1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox - if insolvent, better to hold cash or BTC? on: February 10, 2014, 03:46:14 AM
Only if mtgox has enough btc to cover everyone's withdrawal, especially many people may cancel their USD withdrawal, buy bitcoin and withdraw their all their bitcoin from mtgox.

You do realize that for every Bitcoin bought one is sold, right?

MtGox does not buy or sell. They match buyers with sellers.

Theoretically yes..but who know if mtgox really hasn't touched the bitcoin.......
1102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are they going to do when the bitcoin chain becomes prohibitively large? on: February 10, 2014, 03:42:32 AM

1103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox - if insolvent, better to hold cash or BTC? on: February 10, 2014, 03:34:34 AM
I would say BTC, because even if they dont have any liquid cash, you should in theory still be able to withdraw your BTC, since that doesnt require any money or banking partner for withdraw

Only if mtgox has enough btc to cover everyone's withdrawal, especially many people may cancel their USD withdrawal, buy bitcoin and withdraw their all their bitcoin from mtgox.
1104  Economy / Speculation / Re: HUGE PLUMMET TOMORROW! on: February 10, 2014, 03:28:53 AM
Mark my words, we will see btc to under $100 by friday... MT GOX will announce they are halting trading indefinitely. Be prepared to buy low if you can!
Dream on, why would people e.g. from Bitstamp sell all their coins? If your neighbours company goes bankrupt because he was an idiot do you close yours too?

Something major is going to happen this week... I am warning you all now..

Care to let us all in on what makes you say this?

research, speculation, historical data.. trust me on this one... sell now, buy when its low..

You may use astrology as well lol....
1105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How hard is it to complie a wallet if you have the backup on: February 10, 2014, 03:26:09 AM

Having troubles with my laptop right now but my wallet is backed up (after i've encrypted it) on a flash drive.  If my laptop blows up what skill level is needed to compile the backup from the flash drive on a new computer?

Depending on the wallet software, it could be from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. Smiley
1106  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Monday is upon Tokyo, What will GOX say? on: February 10, 2014, 03:23:20 AM
Manual BTC transfers.

Due to the volume they will take 3+ weeks to process.

 Grin

This. Just like they did with wires. Now it is "manual" and that will take 3-12 weeks to clear the back log.  Grin

That sounds reasonable lol.  Cheesy

1108  Other / Meta / Re: Most Influential Forum Members on: February 10, 2014, 03:09:22 AM
Who are they?
(by # verified btc)
(by quantity/quality of posts)
(by community reputation)
etc.

Measurable metrics are preferable to keep things relatively objective.

I'm curious about who currently holds the most sway around here beyond the obvious folks like Gavin and Vitalik.

by reputation: MPOE-PR

I seem to remember Phinneas Gage has the most posts by a long margin, I think there is some way to look that up?

Just go to the members tab and click on the 'posts' and it'll sort members by posts: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=posts;start=0

18362 posts at this moment... Shocked

Damn, he should join the PD signature campaign. Lol

He's registered for a long time, so i dont think he even gets 1000 posts a month.
Some ppl at PD signature campaign are doing 2000+ which is crazy.

2000+? Someone has made 5000+ posts in less than 3 months and is wearing a PD sig lol.
Who? You can find it easily with the above member change. Tongue
1109  Other / Meta / Re: PLEASE DELETE MY ACCOUNT on: February 10, 2014, 03:07:02 AM
By creating a thread about deleting your account you have made it so that other people have mentioned your account at lease 5 or 6 times already.  Now you need to go back and convince all of these people to edit their posts that mention your account if you want it gone completely. Not sure how much of a "clean break" you wanted from this forum but you may be spreading the name rather than making it go away by bringing more attention to your account. So now, even if you change the name on the account someone could look at this post discussing the name change and see what name you used and what your new name is.

lol, so true.
The name "John4782" will forever be here in this thread.
1110  Other / Meta / Re: What the hell is wrong with this site? on: February 10, 2014, 03:02:54 AM
It is nothing wrong, and these time limits are set to prevent spamming.

All of us here have survived through the newbie period, and experienced that 360 seconds limit.
In the old days, we even have some newbie restrictions and they are all gone now.

Stop complaining, and be a little bit more patient before making your post...

Thank you Sonny. Just watching the MTGox fiasco today, so glad I wrote that off.

You are welcome. Cheesy

1113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are mining pools the weakness of all mineable coins ? on: February 10, 2014, 02:50:21 AM
just started mining a month ago, found out what a 51% attack is, and pools can go down easyly.I mined litecoin, memorycoin, doge, moon, vert, earthcoin, lottocoin.few big pools have most of the hash power.Lets say 3 biggest pools have 30% each. One goes down ,not a problem.what if 2 of the 3 go down

seems like you misunderstood "51% attack".....
It will be a problem if 2 of the 3 big pools "co-corporate" with each other and controls 60% of hashrate, but it will not be any 51% attack if 1/2/3 big pools go down....
1114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: my first post on: February 10, 2014, 02:44:21 AM
Hello alex welcome. That a 360 seconds limit per posts for newbies to prevent spam. That will be remove once you have 15 activity.

It's not removed but it does go down the more activity you get.

Yup, it is not removed, but the time limit will be down to 75 seconds when you have 15 activity.

1116  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: One of the ones Bitco Miners scammed.. on: February 10, 2014, 02:24:33 AM
I'm just posting here because I can't seem to reply to the Bitco Miners Scam thread.. I'm the same lphelps that has posted multiple comments on their FB page, which some they have deleted..

They got me to man I worked for months through faucets for that ten dollars of btc.

Bitcoin address 19YJeVXG3zA5LYVC6nvZwmdW5fqxxQEGe5

You need to wait 4 hours before you can post in there. Miner scams seem to outnumber genuine deals these days. Shame.

Why did you bump this old thread, and quote hilariousandco's post Huh

1118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Fun way to get started with bitcoins (and get some for free) on: February 10, 2014, 02:17:01 AM
Hello,
I clicked the button, recieve bitcoins and completed the puzzle.
When I click collect Bitcoins I just see a pupup with 500 but nothing adds in my balance.

I have exactly the same problem with latest firefox.
It seems the site (well, at least the faucet) doesn't work in firefox....
1119  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Interesting https://ltc4you.com account with 100 referral? on: February 10, 2014, 02:12:00 AM
So basically you're not guaranteed any profits, as it's a gambling site,  however your chances of winning increases by the amount of referrals you have?

It seems it is a faucet rather than a gambling site......
1120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Interesting https://ltc4you.com account with 100 referral? on: February 10, 2014, 02:09:31 AM
Its like freebitco.in faucet but you not getting from referrals spin only from yours. But referrals increase your winning per hours.

I spin around 10 times per day so I earn around 10x120 = 0.00120000 LTC but there is a better chance to win better price.Today win 570 µLTC per spin Smiley

hm...guess I will pass it...
Good luck selling the account Smiley
