There is no way to delete or edit post on thread that have been moved to the archive board.
It is not possible to delete or edit a thread in any board, although in the archival board it includes replies to a thread as well.
There is no restrictions to editing a thread or reply in the archival board.

The thread in question is locked, so the OP won't be able to do anything with it.

On the other hand, we're dealing with a sockpuppeting troll, so who knows what their problem is.

Remains the same. I can't see the writing "report to moderator"

Russians are buyin? Rubla is down 30% today.

Real fun will start when the dollar and the euro get down 30% in a single day.

Don't worry, Putin will tell you what the price of the dollar is and will force you to sell it at that price.

Russian authorities told Russian exporting companies to sell 80% of their foreign currency revenues on the market, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said.

Sheer CCCP awesomeness.

Russian foreign policy, as subtle as a drunk bear:

The supply of weapons to the ideological heirs of the Nazi accomplice S. Bandera makes us ask a rhetorical question - how comprehensive and complete was the process of denazification in Germany itself after the defeat in World War II?

But Putin also fights back the bigger empire that threatens his country land security.

Right. Ukraine "threatens" Putin because it might join NATO, so let's occupy Ukraine and have a new border with four actual NATO countries. Hmmm... there are more "threats" now. Gotta occupy them too.

Putin the little snowflake will not feel "safe" until he owns all of Europe. Even then, there is the US just across the pond...

It looks like Ukraine was supposed to be defeated by Saturday. Russian state news agency published an article about "new world" (or "new peace"; never ceases to amuse me how "world" and "peace" is the same word in Russian but I digress), which sounds a lot like a declaration of victory. Then promptly took it down.

Does anyone have a valid, non-scam BTC address to donate to Ukraine>

I did not mean to make it right, please don't get me wrong. What I meant is that it's obviously wrong for anyone to invade other country who are independent. But for strategic interests world leaders are doing is from the beginning.

There isn't really any plausible strategic interest for Russia (as in Russian people, or Russian Federation; not the current clown dictator) to make Ukraine an impoverished, oppressed, resentful nation by attempting to invade it. It's just madman's dream to turn history back. This never works. And the Soviet history is horrid. No sane person wants a repeat of that.

Lecturing Ukrainians to stay neutral is no different than telling them to join Russia. They should treat any such "advice" like they treated that Russian warship.
1608  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 28, 2022, 12:13:25 AM
Here is where the main problem - NATO.

Imagine (hypothetically) there is a preparation for Canada to ally with Russia what would you think US would do. Just allow Canada to give Canadian land for Russian troops and make America vulnerable? The world leaders need power, they are power hungry and your precedent is just a bait for them.

False equivalence. Canada was not subject to US occupation for decades or centuries prior to this hypothetical scenario, so it's unlikely to look for protection against a potential US military invasion the way Eastern Europe looks for protection against a potential (and now very real) Russian invasion.

But even if it was somehow a valid example, it would be wrong for the US to invade Canada in such circumstances and it is wrong for Russia to invade Ukraine. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.

What harm these 144.1 million people did that they will face the consequences of the sanctions coming from all over the world?

And how many of those 144.1 million people are on the streets of Russian cities protesting against the aggression their government is committing against other nations?

Roughly zero, because protests are illegal and they get arrested as soon as they try to.

LOL I came here to post this.

I'm still amazed how there are scattered small groups or even lone tanks/BMPs just riding across the country... what lunatic planned this "operation" (rhetorical question).

I think he knows he entered a war he cannot win so I think he is looking for some sort of way out and a promise that Ukraine
will never join NATO.  Which I think the Ukrainian side will reject.  The whole 'meeting' is BS of course.  Just buying time to refuel.

Ukraine could agree to not join NATO, the trouble is that both sides have a vastly different understanding of what that means. Putin likely wants to keep Russian troops in the country and/or have a puppet government. Ukrainians would likely want some sort of security guarantee but not by Russia, which really doesn't leave a lot of options that aren't related to NATO. Maybe China can step in here Smiley

And using a last resort nuclear financial option has a lot to do with reality? Logic being taking someones money and bringing financial collapse is not a declaration of war? Kinda weak if that's the best we're playing with

If it was done out of the blue that wouldn't be nice. But the war was declared by Putin. That's the reality. If you have a way to stop him I'm sure the world is listening.
1612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 27, 2022, 05:56:42 PM
Ok so we got the odds, now on to figuring out the prize. Upside is easy, Putin is toppled Russia is a shithole. But downside is...nuclear war? The best our diplomacy can come up with is lets use a nuclear financial option on a 69yr Putin, and hope really hard he doesn't take it as a declaration of war as he said he would?

I wasn't talking about the nuke odds, only about the odds of uniting for or against Putin if the situation in Russia gets really dire.

As we've seen recently and not just recently, things Putin says have little to do with reality. He may launch or not launch the nukes for any reason or no reason at all. Trying to appease him, or to guess what he'll do next - doesn't work.
1613  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ukrainian Scam Donation Posts and Users on: February 27, 2022, 05:39:49 PM
Just report for begging, those posts get removed.

If you want to donate, find a reputable charity. Don't worry too much about the military part, NATO will shovel their outdated equipment into Ukraine and call  it "billions of dollars of support". Take care of humanitarian needs if you can. People will start running out of food and essentials very quickly.
1614  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 27, 2022, 05:30:49 PM
Right, nice, so going all in on a hope that their total financial collapse would divide Russians instead of uniting them. Where do you put the odds at?

Quite the contrary, uniting against Putin and his cronies is a better outcome for everyone involved. The odds of that are probably higher than the other way round, because the lies from Kremlin are already outrageous and will have to get even more blatant if they try to keep the lid on it.

Of course Soviets were able to sustain the lying for 70 years but they didn't have the intertubes.
1615  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 27, 2022, 04:42:22 PM
To secure their livelihoods we have no choice but to declare war including the use of nuclear weapons on those cities.

I think you mean to commit a suicide... nuking the West won't un-collapse the ruble, it will just turn Russia and most of the world into a radioactive dump.

Russians are reasonably smart, they will eventually figure out that the best way to fix this is to get rid of the Kremlin clown, it's just taking them a minute.

This friendly Englishman chap makes excellent travel vids, and he speaks fluent Russian.
Here's his latest, traveling across Ukraine, as he chats with the locals, the day before invasion.

That dude is a legend. He seems to genuinely enjoy post-soviet shitholes and easily gets along with anyone (except babushkas on metro apparently). I've binged his stuff more than Netflix I think.

You forgot to say that every user must extract the downloaded zip file before "Load unpacked" so that the extension file is easy to find.

Thanks, I've clarified the instructions in the OP.

Have you considered fighting for your country and for your fellow countrymen?

Have you considered not lecturing someone trying to save their family?

I think when I fully take care of the safety of my family, I will also consider all possible options for protecting my land.
1619  Other / Meta / Re: [HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart on: February 27, 2022, 12:56:16 PM
It shows only if you have reported the post, is it possible to add an optional feature to show if the post was reported by someone else together with displaying the status of that report? It's not really that important, but I know that some users care about their stats and don't want bad reports. Maybe there could be a counter of some sort, so if the post was reported let's say 5 times by 5 different users, it would be shown. That way, those who are sensitive to seeing bad reports don't have to act on it if they can see that the previous reports have stayed unhandled by the mods.

Unfortunately the extension can't see what other users reported.

This basically just prevents me from reporting the same post twice, because sometimes I do a lot of reports and it takes mods some time to get through them, so there is a high chance that I'll come across a previously reported post that's still unhandled. That'd be a waste of time for mods.

Even if I could know that someone else reported it, that wouldn't be very useful without knowing why they reported it, and that may raise privacy issues. At any rate that's not possible.

I've just thrown together a very basic Tampermonkey script which will refresh your report history automatically every x number of seconds if you have it open in a tab. The tab doesn't need to be in focus. I've set the default refresh time to 20 seconds, but it is easily adjusted if you desire. I'm sure you could incorporate something similar in to the extension itself if you wanted, but this seemed easier.

I was thinking about automatic refresh but that solves only part of the real-time tracking issue. I would also have to implement something to update the post status in tabs that are already open, and there is also the delay - I might have 100 posts queued for reporting - so I would need to track the queue as well.

Is it difficult to make this part of the BPIP extension, as yet another optional feature?
To say that it would be a great addition it's an understatement.

I was considering it, but to make it really usable I would have to create a whole UI for configuring those report buttons because users can't modify the code of an extension that's installed permanently.
1620  Other / Meta / Re: [HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart on: February 27, 2022, 05:18:22 AM
Apparently it's been a while:

Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

I've made some changes to this extension so it feels like a good time to bump the thread. The main change is a report tracker that shows if you have reported a post and what the status of the report is:

Loading...

Bad reports are shown in red, unhandled in yellow, good in green - I don't have an example because it's quite rare to have an existing post with a good report - and the one-click buttons will not be shown for such posts (but you can still use the regular "Report to moderator" link).

The way this works is very primitive. You need to open your report history. The extension collects your reports. Then when you open a thread or a user's post history, it will show the status on posts that have been reported. Obviously this has some limitations, for example the status is not real-time. After you report a few posts and want to see the updated status you would need to refresh the report history again, and reload any threads/post histories.

This works reasonably well for my workflow. I typically open the report history first, then open a bunch of tabs with non-overlapping content - e.g. multiple spam megathreads - and all previously reported posts are marked by the extension. New reports will not duplicate because the same post can't be in multiple threads. Then I need to refresh the report history only if I want to start working on a different set of content.

This would not work well if you open a number of overlapping tabs (e.g. threads and user post histories). It might be possible to track reports in real time as you click those reporting buttons but it seemed like too much hassle for me.

Other changes:
  • Added link to My Reports in the main menu: Loading...
  • Added support for Chrome (and possibly Edge).
  • Cleaned up and refactored the code. For example the code that creates report buttons moved to create_all_controls function.
  • Reduced some of the delays (still fits into the 4 second throttling limit), increased default queue size to 100, and added an exception if the queue is full so you will see the red border on the post immediately if you reach the limit.

The code is now on GitHub, which makes it easier for me to maintain. If you're upgrading from the original version and need to preserve your custom changes, you can create a branch off the first commit (which matches the original version), apply your custom code, and cherry-pick or merge from the main branch. Or if you're averse to git for some reason, you can just pick any bits of code you like any way you like, I won't hold that against you.

The usual caveat still applies: this is barely tested code and probably broken in some mysterious ways. Use at your own risk.
