801  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 12, 2013, 12:29:20 AM
I think the group buy leaders need to come together in a single thread and gather a list of questions for avalon to answer.

Am really not impressed with Avalon dumping the news and not sticking around to answer a few questions..

Like were are those HK chips??

Lets face it this ain't a few $$$'s were talking about...

Lets see some shipping and tracking info... Shocked
802  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] batch #20/21 .31 - .35 btc for USB miners & 10.25 blades - USA only on: August 11, 2013, 11:28:03 PM
I look forward to see whats going to happen with International orders Smiley

Or are they still possible?
friedcat has designated re-sellers to different regions/countries.  so if a buyer is from a place that has a designated re-seller, they should go to that re-seller.
I will honor and finish up any outstanding orders and requests, but in the future, buyers should go to their respective designated re-sellers.

I assume you will still handle coupons from previous auctions... This is a sad day  Sad thank you for the service Canary, It was a Pleasure doing business with you.
803  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 11, 2013, 11:16:19 PM
The reason we did not spend money on these is, in case Avalon chips never show up, we would be able to refund some of our customers money.

You should all think about this for a moment..

WHEN you buy from a company they have to deliver or refund.. ( unless its different in the US).

Otherwise this is just another group buy just with icing on the top..

+ to TH for posting pictures, - to TH for the above statement. Lets hope the chips come soon so you don't have to test the above statement.
804  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 11, 2013, 08:32:55 AM
cgminer 3.3.2 is in git.
Can you tell me at what directory is the cgminer @ RPI, to make the git pull? Thanks in advance.

/opt/minepeon as minepeon (not root)

I am also testing 0.2.3 for release in the next 24 hours.  Apart from containing the new WebUI it has OS privilege changes that allow the stopping/starting/killing and rebooting of the processes and the MinePeon by the new monitoring scripts.
Please don't forget to do a Arch Linux update, prior to release the 0.2.3 version...  Grin

Any news about some sort of exporting the settings outside of the SD (perhaps to a pen connected to one of the HUB's) to import in a fresh SD with new version of MinePeon?

I merged with the latest Arch today so we are good there.

Thomas is working on downloading a zip and uploading it.  It is one of the reasons for an image update.

Neil

Looking forward to this. Am not trying anymore Git pulls until my second Pi arrives. So am trying to be patient. I've been stable since going back to stock so it will be interesting to see if I have problems with the new Image and the I can finally get the display running permanently.  Grin
805  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 11, 2013, 07:27:44 AM
I am buying Avalon chip Pre-orders at 60% of the list price. That's 40% off what you paid. Please PM me.

Thanks
Curious as to if you get some response, I might consider them myself at 40 % discount..

southerngentuk is waiting for news of when/if there is another shipment for other batches.

Trying to be patient but have limited funds and those new prices are making me question holding out for coupon...

What to do ??  Roll Eyes
808  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Get a REFUND from Yifu for Avalon chips on: August 10, 2013, 08:04:07 AM
It doesn't matter what he has posted and promised. He is in breach of contract. Simple. Refund and Boycotts until he rectifies this situation. Anything less is a sign of weakness and allows him and Avalon to delay further. Sorry Avalon. Times up and we as a community need to grow some teeth and bite back. The time for sitting back and waiting for broken promises to be added to with more promises for delivery are over. The time was up 5 weeks ago when he failed to deliver on chips and development chips. Avalon needs to fix this with refunds now or suffer boycotts. We need to stand together. Backing down and giving him even one more day means we all run the risk of weeks and weeks and eventually months of delays in refunds and chip delivery. You missed the date your time is up it is now time to get REFUNDS and if compensation is not given BOYCOTTS should go into effect immediately. If you fuck with the community the community can fuck with your business. Simple as that.

I don't disagree, but whose going to do anything, if the community wants to send him a message then perhaps someone should post a poll with a set of options for action. He would no doubt see the results and may react before any action is necessary.
809  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 08, 2013, 11:02:06 PM
someone should put a bounty on this kids head if he doesn't smarten up

No.  That comment is out of bounds.

Actually it made my day. Finally someone not so spineless like the rest which are happy with what is going on.

Is this not how the Chinese handle things. I thought it was.  Shocked
810  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 08, 2013, 10:41:04 PM

What your describing sounds allot like a power issue for the RasPi. Especially the problems starting after loads of writes (pacman -Syu).

I used to get loads of corrupted SD cards and weird issues when I had my PI running of the same hub as the Erupters.
After moving to a dedicated 1A power suply the Pi has been stable.

I no is sounds exactly like those power issues, however the PI is the only kit with a dedicated power supply it runs fine through all the writes..
It was over an hour running before I thought hey I should give it a reboot.. then bam...put the image on a different card repeat.

I  think I wrote the image to 3 cards about twice each yesterday  Angry  I'll get to the bottom of it but I really need a second PI to screw with..
811  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 08, 2013, 01:25:56 PM
Guys, am having issues.....

Not all pi related.

I got a good quality SD Card today and started from scratch.

All was looking good until a reboot.
Am now convinced that the script for the lcd is good but issues start after..

sudo pacman -Syu

The system update seams to break peon. It runs ok till a reboot.
On reboot it starts - then reboots in a cycle. If I unplug the usb's it is stable until I plug a usb in. This was never a problem on stock Peon with my setup.

Am away tomorrow so will run stock until I return and will probably order a second Pi next week so i can test without disruption.

My issues have been complicated today by problems with pools going down, internet connections issues, my router playing up and firefox kept freezing on me.

So nothing is clear at the moment, everything to go wrong has and i`ll start a fresh next week..

Anyone else having issues???  Am wondering if something was changed with Syu since I last done it 4 days ago???
812  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 08, 2013, 08:21:09 AM

Your idea is great... i "invented" a cable, but I'm connecting the 10 ports HUB to the HD molex cable and 2 or 3 of the Gizmos were in error... perhaps not enaph current... Better to connect again to the Velleman 7,5 amperes PU.

I done almost the same as you, was just about to solder to them and then thought "That cable is way to thin for 5A"

If nothing else cut the leads down to a couple of inch's - its still a bottle neck though..
813  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 08, 2013, 07:39:18 AM
Yifu, please allow me to change shipping address of my batch of 10,000 chips.

That way, I can sell it to someone else without the need for escrow, as you or the website can confirm the change of shipping address.

Who wants to buy 10k chips? Ordered and paid last week of June. About 6 ~ 7 weeks ago. Fine, so they'll be late, but you still get them earlier than if you buy today.
I think TerraHash was looking to buy..
Ok guys, here's the deal. Given the current conditions (rising difficulty, Avalon uncertainty, etc.), a lot of people who ordered chips from Avalon are willing to resell their chips at cost price. This was not true a month ago or so, when we made a deal to acquire two additional orders for a premium (We never bought those orders, but only made a deal to pay a premium once they had chips in hand). We have decided to scrap those deals and instead buy chip orders from people who want to get out by selling their order for the price they paid. We have got 3 offers so far. We will re-open pre-orders after buying these.

We will keep you posted on this development.

Also, all these 3 offers are for May orders.
814  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Off-Topic on: August 08, 2013, 01:27:07 AM
lets just redirect our brain powers in pushing terrahash for answers...

Where are these overdue promised items:
1. Pictures of the DX Mini
2. Picture of a completed Klondike 16 w/ heat sink
3. Hashing rate reaching promised rate (not prototype.. i'd expect terrahash to have this down by now hopefully)
4. Invoice/POs of all components
5. Project timing for each step (project management style)

We're back to this again? It's only been a few weeks and we're back to demanding proof of things??

BUT

What I AM interested in, is whether or not Terrahash has performed all the obligations to their customers (less avalon chips) to fulfill the orders.
I cannot fathom why anyone would not welcome this request for common courtesy that we, the customers, are entitled to.
(unless some units were furnished with sample chip shipments received to certain individuals for crowd control perhaps? Like the Nazis provided preferential treatment to certain selected jews to keep them marching into the gas chambers)

Let me put it this way, my gut tells me that terrahash do NOT have everything they need to mass produce our orders simply based on the inconsistencies of their stories, flip flopping, misleading statements, etc they have publicly displayed thus far.

So let me once again invite Terrahash to clear its name in the public forum once and for all.
If Terrahash cannot, please refund all monies owed immediately as you are no where near meeting your obligations EVEN IF Avalon delivers tomorrow.

Therefore Terrahash is breaking the basic premises (not force majeure in this case, like you have suggested) for which we, misled customers, have willingly taken the risk to provide funds and await patiently for months, interest free.

Am torn here so I WONT comment, only to say BKK will have the new board hashing very soon, if TH has already ordered the revision he should not be far behind. That deals with point 2 & 3, a couple of pics would easily clear up the other points..

this Donation goes to Kano' address.....
...
Sorry I'm not understanding something here?
... I guess I better look closer in the minepeon code ...
Nope I'm not in there Smiley
... and no there's no problem with that, just when you said that I was thinking "eh?"

Not what I meant...I hope its Neils address, If he wishes to send some btc back, I would like him to send it to you as a donation for your contribution...Hope thats OK with you.. Grin

Why you stealing my coins Kano?  Tongue .

Actualy one of the thinks I want to do (if I ever get the sodding donate code to work correctly) is maintain a list of developers and worthy organisations so people can donate miner time to them.  I am sort of hoping we can turn into crowd funded employees.

Neil
Neil your not forgotten, you should have been getting some donation time before now, and the next one is yours, after that I really need to keep some for myself.   Grin

I have seen some options on the tor network that could resolve this issue. Shocked

It just needs someone to start a group buy, I doubt JohnK would do escrow for such a service thou.  Wink

this Donation goes to Kano' address.....

Sorry I didn't have time to pick up a new SD card yesterday, so I turned OFF donations!

So it looks like at donation time my PI is resetting? and its reinstating donation time to 5 mins (what I had set it too a few days ago before doing a gitpull) then gets stuck..

Would be nice to have current PI time displayed in the GUI and an option to set the time donation takes place maybe? this only happens after I have opened a bottle of johnnie walker..

whats the state of the git at the moment? I'll reinstall on a new card today should I avoid a gitpull..

Would you like me to send an image of the SD Card..

I'll get back latter to answer other posts as I have a few things to do his morning...
819  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 07, 2013, 09:10:08 AM

Did you make or bought the power cables from PSU to the HUB's? I'm also using one of those 10 ports HUB (with 9 USB Gizmos), with a Velleman multivolt, that gives 7,5 Amperes @ 5 volts.
Originally I ordered some 2.1mm connectors but they haven't arrived, being impatient I cut the 5V lines out of the molex connectors of the atx psu (bottom of pic) and soldered the 5V wires straight to the hub.. and plugged the fans into the molex (which now only has 12V lines).

ATX PSU has 28A @ 5V  4X 20A @ 12V (Reserved for K16`s)
820  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 07, 2013, 08:29:30 AM
Regarding MinePeon with USB miners:

Is there any limit of USB devices that it will auto-detect (other than the 127 standard USB limit)?

When removing or adding new USB miners do you need to do anything over than reboot?  (ie will it automatically detect that devices were added or removed and start using all available devices)

What USB hubs are you using with the Raspberry Pi to plug so many USB block erupters or any other ASIC miner?
I tried the Anker 3.0 USB - 10 port what looks awesome, fits perfect & are good quality but nobody ever got them running with the Raspberry and Minepeon - the internet & this board is full of it. This hubs are working pretty on Ubuntu but not with minepeon -> it crashes with errors after booting and restart.

The only working hub I have is the D-Lin 7 Port (stacking the hubs plus add a 120mm fan) but as this has 2 permanent USB ports for loading so it`s again not perfect as only 5 could be used for the USB block erupters or any other bigger farm on USB.

Couldn't miss the opportunity to post another pic...
I have cheap ebay hubs $6. throw away the psu's I soldered them straight to an ATX psu
