1661  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Awareness of scam on social media will help reduce scam on: September 06, 2022, 10:04:17 PM
In my opinion i don't see how social media can help to reduce scam, only people can help to reduce scam by informing other people how scammers work, all social media applications cannot upload awareness of scam on their app, social media applications are platforms for networking, people meet new people and strangers on social media, so there is no way they can now work against themselves by warning people not to network with one another.

It goes without saying that people should know offers that are too good to be true, and they should think twice before falling victims to scam, i don't feel we can hold any platform responsible for the rise in scam, even here in bitcointalk that's a bitcoin forum, it is the community that make up the forum that warns others about scam and scammers and not bitcointalk itself.
The only way that we can reduce scamming in all aspects is being educated and informed about scams, and knowing the investments well before you fall as another scammer’s victim. The social media is not responsible to make us aware, since we are all responsible of our own actions. But somehow, through social media, we get to learn and discover that this certain investment is another trap to fall us as victims.

The process of scamming people is a lucrative business. But we have to remember that every business needs a market, to sell their product. If we as end-users (commonly referred as internet users) do not discover scam plans and behaviors, then it will keep on existing and thriving. Social media are the most popular way of communication used in the present days. It is the best way to reach out more people with zero costs and fast speed. However, some pushers use such ways for scamming others by making use of their weakness. Well, we cannot stop scamming from existing on social media platforms. What we can do though is to be aware of types of scams, and avoid them altogether. But as always, we are also responsible for our own actions, and it is up to us to keep ourselves safe and secured when investing. Being aware, being diligent and exerting extra effort will significantly reduce the potential of falling into scams. There is no magic formula that will prevent you from scamming. However, by having all these in place, you have significantly increased your ability to avoid it. So please, be careful with anything you do online.
1662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins future is Bright on: September 04, 2022, 10:51:52 PM
There is no doubt about it. Bitcoins future remains just as bright as its past has been. With a community hungry for greater privacy and anonymity when transacting online, the demand for this digital commodity is sure to rise. The fact that Bitcoin can be traded in so many different ways and its transactions are so hard to link back to an individual have ensured that we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Bitcoin's true potential.

The future of digital currencies will become more and more evident over the coming years. Bitcoin already has the opportunity to establish itself as the "Iron Throne" of this new and exciting realm. There is so much potential to build upon. In its infancy, Bitcoin has led the way, but the road is far from over. There is much work to be done and the world is still waiting to see if Bitcoin has what it takes to emerge as the "World's currency" that its many advocates have long said that it has the potential to be.
1663  Other / Meta / Re: A brief study on contact information in the forum on: September 04, 2022, 09:36:30 PM
At the time SMF was one of the most popular open source software for building online discussion forums, these types of communication channels were also very popular. I remember using ICQ a lot. But times have changed, and now some other platforms have taken their place.

Conclusion: This forum software is really outdated and needs an urgent upgrade/replacement.
1664  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can you suggest a cryto spoortsbookmakers with a free btc giveaway on: September 04, 2022, 09:19:39 PM
It would be an amazing to read a success story who claims from faucets and make it big thru sports betting.

Yes. I am not sure that would be possible, but that would be amazing to read. Sports betting does not have very high odds, so it is hard to win an "astronomical" amount from the few satoshis you get from the faucet. Except maybe with some really big parlay bet.
1665  Economy / Gambling / Re: Punt.com 🦵💸 | Crypto's Finest Casino | FIRST EVER 0% Commission Dice Duels! 🚀🎲🔥 on: September 04, 2022, 08:34:01 PM
It was still as a result of offering free bonuses that led to the death of "Bitlucy" a new gaming casino whose signature campaign was once managed here few months ago "April 2022" by Royse777,
~

I was never interested in BitLucy casino, so I did not follow the whole drama, but I do not think they failed because of the free bonuses. I think it was because of the corrupt owner who lied to everyone, including their manager Royse. If the free bonus was hurting their casino, they could have simply stopped it, which I think they did not long after it was introduced. The real problems arose after the owner stopped paying or did not have the finances either for customers, or for staff, or for promoters they hired. But we are going off-topic here... you can read Bitlucy and long story in brief for more information.
1666  Economy / Reputation / Re: CPNpr Changed Hands? on: September 04, 2022, 07:59:39 PM
Ok, I think I've understood you. You were the first to tag them and you gave them the tag thinking they could desist from further promoting 1xbit but to no avail. Later on other neg tags visited them. It's all good, now we have confirmed they are truly promoting the scam company, maybe you could change the "trying to" to "promoting " or It's not even necessary because there are piles of other tags in their profile.

Trust ratings cannot be edited; they can only be removed and new ones created. But I do not think that is necessary, because he explained his reasoning at the time well enough.
1667  Other / Meta / Re: Strange "Anonymous" post, edited by Satoshi on: September 04, 2022, 07:44:08 PM
Reasonable enough, because after reading the op, I was beginning to wonder if moderators have the power to edit a user's post or comment even till this day, that would have been really really nice 😁 ~ sarcasm
Yep, that's the crux of the issue, I think. If moderators can edit posts, then there is probably no (worthwhile) mystery to solve here.

I regret my wording in the OP because it reads like I'm taking the existence of moderator editing for granted.

If someone can confirm that posts being edited by anyone but the author is normal around here (or was normal back in the day) then I'll lock this topic. Smiley

These are some of the moderator notes I found in some of the posts:

Quote
[moderator's note: removed flood, reduced size of some text]

Quote
[moderator's note: removed non-English content]

Quote
[moderator's note: replaced NSFW embedded image in quote with URL (the Imgur link)]

And these are some of the older examples:

~
Moderator's note: This post was edited by frodocooper to remove a nested quote.

~
Moderator's note: This post was edited by frodocooper to add code tags.

So, yes. I think that moderators (at least some of them) have always had the ability to edit posts. I do not know if there was always a practice to leave a comment on such cases.
1668  Other / Meta / Re: [INFO]Gambling Board Spams; Concerns, Solutions & Suggestions on: September 04, 2022, 06:18:45 PM
Having lots of posts doesn't mean they are spammers, on the other hand having few posts doesn't mean they are good posters either. Quality is judged based on what you write and it really depends on the knowledge and perspective of everyone who judges.
I totally agree with your assumption, there is no fixed standard in post quality assessment because every user has a different point of view. But as long as it's written constructively in the thread then I don't think it's spam.

It is not just his assumption, it is the facts. Spam is not defined by the quantity of posts but by their quality. And, besides, moderation standards are in place to ensure that this forum remains a friendly and welcoming environment for everyone who participates here.

You made a list of the Top 100 most active members in the Gambling board. That is fine, but that does not mean they are spammers. If you want to make a list of the biggest spammers on the forum, check the moderation logs.

https://bpip.org/Profile?id=1189222

If one out of every six of your posts gets deleted by the moderators, it is quite clear that you are violating the forum rules. A lot.
1669  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Blokbro plagiarised Content , Roadmap and Whitepaper from LockNess.io on: September 04, 2022, 11:51:30 AM
~
Another thing I have never asked people to invest their money or register on Blokbro, each person has to act with their own head and decide if it is a service that will be needed in the future.

That is not entirely true. You promoted your pre-ICO/ICO token sale, both here and on other social media channels. It is the same as asking people for money.

hi everyone, in a few days the sale of BLKB will start. https://blokbro.com
The purchase is exclusive on the website, for April we will be on various exchengs.

Source: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100077819212475&sk=photos

Furthermore, at the time you began promoting your website here in February 2022 (as well on Twitter and other social networks), the fake team images were still part of the site. Your explanation that you were unaware of the "mess made by the fake programmer" is bullshit.
1670  Economy / Reputation / Re: Does He evade Ban? Is It Sufficient Proof? on: September 04, 2022, 09:41:03 AM
That address belongs to a wallet from coins.ph - Philippine crypto exchange. So he sends coins every week to exchange for cash.
I understand that concept, but does coins.ph only give out one address for many individual members to use?  If that is indeed the case, then there's no merit to OP's suspicion.

I do not think so. According to WalletExplorer, there are over 2.7 million addresses with at least one transaction on that wallet: Wallet [00000dd86b] addresses
I think we can safely assume that every user of the coins.ph exchange has their own unique deposit address. And, from what I understand, coins.ph is a very popular exchange there because it allows users to link their bank accounts so that all crypto deposits are automatically converted to local currency without any additional fees. Perhaps someone from the Filipino community can confirm this?

Even if it isn't true, sending coins to someone's address every week doesn't necessarily mean they're alt accounts.  There could be any number of reasons someone would do that, and to hand out negative/neutral trust based on that evidence alone would be unfair IMO.

True, that does not necessarily mean they are alt accounts (although occam's razor says the simplest explanation is most likely true). But sending your weekly paycheck to someone else's account does not make much sense, either, unless it is a very close friend or family member or you know them very well and trust them with your money.

He don't have obligation to explain anything to you and anyone has his own right to remain silent.

He does not have to do anything. But, since the suspect account is connected to a group of greedy scammers and bounty cheaters who, by the way, have already been banned from the forum, I think it would be wise for him to come forward and explain the situation.
1671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be worth zero? on: September 03, 2022, 09:07:52 PM
Yes, the price of bitcoin could absolutely go to zero. There is no way of knowing for sure right now if Bitcoin (and the rest of the cryptocurrency market) will survive over the long-term. For one thing, Bitcoin isn't the only cryptocurrency by any means, with more and more entering the market with each passing year. Bitcoin is still in its very early days and it is unknown how it will hold up when more powerful and sophisticated cryptocurrencies are released in the future. However, Bitcoin has also made some very significant strides over the years, and many people believe that further adoption is inevitable. Provided cryptocurrency survives over time, then it is entirely possible for Bitcoin to become a much bigger part of our world and society going forward. But, there are no guarantees in life, and people can always be tricked into believing things which might or might not have any bearing on reality.
1672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Bitcoin and Blockchain inventor Satoshi can prove his identity ? on: September 03, 2022, 08:53:25 PM
Why don't you then talk to Satoshi and tell him that I myself DigotalMonk looking for him. I must find Satoshi.

My secret source just informed me that Satoshi read your post and he said you are not worthy of his attention. As you can imagine, he is a very busy man, and his time is precious.

That address belongs to a wallet from coins.ph - Philippine crypto exchange. So he sends coins every week to exchange for cash. This means that @crzy is most likely an alt of other accounts or part of a farm of accounts that all used that same deposit address.
1674  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is this allowed? on: September 03, 2022, 07:34:31 PM
I personally feel that users in a campaign should respect the company that hired them and make a post here and there in a company thread, but as multiple others have said, you cannot force or ask that of the users. Think of it as job protection, the more exposure a company feels they are getting, the more likely they are to keep a campaign going.

^^ Exactly this! The company pays all the participants in the campaign, and the company wants to keep their thread active and visible. Anyone with half a brain cell should put two and two together.
I think it is at least polite to write something in their main topic from time to time, regardless of the fact that you are not required to do so.

Uh huh, that's why you are hiding behind an alt like a pussy.

Good point there.
1675  Economy / Reputation / Re: CPNpr Changed Hands? on: August 31, 2022, 07:23:04 PM
Whats the problem?

There is no problem. If you are willing to promote a scam for short-term financial gain, it is well within your rights to do so. But you should know that you will be held responsible for your actions and at some point, there will likely come consequences. Some members believe that such people should not be trusted, hence the negative trust on your account.
1676  Economy / Gambling / Re: MBit Crypto Casino | mbitcasino.io | 110% up to 1 BTC First Deposit on: August 31, 2022, 06:39:42 PM
Welcome to mBitcasino!
~

@gamstan, are you the official representative of mBit casino on the forum?

I am not sure that it is allowed to have more than one thread per site. mBit Casino already has an announcement thread on the bitcointalk forum, since 2014:
mBit Casino | 24/7 Live Dealers, 250+ Games and growing, Chat Support, Licensed

1677  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How will you handle this case on: August 30, 2022, 06:25:14 PM
if you are in my shoe what will you do..

First of all, teach your little brother how to create a new wallet because his old address has apparently been compromised. Do not create it for him, but teach him how to do it himself.

Second, I do not think you can confront the suspect because you do not have enough evidence against him. If he claims he did not steal it, how are you going to prove otherwise?
1678  Economy / Reputation / Re: CPNpr Changed Hands? on: August 30, 2022, 06:12:17 PM
I suspect this account HEWRA has changed hands. After waking up from a long sleep, view post history, this user has also changed his password recently. He also tried to promote banned sites on forums (1xbit).
Maybe someone can investigate further regarding my suspicions on this user, as I have no experience in searching for further evidence.

His other forum account: HaXX0R1337
Unfortunately this account has also been inactive for several years, but maybe it will help someone find his active accounts.

4. I would hate to see other people's notes in public. So, consider not importing them and making them public.

All notes are saved locally, in your browser's storage, so this is not possible. No one can see your notes except you (unless TryNinja changes the code).
It is good that the code is open source, so we can evaluate it independently.  Cheesy

@TryNinja, I would love to see this integrated into the BPIP extension, as dkbit98 suggested. Is that possible?
