2021  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you consider appearance in business and employment? on: November 08, 2022, 10:34:32 PM
I have always heard this saying: You would be addressed the way you are dressed . This also connotes that you should address people the way they dress or appear. In my location you must wear a suit, a shirt tucked in good pants with a tie, or a well-tailored native attire, to prove that you are ready for business or employment. Wearing a jean, T-shirt or any casual wear is indecent in business and you would be treated like an unserious individual. But over the years I have learned that appearance can be deceptive, this has made me treat people or business prospects by their behavior, ability, and productivity and not by appearance. Some reasons for my decision are:

1. Good appearance doesn't guarantee quality: A so-called not properly dressed applicant might be more qualified and knowledgeable than a well-dressed prospect. Therefore it would be proper not to judge them by their appearance.

2. Scammers and criminals hide behind attractive appearances : To deceive people, some criminals dress presentably because they want to divert the attention of their targets. In my location, most Ponzi scheme operators always dress corporately at all times, just to give the people the feeling that their funds are in the custody of responsible persons.

3. Limited time: Thinking of what to wear can be time and strength-consuming. Most people that are too busy with work or other engagements might not give adequate attention to what they wear. As long as the clothing is clean and good to wear, they are okay with them.

4. Weather condition: It is very important to wear clothing that suits the atmospheric condition at a particular time, but most people especially in Africa don't understand this fact. I have been forced to wear a three-piece suit under the hottest sun I have ever experienced because my organization wants me to look presentable and corporate. I was sweating like a Xmas goat and all my clothes got soaked. But a T-shirt. a pair of jeans and a simple shoe would have given me the smartest look at that time.

5. More attention to the inside: Some perceived poor dressers feel that the mental and emotional well-being of an individual supersedes the physical looks. They believe that virtues like creativity, interpersonal skills, selflessness, contentment, etc are far better than appearance.

6. Poverty: indeed, looking good or corporate might not be very expensive but the truth is that some persons cannot afford them. Some individuals cannot provide a meal for themselves because of poverty. It would be unfair to look down on such persons maybe during interviews or business proposal meetings because they are not well dressed. He might be the most qualified.

It is good to look nice and attractive but looking down on people that you feel are not well dressed might not be the best option.
I saw something along the lines of what your post is on a sigma male grindset page on Facebook, although I do not really lean towards that way of thinking, I'd have to admit they made a valid point when they said that you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Taking it at face value could pose some ridiculous notion, but then again the way of thinking it imposes is something that is integral especially in our today's society rigged by people who are so defeatist they'd literally have every excuse for whatever you throw at them. End of the day, clothing is still clothing so one should not pay so much mind into it. But if you could spare a couple dollars to buy appropriate work attire then might as well.
2022  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lost 270 dollar in roullete plan on revenge on: November 08, 2022, 09:53:55 PM
Today i was in colombia lost 1.4 million pesos
Even lucky people like me got it wrong sometime

I plan to revenge and withdrawed 1000 usd from my bank to make big bets and beat them.

When i cane back they  closesd he casino they lucky to close before i play again i had all my adrelaine and mood to win and bankrupt them.
Tomorrow i visit them again and take what is mine.

Btw i recover most  on the funds with bc.game today but i want revenge on this casino phyisical casino.
Your current behavior strikes me as a gambling problem turn to debt problem in the making. The most logical answer to your situation is to quit at it and reinvest your time and effort to something else that is more valuable than the 1.3 million pesos you lost in the roulette like spending time with friends and families, or even investing something for yourself like picking up a new hobby. It's a good thing that you regained your losses in a different casino but that wouldn't always be the case so be mindful of your actions and how you spend your money. Then again at the end of the day it is always you who will do the decisions for your life, just a friend trying to help Smiley
2023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now is the perfect time to invest in Bitcoin on: November 08, 2022, 09:31:25 PM
The price of Bitcoin increased drastically in late 2020 and early 2021. The price of Bitcoin touched about 72k dollars. But from there the price has come down to its lowest level.

Bitcoin price is currently 19302 dollars but the possibility of Bitcoin price increase from here is very high. And I think Bitcoin price in 2023 Chances of reaching $100,000 per year are very high so if one wants to invest then now is the best time to invest in Bitcoin.

If you invest at this time then you will definitely be able to reap huge benefits as I believe that Bitcoin price will increase greatly by 2023.
No arguing, the best time to buy bitcoin is when a bull run is imminent such as moments like these. When the price is still that low but there are the potentials of increasing in value in a matter of months. I could understand the people who are not that confident in purchasing bitcoin or any type of asset for that matter during the bear market because there is a huge chance of your investments tanking. All in all, expert analysis plus a bit of research could always go a long way, so I will always suggest everyone to instead invest their time and effort into learning how to do these instead of looking for sites and youtubers who give TA
2024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How are Online casino's and sports betting platforms coping? on: November 07, 2022, 09:18:05 PM
Online casinos and sports betting platforms are big businesses like we all know, and currently considering the economic situation of things around the world many businesses are affected and have been taking measures to cut costs in terms of reducing staff, taking loans etc to still be able to sustain operations. How do you think online casinos and sports betting platforms are adjusting to manage the situation?
I don't think they are the most affected, if affected at all, by inflation and other economic struggles we are experiencing. Casinos and Sports betting platforms are there to take money and from my observation, no matter the economic state of the world some people will always find a way or a reason to gamble. More over, these entities could always find contingencies and sustainable stratagems to employ during recessions and financial breakdowns, I believe they always account for situations like these. So yeah, I don't think they are struggling really, more so coping against the situation.
2025  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Losing $350,000 because of a friend, what would you do? on: November 07, 2022, 08:28:23 PM
He particularly chose Black 15 for $10K on roulette which he could have won $350,000 but a friend took the $10K and replace a safer bet. I know this is likely not to happen in real life. But let's say it did. What would you do?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fT4GcK6Dpkk
I was trying to look for Kevin Hart movies on Netflix so I found one. Turns out one scene is an unsatisfying win.
Good knee-slapper scene, would be particularly nasty if it happens in real life. I know that friend of his did the switch with good intentions but I am always going to be in agency of whatever bet I place my money on. The situation could've gotten worse in real life where the friend's actions could've lead to a loss. This is why you never, ever influence or coax a friend into doing "what is right" in the middle of a sticky situation like this. It will almost only lead to you calling it quits or something even worse.
2026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Satoshi Needs to Reveal His Identity ? on: November 06, 2022, 08:42:29 PM
There are so many people in the Bitcoin Talk Forum who have interest to discover the true identity of the Bitcoin and Blockchain inventor. Also there are few who oppose the matter, that Satoshi Nakamoto must not reveal his identity.

I am so much confused regarding matter. So I think, it would be better to arrange a concensus about the identity of the Bitcoin and Blockchain inventor. The members of this forum can vote for themselves and it will be helpful for Satoshi Nakamoto to make a correct discussion.

What is your opinion ?
Millions of people across the planet already came to the consensus that he should at least give us a hint of who they are, if not outright reveal themselves in public. Yet as it stands today, they seem indignant in keeping their identity in obscurity. Besides, nothing will really come from him revealing who they are. Bitcoin is already great as it is. What part of them revealing their identity is going to benefit bitcoin or cryptocurrencies as a whole? This discussion has been brought up countless of times. They don't need to reveal themselves because they already gave us the greatest gift in the form of bitcoin. Let's just keep it that way and reinvest our energies to something that is actually gonna benefit the whole industry, like maybe active involvement in activities that will hasten the onboard of crypto utilization to the general public.
2027  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fees on Dormant Accounts on Crypto Gambling Platforms on: November 06, 2022, 07:36:54 PM
Are you familiar with this? Or has anybody here been actually charged for having his/her crypto gambling account inactive for several months?

The monthly charge could be as high as 15% of the remaining balance. Or, worse, the entire balance could be withheld by the platform itself. Although it could be for security's sake and be returned upon request, who knows what conditions or perhaps KYC information they would require just to have your money back?

For the sake of discussion, let's set aside the fact that one shouldn't leave money in gambling account wallets. Do you think this policy is fair?

This is similar to a bank policy that requires accounts to have transactions every now and then or be active or else dormancy fees could be charged. But this feels weird to a gambling platform. What happens to seasonal gamblers who don't mind leaving money in their account wallets? One could only be betting during annual work breaks or vacation or during annual sports championship events. Say, the NBA playoffs, The International, and others.

Edit:

As suggested, and probably for the interest of a better discussion, I'm quoting here a post of mine which mentioned a few crypto gambling platforms that are actually implementing certain policies pertaining to funds of inactive and dormant accounts.

Thanks for all your responses!

Honestly, I was surprised when I encountered this. Although I have been gambling for some time already, I have to admit I really wasn't familiar with this. So it isn't surprising either to find out that many of you, including old gamblers, are also surprised with this specific term.

But it's there in many crypto gambling platforms. Inactive accounts could be charged for being inactive. They could be permanently closed. Not only that, it could mean that all money left is permanently taken away. So if you frown that your inactive account is being charged for up to 15% monthly, you'd surely be aghast to know that other platforms could simply take everything away.

Roobet:
Quote
You acknowledge that the Company may close your account if you did not log into it for 365 days (one year), and all remaining Roollion (funds/money) in the Iron Pouch (wallet) will be permanently lost.
(*red mine)

Bitcasino:
Quote
We reserve the right to close player accounts that have been inactive for more than 12 months. In case your account has deposited funds after the 12-month inactive period, we reserve the right to use the remaining deposited funds for administrative costs for closing the account.

Sportsbet:
Quote
If you do not use your account that has deposited funds for 3 months, you will receive a notice from us. If you do not use your deposits after our notice within 1 month, we reserve the right to deduct monthly administrative costs from your deposit remaining on your account. The administrative cost may be up to 15% from your deposited funds remaining on your account. After 180 days we may remove the balance from your account to increase security on the funds.

CryptoGames:
Quote
If you do not access your Account for any consecutive period of 180 days, we reserve the right to shut down such and retain any associated funds.

These are just a few examples of crypto gambling platforms that implement what I'm talking about. Please note, though, that while some close accounts, others only suspend accounts, and they could then be reactivated upon request.

In this regard, I'm also happy to share that I've encountered at least one platform that do not do this.

Betfury:
Quote
BetFury does not block or suspend Inactive accounts (an account that has not been used for a long period of time).

I'm now interested to open another thread comparing top crypto gambling platforms' policies on dormant or inactive accounts, especially on how they would handle funds left in wallets. This might matter to some gamblers who are unfamiliar with these terms and, like me, seasonal bettors and have the tendency to leave a certain amount in their gambling wallets for easy betting anytime. This may also significantly matter to those who are comparing and considering which platform to use.[/size]
I think this is their way to ensure that activities in their casino are made, after all that is where they make the money, not in keeping your funds sitting on their proprietary wallets. Though this isn't really something that I think is fair or by any means legal, I believe this is mentioned in their exclusive Terms and Conditions as well as Policy Manual, who most of us agreed to blindly, already voiding our chance at appeal. At the end of the day, if you're a seasonal gambler, I suggest just depositing enough money in your gambling accounts you think you could spend and use. Otherwise expect your extra money being withheld, or worse be subjected to dormancy fees.
2028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you Consider the Price of Bitcoin to be More Important than its Purpose? on: November 06, 2022, 06:56:44 PM
There are two types of price movements: bull markets and bear markets. In the bull market, the majority of bitcoin investors are buying, demand outweighs supply, market confidence is at a high, and prices are rising. On the other hand, they are the opposite of the bull market. Bear markets are defined as a period of time where supply is greater than demand, confidence is low, and prices are falling.

In his paper, Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, Satoshi Nakamoto states that the purpose of Bitcoin is a purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash that would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution.

So far, I would like to think that bitcoin has been living up to the expectations of Satoshi Nakamoto despite the numerous challenges it has encountered. Nevertheless, the price volatility has been a huge concern to so many people all over the world. I want to know your thoughts - Do you consider the price of Bitcoin to be more important than its purpose?
For me, Bitcoin's price works hand-in-hand with its purpose. Back in the old days, when bitcoin is still worth less than a dime not a lot of people are aware of its purpose, much more of its existence. But as it rose to power and price, more and more people are seeing its benefit in the financial and the security aspects. I do not think one is more important than the other, because without purpose, people wouldn't be so confident to invest on it and entrust their future to it, without price, no one would bat an eye to bitcoin and it would just be kicked into the curb like most ventures without enough financial backing.
2029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to crypto exchanges in the future? on: November 03, 2022, 11:51:46 PM
Bitcoin is becoming more and more popular and applicable everyday and there are plenty of companies and businesses accepting it as a common type of payment. However, when digital money is globally accepted, would there still be a need for cryptocurrency exchanges? Any thoughts on this?
We have a lot of fiat exchanges in every corner of every city, somehow this doesn't put anyone out of business. The same could be supposed in the case of cryptocurrency. Multiple exchanges just means more choices to choose from, and competition brewing from each of these exchanges trying to one-up the other could just be beneficial to its customers as they could find new ways to make it to the top. Also, digital money is way different from crypto, both will have their proprietary exchanges in the future I presume. crypto has their dexes now, digital money could have its own in the future.
2030  Other / Archival / Re: I don't want to buy cheap bitcoins, I want to buy expensive ones on: November 03, 2022, 11:04:44 PM
Years pass, cycles pass, but nothing changes. Cheesy

I wonder how much longer it will take for people to realize that low prices are a CHANCE to buy, not some kind of disappointment. Instead of taking this chance, they are burying bitcoin. Instead of taking profits or enjoying an increase in the value of their assets, they start buying. They buy at the top of the market, and then they say that bitcoin is a pyramid scheme and a scam. Now I am talking to some people IRL, who are also interested in cryptocurrencies.

I ask: Have you already bought bitcoin?
Answer: No. I'll wait until he recovers.
It's all a matter of who's stupid enough to not research about bitcoin before investing really. You would notice that along with the pattern you mentioned, the people who are repeat offenders of this war crime (the use of war crime here is a joke, I cannot stress this enough) is those who just heard or saw bitcoin on a newsdaily article and immediately jumped to investing without prior knowledge about the dangers and the potentials. It has been like that since time immemorial. This is mainly caused by the fact that the media sensationalizes bitcoin's rise in price but doesn't talk even a little about it when the price drops. People are easily persuaded when there's price increase so the cycle starts again and again.
2031  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lottery's defense to not paying a huge winning. on: November 03, 2022, 10:27:39 PM
I came across a story on this thread about a lottery company refusing to make payments to a player who legally played a game with about $690 and won over $160,000 but was denied payment on the grounds that his winning data has been wiped out of their system.
Below is the link to the original story.
https://punchng.com/lagos-lottery-company-arraigned-for-refusing-n72m-win/
Link to the topic
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5418121.msg61175078#msg61175078.

I just came across another news, where the lottery company, has now come to a defense of its action for not paying the winner his winnings with claims that winner was involved in irregularities. And that around 2019 he won a huge sum of money from them and now another winner from same outlet which was suspicious to them.
https://leadership.ng/lagos-lottery-coy-says-claimant-of-n72-2m-win-engaged-in-irregularities/

The question is ?
What do you really think of the lottery company and is there any chance for them to winning the case and not paying the winner?

For one, the case is already served in the court awaiting judgement and the proprietary sanctions. But guessing the argument of the defendant which is the lottery company, I believe that the plaintiff has a good chance of getting his reparations. The fact that they are basically accusing the player of irregularities which practically means they are accusing the player of cheating, and then stating that the winner couldn't get his prize because there was a system wipeout is just too fishy for me. And even if they do win against him, they'd be dubbed as the lottery company who wouldn't pay their winners so it's gonna be detrimental to their reputation.
2032  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do online casinos disadvantage some locations from winning big on: November 03, 2022, 09:48:02 PM
You know how casinos have set certain slots to only pay a certain amount to a winner, it it also possible that casinos are using an algorithm to limit how much it can payout for players coming from certain locations to avoid being dragged into legal disputes if a player is paid big money and the local authorities want to know the source and the alike?
regular casinos could easily do this as they have a lot of amenities that could ensure that someone couldn't go out of their casino easily. Free drinks, even free hotel stays for their regulars are some of the tactics that they employ to prevent gamblers from spending their money on a more fair casino. Oftentimes they cover it up as a "benefit." The same couldn't be said for online casinos, they do not have physical benefits  that could entice people to gamble more in their site, so there's no possibility, or a very little of it that they are rigging their games based on location.

2034  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Apple Pauses Gambling Ads in App Store Pages After Developers Complain on: November 01, 2022, 08:48:25 PM
Quote
Apple today rolled out new ad placements in the App Store on the iPhone, allowing developers to advertise their apps in more places, including the main Today tab and in the "You Might Also Like" section at the bottom of individual app listings.

"Now my app's product page shows gambling ads, which I'm really not OK with," tweeted Arment. "Apple shouldn't be OK with it, either."

As noted by Arment, Apple provides advertisers with the choice to have their ad shown in app categories different than their own app's category, allowing ads for gambling ads to appear in listings for unrelated apps like the podcast app Overcast.

The presence of gambling ads in the App Store as a whole has prompted some criticism, with some accusing Apple of being greedy and moving away from policies that the company upheld under former CEO Steve Jobs. Apple earns revenue from both the ad placements and its 15% to 30% cut of in-app purchases in gambling apps.

Beyond upsetting some developers, Apple allowing apps to run ads in other apps' listings has already led to the company facing accusations of anticompetitive behavior. In a tweet last week, legal expert Florian Mueller argued the ads are "another means of increasing the effective app tax rate, forcing developers to buy ads on their own app pages in order to avoid that others steer customers away from there."

In August, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said Apple wanted to nearly triple its current advertising revenue to at least $10 billion per year in the future. Gurman said keyword-based search result ads are coming to the Apple Maps app starting next year.

We've reached out to Apple for comment and asked if the company will consider tightening its rules surrounding the ads. We'll update this story if we hear back.

https://www.macrumors.com/2022/10/26/app-store-gambling-ads-complaints/

....

It appears apple developers are not fans of gambling?

If apple based platforms ban gambling advertisements.

Could apple gain a reputation for having an anti gambling stance in the future. Which might lead to a backlash where casinos boycott apple based products?

I don't remember statistics or revenue numbers being published in response to facebook and other platforms banning cryptocurrency advertisements. Or if there was an actual backlash in those cases where social media platforms lost a significant chunk of revenue as a result of bans.

The gambling industry is different from cryptocurrency advertisements. Gambling is a trillion dollar industry worldwide. It might be large enough for ad bans and lost revenue to affect apples bottom line. Perhaps I'm exaggerating the influence of the gambling industry.

I think it's less about "Apple Devs hating on gambling ads" and more about "Apple being negligent in the way they handle ads on their platform." Ads can be content and beneficial if they are targeted to the right audiences. As you said, the current system allows ad managers to publish advertisements outside of their innate categories. This will never sit well with anyone no matter what the ads are. Picture this, you're looking for games to download on your new iPhone or maybe browsing the vast expanse of the Apple Store for digital stuff to purchase, then all of a sudden you're smacked with an ad about gambling, now imagine this being done to you on a regular basis, despite the fact that you as a person aren't into gambling. You'd be upset too.

Again, I don't think it's about Apple Devs hating on gambling, I'm pretty sure a handful of them if not a considerable percentage gambles or has at least gambled once, it's more about how Apple is handling their content.
2035  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which has better odds, lottery, online gambling, or sports betting? on: November 01, 2022, 07:38:06 PM
Lottery – a game with established rules where players buy tickets for a chance to win cash or other merchandise prizes.

Gambling – a game or mutual bet according to established rules whose participants, seeking monetary gain, voluntarily risk losing an amount they have paid in, and where winning or losing is determined by chance, by some event, or by the result of a sport competition.

Sports betting - Sports betting is the activity of predicting sports results and placing a wager on the outcome.

Differences
In a lottery, players compete against other players. A lottery’s prize fund is set in advance and the lottery operator does not participate in the game.

In gambling, players compete individually against the gambling operator. It is in the gambling operator’s interest to win against the players.

In Sports betting - In sports betting players places wagers on sports that include but not limited to football, basketball, baseball, hockey, track cycling, auto racing, mixed martial arts, and boxing at both the amateur and professional levels.

We have an active gambling discussion section and I would very much love to hear the opinions of experienced gamblers on which has better odds, lottery, online gambling, or sports betting?

Note: The idea for this post came from reading this article on Quora
I believe that in terms of how probable you are of winning, the best odds are on sports betting. Especially if it's just between two teams pitting for a win. Normally the only factors that would really affect your win is how good the teams are, which could easily be discerned with a couple google searches. Lotteries have a reputation of being very hard to win, mathematicians around the world have stated that it's more probable for you to be struck by lightning multiple times than actually be a lottery winner. As for the others you have stated, like gambling, there's more to it than just odds. Innate skills, house edge, and knowledge of the game you are playing are good definers of how probable one is of winning.
2036  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Faucet and Bonus Farming on: November 01, 2022, 06:48:33 PM
I have seen more than 2 casinos locking user accounts for this action, and is it really the users fault?

If the users claims tons of faucets or bonus is because the casino engine allows it, and if the casino is losing money with this action they should fix their code to avoid this problem and not steal users money.

The casinos sets the rules of the game, and if a user is smarter enough to find a way to make profit with those rules then they shouldn't block users withdrawals.

So, what do you think about this?
You could argue about the fact that applying a true fix to this issue is the real way issue with faucet exploits could be solved. But I can bet my bottom dollar that:
  • A. These people would just find other ways to exploit the system
  • B. The gambling sites in question wouldn't do anything about it because these exploits bait people into coming to their site.

And even if the above factors weren't the case for the majority, regular patches on a very dynamic site such as a gambling website would cost its primary stakeholders extra money in the upkeep department, which means less money for them. So no, the changes we so desire are a bit too impossible at the moment, given the current circumstances.
2037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why btc cannot move pow to pos on: October 31, 2022, 11:26:17 PM
This question comes, Do btc network can move to POW to POS?
I am just asking and there is a issue that electricity bill too. Energy problem is most hottest topic all now. so lets discuss this
I believe the current risks of POS is just too much to make it at least acceptable to choose over the proof-of-work consensus system that we have right now. Although this comes at a price in the form of our climate and environment deteriorating. But in all honesty, that is a problem that these oil companies choose to actively ignore because there had been and always had been opportunities for us to switch to a cleaner source of energy and yet we don't. And as in the case of bitcoin mining a lot of massive miners are actually building their own farms with renewable sources of energy given the fact that some countries ban the use of residential electricity for mining.

I was once a POS believer, given the fact that the current consensus system is flawed and of course could be made better, but doing my research and weighing the factors down, I'd rather wait for my transaction to go through than lose my money from a hacker attack that devastated my coin's POS system due to it being so centralized.
2038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Split the prize or Reroll? on: October 31, 2022, 09:56:19 PM
Let's say you join a give away with other user and both have to select a number between 1 and 10, you go for 7 while he goes for 9. The winning number is 8.

If the prize is 0.1BTC what would you do? Split the prize and walk away with 0.05 or Reroll to gamble for the full prize?
A really interesting point of discussion. I think I saw this in practice in a game show clip I saw somewhere in the internet. Premise is that two people are tasked with choosing between playing "steal" or "split"
If one player chooses split while the other chooses steal, the one who chose to steal gets to bag all the prize money. If both of them however plays steal however, they don't get anything. Lastly, if both of them choose to play split, they go home with half the prize. If done with an interaction with the other person you are betting with, you can play a bluff on them that will maximize both your profit. And that is to immediately let them know that you are going to steal, or in this case reroll, ask them to choose split, and then tell them that you're just gonna send them the money, but actually choose split so that you go home with half the prize.

Although it must be said that the premise you gave us leaves me little to come up with because you never specified if the winner is to be chosen based on who has a closest number to the winning one which would be me.

Obviously there has to be some sort of evidence that supports the methods to their madness. High possibility that there are a number of copy traders who do get profits from copying other's strategy or even acquiring a copy trading service. At the end of the day it's all a matter of perspective, and honestly if you aren't doing your own research even if for just copy trading, you're bound to lose all your investments eventually. Some form of knowledge or acquired information is still needed to at least effectively know who's the best to copy trade especially in various market conditions and seasons.
2040  Economy / Economics / Re: Can One Get Rich or At least Not go Broke During a Recession? on: October 31, 2022, 06:36:51 PM
Recession is coming and we know it. In some places it is staring us right in the face. Unemployment, rising cost of living, increasing food prices, falling stocks etc are some of the negative effects associated with recession. Despite this seemingly bad news, Warren Buffet said “In short, bad news is an investor’s best friend”. And another quote by someone goes thus "millionaires are made during a recession". I have been recently laid-off work due to the recent economic crisis in my country. I do not want to see this as a bad thing. So I ask what hidden opportunities does this recession offer? How can one take opportunity of the recession to become rich or at least not go broke?

The fact you said that you just recently got laid off, you could face problems with your regular day-to-day expenditure like utilities and essentials just like what the others have said here. If you could find a way to solve that dilemma, and at the same time have enough to invest on assets that are not affected by recession, you are indeed safe. Thing is the statement made by Warren Buffet exclusively works for people who could afford to invest on something. If you couldn't you're in deep crap.
