1401  Other / Meta / Re: Unreasonable Account Banning, Help Please. on: January 06, 2014, 10:21:13 PM
I know rules are not black and white, it's just that I fear that many people will complain a lot if you prevent them from receiving their sig money
And I don't think moderators will be wrong often, but I do think that some will cry about how you're censoring them and that full white or full black rules make censorship not credible

They'll get over it.
1402  Other / Meta / Re: New reply notification link no longer leading to the first unread reply? on: January 06, 2014, 02:41:54 AM
It's a bug in EasyList for Adblock Plus. All links (including "anchor" links) are blocked when immediately inside of a post <td>:
Code:
bitcointalk.org##td[style="padding: 1px 1px 0 1px;"] > a

Complain to EasyList.

It's impossible for an Adblock Plus filter to block all of the forum's ads. Some ads can be individually blocked, but not all forum ads in general. They should stop trying or they're going to keep breaking things for their users.

From this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=398729.00), I don't blame you for not seeing it since the thread is incorrectly named, it's called a watchlist problem when it has nothing to do with the watchlist.
1403  Other / Meta / Re: Praise G-D for the "Ignore Boards Preferences" settings on: January 06, 2014, 12:59:50 AM
Yeah it's getting laughably ridiculous, there are dozens being released everyday. Too bad really, alt currencies used to be worth reading occasionally. It's gotten to the point where reading and trying to sort through the crap is a complete waste of time, much less moderating it. It's too bad there isn't much that can be done that would be fair and not time consuming.

I like this thread, makes it obvious how many giveaway claiming bots exist.
1405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Please Stop on: January 06, 2014, 12:52:52 AM
Most altcoins have been a joke for some time now, I'm glad so many are coming out, so that will become more clear to everyone. Though I'm not sure what can be done (that's fair and not time consuming) to make the alt currencies board less worthless than it is now. It's a shame, it used to be worthwhile to read. Now it's just a bunch of tools pumping the next crapcoin so they can make some profit off the newbies. It won't stop until people stop supporting this garbage.

When exactly have I asked for free money?

Is there a better reason this thread was moved, as it is completely relevant to bitcoin, other than to dissipate truth?

It's not very relevant to bitcoin, only other place it would go is pol/society but you already made a thread there, so it was either trash or off topic.
Also my illuminati handler has told me you're dangerous and your truths must be hidden.

Good job reading:

I will pay back the value of the food within four months from my mining op if the dollar does not collapse.

No you won't.

I believe it is very relevant to bitcoin if my death will trigger the collapse of the world economies, collapse of society, and ultimately the collapse of bitcoin.  Definitely something people should be informed of if their bitcoins are about to be useless, don't you think?

Why did you do something so long term like buying a mining rig then?
1407  Other / Meta / Re: Problems with tor and the forum on: January 04, 2014, 03:37:09 PM
Protecting people's privacy is a fail policy?

Please explain how banning Tor exit nodes protects people's privacy.  Not complaining, simply curious.

It doesn't, but not letting mods see ips does, and since mods do the majority of the banning these days, it's bound to happen. There are flaws with most of the solutions I've seen posed but I'd rather not elaborate for various reasons.

guybrushthreepwood and hilariousandco, you are local trolls or what? I already wrote that after the first game everything will be clear about a scam or not.

Yeah it'll be clear all right, clearly a scam when you disappear. Fuck off already.
1409  Other / Meta / Re: Alternate crypto is huge on: January 04, 2014, 08:23:48 AM
Three new alt-coin subforums added = my "show unread posts" is instantly flooded with new scamcoin announce threads. These add nothing to the community, and should be banished. Lock the entire sections, and replace it all with a single moderator sticky to other forums these people set up on their own, and make altcoin talk here against the board policies.

Add those boards to your ignore boards list if you don't want to see them in your unread posts. I actually manually adjusted settings for people who ignored Alt Cryptocurrencies so they would ignore the new subsections. There were only three such people...
One of the members ignoring alt currency is me, and I had to go into "ignore boards" and check the ignore boxes for the new forums - they were not checked. The same thing happens when a new local sub is created.

I would take that to mean there's more than 3 and he missed something.

I think the fact that so few people are utilizing that feature means it's not a good solution. Alt currencies can be somewhat interesting sometimes, so I don't want to completely ignore the board just to make sure that looking at the latest threads is relevant to bitcoin, seeing it's still a bitcoin forum. The alt spam is only going to get worse, there's even automated altcoin generators now https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=396991.0

Maybe it could depend on where you're checking it from, if I'm in bitcoin discussion, and I click that link, then it should exclude alt currencies and foreign languages. If I'm in alt currencies, then it will exclude bitcoin forum threads.

Some people might consider a scammer/douche who asks for free money to be the greedy one.

Just send your bitcoins to the address in my sig instead. At least I'll be honest and say you'll never get it back. And stop posting your scams in the newbie forum, don't you feel the slightest bit guilty targetting newcomers?
1416  Other / Meta / Re: Alternate crypto is huge on: January 03, 2014, 05:29:55 AM
well, they just divided thread by "spam type".
It's still the same mess and actually I expected a much stronger line from bitcointalk

That it is, its still the crammed messy organized chaos that we have grown to love, however you should now be able to more or less what sort of spam you are looking for, be it mining help, looking for a new coin, or looking to buy/sell stuff. All of our expectations were zero, so the subforums are blowing minds.

Well I didn't expect this to happen. Seems like more work for the mods though.

Very slightly, its divided just enough to soothe my OCD fueled homicidal rage that built inside of me everytime I saw someone try to sell something, or announce a new interesting service and their listing disappeared under piles of "BUY BUY BUY THIS NEW SCAMCOIN OR YOU WILL BE SORRY"

Good luck SaltySpitoon...

Hehe, thanks.

Ugh, and so it begins...

Batman Begins?

Beginning of altcointalk. Just curious how long until the entire forum has been replicated under alt currencies.

So did I...

Not really a correct answer to give to additional requests except 'Maybe, they've caved before, post/pm more about it'.

I see you with a rating of 4:

A lot of people are going to see different trust ratings if they're using anything besides default.

I'm using DefaultTrust with a depth of 3 instead of 2. I guess that's why it is different.

And that's not default.

It was my choice to remove Goat, nobody asked or told me to. I just don't think it's very fair to negative feedback for something that was settled a long time ago, and I felt responsible for it.

No hard feelings on my end, I like Goat once we got to talking and settled our differences.
