1661  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Rumors on: August 04, 2013, 10:12:49 PM
I would guess once Canary gets the promo units in hand ( or confirmation of how many are on there way) he will notify each GB in reverse order until all promo units are gone...
What time frame he gives for uptake, who knows, but I recommend people keep coins on hand to cover,
I can see lots of
`Please, am waiting for my TX, can you hold x 4 me`
and pressure will be  on the other side to move on to the other batches....
1662  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I am going to test a 7 port hub plus a custom psu on: August 03, 2013, 11:09:29 PM
Thats a 5V hub    aannnddd a 12V PSU HuhHuhHuhHuhHuh

You might not want to do that!

Edit: mixed up your links, me bad... I`ll leave it above just in case anyone else gets any crazy ideas

Why dont you just get a standard ATX PSU separate the 5V and 12V lines and solder the 5V directlty to the hubs.

Bonus : you have spare 12V for K16`s and  fans....

lol, yep im ordering one asic eruptor just to play with,,,pretty sure it will act like the klondikes with the cgminer,,, not sure on the raspi yet...even tho their pretty cheap now... where/how did you contact canary for a .55 one? through bitcoin forums?  thats a steal! was thinking btc guild,,or even on ebay for 67.00 now and i have a 10% off ebay coupon! WOOT! lol thx!

If your looking to run Block Erupters on the PI then I recommend Mine Peon as It only involves writing the SD Card and then putting in your pool details. Am sure it will be updated for the K16`s pretty quick as soon as the k16s are in the wild...

Thanks southerngent. That is where I bought the blockerupter usb from. Canary had a great sale over the weekend.

I'm using minepeon on my RasPi and it's working great!

I brought 25 so far with him and am hoping to double up in the next week or so, there are cheaper group buys but I have 100% trust for canary and he is g8 with shipping..

1666  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 02, 2013, 11:47:08 PM

BTW, still working on an installation tutorial for the USB LCD cgminer script. I'll hopefully do that today. I know some of y'all were having trouble getting Python and pyUSB set up, so writing up the installation steps is my next goal.

The code as been cleaned up for the most part. It's working well, but there's still a known issue with showing the correct pool in certain cases. Planning to fix that code today as well.

Thanx cardcomm, this will save me some headaches. (another person to add to my donation list (kano ur there too), when/if my serious miners arrive. Thanx 2 BFL and Avalon  Angry )
1667  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Rumors on: August 02, 2013, 10:35:58 PM
Hi everyone!

GOOD NEWS.

Friedcat meant that he can only guarantee up to 30% of the total number of Block Erupter USB ordered by my group buy:

347 * 0.3  = 104.1

So I can only order up to 104 units.

But this only apply up to 10th August. So after that Friedcat told me that I could order up to 100% of the total number of Block Erupter USB ordered previously.

So It looks like this will be 1 for 1 of the 1 btc price   Grin

Its all clear as mud..  Shocked
1668  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 02, 2013, 01:56:17 AM

Thanks to the pair of you, I will give it a try.  Grin

edit: looks like this will work, However am having probs with installing the python usb drivers, am over it for the moment and wishing I had another PI to play with that does not have my miner hooked up to. Maybe I`ll regain my enthusiasm in a few days and try again..   Huh

I know the feeling. I just got another Pi from Adafruit yesterday. Smiley

I'm going to try and make notes of the dependancies needed for this code since I plan to do a fresh install on the new Pi. Meanwhile, I THINK (sorry, still waking up) what I did to install the Python USB drivers was grab the pyUSB zip from:
https://github.com/walac/pyusb

and then did a:
sudo python setup.py install

I'll verify later today when bringing up the new Pi.

Getting closer lmao
could you tell me how you installed python, I now have 2 and 3 installed
python cgminerLCDStats.py returns syntax error
python2 cgminerLCDStats.py returns no module named usb
Am thinking I have really screwed it up and will do a fresh install

1669  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 01, 2013, 08:02:20 AM
The quick hack fix is to change the "8192" to "65433" in CgminerRPCClient.py
But cardcomm will tidy it up properly when he has a chance.

Major thanks to Kano for his invaluable assistance with my coding hurdles Smiley  I'm not gonna even comment on his hashing capacity, except to say it's sure gonna take the fun out of looking at my LCD showing my single Block Erupter...  lol

I'll finally off to bed now, but I'll be cleaning up the code tomorrow. Meanwhile, I've pushed Kano's quick fix mention above to github. The version there should work now, but still needs cleanup and the display layout won't match Kano's.

I'll post back again very soon once I've made the changes to clean up the code and update the display a bit. Hopefully within a day or two. I hope to add some nice additions eventually as well.

Thanks to the pair of you, I will give it a try.  Grin

cardcomm has been working on a python script to the API and I've been testig it for him also on my desktop.
I'll leave him to update you about the script when it's working, but I hacked it up a bit and also got it to display what I wanted Smiley
Pointing at my main rig:

Code:
[root@minepeon ~]# sudo python cgminerLCDStats.py
  File "cgminerLCDStats.py", line 89
    print "No summary data found"
                                ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax
[root@minepeon ~]#

complete linux newbie here....but trying to learn

Any hints  Grin

Should I be using python3 (or 2)
Edit : runs under python2 but
Code:
JSON decoding error - bad JSON sring:

1672  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [SHIPPING MONDAY] #15 ASICMiner Erupter USB - .55 btc 2000+ shipping on: July 30, 2013, 02:28:54 AM
At FedEx dropping off international orders. All but 1 FedEx went out. PM for the one went out. The rest will receive tracking numbers later.

All USPSes went out.  I think about 3 or 4 folks received a PM where there was an issue with transaction.  These will be resolved tonight still and head out in AM.

This was a crazy day!!  Grin

There are no extra units from today's delivery.

I will be receiving another large batch in 2-3 days from friedcat.

Received 2000 units and shipped them. All done in one day by Canary and elves! Wow! Smiley
Puts BFL to shame.  Cheesy
Perhaps we could have a group buy to buy out BFL and put Canary in as a community Manager.  Grin
1673  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: July 20, 2013, 11:59:05 PM
i find that very annoying that minepeon reverts to the donate pools after a reboot. i just accidentally mined for two straight days in someones else pocket.

Are you using sudo shutdown -h now command. It should not do that after rebooting ?.

 Reboot or reflash ?.
I wondered about this, as I have been just pulling the plug which is probably responsible for the death of 2 of my SD cards (they were cheap).

shut down/restart in the webui would be a good feature at some point, I know you have a long to do list and its me just being lazy really. Grin
1674  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Upgrading a 3.5A adaptor on a USB hub on: July 20, 2013, 12:22:27 PM
That would look pretty slick. The less wiring the better!

Exactly, my current plan is 2 bfl LS, 3 K16`s, 1 Bitburner, 25 Block erupters, and 5 K1 nanos all of a single psu.

Then put all the psu`s in a draw for back up.

I have 12V 120mm case fans on order for cooling that I can run of the same source.

I have an 10 port orico(anker) at the moment but no go on rpi so has to be replaced. This seems the best option, let the suckers have all the juice they want..The PSU has 28Amps on the 5V rail so should be good for 50 USB`s  Wink

1675  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Sales] K1 Nanos - Big Picture Mining Cooperative on: July 20, 2013, 12:10:41 PM
Am not sure if you remember, but somewhere on the klondike thread Chris suggested that a K1 (chipless) could be used to interface between usb and k16`s.  I like this idea of reducing the k16 workload with a K1. Would you give some thought to a short production run for chipless K1's. Am not sure what the demand would be but am sure there would also be demand for diyer`s with a few chips left from their orders also.

Good Luck, I maybe ordering a few complete miners once the chips come in.. Wink

Edit : Just had a browse of the site, added a miner as it was priced at 0BTC shipping was 0BTC. I then increased it to 100 miners still 0BTC. Was tempted to try the rest of the checkout process  Grin

Try this K1 BOARD ONLY group buy for that... I am all for it... just need enough people and a round number 100? 1000?

Thanks, I need to pay more attention, I keep missing things as the forum is so busy these days.. Shocked

Am sure the GND will be fine, I see no issue with soldering some extra cable across the +5v terminals between outlets. I have a couple of cheap 10 ports on order to experiment with. If all looks good I will power them of a 1200W PSU that I have brought for my K16's and post some pictures.

Will be G8 to have all my miners on 1 PSU as to avoid extra wiring clutter   Grin

They should get you up and going until I can come up with something better.

Newil

I tried this a few days back. I get as far as

5: wlan0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP mode DORMANT qlen 1000

ip link set wlan0 up

It returns state - unknown
I can switch it down again and state shows down.
At this point am over it for the time being, until my wife starts to moan about the miners in the kitchen again its staying on the lan..

T13,
Are you still planning to source boards or buy from Klondike (@$6 per board) and which pic will you be planning on using.
