Yikes, I really am pulling farther and farther away from the wins, huh?

The good news is we have Chelsea and Lampard today to try and nick some points that no longer matter from City. And we also have Southampton to try and salvage some honour on their final Premiership games.

The bad news is that after Arsenal lost, Chelsea's odds dropped -- while I actually secured 12/1, I was dumb enough to parlay it with a Liverpool win yesterday that didn't happen, so I'm posting good odds below but you're lucky if you find even 9/1 today.

100 units at Sportsbet on Chelsea to WIN vs City @10.54. Other odds: 8.8

Still hurting from bets yesterday. Arsenal, Liverpool, all let me down but Ige, what do you think of your chances today? Easy bet for me to take any given Sunday anyway but it feels like a trap.

Pep might want to rest players, but his secondary squad is as terrifying as any.

Nice send off for Bobby though yesterday.

Well damn Liverpool. Now I lost the 12/1 Chelsea odds thanks to the greed of an almost 50% boost I thought Liverpool would provide. Funny how the odds shed 30% value overnight, guess people are expecting City to play with some minor inebriation heh...I actually still have a decent single, so am still pleased at the odds.

We also have Southampton, also fighting for points that don't matter, so we have two teams playing with freedom, to score consolation points with their pissed fans. Why not?

P.S. Keep that report button handy on spammers posting nonsense.

P.P.S. @webtricks Photos, please, and plenty.

Man,what is this nonsense from teams who have already wrapped up the title huh. First Napoli now Barca. Can't blame them but you think they want to keep the good times flowing.

Hope happens to City too as I love the bets against them. Maybe time to also go up against Barca... Or was Sociedad that good? Don't know why I thought they were good value at home.

I would not mind putting money for Liverpool today against Astor Villa but I don't think we have any chance to in the Top four. Newcastle needs one more win to secure their position. May be our last hope will be Man U LOL

Well they got a goal too. Could have been 2 up if Ollie didn't miss the penalty. United are comfortable from what I can tell so unless we shake ourselves out of this strange game, we may have conceded our already-slim hopes on our own.

VAR's already reviewing latest foul, no serious foul play on Mings despite catching Diaz Gakpo on the head (and being the last man). Let's see what we do with injury time - sure to be 8 at least.

Have really done myself a disfavour by putting large bets on Real... and they let me down with a draw and a huge loss.

Doesn't matter. We still have plenty of time to whittle down my meagre profit. We'll try to end the season with either a decent bank, or a small loss (I'm not concerned about keeping the record of not ending a season in loss, should I though?)

Delicious bet against Milan today, sorry Sampdoria has no chance, but hey.

City could win the title this weekend, even tonight without kicking a ball but hoping that Arsenal do their job today and keep the wait on -- and Chelsea tomorrow do their bit. When was the last time Chelsea were anywhere close to 10/1 to win?

Hopefully Inter can save football and beat them in the final.

And dare I say, United help save football also in their own final. I already have early outrights on Inter, and I'll be sure to take the Super Boost on United when they play the FA Cup, as I'm 100% sure Sportsbet will provide (hint hint).
1728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 19, 2023, 09:40:52 PM
@LFC_Bitcoin A chance? Heh. Talking to the guy who thought Mane would stay when all the talk was otherwise. But yeah, putting money on Liverpool winning the rest, and ETH dropping points... I love lose-lose situations (sad laughing emoji)

Wait a minute aren't Man City through the finals already, and if they win the league doesn't that make Premier League eligible for 5 teams representation ? or am I misinterpreting the rule, I don't remember vividly but I know that winners of the Champions League get an automatic appearance to defend their title the upcoming season even if they get relegated or are out of the top 4 position for leagues with 4 team representatives for the season, but I don't remember what happens when a team that wins the champions league have qualified already via league position, their slot goes directly to the next eligible team, doesn't it ? and that in this case would be Liverpool if they're able maintain their 5th position.

Yeah Liverpool Istanbul was what kicked off that ruling. You always defend the cup so you play even if you don't qualify via league placing, but must go through qualifying. But it doesn't grant extra spots... Otherwise Spain would be getting 5 teams every season from league alone haha.

You can still get five actually but only if non top 4 league finishers win Europa.

Don't quote me as I haven't really followed new rules but pretty sure things haven't changed in a while.

Didn't actually realise tonight was a clash between two teams looking to put distance between relegation and survival... In my mind Cadiz was always right at the middle alongside, I don't know, Espanyol... who look in trouble. Just goes to show how out of touch I am becoming heh.

Must be pretty dull to watch tail end of the season and tuning in to the bottom scrappers.

YNWA

No truer words, in the end.

I think our last win was a start of something, Klopp's Reds 2.0. Bobby saying farewell, and everyone just looking happy again (when was the last time, right?). Salah will be the last bit of remnants of that dogged frontline, a huge chunk of our midfield leaving, but yeah, it really felt like it was the start of something new.

Ten Hag won't choke, and I feel like we're not playing for CL, just playing for next season. See you there, brother, on the arse end of Europe haha.

If there was any game that one would have expected Newcastle to drop points, It should have been against Brighton, but now it's look like they're not going to give up that position, the most would be to expect a flop from Man United, but how probable is that ?, Let's just hope Leicester City can muster up some energy or momentum to get themselves something possible from the game.

Same here. Even losing to Leicester won't be enough to haul them back, it's that kind of hope I no longer want to entertain too much. Stats give Newcastle 95% and United 82% of UCL finish. We are at 15%.

Still worth throwing money at for sure heh heh.

Hey guys, yeah, sorry but I don't think there are any more yellow cap freebets -- am actually surprised Superbru still gave them out, they definitely don't count scores even in weeks with fewer than 10 games (or more than 10) for purposes of their own SB prize.

But if I hear any different, I'll let you know Wink

What the hell, the odds on a City win in the final are currently at around 1.40.

I don't remember a final in the Champions League with such low odds from the years I am seeing it,usually from 2003 I have seen every single of them as before I have not gambled and didn't care much about sports in general. However in these 20 years I don't remember having such a low odd while we have had 1.65 sometime or 1.75 and I think this is somewhat normal but 1.40 in a Champions League final sounds funny  Grin.

By the way how will Superbru calculate the points, will it be only regular time or even extra time will be added just like it was in the World Cup and we need this info before the final takes place?

Not in my memory either, actually! I know Liverpool were also significant underdogs in their Istanbul edition but I can't recall odds at the time.

SB calculates including extra time.

BTW Fairlay has City even below 1.3... but no market yet for Inter. Now I feel sort of cheated because I took a pre-semi outright on Inter only just over @7/1... to be fair, it still accounts for any outcome (including PKs) so I'm happy with that bet.

City's next few games are all value to me, heavy odds on their opponents! Chelsea 12/1??
1732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Algorithm for selecting a low-fee transaction from the mempool on: May 19, 2023, 02:49:57 PM
"Typically" would be filling up their mined block with the highest fee transactions as much as possible before the next one is mined so that falls under your "greedy algorithm". They can maybe accommodate some requests in including TXs with lower fees but that's definitely not their priority. They are here for the money after all - let's keep it real.

Yup. Highest total fees after filling up the blocks is probably how they go, rather than just blind highest fees (e.g. if you can fit 11 txs with average fee of 10.1 sat/byte rather than just 10 txs with 11 sat/byte, that's what they'd go).

You can't really blame "greedy" algorithm, OP. It's a cost-revenue thing, quite literally.

Obviously, you can still see low fee txs, I suspect that's paid for in different ways (e.g. viabtc's paid accelerator... as opposed to broadcasting, which doesn't... accelerate).

^ Ah Sturridge. Not nearly one of my favourites but he was part of the SAS hit squad, lest we forget, and he was a big part of my long-running seasonal betting on Liverpool (he scored almost every game several seasons ending with our Europa run season, it was like doubling my money on him to score whenever odds were 2/1).

I definitely don't see Gakpo in his mould though, probably a view shared by Klopp who hasn't settled on a role for him (at least, the way I see him in our formations, trying almost every position now). Admittedly much better than I rated him myself, but still not quite in my books yet. Can't say he doesn't fit the hard-running model we need.

Brighton's just pulled a goal back -- could we still end up with a Newcastle loss I'm hoping for?

1734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Know your time to HOLD on: May 18, 2023, 04:00:17 PM
Let's say you've got $10k to burn. You don't, but hey, since we're playing games, let's say you've got that much money.

Price yesterday was below $27k, let's make it simple and call it an even $27k. If you'd bought at $27k, you'd have 0.37 BTC. If you'd waited for $25k, you'd have 0.4 BTC. Is that 0.03 BTC really worth waiting for?  If you had $100k, that difference only becomes 0.3 BTC.

Now let's say you miss the boat and we don't look back and Bitcoin goes up, and up, and up. Do you keep waiting? Keep missing out?
1735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is "dying". on: May 18, 2023, 02:21:03 PM
Let's say I believe you and you think not enough people are using Bitcoin for intended purposes, so it's "dying" (despite actually constantly creating new records of utility, computing power, transactions, fees etc.).

When did you last use Bitcoin as a p2p payment? Put simply: when did you last pay in Bitcoin, or offer to sell or settle something in Bitcoin? Sig camps don't count... that's a win on the owner not on us.

No point sitting around waiting for things to happen.

You started life on this forum as a Litecoin seller. Not even a merchant. Does that say a lot about where you are today?

Hey, didn't know there was a sportsbook upgrade. Did see the freesports was taken away, not that I played it much anyway.

Would love to see the return of 4+1 promos, and make that a regular thing to have during European football season -- big 4 leagues anyway. I feel like it's a win-win situation, you get people to bet at least 4 times, to get a freebet that they'll likely blow anyway haha.

Also, MajSev 37 picks done early. I'm going for massive upsets... Chelsea, Forest, Leicester. You know it's gonna happen Wink

2nd half wasn't more exciting too. Milan wasn't even near from starting comeback and Martinez goal left no questions remaining. Inter were much better side in both games and seems that CL semifinal was above level of Milan. Still feeling disappointed that they kicked out Napoli, Napoli - Inter probably would be much more sciting. Offcourse, not talking about current Napoli, playing in hangover mode.

Yeah I ended up not really watching in the end, but from reports, it was just another entire shot on goal the entire time, resulting in the goal. Definitely still hurting about Napoli, as I still feel they would be a sterner test for City/Real, but hey, maybe Inter and Inzaghi have something up their sleeve for Istanbul.

@bullrun and Pamoldar: Yeah I'm all for Real tonight, put down a big fat bet on them (by my standards), I really really don't want a treble for Citeh heh heh

Enjoy the game tonight, gentlemen, good luck to all fighting for prizes. 6 points left to play for, and anything can happen, time for some gambling on predictions yeah?

That didn't happen properly, now did it? No matter. We keep coming close, and then get whacked by the Germans.

Real Madrid, they almost clinched it for me and today, at over 6/1, you have to say these are high-value odds. Probably brought on by Camavinga's absence, but there are capable deputies. I have a good feeling.

So let's again use our cushion here, why not?

Now there is too much competition in the top and I don’t even know what place Chelsea can count on even if they solve all their problems. Tell me, what order of teams would be logical for you (first 7 places)? Let's say (I know you want it) first Liverpool, then...? Whatever order you name, those who will be in 5-7 places will be obvious losers, right? But they are good clubs. The problem is that there is no place for everyone in the top.

Liverpool don't deserve to be top 4 this season, honestly! The table doesn't lie, in the end, of course. Sure you got some games that VAR and other things caused problems (remember Arsenal were robbed off at least 4 points in incidents, one of which VAR admits they made error) but in 38 games you more or less equalise all errors so you get what you get in the end.

I also recall we had 2 games where we were "gifted" easy wins without playing well. Newcastle, who play 10 men early, and Leicester who gave us 2 own goals when we couldn't strike?

I digress.

Logically, if I base my season outlook on games I've watched, the naive need to remove financial advantage, and overall spirit and character of teams? I would certainly put Arsenal in #1, Newcastle, Brighton and Villa in the rest of the top spots. I would, in a fantasy world, reward great footballing attitude, trained into top but not over-the-top talents, especially if you've got academy mindsets.

City wins games but they don't excite me and it's just the most expensive gun football can buy and a trigger (ok, it's slightly disrespectful but you know). Liverpool wins games, but turn in horror shows in alternate from 9-0 and 7-0 thrashings. Chelsea look like show ponies.

Problem is you thrust Villa, Brighton and Newcastle into UCL and they are going to get oh-so-soundly-smacked. But wouldn't we love to be proven wrong there? I honestly don't mind a UCL without City, Liverpool, United, if we can actually see guns blazing from our league's best hardened warriors.

I ramble.
