not illegal or overly self-serving content, it's fine.
1617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Negative Public Image on: April 04, 2013, 11:43:13 PM
@OP: The entire purpose of starting Bitcoin Magazine was to combat the mass media smear campaigns with grounded materials. Only now are they beginning to actually investigate (somewhat), but you know, it's easier to point and laugh when you don't understand. Koreans do it to foreigners all the time still.

vvvvvvv yes, actually, he mentioned SilkRoad which has always been the biggest volume site for bitcoin. Just like internet and porn, SilkRoad made Bitcoin.

1619  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 3 BFL ASIC update. on: April 04, 2013, 11:04:34 PM
why do all of them do nothing?

Everyone wants to stay behind their computer and bitch on an internet forum.

1. NO CASE. You will be amazed just how horrible of airflow ANY case provides compared to an open air solution
I honestly don't know why you would ever suggest this to anyone. It is common knowledge that a case helps with airflow by directing the cool air and hot air to proper channels, whereas no case would be like just blowing a fan at your entire computer.
