2103  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: Rename the "Press" board to "Spammer of the Month" board on: November 13, 2021, 12:44:02 PM
Come on folks. Give the mods a break. They're too busy banning users at scammer's behest so surely they don't have time for Press board plus they certainly most definitely can't keep track how many times the same user is reported.

The entire forum should be renamed to scamandspamtalk to taper the expectations a little bit. It hasn't been about Bitcoin for a while, has it.

Or maybe a hard fork can fix it. Bitcointalk SV. Yeah, that's the ticket.

So you've got Lamar as well huh Moon?

I do. Everyone has a bad night once in a while so I'm not particularly worried just yet. I appreciate all the games when he gave me 10+ points just on rushing yards. Even yesterday he squeaked out 15 points, which is more than e.g. Mahomes or Allen or Stafford (my backup QB) managed last week.
2105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: November 12, 2021, 12:39:12 PM
That was the worst game I have ever seen Lamar Play!

He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn all game.

Ugh what an ugly game. He threw an interception in the last minute just to spite me.

Well, they're playing all of their remaining games up north, so no more "too hot" or "too muggy" excuses LOL.

The Panthers have signed Cam Newton

Is he starting this week? I'm kinda rooting for him to get benched in 3rd quarter in favor of PJ Walker.
2107  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [POLL] Do vaccines kill people? on: November 11, 2021, 09:24:42 PM
Any stats for smoke detectors?

Does anyone in Texas even own a smoke detector? Maybe if there was a promotion "buy a smoke detector get a free shotgun" in Walmart. Come to think of it, might work with vaccines too.
2108  Other / Politics & Society / Re: American Gun Ownership: The Positive Impacts of Law-Abiding Citizens Owning Guns on: November 11, 2021, 03:46:05 PM
And if someone breaks into my house in the dead of night, my chances of survival are much higher if I grab my shotgun as opposed to calling the police, who will take over 10 minutes to arrive at my home.

Unless that someone has a gun, which they are very likely to have, and shoots or otherwise disables you first, which they're are more likely to do if they think you can have a gun.

If everyone in Manhattan carried a firearm for self-defense, instead of only criminals, I believe violence would decline. Criminals are far less likely to choose victims that are able to fight back.

I've been robbed at gunpoint. If I had a gun and tried to use it, I'd be likely dead or severely injured. Most people have no chance to succeed in self-defense against well-prepared attackers. Not something a gun/ammo seller would tell you though.

And by the way, wasn't it you defending them saying they'll refund loosing bets if the possible winnings exceed 100 k euros? It's been a week but you haven't given any examples yet.

You're the one making the allegation to the contrary so it would be up to you to prove it. I'm not defending anyone and I already said that's it's a shitty practice to cancel bets instead of preventing them, but that doesn't make you right.
2111  Other / Meta / Re: Some members are more priviledged than others? on: November 10, 2021, 12:24:20 PM
You are grasping at straws. The issue is not that he posted a thread in the wrong sub. The issue is that he repeatedly moved his thread back into the wrong sub after his thread was properly moved out of currency exchange. He had zero intention of actually trading any bitcoin.

Except there is nothing in the rules requiring that you have to actually conduct a trade (nor would it be enforceable) but don't let that stop you from stating it as a fact.

Scammers pretend to be trading and scam people, proven by scam accusations, negative trust, flags, etc. Those threads stay because reasons (allegedly potential mod bias).

A non-scammer may or may not pretend to be trading, posts warnings against scams, that thread get moved because suddenly mods grow an inexplicable immunity to bias and can certainly definitely decide that the person had no intention of actually trading.

What could possibly go wrong here Roll Eyes
2112  Other / Meta / Re: Some members are more priviledged than others? on: November 10, 2021, 04:02:08 AM
In order for a thread to be posted in the section it was posted in, it needs to meet the following criteria:
Quote
Currency exchange (child board of Marketplace) -  Buying/selling bitcoins using other fiat currencies.
His thread very clearly did not meet this criteria. This is true despite his attempt to pretend to be trading bitcoin.

"other fiat currencies", like Bitcoin is a fiat currency?

Anyway, I'm sorry to say that Royse777 must be banned too.

Also ban this user who created a clearly fake announcement with a sole purpose of warning against altcoin scams.

Better yet ban all scammers immediately because they're obviously not "buying/selling bitcoins" but scamming.

Or we could just pretend that scammers are doing legitimate business and ban users saying otherwise.
2113  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: FortuneJack making 120,000 dollars disappear from my account! on: November 10, 2021, 03:39:39 AM
-The bet "who will win the rest of the match" is the same bet as "full time result", and thus all 4 bets are similar

Yeah who could have seen that coming.

And last BUT NOT LEAST: Ok, so now they're telling everybody that they have the right to not honour their bets according to their terms and conditions. Does their license authorise them to offer gambling services to French players? Do they have "the right" to do that according to their terms? Because I have passed KYC with them (they obliged before a withdrawal) and continued to offer those services. Interesting point to check, but I will be consulting with lawyers.

I have faith in you, I think you have the necessary skills to fuck this up even more and possibly forfeit the 95k euros that you legitimately won. If the first lawyer you talk to starts laughing, don't give up, find a more greedy lawyer.
2114  Other / Meta / Re: Some members are more priviledged than others? on: November 10, 2021, 03:15:48 AM
I think you know very well that once a thread is moved by a moderator, it should not be moved back without first getting the mod (or someone above him) to agree. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any point in having moderators move threads.

I think you know very well that I was asking which rule did he break that the thread had to be moved to begin with.

nutildah was clearly warned by multiple people, including myself

Sockpuppets don't really count as multiple people.
2115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: November 10, 2021, 02:57:39 AM
Look at it this way, root for GB to get to the Superbowl and then Have Brady beat them to snail snot. Wink

Can't happen, they're both in the same conference. Last year Bucs knocked Packers out in the NFC championship game.
2116  Other / Meta / Re: Why nutildah has been temp banned on: November 10, 2021, 02:52:57 AM
I will continue moving the thread back where it belongs. If I am banned for that, it confirms I shouldn't be wasting a single nother second of my time here anyway.

Look, I'll give you the courtesy and tell you that staff members aren't going to continue playing cat and mouse with you and if you move it back again you'll get the same ban as the op did. You've done this many more times than him now and many other members have been banned in the past for repeatedly moving their threads back where they don't belong. I've given my reasons why the thread doesn't belong there above but something tells me for some reason you're looking for a ban so you can feel a martyr for something. I'd suggest you just move on. This really shouldn't be a big issue.
2117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: November 09, 2021, 03:42:48 PM
We're officially at the halfway point of the 17+bye regular season, so who do we like for Super Bowl? It looks wide open to me.

By division:

  • AFC East: Bills got beaten by Jaguars of all teams, still at the top of the division but Patriots are on a roll (RB injuries might affect that though).
  • AFC North: Ravens and Steelers are at the top of their division but just barely, and they're winning their games against mediocre opponents just barely.
  • AFC South: Titans... not sure if they can really do it without Henry, but they're already 7-2 in a weak division so they're pretty much guaranteed get to the playoffs and they seem to be hopeful that Henry will be back by then.
  • AFC West: Chargers and Raiders might spoil the season for Chiefs.
  • NFC East: Cowboys looked really poor against Broncos last week but again, a weak division will likely carry them to the playoffs regardless, to be eliminated immediately.
  • NFC North: Packers got screwed by Rodgers but he's likely back for the next game. Lions definitely still in the picture.
  • NFC South: Bucs are strong as ever. Not sure if Saints can hold on to a playoff spot, Falcons are quite terrible this year but have a more favorable remaining schedule.
  • NFC West: Rams got beaten by Henry-less Titans and with Wilson back at the Seahawks... nah, whom am I kidding, it will be Rams and Cardinals in the playoffs.

So I don't know... Buccaneers vs Chargers in the SB? Packers vs Bills? I'm not putting any money on that just yet.
2118  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal for high reporters on: November 09, 2021, 12:51:53 PM
I would prefer to get an explanation why it's bad (could be short, picked from a list of 3-4 predefined reasons). If it's my cock-up that's fine, but if it's something mods didn't find proof of then maybe I need to resubmit a better report, or if it's something that's not considered against the rules that'd be helpful to learn too.

Other than that, an occasional bad report is not worth worrying about.
2119  Other / Meta / Re: Some members are more priviledged than others? on: November 09, 2021, 04:45:02 AM
This thread is an example of certain people believing they are above the rules, can do whatever they want, and see above the rest of the community.

Which rule did nutildah break?

The thread in question hasn’t been updated in months (except for an attempt to exploit what certain people believed was a loophole). The purpose of the thread in question is not to protect forum members. The purpose is to upset forum members (aka troll).

Bullshit. Hypertrolls posting all sorts of garbage for years on end never get banned, and good luck trying to remove an off-topic post if at least one word refers to the topic, yet a thread about currency exchange on the Currency Exchange board draws a ban. For a forum that supposedly promotes free speech and doesn't moderate scams, it's bizarre to see mods going to such great lengths to punish people speaking out against scams. Makes sense that you would cheer that.

What does this have to do with Bitcointalk, other than being an example of why people shouldn't be shitcoining?
