901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent bitcoins not showing in blockchain, already been 8hour.. how come? Help pls on: February 12, 2014, 09:44:02 PM
How to trace whether did my platform does the transfer/sent btc to my address? Just ask for the TX right ?

Just search your address on blockchain.info or blockr.io, to see if there is such a tx.

The genesis block was mined on 3 Jan 2009.

I have tried faucets but they are useless and slow.

Don't waste your time with faucets. Check on over on the marketplace and the services section.

do what this guy is doing, sell your signature (and life  Roll Eyes) to a gambling site, just dont gamble there!!

Very true lol.
It is a pretty good way to earn some bitcoin with those sig program Cheesy

You should place your thread in "Marketplace > Goods > Digital goods" instead.

To be honest, with your setup, I guess you should forget about mining completely...
907  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to buy bitcoins in Ireland? on: February 12, 2014, 09:27:26 PM
Agree with stan.distortion and howzar, localbitcoins is probably the easiest option.
But, you shouldn't do trades with those with very little trade history...
908  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What does it mean activity in profile? on: February 12, 2014, 09:23:57 PM
Hello, I´m new on bitcointalk.org
What does it mean activity? is it directly proportional to the amount of posts?

Every 2 weeks, you can get an activity increase of 14, IF you post at least 14 times in the time frame.

I think it's only one post during that two week period.

Nope, the activity level is calculated as:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

911  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can we see a full balance of a wallet? on: February 12, 2014, 09:19:19 PM
If you are using the Bitcoinqt client it is possible you've been hit with the transaction malleability bug. There's a good bit of info going around the forum on the subject. Most importantly, whatever blockchain.org tells you the balance is for the sum of public addresses in your wallet is correct.

The Bitcoinqt client is showing multiples of the same transaction in some cases, this can make your balance look both high and low.

If you see any difference in address confirmed balance in qt and bc.i, just run your qt wallet with -rescan...

913  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Two questions about miners, confirmations, and, fees on: February 12, 2014, 09:07:54 PM
1) Why do miners not like to fill blocks up to the absolute cap? Is there more work for them to do if they have lots of transactions in the block? I notice lots of blocks are only about 150KB large, when the protocol allows up to 500KB/1MB (Not sure, it's one of the two), while, there are lots of unconfirmed transactions in the mempool. Why not just include those? Even if they have super low transactions fees and/or low priority. I completely understand why a miner would ignore them if the block was filled up (And thus order by "How much profit can I get?"), but, that's not the case currently.

2) Am I correct in thinking, in theory, with the current "standard" settings (Obviously miners can change this), it only takes 58 confirmations on a 0.01 transaction for it to have a high enough priority to be free? That seems inaccurate, but, I can't work out what's wrong with my calculations.

Sorry for the newbie question, but, we all have to learn, eh?

1) With a larger block, it will take longer time to be relayed, and it will slightly increase the orphan rate.
The miner may get a little more tx fee, but compared with the 25btc block reward, it is pretty much nothing.

2) To be qualified to be a high-priority tx, you need to have priority > 57,600,000.
For a tx with 1 input and 2 outputs (1 as change), the tx size should be ~230 Bytes.
Code:
priority = sum(input_value_in_base_units * input_age)/size_in_bytes
Thus, if you have a piece of 0.01btc input, you will need it to have at least 13248 confirmations lol.

***UPDATE***

Mr. Moriarty just got in touch with me.

I have to say that he is in the process of making things right with me.  He owed me .3234 BTC.  After a couple of back and forth emails, we agreed to the following.  I would remove the negative rating and he would deposit .20 BTC in my account.  Which he has done.  Further, once I update the posts I have made and let folks know the outcome, he will then release the balance of .1234 BTC to me.

After having talked with Mr. Moriarty, I was informed that somehow my account was hacked.  He does seem to be quite busy working to contain the situation.  The fact that he is reimbursing me out of his own pocket, in my opinion, does speak volumes to this man's character.

Bitlaunder.com seems to be making the effort to correct things.

Have you got back your btc yet?  Huh
915  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Final verdict on XtremeMiners.net? on: February 12, 2014, 08:03:04 PM
I stupidly ordered a tiger january batch from xtrememiners, which they failed to deliver. I have been trying to ask for refund, ever since then they have stopped responding to all my emails… I am an average guy from India, 10000 dollars means almost half of my lifetime savings…working like a dog, and living in a very dire strait condition, I managed to save a bit. I dont want any one else to get cheated by these mindless greedy pigs.

Sad to hear your loss.
You should have done some search here, before sending the payment...

Could you not put the .dat file in a different client like Electrum or blockchain.info so you don't have to wait for the blockchain to download?

maybe OP just wants to use bitcoin-qt instead of other wallets....
918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Absolutely no way to recover wallet password? on: February 12, 2014, 07:48:29 PM
