There are quite a lot of them in e.g. project development.
None of us care about mastercoin and have very little idea what it is, elaborate please, and why it isn't relevant to bitcoin. Keep in mind there's really only...3, maybe 4 people (including me) who can/will do anything about it. I honestly know very little about MasterCoin, but it is built on top of the Bitcoin protocol and not a new blockchain, right?
This is about the extent of my knowledge of it as well, beyond that I have no clue what it is, or what it does, or why I should care, or not care about it. This isn't the first complaint though, so I'd like to see this get hashed out one way or another, so we can be fair. Nobody has cared enough to do that up to this point, and nothing will change until that changes. I'll give my quick impression of it here and why I've left the threads so far. My impression of it is that mastercoin is like a service that uses the bitcoin blockchain, like ripple is to xrp? It seems relevant enough for the bitcoin forum based on that, though my impression is likely flawed. |

I read the OP and the several replies before they were deleted, but it didn't really make any sense, I don't see what the forum has to do with the PIA incident.

Bikes will blow most cars off the road, mostly due to their high horsepower to weight ratio. A motorcycle will weigh around 350-450 pounds, and can have up to ~250 HP. That's a lot of power and very little weight to haul. If you want to keep up with a liter bike you'll need 900+ horsepower for a 4,000 lb car. For example, a Ninja 650r (not a liter bike, only a two cylinder 650cc), which is mostly geared towards commuters/new riders, has a power to weight ratio of almost 350 BHP/ton, with "only" 71 BHP, because it only weighs around 400 pounds. Bikes can't keep up with race cars though, F1 cars and super karts and the like, they don't have the traction nor the aerodynamics. 4 wheels +downforce wins in the end. As for the point of a car, most aren't concerned with being the fastest thing on the road. Fast enough is usually fast enough, leave the racing for track days. |

I hate to be the one to say this, but vBulletin has a way of detecting multiple accounts, and where they link to.. surprised SMF doesn't have this, or something like this hasn't been coded yet for SMF, especially for a site this size. You know?

The whole "we take if it's a closed bet" is a harsh fix to shitty problem of late bettors who'd would make the site nearly untenable if they were not discouraged. can you explain how exactly it would make the site nearly untenable? That's business. that was the worst analogy i've ever read. here's a better one. you go to a table, and place a bet. you hand over your chips. only then do they let you know that the table isn't accepting anymore bets. however, they are going to keep your bet because it's a rule. there's no good logic behind the rule, only that it's a rule. THAT is exploitation. That's not a very accurate analogy either. A better analogy would be that someone went up to the table, said they were placing a bet and that the money was on the way, but no way to guarantee it. Money didn't arrive until the deadline for placing bets had passed. It's not very nice to keep it, but they did say they would up front. And I don't think anyone ever accused MP of being nice. |
