1901  Economy / Speculation / Re: India back in the game? Unocoin will go live 8 january! on: January 06, 2014, 06:45:01 PM
Somewhat brazen. Is there anything to indicate authorities have given the green light? I don't see anything. In before they get raided.

Give them a chance. I'm sure they understand the situation on the ground better than us.
1902  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2014, 06:34:43 PM
I'll do it if you want. Address down there ---v

Suggest coinabul deposits first as he's called the bet. Terms will have to be properly defined (48 hours from when, which exchange and other such things.)

Thanks very much for the offer! I would like to hear from Windjc and Magicmexican first so we can all agree. They may have their own proposed escrow.

I think the terms are clear. Coinbull said $750 on Gox within 48 hours. Should really be from the time he made his proposal. He said in his PM he leaves work and can reply to us in around 8 hours. Incidentally I would say that would be a bit too long for people to pile in on the bet but I suppose that's up to Coinbull to decide!  Cheesy
1903  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to invest in BTC??? on: January 06, 2014, 06:26:47 PM
I think, now is the best time for get out of the game. Bitcoin goes to 10 USD  !!!

Trolling!  Cheesy
1904  Economy / Speculation / Re: does anyone notice there are less coins to sell due to mass hodl? on: January 06, 2014, 06:21:59 PM
Keep with this hodl bullshit and you are sure to have no fiat when you'll need it.

why many of "we" only invest what we can loose?

I can buy goods and services in BTC. It just means Hodl from fiat.

+1
1905  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2014, 06:18:12 PM
Thanks but no thanks.

Why would anyone trust me anyway?  Smiley

OK no worries!  Smiley

This is the first time I have done this. Perhaps you can propose someone Windjc and Magixmexican?
1906  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 06, 2014, 06:13:40 PM

1 BTC bet. huge sell offs happen and price goes below 750 on gox with the next 48 hours??

Is this for real?

Coinbull I accept your wager. Please answer my PM.

OMG I seem to have opened a real can of worms by laughing at what I thought was an obvious joke.

Good thing I don't gamble (rule of mine for almost 50 years) or I would have been first to accept OP's foolish bet. Betting in the currency whose price is being bet upon... and taking the short position? LOL

Seems only fair that you consider escrowing this for us! What do you say?
1907  Economy / Speculation / Re: A little birdie told me > $5K Bitcoins by March 1st. on: January 06, 2014, 06:10:07 PM
Give that little birdie some seeds!  Cheesy
1908  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: January 06, 2014, 06:09:06 PM
I'm going to stop hodling 1 btc.  A friend of mine is offering to sell me an M1 garand for $800.  Can't pass it up.  Sorry hodlers, i've found my limit. Smiley

Ask him to accept Bitcoin! This could be Hodling in the most altruistic sense of the term - Hodling to support the Bitcoin economy!!  Smiley

1913  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear Flag Consolidation on: January 06, 2014, 03:55:39 PM
Please also be aware that we have seen a mountain of clear evidence that technical analysis of the sort practised by Arepo and others, while being valid for cerain markets, has proven time and time again to be ill-suited to Bitcoin.

Please pay attention to the green line on the chart below. It represents a normal, healthy continuation of the clear uptrend we have all been seeing over the past two weeks. There is fundamentally no good reason for Bitcoin to fall below this line.

Please remember this after consolidation has happened around this pattern. Do your own common sense analysis; don't rely on an expert without thinking for yourself first and foremost.

Well goodnight everyone. It certainly has been a weekend to remember. Back to work for Bitcoin tomorrow after a nice relaxing holiday.  Cheesy

Oh and just to let you bears know, there will be a week of emergency prayers over at the Whale Temple starting tomorrow to try to resolve this drought you've been experiencing!

Sleep tight!

1915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thoughts on FBI dumping Silkroad BTC on: January 06, 2014, 12:13:59 AM
I think the FBI will keep it, especially if the trial leads to a conviction ("drug money" and other seized assets are kept by the government upon conviction, providing a nice revenue stream that many say leads to overzealous enforcement of drug laws when the local police agency is feeling a little poor).

It could provide the USA with a storehouse of Bitcoin, in much the same way as Fort Knox provides a storehouse of physical gold.  If Bitcoin takes off in the future and becomes more widely accepted, this could prove quite useful to the government as an asset.

^^This
Read the thread.  The FBI has already said they are going to sell them.

"Err... this is a bit new for us... we'll probably sell them" is an offhand comment made to a hack before the Senate hearing, latest run up, etc. No-one knows yet what will happen to those coins.
1916  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 05, 2014, 11:46:42 PM
So? rallies in a bear market is not something out of the ordinary. A lot of fools will be trapped in the ATH range.

Oh my! I appear to have got caught in a perpetual bull trap!  Cheesy
1917  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 05, 2014, 10:22:45 PM
I had a quick look about the forums but didn't find one: is there a thread to post pics of things you've bought with Bitcoin?
1918  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 05, 2014, 10:19:51 PM
Omg what kind of witchcraft is this? I went on vacation for 4 days with no internet during what was supposed to be the least volatile time in bitcoin and I come back and the price has floated up $200 on no volume. Looks like everyone unanimously decided to pull their sell orders/bots and there are no coins for sale!

OK whoever asked me when I would admit I was wrong, this is it. The May patterning seems clearly broken. Looks like I've been badly burnt on the 40% part of the 60/40 position I left myself in. I give up with TA and bit coin - the exchange system is too decentralized now for that.

Bad luck on your position.

We are heading to the Oort Cloud.

See you there!

 Wink

EDIT: Hope to see you there??  Huh

Well will it count if I'm there only with my current position?

I'm not quite comfortable buying right away at the current level after such a fast rise and buying while everything is just peachy Isnt usually my strategy  . There is probably going to be a drop at least back to the current level at some point. Look at the order books now. I suppose there is some small chance I'll still get burnt again, but I'll still at least have the 60% position.

Agree with your strategy in general but it's going to get hot for a while in my humble opinion.

But I will see you on that cloud!  Wink

Well, common logic about trends don't apply on manipulated markets that have highly concentrated wealth distribution and a lot of people who make their decisions based solely on where the price seems to be currently going.
This is gambling, not speculation.

Plenty of speculation, but not quite the same as gambling by now I'd say...
