keys = access my house, my car, my post box, my office, my gym locker
wallet = access my money
1904  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could bitcoins be made illegal? on: December 30, 2011, 06:05:39 AM
could the US or any other government actually make the bitcoin itself illegal?

A Bitcoin private key is data.

so is an image depicting child pornography.

some types of data can most definitely be outlawed.
1905  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Namecoin address? How?? on: December 30, 2011, 05:30:10 AM
it basically works the way of bitcoin w/o the gui

so it can be used with jsonrpc.php?
1906  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Namecoin address? How?? on: December 30, 2011, 03:04:54 AM

1909  Economy / Services / Re: Advertise on bictoin.org for only 0.02 btc per day! on: December 29, 2011, 11:50:47 PM
So thats 0.60 BTC for 30 days?

I'll take it! In fact, Ill take 2!

great. you can't take 2 yet... i decided to limit it to 30 days to start with so i can gauge interest and keep a closer eye on the hit count.

let me know the image+link you want and i'll pm you with an address for payment.

OK cool. What size is that banner

the current one (for thrucoin.com) is a standard 728x90 'full' banner, but it doesn't have to be exact.

that's right, for only 0.02 btc per day, you can have your banner ad showing on bictoin.org.

that's not a typo. or it is, depending on your point of view.

the domain currently gets an average 10 to 15 hits per day.

your banner will show along with a small message that links to bitcoin.org and possibly redirects there automatically after 15 seconds or so.

minimum term: 7 days
maximum term (renewable): 30 days

expressions of interest welcome here, or PM me.

hey mizerydearia, i'm not sure how you generated your list, but it'd be interesting to see how many (if any) of your original list have moved away from GD so far.

It seems you do not pay attention to details.  -1

sorry the # character caused my brain comment those lines out Tongue

I don't post often...

yet more similarities in grammar/spelling/vocab... not as strong a correlation as dark_science i'll admit, but there exists a correlation none-the-less.

another account to be cautious of.

1916  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: solved: 500 internal server error when polling Bitcoin JSON RPC on: December 28, 2011, 11:23:02 AM
i'm getting the exact same issue and can't seem to resolve it.

i'm using the standard jsonrpc.php which i've used in other projects so i can't see why it's not working for me at the moment.

right before the fopen, i've echoed the url and the json string to check it, and then went to an online validator (http://jsonlint.com/) which told me the json was valid.

yet i still get the 500 error.

php.ini says yes to allow_url_fopen, and safe_mode is off.

i've tried restarting apache, and tried restarting bitcoin.

AND PAYPAL TOLD ME I WON!

1918  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bet: Bitcoin will not drop below $2 in the next two weeks. 50 BTC bets only! on: December 21, 2011, 12:05:46 PM
I would advise setting the closing time to 11:59:59.  Is this the end of the day on Wednesday or Thursday?

Quote
12/22/2011 12:00 AM GMT

as a coder, i can tell you his statement unambiguiously specifies the midnight between the 21st and 22nd of December, GMT. (whether that's what the OP intended or not is another matter).

it's equivalent to 12/22/2011 00:00 GMT

in fact, since it's midnight, the time part can be ommitted altogether and the deadline re-written as:

12/22/2011 GMT

...which would mean betting closes at the exact instant the date changes from 21 to 22 (GMT).
1919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / 0.5.0.1-beta bug on: December 19, 2011, 09:33:06 AM
sorry i have no idea where to post this.

i hovered over the tick icon on 0.5.0.1-beta client (in win xp) today and it told me:

Last received block was generated %n second ago

a while back we mentioned that getting principal back is far more important than getting the interest payments... so i should mention that last week i successfully withdrew a large chunk of it (600 btc). cheers.
