1621  Economy / Economics / Re: World economy is now being powered by cryptocurrencies. on: September 04, 2023, 10:40:46 AM
Cryptocurrency does not help many people richer, does not help a nation richer.

It mostoy help scam founder, developer teams and scam influencers richer. Many newbies, investors lost money in cryptocurrency.

They even buy bitcoin, that looks a good decision, but stored bitcoin on centralized exchanges and lost coins to scam exits, bankruptcies or scams from close source custodial wallets.

We know that every coin has two sides, so cryptocurrencies should not be taken for granted as something that contributes to the world exclusively in a good way. A large part of the "crypto industry" is actually a factory of lies and deception that generate huge profits for those at the top of the pyramid, while the rest try to pick up only the crumbs, hoping that they will get lucky with some project that they will invest in at an early stage and that will turn into something extremely profitable.

The OP is simply too optimistic and does not see (or does not want to see) reality, which is unfortunately much different from the illusions he is talking about.

This is what happen when someone is only understand about the theory than practical.

I live in a country where the minimum wage is $400 and I will break down my daily spending. Let's say every Bitcoin transaction cost for $0.5 every transaction, in the morning I need to buy a cup of coffee for $0.75 and a sandwich for $1, in the afternoon I need to buy fried rice for $1.5, then in the evening I need to buy cookies and bread for $1.5, I also visit a gas station to buy fuel for $5.

This mean my daily spend is $0.75 + $1 + $1.5 + $1.5 + $5 = $9.75, this what the cost if I pay using cash or digital cash.

If I pay with Bitcoin, then my daily spend would be $9.75 + ($0.5 x 5) = $12.25

Which one is cheaper, using cash or Bitcoin for daily spending?

I think we already had a discussion on this topic and that it is obvious that Bitcoin payments (on-chain) when it comes to microtransactions is really not a practical or cheap way of payment. As an alternative solution there is LN, or even some of the altcoins that have cheap fees (or none at all). In economies where every penny counts, saving a few dollars a day can mean a lot.
1622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How can we support Bitcoin if Satoshi demands life sentencing for non-violence on: September 04, 2023, 10:09:21 AM
Am an OG Bitcoiner slowly coming around to the fact that Craig is Satoshi.   I was not extremely early (nor successful) but have been buzzing around since 2012  nonetheless.
~snip~

I wonder what it is with you so-called OGs who wake up one day and decide to make fools of themselves after all that we could hear and read over the years when it comes to Faketoshi. There are people who believe in solid facts, and then there are those who believe in fairy tales, which is nothing bad if you are a 5-year-old child.

Nevertheless, for consolation, you are not alone in your beliefs, even the famous Gavin Andresen at one point shared the same opinions as you, which is even more strange considering that he is a man who was one of the closest associates of Satoshi Nakamoto. It might be a good idea to contact him (send him a PM on the forum) and ask him if he still feels stupid because of his statements.

If none of that helps and you still think that Faketoshi is the real Satoshi, I suggest you move to Colombia, because there they still think a little differently than the rest of the world.

Scammers won't mind kicking those who are already down

You are absolutely right, these are not compassionate people who choose their targets and they don't care if their victim is someone who has only $100 or someone who has $1 million. However, those who send such e-mails are nothing more than ordinary vultures who hope to pick up the remains of what is left behind by the Kwon-Bankman scam pandemic, and you should not be surprised at all that you receive such e-mails, because I also often receive e-mails from various CEXs, although I only registered on one once upon a time.

The best advice that everyone should apply is to never click on links in e-mails until they are sure that they come from a legitimate source - and we can easily find this out by checking the sender's address and comparing it with the e-mail address that is always on to a legitimate website.
1624  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Mixing coins through exchanges on: September 02, 2023, 01:54:32 PM
It is possible to mix coins through exchange ?
~snip~

As others have already written, it's a bad idea that doesn't achieve anything positive, and even threatens your privacy even more because most CEX require KYC.

If you don't want to use mixers for some reason, then you can try to make several wallets (5 or 10) and mix coins by sending transactions between them. It also won't completely protect you from all these companies that sniff and analyze the blockchain, but if you have some coins that you think could be "suspicious", then this way of "mixing" can give you a certain security in case you send such coins to some centralized platforms that perform deposit analysis. I can't say how deep they go in their analysis, but they probably won't look at more than 10 transactions in depth.
1625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope is all I have left on: September 02, 2023, 01:28:25 PM
Can 1Sat ever be 1 Cent one day?

If someone were to search the forum for the question you are asking, they would find dozens, if not hundreds, of discussions asking the same question. Recently, someone opened a topic in which he asks just that - and 6 pages of discussion will give you some sort of general view of what the members think about it.

Can 1 satoshi be worth $1 in the future?

Is there any hope for small Bitcoin buyers like myself?

There is always hope, you just don't need to be so focused on just one thing in life, because you might miss an opportunity that could actually change your life for the better. What I want to say is that you cannot expect Bitcoin to save you in such a way that you will live better in x years, even those who have much more money for such investments cannot expect that.
1626  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do members switch campaigns always? on: September 02, 2023, 01:01:05 PM
My question is why do members move from one campaign to another?

It's the same as asking why people change jobs, or why they go to different restaurants or shops - everyone has their own preferences that make them choose what to promote at a certain moment.

But I have seen where members go from better pay rates to the ones with lower rates and lower posts requirements.

For some, it's not all about pay rates, but also about what they promote, and if the differences in pay rates are very small, then it makes sense to choose a campaign that is less demanding, regardless of whether that campaign pays less.

Three years is like a lifetime, both for the campaign running and the member who remained faithful to it.

I was also in one campaign for more than three years and I don't see anything strange about it - you have excellent conditions, an excellent campaign manager and you are promoting something that you think has benefits for the community.
1627  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The elite Club finally here average person can become illuminati on: September 02, 2023, 12:40:21 PM
To me, this looks like someone who watched too much of The Da Vinci Code, and then got the idea to enter into a business venture in which he will try to establish an "elite club" in which he will charge $77 a month because that is the number that represents "divine wisdom and enlightenment." and everyone in the club will be happy and rich.

I'm not going to any illuminati club, I'm going to have a good time tonight and I'll be happy to spend $77x2 on some much better things Cool
1628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Spot Bitcoin ETF Approval Odds Rise to 75% (Bloomberg) on: September 02, 2023, 10:40:45 AM
~snip~
In any case, the only thing I wonder is the effect that the approval of an ETF in USA could have on the bitcoin price, otherwise it is ETF after all and that is not the way we want bitcoin to be adopted... so it isn't really something we want to be excited about.

If we look realistically at how an average Bitcoin investor thinks, then we don't need to look for any additional explanation as to why so much dust is being raised around this ETF. The whole thing revolves around the fact that most people are counting on BlackRock and other companies of that type to cause a big bull run, and all that remains after that is to sell BTC and take as much profit as possible.

Of course, these same people are counting on the fact that sooner or later the price will drop significantly again and that they will be able to repeat the whole process again, but the question is whether history will repeat itself with such big players in the game.

What should also not be forgotten is the position expressed by BlackRock regarding possible forks, and this opens up a completely new dimension in terms of how they think about it - which leads to the conclusion that at some point they may even try a fork of their own.

1630  Economy / Reputation / Re: BD Crypto violates forum rules and should be banned. on: September 01, 2023, 01:58:53 PM
It will be interesting to see how the accused will try to defend themselves considering all the evidence presented, and I wouldn't be surprised if they try to ignore the whole thing and hope that the mods won't see enough evidence for a permanent ban.

On the one hand, I understand that some members think they can do whatever they want because they are online and nobody can do anything to them (which is not true, of course), but I don't understand that someone who wants to cheat the system can be so naive as to use the same coin addresses or profiles on social networks on all profiles...

Nice work @lovesmayfamilis.
1631  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: September 01, 2023, 01:30:19 PM
You do not quite understand what the "Russian world" is. Terrorism is a part. Moreover, this is the "womb" of all world terrorism. And in this case, there can be no negotiations ...
The second feature of the "Russian world" is total lies and deceit. Russia does not fulfill any treaty if it suddenly stops liking it. Moreover, it will openly lie - and we comply.
~snip~

I understand that phrase very well, because I felt on my skin what the phrase "Serbian world" meant when they tried to create a Greater Serbia in 1991, and they partially succeeded in that by occupying 49% of the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which today is practically part of Serbia, although still not formally on paper.

If you look at what happened then in the area of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, you will see that Russian tactics are almost identical to Serbia's, whether it is the political or military action of both countries towards their neighbors.

What happened in my country should never happen in Ukraine, namely that 99% of all crimes were amnestied, and that war reparations were never paid, and that those who participated in the worst crimes became part of society. That's why I said that real peace and justice can only be achieved if you drive away the aggressors by military means, but for that you will have to pay the highest possible price.
1632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI stops Qakbot and seizes crypto in the process on: September 01, 2023, 01:14:59 PM
This is my first time reading about Qakbot, never knew what it was used for. The fact FBI is continuously and rigorously working on seizing as much Crypto as possible is scary and funny at the same time as I am not able to understand either they are against it or they just want some of that to be owned by the USA Government? I mean they can just simply buy more Crypto or Bitcoin instead of spending that much budget on Military's.

You are asking a beginner's question as if you have never read on this forum or elsewhere that all cryptocurrencies seized by the American authorities will sooner or later be auctioned and sold. Officially, the matter is very clear, cryptocurrencies are sold and the money goes to the state budget.

You know what's even more ridiculous about your statement? That do you think that the US should give up investing in its military budget and thus buy a bunch of shitcoins or Bitcoins and then use them to defend itself in the event that there is a threat to national security Roll Eyes

A question for you - how much BTC could the US buy if all the money from the military budget was diverted to Bitcoin?

President Joe Biden has signed the Fiscal 2023 National Defense Authorization Act into law allotting $816.7 billion to the Defense Department.
1633  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2023-08-22] Bitcoin Mining Startup Raises $13 Million to Turn Trash Into BTC on: September 01, 2023, 10:55:18 AM
Well, the methane gas that are being produced are going into the atmosphere and it is going to waste. If you can use that to generate electricity and that is more environmental friendly than burning coal or in some cases Diesel generators.... then that is a positive thing.

There is logic in using such gas, but those who constantly attack Bitcoin using the environmental vector will not say that this is something positive if we know that they focus on Bitcoin consuming electricity like a smaller country. They don't even care that the losses in the electric network on an annual level in the world are about 50 000 TWh, but they are worried about the absurdly small 200-300 TWh consumed by BTC during the whole year, and at least 50% of that comes from renewable sources.
1634  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Coup in Africa: What is the economic effect? on: September 01, 2023, 10:41:50 AM
~snip~
But some countries have chosen the position - let's negotiate, let's sign agreements with terrorists. You cannot communicate with terrorists. But the understanding of this comes late, and now for 2--5-10 years some African countries are waiting for very difficult times....

The saying "We do not negotiate with terrorists" is well-known, but I think that after the withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan, it became completely meaningless, considering that the terrorists became good guys literally overnight. Even your president is starting to change his rhetoric a bit when he talks about possible political negotiations with a "terrorist state" when the conditions are met, referring to successes in the military field.

If we take into account the number of people who die in this war, negotiations are something that is logical and humane, but on the other hand, until the Ukrainian soldier stands on every meter of Ukraine and drives away the occupiers, we cannot say that Ukraine has succeeded.

Africa has always been exploited in the past, and this is the case even now, only Europe may not do that anymore, but Russia will take the main role - and the people who live there obviously do not understand that they must free themselves from all foreign influences if they finally want to start living as the rest of the world.
1635  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to join best bounty and earn money? on: September 01, 2023, 10:25:54 AM
The concept behind bounties is their teams use tokens that can be minted from thin air to run their bounties as bounty rewards. Even bounty hunters receive those promised tokens from bounties, they still have risk that those tokens mean nothing on the market in value.

A bigger risk for bounty hunters is, teams are free to run away and refuse all responsibility to distribute tokens at the end. If their fund raising process is failed, if their project is flagged as scam by communities, they will have no reason to even spend ETH or BNB as transaction fees to distribute zero value tokens.
~snip~

It seemed unfair to me from the first moment I heard about bounty campaigns, and that's why I've never participated in such things because the risk factor is simply too great compared to the possible reward. The problem is that most of those who participate in such campaigns do not understand this risk and are often disappointed in the end when they receive nothing or some worthless tokens.

Regardless of the fact that some will disagree because they have personal financial benefits from all of this, I somehow look at it as using those who are desperate enough and also uneducated as cheap or even completely free labor. We can also call it modern internet slavery without any reservations, no matter how ugly it sounds.
1636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI stops Qakbot and seizes crypto in the process on: September 01, 2023, 10:10:27 AM
Ransomware has a lot of time to proliferate and flourish before it gets on agency's radars. First it actually has to do some damage before it gets taken down, like we saw with (I think it was called) Zeus botnet take-down.
~snip~

No matter how you look at it, it really took them a long time to do something, not to mention the fact that those behind that bot network probably started several bot networks in that period, and some of them are probably still functioning today. It's an eternal game of cat and mouse, and the cat is happy because it caught the mouse, regardless of the fact that countless mice are still around it.

I couldn't agree more, wasn't that clever of them? What the FBI seized was only but a fraction of what they have stolen from people in 2008. If randsomware has been going since 2008 just think of all the crypto in addition to USD funds I mean it's got to be billions and billions we are talking here.

I'm somehow convinced that much more damage was done through fiat than through cryptocurrencies, because at the time when the bot network was supposedly created, Bitcoin didn't even exist, and it wasn't until 2017 that BTC made its way into the mainstream and became popular with hackers. Even today, the number of people who own cryptocurrencies is below 5% of the total population, but there is no doubt that hackers exploit them much more than one might expect.
1637  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: What happened to Coinomi? on: August 31, 2023, 03:16:32 PM
I do not recommend Trustwallet

You are an expert already and you know what close source wallets are. If you need another alternative, use Trustwallet if the coins you are looking for is not on Unstoppable wallet.

I don't know how you interpret what you wrote, but for me this is more than a clear recommendation. You definitely recommend both wallets, only the second one as an alternative.
1638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WEIRD BITCOIN CONVERSATIONS AT GATHERINGS - SHARE THE CRAZIEST STATEMENTS MADE on: August 31, 2023, 02:44:12 PM
After spending hours watching the market, making trades, and building up your Bitcoin, you might want to hang out with friends or go to gatherings. While some of them know about your activities, others might not. You might have had conversations or something might come up about Bitcoin.

Did any crazy things come up during these talks?

Did someone say investing in Bitcoin is silly?

I'm sure a lot of you have interesting stories to share. Tell us about your experiences!

Without fooling ourselves about what people are talking about Bitcoin, the fact is that most people don't understand even the most basic things, and the others don't even try to understand because they think it's all one big scam. Therefore, it is strange to me that people at their gatherings, after everything they do online, still think that it is normal to talk about Bitcoin and not about some much more relaxed topics that go better with good food and drinks.

In addition, talking about Bitcoin in public today is not the same as it was ten years ago when it comes to your safety. Be sure that when you talk about Bitcoin there are always those who do not have the best intentions, and if you show that you know something more than what the average person knows, you will certainly catch someone's eye.

I'm really interested in how much it would take for someone to earn $1, while adhering to all the rules, especially those regarding spam and the quality of posts? I don't see that it can succeed in the way the owner envisioned, because it is too much work for so little money, and I believe that even the most stubborn spammers will not see their opportunity in this.

I'm really surprised that you give such a recommendation at all, considering that Trust Wallet is also mentioned in the context of Libbitcoin Explorer and so far $900k worth of cryptocurrencies stolen. There is nothing trusted in that wallet except the name, and besides, the company that privatized that wallet is really shady, not to say a harsher word.

[WARNING] Wallets created with Libbitcoin Explorer (bx) are insecure!
