1761  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Easiest way to transfer BTC? on: February 02, 2014, 11:52:19 AM
I have my address+key and address where I want to send BTC. What is the easiest way to do it? I would prefer online service. Also without registration (or really simple). Is there any service where I can just add these 3 informations and that's it? Thanks.

If you prefer online wallet, you can get a blockchain.info wallet, and the registration is simple.

1. Go to https://blockchain.info/wallet and create a new wallet.
2. Click Import/Export -> I understand, and enter your private key in the "Import Private Key" field.
3. Click Send Money, and send your bitcoin Smiley

I would suggest you to have 2FA if possible for better security.
1762  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your answer to "Bitcoin is a Ponzi Scheme" ? on: February 02, 2014, 11:43:28 AM
It is a Pyramid, the price is determined by miners and the mining manufacturers

Come on, miners and ASIC manufacturers, set the bitcoin price to 1 million USD now!!  Cheesy

Your problem is you stopped reading after that line. How's that attention span doing for you?

Too bad, I lol'ed at that sentence so hard that I can't breathe...
I just can't continue reading it... Tongue

Okay, seriously, I can't agree with your analysis, and I truly believe bitcoin is not a ponzi scheme nor a pyramid...

I won't put any real money into it until i see for myself if its worth my time.
Forget about it, collecting dusts from faucets is never worth the time lol.

So far the biggest single payout i received was 1,750 Satoshi which i was amazed at....

Hurray!!  Cheesy

I can't really understand OP's plan....
1766  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Not] Good price at CEX.io on: February 02, 2014, 11:04:48 AM
I just noted from reading somewhere that cex.io drastically increased their maintenance fee since January.

Right now it's at a ludicrous 5.59% (WTF?!) and well above the ~3% that I used for my calculations. If it stays there, rented GHs are becoming even more unprofitable than they already are.

You can find the maintenance fee here, and yes it is now at 5.59%.  Wink
https://cex.io/maintenance

Quote
The maintenance fee is estimated as $0.30 / kW x hour: $0.17/kW electricity cost + $0.09 data centre upkeep + $0.04 hardware repair/maintenance.

1 GHS maintenance = $0.00045 / hour
So, when hashrate price goes down, the maintenance fee % will go up. Tongue

Please report back when you get it. Smiley
1768  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: US goverment to start mining bitcoins! on: February 02, 2014, 10:59:07 AM
CONFIRMED...lol  Grin

But for real, did Mr lee just recommend that the US government start mining Coins to defend the network?

Hello !

What is your source of information ?
If your news are real, then the price of the BTC should rise above $1000 next week.

Charles Lee the creator of LTC suggested it at this weeks senate meeting. As well as the chick in the third group of speakers on day 2.

ITS CONFIRMED!

Thanks for the link, and hm....missed the word "suggested".  Tongue
1769  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: No profit to be made even with 2TH machines? on: February 02, 2014, 10:57:12 AM
Most of these mining calculators are way off.

For instance one said that difficulty would be 2,221,000,000,000 by Dec-2014. That's over 1100 times the current network. I did a quick estimate and if the current network were all antminers, it would be worth about $180 million. So 1100 x $180 million is about ~$200 billion. So do you really think $200 billion dollars worth of antminers will be added before December?

Mining always trends towards barely profitable.

I just checked the historical difficulty, and found that it has been growing exponentially (~10% at first, ~25% later on) every 2016 blocks for like a year. Of course, we shouldn't expect it to keep growing exponentially forever, but it is hard to tell when that trend will stop.

FYI: Difficulty was 6.7M 10 months ago, and will be around 2.6B in a few days.
1770  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What the heck just happened to the hashrate? on: February 02, 2014, 10:51:08 AM
its just you. Its about to explode after the Chinese new year.

Just happening now, about 3 Petahashes added within 3 days...

That looks more like a variance spike.

Give it a few days more, and we'll see  Wink
1771  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should i buy a butterfly monarch. on: February 02, 2014, 10:49:33 AM
In the bitcoin mining world, delivery date is a crucial factor for your mining profitability.
A delay of a month or so could kill half of your profits; while a delay of a year would make your hardware trash.

Judging from the past delivery situation, it would be very hard for me to suggest people to make pre-orders of BFL...
1772  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New mining calculator taking difficulty development into account on: February 02, 2014, 10:44:39 AM
Are you DDoSed or something? I am loading blank page, where is the calc?

No problem accessing the page at this moment Smiley
1773  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Who cares about the exchange vs electricity? Really? on: February 02, 2014, 10:43:43 AM
If you can buy a device for 1.45 BTC and it returns 1.9+ BTC over the next 3 months USD/BTC becomes irrelevant...  (*cough* ANTMINER)

True.  Wink

Umm .... not if the bitcoin price drops 25% in those 3 months.

Embrace the bitcoin world, and measure all your asset values in btc Tongue
1774  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: A long time ago... on: February 02, 2014, 10:38:58 AM

The minimum difficulty is 32 zero bits, so even if only one person was running a node, the difficulty doesn't get any easier than that.  For most of last year, we were hovering below the minimum.  On 30 Dec we broke above it and the algorithm adjusted to more difficulty.  It's been getting more difficult at each adjustment since then.

That was really a long long time ago  Wink
1775  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: An Idea for Broadening the Bitcoin Miner Base and Preventing Over Consolidation on: February 02, 2014, 10:34:18 AM
Could the problem of consolidation and concentration in the Bitcoin miner base be solved in the following way?

Design a program that can run in the background on standard desktops, laptops, smartphones, etc., that uses their computing power to turn them into mini mining rigs.

The program automatically connects each device to all other devices running the same program, and the result is the creation of an enormous (in terms of numbers of machines) mining pool. Perhaps millions of devices might run the same program, and the total computing power of all these interconnected devices could be significant from a Bitcoin mining perspective.

The Bitcoins mined by this mining pool are divided among all devices running the program according to a predetermined formula. The Bitcoins awarded to each device are automatically deposited in a wallet that is part of the original program that was downloaded to that device, so the user who downloads the program needs to have no knowledge about receiving or sending Bitcoins. The user receives the Bitcoins directly to his/her device automatically solely as a result of running the program.

Though the amount of Bitcoin received by each device is infinitesimally small, the user receives the Bitcoins for free merely from downloading and running the program. This is one incentive for downloading and running the program.

The other incentive to use the program is to help protect and further the Bitcoin ecosystem by keeping the Bitcoin miner base as broad as possible, and to prevent over-consolidation and over-concentration in the Bitcoin miner base.

Is something like this feasible?

You just described Satoshi's client.

And even if you get thousands of CPUs and GPUs, there is still not much hashrate comparing with those new ASICs.
1776  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: ghash stoped working on: February 02, 2014, 10:31:03 AM
UPDATE..

Just got a response to a support request (very quickly too) that they are having issues and will compensate CEX.IO miners as soon as the system is back up.

Nothing too exciting - so far.

Thanks for the update. Smiley

mining.mBigas.com
Seems like a rip off!
If I'm yielding $1 per hour at 180Ghz.
Why would I $6 for 60Ghz.

You should have checked the profitability before buying anything. Cheesy
1778  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Cointerra actually shipping? on: February 02, 2014, 10:26:33 AM
If you check the delivery date of the previous pre-orders (especially BFL), you would know that a delay of 3 months is far from bad. Tongue

No, but I hope they will have more... or found them too late Sad

It's CNY so don't expect anything before 08 Feb

Isn't the chinese new year on 31 Jan? They have such a long holiday?
