3) This is a very interesting suggestion that I've actually not been thinking of before. Awesome Miner would have to save the last known MAC address of each Remote Agent but otherwise it should be quite straight forward. This would make sense to have as a rule action. I will expore this request and see when it's possible to implement.

Thanks for all comments, questions and feedback!
hello patrike.
have you considered "reversing" the client-server communication in Awesome Miner?

using one listening AM server that will accept connections from several Remote Agents makes more sense, than establishing the connection to each Remote Agent from the server side. no need for VPNs, setting up port forwarding for each Remote Agent and so on. it should be really convenient.

also it would be great to add some data compression algo to all AM agent-server communication. the amount of traffic between Remote Agents and AM server sometimes becomes really enormous. users with low-bandwidth or traffic-limited connections will thank you Smiley
The plan for the future is to have an approach using the Cloud Services. Then both Remote Agent and Awesome Miner will communicate via outgoing connections to the cloud. None of these would require VPN or configuration of router port forwarding. Just like the communication with the Cloud uses data compression today, this new approach will also use it. Your point about the data size is very valid.

The idea is also to have the Remote Proxy concept support this for ASIC miners, making it possible to put a small computer (maybe even R-Pi later on) on the mining site and without any VPN be able to connect to the miners on this site.

Due to many other priorities it will probably take about 4 - 8 months before this is in place.

I am running the professional version of AM on my small farm of Inosillicon A9 Zmasters and for some reason I can show Horizen with totals as the coin I am mining on the Main/Miners page but when I select Zcash(the coin I am actually mining), the logos show up but no prices or totals.
Are Zcash showing up with the correct information on the Coins tab? If you enter the same hashrate on the Coins tab as your miner can perform, will you get a revenue and profit displayed here on the Coins tab?
2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 200000 miners on: December 05, 2018, 10:04:32 AM
Dialogue enhancement request.

In the Benchmark dialogue, would it be possible to multi-select different items to be benchmarked? (Shift click and Control click?)

Generally, when a new version of a miner is updated, I like to go to the benchmark dialogue and benchmark all the algorithms I have selected for that specific miner. It's a bit of a pain clicking each individual algorithm when there are 15 of them (out of 40). Sorting by miner helps, but it would be wonderful to sort by miner, click the first one for that miner, then shift click the last one for that miner and have all the algorithms for that miner selected for benchmarking.

(This kind of goes along with my other request to save each miners benchmark value.)

Thanks,
...jim

I agree that it can be improved. @patrike, perhaps it's worth considering to have filtering criteria available to the benchmark dialogue, first by primary software to be benchmarked, and second by competing software where same algo is available/enabled?
It's a small change to allow multi-select like jim suggestion. I can add that right away. Keeping each mining software benchmark result is also on the todo-list and will be supported later on.

I'm not sure if I understood the filtering concept (sorry about that). With the new multi-select you should be able to mark all entries for CryptonightV8 for example, check all of them, and then benchmark it. What would the filtering add in this scenario?

New release T-Rex 0.8.5  Performance improvements: x22i +5%

https://github.com/trexminer/T-Rex/releases/download/0.8.5/t-rex-0.8.5-win-cuda10.0.zip
It is necessary to somehow stop this disgrace with a constant update.
Patrike, you need to figure out how to automatically update the miner. It would be good to make a notification about the release of a new miner and update the miner separately from the program.
First of all, it's fully possible to manually go in to the Options dialog, Managed Software section, and paste the new mining software URL's that Awesome Miner should use. This makes it possible for you to start using the very latest mining software versions right after the release and only spending 15 seconds to make the configuration change.

In the past there was also a feature in Awesome Miner called Software Definition Update that were allowing users to download updated URL's for the mining software without having to install a new Awesome Miner version. There were however drawbacks with this approach:
 - I would still need to update the software URL's so even if I'm trying to be fast, there are new mining software versions released at any time of the day and you would still have a delay before you get the latest version.
 - Some mining software updates require additional changes to Awesome Miner (API changes, changes to command line, new parameters for algorithms, ...) so you would still require to update Awesome Miner in some cases
 - I also noticed that users delayed their updates of Awesome Miner when they got frequent Software Definition Updates, and then I got more fault reports related to faults already fixed in more recent versions. That created a frustration for everyone.

I'm very open to suggestions how to improve here. The above was just to point out that there are some complexity to consider as well.

I have to agree with baf28 that it can be a little annoyance of some sort, automatic update features would be nice but I also totally understand patrike's points, me for example,I don't have the newest hardware and prefers CUDA 9.x vs 10.x as there's significant performance loss if I use CUDA 10.x on some algos and no gain of majority of others. That simply adds layers of complication to achieve.

One way this could perhaps be implemented is to have some sort of (sets of) "frameworks", but it's unlikely will be made to realization in the near/foreseeable future. As there are many factors in the play such as:

-Awesome Miner's dominance of the sector (big on incentives for developers to agree on any "standards", which currently there's none)

-Still early stage for crypto and no real long term commitment from most developers (probably hard to find many software that lasts more than 3-5 years b4 its development completely stops, consequently, most coins that survived this long would likely have its algo ASICed or FPGAed)

-Dwindling profit and lack of interest in GPU mining vs potential new technologies that are slowly made available to the broader public
...and so on just to name a few

To put it simply, the efforts implementing something like this probably outweighs the benefits by far, and I doubt this will be a priority
Thanks for all good point above.

At some point I was also considering that the mining software developers could be the ones that make their new software versions available to the Awesome Miner users - for example by posting a link to the latest ZIP-file somewhere and Awesome Miner would automatically pick it up. There are however some security concerns with that. If anyone else was able to put in a link to some malware, it would be really bad.

Another idea would be to have Awesome Miner monitor the github repository for the mining software that are published there - and automatically make the latest version available. There are still some complexity here, like which CUDA version to use and so on.

This might not be a topic that we solve right here and right now, but I appreciate all good suggestions and the goal would of course be to make new software versions available as soon as possible while still taking the entire picture into consideration.

Hey Patrike, I have some more requests as mining seemingly is evolving in weird ways.

-A way to pull date/time stamp for rules activation from a txt file which is monitored. Such as scanning a text file and recognizing a date/time stamp and using that as a trigger. Date/time syntax could be specified by the user to make it easier to program for you.

-Adding a command to shutdown miners. There is reboot command, but not shutdown.

-Adding the ability to send a magic packet to machines (Wake on Lan). Machine MAC addresses in addition to IPs should be recorded by Awesome Miner and should be seamlessly integrated with miners. Wake on Lan is heavily documented with examples, very easy to implement, and used in a lot of applications. This is very important for low power usage scenarios.

-Apply a template to selected miners. I'm not sure if there is some weird way of doing this already, but you can only select pools or pool groups, and not change the template (which is needed for swapping algorithms on a schedule).

Thanks. ^^
1) This one is a bit specific and I don't think there will be much general use for a feature like this to justify new trigger settings for it. I can write a few lines of custom C# script for you that will trigger based on file content. Please give me an example of what the file format will look like and I will get back to you on this.

2) You can use the rules for this - both for manually triggering a shutdown but also as part of some automated tasks. Please see "Example: Shutdown remote PC via a button click":
https://support.awesomeminer.com/support/solutions/articles/35000085907-rules-detect-mining-issues-and-automate-tasks
The example illustrates how you can add a menu item to the Actions button where you can execute any remote command, in this case a shutdown command. This action is very flexible as it can automate many tasks on the remote miners.

3) This is a very interesting suggestion that I've actually not been thinking of before. Awesome Miner would have to save the last known MAC address of each Remote Agent but otherwise it should be quite straight forward. This would make sense to have as a rule action. I will expore this request and see when it's possible to implement.

4) Is this for use in a rule where you want to make changes on a schedule? There is a rule action called Apply Managed Template that you can use. Please let me know if this was what you were looking for or if I misunderstood your request.

Thanks for all comments, questions and feedback!

patrike

Is it possible to specify a specific number per kW in a certain profile?
those. not the price for 1 kW / hour, but the fixed price?
I've had a few simlar requests in the past but this is currently not supported.

Maybe it should be possible to define something like this:
- Additional power usage (W) on a global level, in addition to the individual miners. To be used to reduce the total profit on the dashboard
- Additional power user per miner - configured per profit profile
  - Possible to override this per miner as well

All this would be added on top of the power usage specified per algorithm.

Please let me know your view on this.

How i can get access by  API to miner Tag options?
Yes, the Tags are exposed over the Awesome Miner HTTP API. Please see the section "Tags" on this page for details:
https://support.awesomeminer.com/support/solutions/articles/35000085916-awesome-miner-http-api

Thanks, but I said wrong.

I meant access from a script in C #
Right now it can only be accessed and modified via the HTTP API and the Rules in Awesome Miner - but currently not via the C# scripting feature. I will note your request.

Awesome Miner version 6.0.2
 ASIC mining
  - Update firmware feature for Antminers. The firmware will be uploaded and updated for all the selected Antminers.
An excellent solution, especially when it can be done at once in the entire list.
But is there any kind of fool protection? for verification of incorrect firmware for a specific model?

---
bitma*n made the service "Bitmain Crypto"
https://index.btc.com/default
https://btc.com/api-doc
There are no "fool protection" right now. The files you download from the Bitmain web site is typically a single tar.gz-file, and Awesome Miner doesn't have any way of knowing which Antminer model it's intended for.

I'm however very open to suggestions here so if there are realistic checks that Awesome Miner can perform, it can of course be implemented.

 .........

Could anybody explain this feature? Where can I read what does the new firmware can do for my L3+ for example?
Thank you.
It's the firmware provided by Bitmain that can be deployed to your Antminers. The feature in Awesome Miner is about mass upgrading Antminers with firmware, but Awesome Miner itself doesn't provide any firmware.

It's a way to automate the task to upgrade the firmware where you today need to go into the web interface of each of your Antminers and make the upgrade. That kind of upgrade via the web interface is fine if you only have a few Antminers, but for those having 20 or 200 Antminers it makes sense to let Awesome Miner do perform this instead.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2979494.0

the extension to add coins Awesome Miner Coin Updater does not work correctly. Even though we add coins, always read hashrate 0.0, which is always profitable.

I have sent several emais to Sootha, leaving messages in their forum, but two weeks have passed. PAtrike if they do not fix that you will have to look for a similar way so that we can add coins. There are a lot of profitable currencies that do not appear in AM providers, and this is bothering me deeply. Hours of coin searches and tests that now do not help me at all, but it must be recognized that AW CU was doing a very good job, so good, that you will have to do something similar in AM so that we can add coins, and read the explorer and the prices of some Exchanges. You can request the source of programming from Sootha and over time add it corrected to AM, besides that function will make it possible for you to obtain any price of any currency whatever your source of origin, and to be able to choose the exchange that interests us.

I know that this I have commented it other times, but it is that it is very important, AM with the cost that it has can not depend so much on other extensions of third parties that suddenly leave them abandoned. It's like taking my arm off. I have coins for X22s but although it adds them its hash is 0.0. All this because they have updated the explorer and now it can not scrape the data well.

Something like that should be standard in AM.

Neither you are a great developer, nor the clients that have paid the high licenses for the API and for pruning to use among other things this extension, we deserve not to have something similar and depend on a third party.
To some extent, having a more flexible way of pointing to data sources like block explorers and exchanges can make sense to support in future versions of Awesome Miner. I think we can agree on that point.

I also have integration with two more coin statistics web sites in the pipeline. Those running these sites are spending a considerable amount of time to keep them updated with coins and it's not realistic for Awesome Miner to start competing in this area. This is why integration with external services are required.

I confess that the same thing happens to me. Nicehash with Gminer does not work, it gives errors. I have not tried EWBF because for me that miner remains old.

We expect quick solution in an update just for this. Now it is very interesting Zhash both in mining alone and in Nicehash, in fact it is almost what mino in coins lately

Maybe patrike left it out, there's a lot of things to do and overlooking is unintended but happens. The error is clearly no pers string defined.

Just go into Online Services -> NiceHash (ZHash) -> Personalisation String (Optional) and add auto

it should just work from there
Thanks! The next release of Awesome Miner will include this change.

Hmmm I just used the update function from inside awesome miner and the 6.0.1 gets quarantined by bitdefender. Been using the software for months now together with bitdefender, never had any issues so far.

Is there any way to downgrade to 6.0.0?
It might have been your e-mail I replied to just a while ago.

I'm just about to release version 6.0.2 that you could try if Bitdefender was giving this behavior specifically on 6.0.1. I've also made 6.0.0 available for you on the link below:

Hi,

I have been using your program for some time and in my opinion it's the best out there. I have been using GPU to mine predominantly but I have two FPGA's on the way soon. Do you know if these can be incorporated into your program in the future?
Awesome Miner doesn't have any specific features related to FPGA miners, but in the past many of the FPGA miners were controlled by software like cgminer or bfgminer - and those can be monitored by Awesome Miner via their monitoring interfaces (API's). In your case it will depend a bit on what control software that is used with these FPGA miners and what kind of monitoring interfaces they provide.

Patrike, please add the algorithm X21S
Yes - I will add this one in the next release that soon will be made available.

I've not seen that it's available on any of the predefined pools like zpool, ahashpool and so on - but once it shows up there it will automatically be available for Awesome Miner as well.

Thank.
This one was discussed a bit earlier, but it's not an official API from what I can see so I've not included in by default yet.

Hey Patrik, please add a Tab for Properties>Command Line>Parameters in the main miner window where you have Summary, Pools, GPU, Etc when you click on each miner. That is probably the absolutely most tweaked and hardest to get to element in the UI right now. That's extremely useful for adjusting, testing new configs, troubleshooting.
Hello again and thanks for your feedback! I agree with your point here so I will see if there is a good way of making it easier to access this setting via the tabs while still not making it look too odd to have a specific setting outside the Properties.

There is also another feature that you might find helpful when testing different settings. In the Benchmark dialog for a miner, you can click on the drop down arrow next to the Start button to run a benchmark with specific command line parameters. This is intended to be a way where you try different command lines and see the result. What you enter here is however not saved to the Properties of the miner, but it for some testing scenarios it might still be of help.
