1901  Other / Meta / Re: Bug Report: Newbie restrictions affecting thread title on: May 22, 2018, 02:45:11 PM
I tried to find the original thread, but it appears to have been deleted. What was the problem with the thread?

You can still see it in the screenshot I posted.
Basically, that [suspicious link removed] replaces the website link in the title, when a newbie replies. (only the title above his reply)
1902  Other / Meta / Bug Report: Newbie restrictions affecting thread title on: May 22, 2018, 01:26:32 PM
I've just noticed this really small bug. If there's a link in the title of a thread and a newbie replies to that thread, the website is removed from the title above the newbies post.
I know it really doesn't affect usability in any way, it's just visual. Just thought I'd point it out.

Check this screenshot to see what I mean:
https://i.imgur.com/jspaPdT.png (not embedding it, because it's too big)

Or perhaps it's intended like this? In case a newbie changes the website in the title to a phishing website that's similar looking?

1903  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Benefits of gambling? Yes - it exists! on: May 22, 2018, 12:50:41 PM

Also I think between can provide benefits or not to the country, it also depends on each country's economic life respectively.

Gambling cant provide benefits to the country or to the economy but rather gambling can only provide a benefits to its players .

I think the benefit that we can get when playing a Gambling is fun , profit , to meet new friends , and to learn how to accept defeat. We can learn new lessons from gambling as well.

Why couldn't it provide benefits to a country that legalizes and taxes gambling?
It all depends on how those taxes are spent. I know that here in Belgium profits from the national lottery go to various good causes, so that's how gambling directly benefits society here at least.

People are going to gamble regardless whether it's illegal or not, if you regularize and tax it, it can definitely help society out.
This should also include providing with information and possible help for addiction.
1904  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Merit in Nederlandstalige community on: May 19, 2018, 09:27:13 PM

1905  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Coins [18 Projects Listed] on: May 19, 2018, 09:06:45 PM
I think that both Duniter and Ubic should be marked green. Distribution has begun.

Thanks, I've updated it. I try to go over these projects every once in a while, but it's not always super clear whether distribution has started.
Will go over it again tomorrow, just to be sure Wink
1906  Economy / Services / Re: [Crypto-Games.net] ★ Signature Campaign ★ Senior - Legendary[FULL] ★ on: May 19, 2018, 05:48:22 PM

Received and confirmed, thanks for another week! Wink
1907  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Business ( You can get merit, If you have money ) on: May 19, 2018, 02:54:18 PM
Damn why don't I ever get any of these offers :-/ Could have been rich by now!
Just kidding of course, please don't pm me to buy merit. Not selling it.

How much are these people even offering for merit? With the risk that the seller is taking, it should be quite a lot, no?
1908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Coins [17 Projects Listed] on: May 18, 2018, 04:51:47 PM
There is also UBIC.
Here is the announcement thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3021063
Thanks, hadn't heard about that project yet. Nice catch!
Seems to be a very recent and active project, so it's definitely a great addition to the list Smiley
1909  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian bank helps Venezuela defy US cryptocurrency sanctions on: May 18, 2018, 04:05:26 PM
This sentence:
"Like kids on the playground, Venezuela and Russia think they are fighting a common bully in U.S. sanctions, so they’re going to try and form a united front" tells you something about it.

Load of ....... Everytime a socialist country turns into a dump it's the fault of the USA.
You know what those sanctions do? They prevent Americans business to deal with certain companies and people from Venezuela. If the leaders of Russia and Venezuela would be that smart they would manage somehow without those, but with no brains all they can do is blame.
If Venezuela is that angry at the US, why don't they stop selling oil ?

The US does have a proven track record of overthrowing regimes they don't like, while replacing them with sock-puppets of their own.
So the idea isn't that far-fetched.

Now, I don't think that's the case with Venezuela though, sanctions have little to do with the current problems there. Those sanctions are a reaction to those problems.
Once Chavez died, the oil price also started dropping, thus making the current government essentially bankrupt.

1910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypro will make people smarter? on: May 18, 2018, 02:50:39 PM
Scroll through the various threads in this forum and ask yourself the same question.
I don't think that cryptocurrency has any part in making people smarter, there will always be a majority of people who would still do stupid shit.

Some people just can't learn to avoid getting scammed, some people really shouldn't get into crypto.
1911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Overview of Universal Basic Income Crypto Coins [16 Projects Listed] on: May 18, 2018, 02:00:05 PM
Changelog:

- I've added Democracy Earth to the list, as they have a specific section in their whitepaper that talk about including basic income.
- Added better description to Enumivo
- Arranged the list alphabetically

I was thinking of moving this thread to a different section, but I'm not sure where it would fit better.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them!
1912  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone ever tried using crypto with this site before? https://www.peddler.com/ on: May 18, 2018, 01:15:02 PM
This is actually a really neat concept, it's just like group purchases to get the price down.
How do merchants find you website? Do you have any examples of successful campaigns where you get a very significant discount from a merchant?

Definitely have to look a bit more into this, might come in handy when I'm buying a new phone Smiley
1913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gambling Versus Traditional Gambling on: May 18, 2018, 12:28:04 PM
I agree with you, that online and traditional gambling has their own advantages and disadvantages. Traditional gambling is more fun because it can play directly but has a high cost, while online gambling is easy to do and cheap but prone to fraud. I prefer online gambling because I am so busy that I can play online gambling everywhere and in my free time. I have some online gambling sites I trust, so I always gamble there.

Is it really that expensive to just go to a casino and play slots for a couple of hours? I would think that you'd also have games with low bet limits at regular casinos.
The problem with regular casinos is that you really can't know what the house edge is on some games.

Maybe you do eventually spend more at a regular casino, since everything is just organized that way.
Especially if they offer free drinks at the tables Tongue
1914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need Help regarding EOS and TRX Mainnet launch ?? on: May 18, 2018, 12:08:04 PM
You definitely need to get your EOS tokens in an address that you control and register it at eos.io
There's more information on how to get your coins off Hitbtc, into your own wallet here: https://eos.io/instructions

I wouldn't trust any exchange to swap the ETH tokens for native EOS tokens when their blockchain launches.
1915  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need help on: May 18, 2018, 11:40:10 AM
Maybe you're looking for something similar to kickstarter? A lot of artists use crowdfunding platforms to fund future projects.
There are some crypto crowdfunding platforms, though they don't seem to be all that popular.

I think you might be better off trying on a traditional crowdfunding platform like Kickstarter or Indiegogo.

The only crypto crowdfunding website I could find was this one:
https://www.bitspot.me/
1916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: HTC Plans to Ship a Blockchain Phone This Year on: May 18, 2018, 11:11:50 AM
They're going to name it Exodus, and first it was going to be Genesis?
There's already a multi-coin wallet named Exodus, wouldn't this cause problems in terms of trademarks.

I would think that the name Exodus is already registered by the guys from exodus.io?
1917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: In Venezuela, opened a 7-star hotel, accepting only El Petro on: May 18, 2018, 09:50:58 AM
Literally makes zero sense to only accept crypto.

It makes even less sense to only accept this piece of dictatorship issued shit coin. As if any of the Venezuelan people could afford to stay in that hotel.
Most of those Petro coins were bought by russian investors btw, no-one is going to spend them for taking a trip to Venezuela.

The country is in total shambles and Petro isn't going to make any of it better.
1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Facebook and other corporations hijack the blockchain movement? on: May 18, 2018, 09:28:56 AM
FB is not that powerful though.
Not that powerful you say? You know that the Facebook stock has a marketcap of over 500 billion USD, right?
Compare that to Bitcoin's marketcap of 138 billion USD or the total cryptocurrency marketcap of 371 billion USD (coins listed on Coinmarketcap).

If the company announces they're launching their own token or full blown cryptocurrency, you can bet that the total marketcap is going to double in a day or so.
Their coin would be on top of coinmarketcap for sure.
1919  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★ Crypto-Games.net ★ Since 2014 ★ 7 games ★ 10 coins ★ Investments ★ Jackpot ★ on: May 17, 2018, 05:16:54 PM
I just noticed a small little change on the website, something really handy actually.
Seems like your dice bet settings are automatically saved, even when you leave the CG website or close your browser.

Was this added recently?
1920  Economy / Economics / Re: Buffet, Munger and Gates Denounce Bitcoin on: May 17, 2018, 05:03:19 PM
I'm not buying into the conspiracy theories here.  All of those guys are free thinkers who made money doing their own thing.  They just don't like bitcoin.  They know what it is, believe me, and it's not for them.  They're entitled to their opinions, even if everyone on this forum disagrees.

Bitcoin has a lot of disadvantages that tend to get overlooked by members here, and if you wonder why it hasn't been adopted by the masses yet, it's because the masses don't need bitcoin.  People get so emotionally attached to bitcoin that they fail to see that it's not really solving many real-world problems.  Buffett, Munger, and Gates don't make that mistake.  All three are very rational and just don't like bitcoin--so be it.

It's amazing how many of these conspiracy theories you see, when you look for anything Bitcoin related on Youtube for example.
No wonder people start copying that and basically spread unfounded claims of mass market manipulation.

I'm not saying that there isn't market manipulation going on, just saying that I haven't seen any credible source provide us with any real evidence.
