1621  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I BUY RUSSIAN TANKS - 100 USD in bitcoin on: February 27, 2022, 02:29:37 AM
Hey, you're undercutting my offer  Angry

Maybe Ukrainians should offer $1 million for each Russian tank. I think these kids would gladly take that and walk back to Russia on foot.

$100 is too low ball, imagine how much Uber would cost to get home from a war zone.

Kyiv did not fall because of this:

If you know Russian, you will be pissing your pants.  I did.  Hilarious clip.

Yeah there are some signs that refueling and resupply wasn't a big part of the plan because the invasion was supposed to be completed very quickly.

Maybe Ukrainians should offer $1 million for each Russian tank. I think these kids would gladly take that and walk back to Russia on foot.

I have been busy on bitcoiner stuff lately…

Nice but... uhm... doesn't it kinda defeat the whole exercise if you post it publicly?

Surely EU cant expect the product if they have no way of paying for it. Or can Russian then demand payment be delivered say in gold bars

Bitcoin. Or USDT more likely. Let Russians have fun trying to extract dollars from Bitfinex.
1625  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where are the guts of NATO & the US? on: February 26, 2022, 03:46:32 PM
What I am trying to point out is the possibility of all these nonsense not happening had the US thought about their actions more carefully and didn't continue to provoke Russia.

This ignores decades, centuries of history since before the US even existed. Pretty much immediately after the fall of the Soviet Union and the "block", most newly-independent countries started looking for defense from Russia's aggression, which they felt was inevitable sooner or later. 50+ years - and in some cases 200+ years - of repressive occupation tends to do that to nations.

Ironically this probably benefited Russia quite a bit. Instead of subsidizing half of Europe with energy and military resources as it did post WW2, it could now sell oil/gas (including to its former "blockmates"), let NATO take care of their military needs, and cash in on increased trade with the growing new economies.

But that apparently "provoked" a senile KGBist - trying to disguise his shaking hands by holding onto a desk - into declaring war on an independent country.

This makes no sense to anyone, probably not even to ordinary Russians, but that's what Kremlin's propaganda says and you're helpfully spreading the message.

I would suggest to edit out the link in your post (put in code tags for example). And report the PM to moderators if you haven't done so yet.

Edit: the user has been banned so I'm guessing you or someone did report them Smiley

Seems to be deleted and unlikely to be true given Turkey's position in the conflict.

Just like with Kremlin propaganda, posting clearly biased pro-Ukrainian tweets isn't the best source of news if that's what you're aiming for. It only takes a few minutes to cross check with other sources.
1628  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where are the guts of NATO & the US? UKRAINE NEEDS HELP! on: February 26, 2022, 03:01:53 AM
You think Biden is picking this path to help the stock market?  Either way, for me, I can't see the stock market being a good reason to let Ukranians be terrorized while we sit around for a month watching.. I think the long-term effects/consequences of this decision is worse than a [likely temporary] dip in the stock market.

I'm quite sure that sanctions are coordinated with allies and possibly big businesses with the supposed goal of minimizing the impact on the economy. The stock market is just a symptom, not the reason. I don't agree with it, but it's been like that forever, not surprising in the least.

This would be a really interesting time for Finland to attack the USSR

This doesn't sound good. If they have a time machine to go back to 1991 and attack the USSR, they may be tempted to stop by 2010 and grab some bitcoins... and dump them upon returning.

I was going to respond to that, but Covid got me so I'm postponing everything now.

Ugh that nasty thing... I hope you feel better soon.

Fucking hell, you're like an illiterate Kremlin knock-off of Roach, with an avatar to match.
1632  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 25, 2022, 05:08:15 PM
There is a report that Russia is willing to have peace talks with Ukrainian leadership.

Except their condition for talks is "neutrality", by which they mean demilitarization, which is what they're claiming to be doing now. So it doesn't change or stop the invasion. It's just propaganda for Russian people ("look, we're offering to avoid bloodshed if Ukraine gives up").
1633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 25, 2022, 03:25:05 PM
Russians where forced to retreat in Afghanistan because they couldn't win that war, Poetin will be even more bitter if he loses this campaign and losing face when he needs to do that, that's what i mean with 'hilarious'.

Let's be real, Ukraine is not some far-away mountainous shithole, it's right next door to Russia's European "mainland" with easy access over vast flat land. So Russians can and likely will overpower it with sheer numbers and declare victory as soon as they install a puppet in Kyiv and that is likely the propaganda photo-op they're aiming for in the short-to-medium term.

What happens after that is a bit unclear. On batshit-crazy theory I've heard from my Ukrainian colleague is that Putin would have to deport a few million people to Siberia if he wants to break the resistance and hold Ukraine for an extended period of time. But we've seen enough crazy reality over the last couple of days to make it seem less batshit now.

I would suggest to get your head out of Putin's ass, it's unsanitary. He's lying about every bit of this "military operation", including his motives. Provoked little snowflake LOL.

From the latest that i could find, Ukraine reports 160 missile strikes, and 137 casualties. Either Russia is pounding sand, cant hit their targets, or there are a ton of unmanned targets in Ukraine?

Of course they weren't hanging around waiting to be killed. Most missile strikes targeted air force and air defenses, with only a couple hitting civilian targets.

But those who died did so in style: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z94QWGO3ILo
1636  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where are the guts of NATO & the US? on: February 25, 2022, 02:21:38 AM
We aren't even using the full force and capability of the sanctions.. Biden wouldn't answer when asked why he won't sanction Putin today.

I'm guessing it's either some calculation that stronger sanctions would enrage Putin even more and/or options should be left available if the invasion proceeds - but there is no sign that it wouldn't proceed or that Putin is not sufficiently enraged already, so that probably doesn't make sense - or there is some hard lobbying by businesses that have a lot to lose if e.g. SWIFT transfers are closed. Stock market was very bullish today after the announcement, go figure.
1637  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian Invasion of Ukraine[In Progress] on: February 25, 2022, 12:25:24 AM
The information on what's happening is very spotty. Is it possible that Russia "only" did some airstrikes, but they're not going to send in any ground troops outside of the eastern territories? I heard a rumor that Putin gave Zelenskyy an ultimatum to cede eastern Ukraine within 12 hours or else Putin would continue with a full invasion, but I don't know if this comes from a reliable source.

I don't know what news sources you're following but there are plenty of unlikely-to-be-fake reports showing Russian troops moving outside of the disputed regions, like from Crimea into southern Ukraine, and also in the north-eastern part of the country.

Right, I always smash my neighbor's windows when I feel like defending my house.

They're not your neighbour's windows anymore if you take over their house! *taps head

But then you have new neighbors who are looking at you disapprovingly so window smashing must continue until morale improves.
1639  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 24, 2022, 09:51:53 PM
They simply do not care about sanction when they have to defend their country.

Right, I always smash my neighbor's windows when I feel like defending my house. Turn the fucking RT off, the pretense is over.

I'm interested to find out if he seems rational to anyone else, or if it's just me seeing something that isn't there.

Ok, let me rephrase a little bit - he's not rational in the European/Western understanding of a rational leader. He doesn't have to care about elections for example. But yeah he's cold and calculating, just on an entirely different scale of values. Anything the West can offer him in potential negotiations has little or no value to him. Even "don't accept Ukraine into NATO" is probably just a strawman, he's likely more excited about carving his name into history as the conqueror of ancient Russian lands or whatever he called it.
