Yes, the newbie section was a good thing.
I would hunt for easy questions with no reply and help the newbies.

It's back. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0
1362  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread [Self-Moderated] on: January 25, 2014, 07:33:40 AM
"ignore" is kind of pointless when so many users love to quote the trolls and I have to see their blather anyways. If anything, this thread has strengthened my critical analysis skills. I read, think, then disregard about 90% of everything in here. Just like watching the news on tv, you learn to read between the lines and spot outright manipulation and lies.

Yeah I've tried to deal with it but so many people are intent on responding to it, giving them the attention they want, and making sure the conversation is going to center around that, it's kind of pointless. Kind of like trying to stop raccoons from coming in your yard while there's people throwing food out the windows, just ain't gonna happen. Oh well.

Cool, TD Is one of Newegg's biggest competitors.
1364  Other / Meta / Re: Time to Reorientate this Forum towards Cryptocurrencies in general. on: January 23, 2014, 07:53:15 AM
Bitcointalk does have what seems to be an identity crisis.

If altcoin discussions are even allowed here, which they are, even finally receiving more sub-forums to keep altcoin topics from spilling into the Bitcoin areas, is this really a Bitcoin forum anymore?

I've always felt that this forum should either A) fully commit to being the largest cryptocurrency general forum and rebrand itself as such or B) Remove the Altcoin sections entirely and scrub the board of anything but Bitcoin specific content. It seems like Altcoins here are only tolerated, in that case why have anything to do with them at all? Many other altcoin forums have sprung up in recent months.

In the end, this forum doesn't know what it wants to be, and neither does its leadership.

Agreed.
1365  Other / Meta / Re: Changing profile name ???? on: January 21, 2014, 05:50:39 PM
Contact theymos he will change it for you.
No he won't, stop bothering the admin with rubbish like this or are you just posting for the sake of your prime dice payouts?

OP, name changes are only available to donators, vip and staff members.

Considering I only signed up today and have only made a few posts then no this used to be allowed people used to contact him and he changed it instead of being a asshole about it maybe you should explain that it doesn't work like that any more.

Who just signed up today? You log in on the wrong sockpuppet account?
1366  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We have Subforums! on: January 20, 2014, 11:01:44 AM
Too little. If Bitcointalk wants to be the leader of cryptocurrency forums, it needs to do more for the Alts.

We don't.
1367  Other / Meta / Re: End of newbie restrictions; ban changes on: January 20, 2014, 10:59:58 AM
Might be better to leave the newbie section, I'm sure there's still going to be lots of "Hi guys I'm new, how do I bitcoin?".
1368  Other / Meta / Re: Time to Reorientate this Forum towards Cryptocurrencies in general. on: January 20, 2014, 06:42:26 AM
Dogecoin is so last week. Let me guess, you're mad cause you got left holding the bag, and you want to spam bitcoin discussion about dogecoin hoping more pump and dumpers will come in and save you.
1369  Other / Meta / Re: Why was my thread moved to Games and Rounds? on: January 17, 2014, 05:55:37 PM
Yeah that's fine.
1370  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: January 15, 2014, 04:17:39 PM
You do know what drop ship means right?
1371  Other / Meta / Re: Can an adult mod please move thread? on: January 15, 2014, 04:14:11 PM
I can't tell if you're trolling or just dumb.
1372  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BitcoinStore.com (Beta) - Electronics super store with over 500K items! on: January 15, 2014, 03:58:16 PM
It's an FX chip, it probably threw itself off a cliff in disgrace.

Also Bitcoinstore drop ships most of their stuff, they probably never even touched or had that box, they aren't the scammers here.
1373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: REQUEST: Requirements for new ALT Coins. on: January 15, 2014, 03:46:20 AM
I don't think it would be fair to impose this on altcoins. It's a free market, after all.

However, I wouldn't be against a new subforum being made for coins that cut it above the rest. Weekly votes could determine which coins make it in or out. So the main announcements subforum could be a sort of free for all, but only the best coins would make it into the new subforum.

Voting wouldn't work, they'd just buy their way in, like they do now with the exchanges.

I knew that was coming Cheesy.
1376  Other / Meta / Re: Meta these days... on: January 12, 2014, 01:54:21 AM
Is this kind of thread reportable?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=384594.0

It's in the wrong section, so probably. But then again, around half of the threads in the newb section are, so I don't know how productive it will be to keep reporting them daily, and also whether the mods will get pissed off with all the "in the wrong section" reports that come flooding in constantly.

I don't think there is such a thing as too many reports. Seems the real problem in that situation would be 'not enough mods'.
1377  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: STOP POSTING RESERVED on: January 12, 2014, 01:45:37 AM

Yes those as well, they contribute nothing except spam.
1378  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / STOP POSTING RESERVED, ALSO NO GIVEAWAYS/PROMOS ETC. on: January 12, 2014, 01:28:36 AM
Stop posting reserved, watching, subbed, or any other variation of placeholder. It's getting ridiculous, if you don't have anything to say, then don't post. If you're only doing it so you can follow the thread, stop it and use the watchlist instead (all you have to do is hit the watch button, it's even less effort than posting crappy replies). And don't start replacing them with one word comments like "cool" or "like" either.

Report reserved posts and their variations when you see them, they will get deleted.

Also, giveaways are no longer allowed due to the high volume of spam it generates, this is a discussion forum. Incentivizing people to post in your thread will result in your thread being locked. This also means no "Post 'interested' to claim x" or anything along those lines. See here for more details. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=434310.0
1379  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to log with a bot? on: January 11, 2014, 11:40:26 AM
Yes, Chartbuddy is a bot that posts in the wall observer tnread to post market depth, so there's already a precedent for it. If you're just editing your post I don't see a problem.
1380  Other / Off-topic / Re: Shit things that has happened to you today on: January 11, 2014, 01:50:07 AM
Why, so you can lose it again?
