2061  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: coinjedi / betsofbitco.in SCAMMERS: Declares "Push" on obvious win for BFL bet on: April 05, 2013, 06:48:24 AM
Since there is so much different opinions on that matter, and since the people that has the power to define events (BoB, theymos) seems against the vast majority:

what about putting this whole debate to http://www.judge.me/ and then everybody accept whatever the outcome will be?

CoinJedi:  would you accept the sentence of judge.me?

Theymos:  would you accept the sentence of judge.me?

Why are you asking theymos? I'm pretty sure he doesn't give a shit what decision is made, just that he isn't giving a tag over it (you know, what the thread is about?). I wouldn't either. If you aren't happy with BoB's decisions, then settle it with them or don't use their service, make your own, whatever.

What happens if judge.me decides a way you don't like? New scammer tag thread? Make an account called judge.me in order to tag it? You guys are ridiculous.
2062  Other / Meta / Re: BFL advertising with the old specs — Bait & Switch on: April 05, 2013, 04:36:52 AM
Did anyone try contacting them to see if they can update? Seems like a more reasonable approach.

I agree it's kinda in bad taste to make this public through.

Thank you. I have a feeling a lot of people feel the same way but don't want to speak up against John to some nobody.

I simply don't have enough time to reply to each of your PM's, especially when each got worse in succession. I refrained from posting the PM's until it got to this:

You clearly do not understand the term 'cyber bullying' and the hatred displayed by the members of this forum to my own psychological health. If you do not follow the news, this is a serious offence which is being cracked down upon. And by your latest pm shows that you are now involved. Where's this forum hosted? Netherlands?

Well done. You clearly have no position or right to be a moderator on a forum when you do NOTHING!

Calm down. It was one pm that should have been resolved instantly, it really was not a big task. This further supports how unfit you are to be a mod if you cannot handle ONE simple request. YOU chose to make it difficult.

Why are you so dense? He clearly stated it's agaonst policy, if he did that, it would be undone when admin logged on and John chastised for doing things improperly.

Doing the right thing aint always easy, if it was everyone would do it.

Also it isn't your thread, it belongs to the forum/community, just because we have the ability to remove it doesn't mean we have the right to do so.

I like to think we live in a free society. If someone is bullied in real life or online, THIS IS a legal issue. It does not matter what rules this forum has when the forum MUST abide to the Law. This forum is not above the Law and I do not see why it is so hard for yourself and others to see this. Although as someone mentioned, who is going to stick up for the new guy when everyone is established in bed with John. I do not care to see how this ends. I just wanted to show everyone the true John. I know for a lot of you this is cognitive dissonance so you will react blindly to whoever rises up and shout hatred. But a least I showed post count and online titles DO NOT make you any kind of success.

A free society, except when someone hurts your feelings? Sounds real free.

And an easy solution to "cyber bullying"..log out and get out. Or ignore button.

HA! I could link you to a number of harassment cases as your arrogance astounds me. But I couldn't give a toss, this is just too blatant. Maybe your the one trolling?

If my arrogance astounds you now, you should get to know me better, it knows no bounds.

Also, if there's any issues with my moderation feel free to chime in. I'm simply sick of such users that come around, trying to get me do something that they want, and throw a tantrum when they don't. I guess there's some truth to my title there.
<----

Good work John! Everyone clearly thinks your right from all the responses! I'm glad you showed the forum how you abuse your powers and the level of of maturity that you possess. It was a pretty simple request, you are obviously unfit for the job.

A clarification to anyone's who's reading this: As per the forum policy, we do not remove threads where there are replies by other users unless there is express permission by the other participants. OT replies are not included in this policy, of course.

Sorry John, don't back down now. You've really done one here. Also if I wrote a topic, I should be allowed to delete it. If I express distress over a topic that is heated towards me, I should have the right for it to be deleted. If someone asks politely to remove a thread which is affecting them, I would have thought any rational human being in your position would have sympathised.

Yet here we are. Good job John! I really approve of how you moderate these forums (sarcasm) and I think a lot of people have changed how they view you now. Not doing your scabby tip jars any favour, I guess they will slow to a trickle now.

We aren't going to censor people just because someone hurt your feelings. Don't take your anger out on the wrong people.
2067  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: how can BFL still be advertising on the forum on: April 04, 2013, 06:14:26 AM
this is why the bitcoin community sort of sucks its full of scammers with no checks on their manipulations of people... nobody is held responsible.  if people actually knew those BFL guys like luke they'd probably hassle em for real answers, and they may even get a solid ass whooping if they refused to pose any evidence.

that is the dark side of complete anonymity...

They aren't anonymous, people are just all talk or want someone else to take care of the big bad guys for them.

I'm not giving him a scammer tag. By using betsofbitco.in, you agreed that betsofbitco.in staff would be the ones to decide events. It's none of my business how he does this.
So if they decide bets based on who pays them the most under the table, would they still not be tagged as a scammer?

Scammer tags here truly are useless.

I wonder what's more useless, scammer tags or posters with arguments that consist entirely of strawman fallacies?

GO!

Edit: I'm just kidding, it's obviously you.

2071  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 02, 2013, 05:43:50 PM
This "shipping" by BFL is NOT comparable to what was shipped by Avalon.
You mean when Avalon "shipped", and people went 3 weeks without even seeing a single unit in customer hands? They were shipping like 10 a day, and then taking 4 weeks to clear customs.

Wait, are you using shipped in scare quotes to attack Avalon (who has shipped), in defense of BFL? That's some funny shit man.

2073  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone Thinking Of Dumping Bitcoin In Favour of Litecoin? on: April 02, 2013, 05:11:21 PM
When Bitcoin mining becomes only for those rich few that can afford an ASIC, the GPU miners will turn to Litecoin.

Litecoin will have a wider base of miner enthusiasts and its popularity will grow and surpass Bitcoin.

ASICs will kill Bitcoin, the future currency has to be for the masses to be involved with not a new central bank of ASIC elite!

Go ahead. There will be a Litecoin Asic. And it will be more expensive and more Elite.

Except if you want a speed boost there is no way to efficiently parallel compute the Scrypt algorithm without throwing loads of money at it to the point it becomes prohibitively expensive. This is proven mathematically in the Scrypt paper - http://www.tarsnap.com/scrypt/scrypt.pdf (Litecoin uses Scrypt for this reason)

People will bring out ASICs and FGPAs but unless there is a computer science breakthrough the performance increase won't be dramatic on a per dollar basis. Simply not possible.

So only the rich can afford it? That sure sounds like a better plan than making it affordable and available to the masses.

Hello everyone,

As it is part of running a betting service, sometimes we have to make some decisions that will not please all of our users. This is certainly one of these cases. I agree that the bet description statements are barely satisfied but the bet is actually on "shipping" of a commercial product. To the best of our judgment the pictured device is still an internal development unit within the company premises, even if it is somehow "owned" by a non-employee. As far as I can see even BFL doesn't officially claim shipping. Under these circumstances we can not rule the statement as false. Our decision is currently not final and we will be listening your input for a few days before the final decision. Feel free to raise your opinion.

FWIW, I agree, having an in house prototype a dev is working on isn't "shipped".
2077  Other / Meta / Re: ThiagoCMC, moderator using his power to censorship comments against him on: April 02, 2013, 06:05:42 AM
AFAIK the forum policy is not deleting any personal information that was posted. Theymos can clarify that though - I am not sure of the extent of this policy.

John,

Please, let me know if I did something wrong.

I think that this is ridiculous mostly because on that exposed document, which Augusto and Rodrigo grabbed from here, there are others peoples addresses! Not only my!!!

People that have nothing to do with this are being exposed there (my private Avalon ticket document). I don't know but, it doesn't seem right.

Thanks,
Thiago

Probably shouldn't have deleted those, posting people's information is fine (it isn't private if you shared it with others, should only share it with those you trust).

No need to step down though, everyone makes mistakes, moderators aren't exempt from that.

I don't have an opinion on the scammer accusations, haven't looked and probably won't, I don't even speak the native language of the people involved.

I deleted it because the post was strictly a necro bump, and had no real relevance to the thread itself.

Edit:

How dare you question our lord Satoshi's importance! When He returns, you will surely be punished for your heresy.

Banned for trolling  Cool.

Yes use the report system, it's much more efficient now and will be acted quickly (if it's correct).

Sorry, the dictionary is clearly biased. Not a good reference at all.

people with certain kind of dispositions for which they can't help themselves for having
I don't know what urges they have, but it is actions that make them homo, not desires alone. I also want to rape 15 year old girl but I will never act upon my urges to do such bad things. We are humans and we can do what is right and suppress what is wrong. They chose not only secretly engage in perversion, but they stick this in all others faces. This is when from simple ridicule of homos the things get violent.

Oh the horror.  Gay people use Bitcoin.  So do furries.  So do drug users.  So do pornographers.  No doubt some paedophiles do as well.
I don't care. They are just another nodes and anonymous tx. Probably only furries are on same level with gay people but the furries have not made moves for them being accepted as "normal" part of society and there is no laws protecting furries as exclusive group. And when I was 23 I fell in love with 16 year old girl. But she told me she is 20 and looked as such. I'm now totally pedophile by the law.

You might want to live in a world where only white heterosexual libertarians are associated with Bitcoin but it's not the reality
I'm not libertarian but share some of the views with them. I prefer the don't tell don't ask approach. If someone who is in Bitcoin wants to come out as a successful SR seller or homosexual porn distributor, it will not surprise me at all. Actually it is very likely that each of the nodes connected to me are not ordinary people at all.

Wow. Homosexuality is two consenting adults doing something they want to do. Raping a girl (no matter the age) is forcing yourself on another against their will and without their consent, which is wrong in any society that values personal liberty and rights. Not even close to the same thing.
