741  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: August 25, 2013, 10:31:26 AM

Ya... more of hope and prayer for all. I hate to see other people put in months of hard work and get screwed by Yifu this way. Maybe the BTC Gods will shine fortune on us all and there will be 500 BTC to the USD just as those DIY miners fire up.
Or Yifu may dump all that coin in them addresses and burn the lot of us..  Angry
742  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 24, 2013, 12:04:35 PM

Thanks for your help, southerngentuk.

I'm preparing a 0.2.2 MinePeon image, but with last version 3.4.0 of cgminer, LCDStats and MinePeon GUI, to see if the problem is from the newer Arch Linux.
no worries, just be cautious of the python usb, if its not the arch its has to be that. ( disclaimer : note am a newbie to linux so probably wrong)
743  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 24, 2013, 10:17:26 AM

I don't know how to do next... Trying to maintain this new version and see what happens next or going back to 0.2.2 and make all git pull's except to the Arch Linux. But don't know if that way, I still have the LCDStats python program started with the RPI.

Help me on this, Neil.
Go back to your last good SD card, assuming you rotate them like I do  Wink ok probably not.
Go back to stock, live without that cute lcd for a week or so and.......
do what I did, but a second PI, update and go through hub at a time transferring to the new PI

I bet 0.05 BTC it's a hub/arch conflict  Shocked edit : or hub/pyusb

---------------------------------------
My 0.2.3a has now been up for 1d 5h, has gone through the donation window without a hitch.. Grin

The suspect hub is happily mining away 0.2.2 with 7 erupters for the same time.. ( no donation, as its goes screwy )
744  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL MiniRig Line:Concerned on: August 24, 2013, 08:34:29 AM
I have Images in my head of someone opening that big minirig case
to reveal a single monarch cable tied to one side and 3 bricks to the other.

edit : 2 years from now....
745  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 24, 2013, 05:47:35 AM
0.2.3a is really unstable running 31 USB block erupters for me it crashes after about 2 minutes (HW errors build over until whole board is litup and miner unresponsive).

Like the new slick web interface though.

Rolled back to 0.2.2 everything working again.
Would you share what hubs you are using and maybe swap them about a bit if you have more than one type..and some spare time.
746  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 23, 2013, 10:58:52 PM
I had similar, before 0.2.3 was released I would pull and update arch and pyusb.
Everything would go ok and look good until a reboot then it would go all screwy.

I am sure a resent change in Arch or pyusb has created an incompatibility with some hubs.
747  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed]Avalon Chips - 0.081 BTC (Global+Escrow)-BATCH2 SECURED on: August 23, 2013, 12:55:32 PM
Smiley

Glad you could dump some pressure off, even if it's off-topic. I know waiting for something you've paid is killing you, but don't loose your nerve.

To answer your question, you will be able to overclock your chips, don't worry.

my thoughts exactly, hey were all a bit twitchy, and need to vent somewhere  Wink
At least t13 you take it in ur stride and don't attack ur customers like bfl does..

Now people can get off your nuts! Sheesh.. this coupon shit has been a disaster from the beginning
Yes it has.  I've told friedcat my opinion on coupons.

I cant wait to see how some of the other Group buys will handle more coupons, It could be a blood bath... Shocked

Edit : Just popped into ur other thread, didn't realize so much heat on the these.
751  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 23, 2013, 05:15:06 AM
and according to the thread above bitfury chip prices will be going up when sales reopen  Shocked

Up 270%!!!
That is why I asked Burnin about the overclocking to 5Ghash/s. Do the math, 2 to 5 is a 250% increase, but still less than 270%. Perhaps Bitfury are anticipating delays by some other manufacturers and hence lower difficulty rates (and higher prices)?
You got a link?
1BTC per GH/s is way over the top for a chip ...
They only cost like less than $10 per chip right?

  • BITFURY ASIC chips - $25 each

Hey yes.

Exciting that we're almost there on the chip order. Looking good for this to happen smoothly (fingers crossed). We have been considering a second chip reel, but i just found out the new prices and they have gone up dramatically, so it's not really doable. We are really lucky we got the chips for the price we did. They are around 270% the price now. We would have to put the prices up a lot for a second reel, so probably just sticking to the one. Only 800 to go!

Not sure why such a steep Increase, I guess we will need to wait for chip sales to re-open for confirmation on prices however if true Burnin should consider carefully before putting too much effort into new boards..
752  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 23, 2013, 03:52:53 AM
I really think there is an Issue with the new Arch and certain Hubs, Am short on ports until my new hubs arrive.
I will be able to runs some test and experiments once I have the new hubs.

Edit: I now have most of my set up on the good hubs running on 0.2.3(a)
the bad hub works perfect, running 7 erupters on 0.2.2 (completely unstable on 0.2.3a, and destabilizes the other hubs)

Glad I brought that second PI  Wink

Just one two questions...Will we be required to provide our own shipping label this time like your current sales? Are these labels good for International order ? , I tried a mock one and get errors on the zip code I guess because its a different format...

bitfury chip looks interesting - are these things available?

available 4 preorder  Grin

Well if you go to the site right now you'd see that what is available for ordering is just sample chips, so no bulk/ goup buys viable atm.

If ur quick you can get some in the drillbit GB Thread - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=266235.0

Running out fast... 600 left @ $25

757  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury DRILLBIT system on: August 22, 2013, 12:21:18 PM
Well it is a group buy for chips, with the addition of mounting on a card ! So much the same as the avalon format. I think most people looking to invest find their way to the GB threads..   Wink

Anyway, despite me saying no more Group buys ! I have a good feeling on this, delivery should be end of October, just in time for my birthday so I took the leap and ordered one.  Grin

$300 is nothing I will lose sleep over, and I think this is the key. Keep Investments small and spread them about.

Also they are within driving distance of me so I can come in the night with a big stick..  Shocked
758  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 22, 2013, 09:34:47 AM
im wondering if the arch Linux has updated a usb driver or something as I had been unable to get v0.2.3 running for more than a couple of minutes but once I read the last few posts and unplugged my 13 port USB hub it now seems to be running ok. my belkin hub seems to work ok.

does Linux have a USB hub driver? has it been updated since v0.2.2

oh and the exact same system has been running ok with v0.2.2 but it was crashing every few days.

maybe arch Linux doesn't like some hub chipsets. is there a command to see the details of the USB hubs plugged in.

does this sound possible?

also to the person who couldn't use past the 3rd port, I would suspect there is 2 or more chips in the hub of 4 ports each. and once you hit the second chip it seems to be funny.

Glad am not the only one..I can get 0.2.3(a) running but its like a disco on my erupters (22 randomly going idle) where as on 0.2.2 there 100%
759  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 22, 2013, 07:54:37 AM
have you tried wiring better power to the jaycar?

yeh, i got 2 of those 10 port ones with another 3 on the slow boat from china running on an atx psu. Hoping they arrive soon so I can finally get it sorted. There is very few options locally which is why I ended up with the one from jaycar.
yes, I shortened the lead to about 4 inches and soldered it to its own 5V rail on my PSU
(when i first got it I was gonna solder straight to the pcb, like I did with the ebay hubs, but didn't look to be easy so i closed it up again)

It was doing 7 usb's and now 3 so am sure it is screwed.. I think after 3 they do mine but they really don't look happy so I unplugged them asap.
760  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Linux mining distro for the Raspberry PI - MinePeon on: August 22, 2013, 04:09:05 AM

I agree......I have one with 9 erupters attached to a pi.......no problems.....I wired it to a PC PSU
