I have decided, yeah I'm slow, to convert a portion of my remaining btc into Monero.

If you have been looking to sell I would appreciate it if you do it today.

I'm new to this "talking your book".  How did I do guys?

Looks like I am very bad at this, I caused a stampede  Grin Grin Grin
Thats ok. My margin long loves you  Kiss

He is ofcourse lying about his mining and of how profitable mining is.  Mining was very profitable when price was halved. Now is super profitable. But for sure miners will join with time.

Do the math yourself idiot. A single GTX 800 hashes at 600H/s - that is .2 XMR per day

I have XMR loans out on Polo for 0.49% a day for 60 days. Should they be out for the full duration that'd be a 29.4% XMR return.

Doubt we'll see those rates soon again though. Got them in when the price were around 0.005 and the XMR loaning market were illiquid since people rather took margin with their XMR or wanted to be ready to sell their XMR when it was breaking out thinking it will be temporary. Whoever has my XMR now is trapped inside a horrific short position and seemingly unwilling to cut losses.

This is something for miners who do not care about trading to be aware of. Next time XMR breaks out be sure to check out the lending market instead of taking the 0.15%/day rates you have there now.

Grin  I've still got a couple 0.49's out there, but don't expect to run the duration. We touched that range again yesterday, but I was too slow to take advantage. Still, lending has been pretty good this week.  I've bought my own coins a few times  Cheesy

Several car dealerships were convinced to accept BTC in the 2013 rise, so it shouldn't be too hard to dangle the carrot of Monero if it's recognition continues to increase.

The people of Monero should provide the volume in Bitsquare. The last time I have seen it there was nothing happening in the exchange. Hiring market makers to accommodate people from the darkmarket selling and buying XMR might be a good idea. It will also help start the market activity in Bitsquare with XMR as the "star" currency making it become in the center of attraction again. I hope the Monero whales will have a long term game plan like that.

Market making is riskier than usual at the moment. tough to do profitably when the price tends to leave ranges behind at the drop of a hat  Grin

Google searches for the term Monero and XMR went 5x after alphabay announcement.

Reddit subscribers increased from 10-20 per day to 100-150 per day.

Still think it smells like a fake pump? LoL  Undecided

These are the numbers that speak.  Awesome.

Does anyone see bitcoin having a small bubble, maybe to $2,000 and monero going 10x-1000x?

Or will bitcoin languish in a trading range, between $500 to $700, for the foreseeable future?

This would be acceptable.  SoonTM

My gut feeling says we're heading towards 0.012.

We're clearly in the middle of a profound change.

I think your guy feeling is wrong but good luck to you if you are invested and plan on selling some at .012

Perhaps.

But of the several years I've been frequenting this thread I can't think of any occasions where I have been wrong as yet.

You mean you've not been wrong even once in the last few years on your price predictions of xmr. Not even once?

Not that I've ever seen.  It's something I've previously taken note of.

What I wonder is what will be average daily volume during next month? Any guesses? Inm last 30 days before yesterday daily average was 550 BTC.  Now yesterday demolished all past and new relations will need to emerge.

Poloniex xmrbtc  24hr:  44k BTC  6 million XMR.   Shocked

Polo has been screwed up for many hours.  XMR deposits disabled.  I made a deposit before polo disabled them, polo shows it stuck at 7 confirmations.  It must have dozens by now.
When I went on the trollbox to ask for help, one of the mods threatened to ban me.
And yes, of course I opened a ticket.

polo notice board says down for several hours while wallet re-syncs.

Nearly all the moneros are in shorts. The amount of remaining fuel is astounding

Enough shorts taken to bite at my 1% offering, but lots still available right now.

its really serious that XMR will reach 0.005 because its now 0.0049. geez its a good pump for XMR and i hope its up until reach 0.01 like ETH and Dash yesterday. its time to watch out the market for XMR  Grin

XMR volume just went to #1 on poloniex for the first time I've seen in a while.

2197  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 22, 2016, 06:53:44 AM
The real price of Monero is minimum 10-15$ - at least as much as Daesh(it).

Don't forget that in crypto discounting factors are generally inflated by a lot of idiosyncratic  event risks.  That seems like a pretty good equilibrium estimate for a year from now, if it sees actual use - and I do expect that it will - but under crypto-scale discounting, the NPV is probably closer to 3-4$.

I would be unsurprised by an overshoot, say 5-6$, in the next week or two, but followed by a pullback, maybe as low as 2$.  Then a less dramatic but rapid rise to a 3-4 trading range, followed by a slow glide up into the 10-15 range on decreasing volatility - unless more markets add XMR, in which case additional, but smaller, spikes will keep volatility high, even while they push prices up faster than in the baseline expectation...towards a 20-25 range in 2 years.

I've been holding XMR in size since April of 2013 in anticipation of this event, and intend to continue holding until Monero has displaced bitcoin in all of the use-cases for which it is technically superior.  That would include most of the current uses of bitcoin. (And a price in the hundreds of 2016 USD, around 2020-2024, assuming no monetary systemic reset.)

I will slowly sell 5% of my holdings (a market making stake) on any near term spike close to $5, and try to get them back cheaper on the correction.  If that fails, I may or may not chase them uphill, depending on my ability to analyze the events of that time.  Although... I am beginning to question the value of continued market making because of the implied risk of underperforming the market.

This is my current speculation, and subject to prompt change (nonlinear) upon receipt of new information.

Does that make you the very first hodler then?   Wink

With so many new folks about to pour into monero... getting the GUI out very SOON would be a BOON.

CURRENT MONERO PRICE 0.00493 BTC

I hope I can get it done would be nice to mine this coin I have never mined a coin before. Glad I bought when I did it looks like people are getting into xmr could be the next big thing I have been reading about it sounds better then dash and I like that there are only 12 million coins not like 100 million. Dose anyone know how much this coin was when it first came out? Anyway thanks for the help!

http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/9/how-many-monero-will-be-mined-in-total

Quote
The initial number of moneroj in existence will be approximately 18.4 million. However, once that number is reached, a perpetual tail emission of 0.3 xmr per minute will go into effect.

...how much this coin was when it first came out?

https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_xmr

It looks like it started off really high, or just pumped initially to 0.01 btc and then went back down sharply at first and fluctuated over time.

There was a very brief (as in one or two days) pump to 0.01 when the coin was added to Mintpal. Other than that the current price is close to the high end of the trading range since the beginning.

Is mining XMR still profitable with a regular computer? - nvidia gtx1080 GPU

Depending on your electricity costs it may be. Historically whenever there has been a rapid rise in price, as has happened recently, mining has been reasonably profitable. It is also possible to mine on CPUs.

This prompted me to look to see how many nodes were up.  189, which is lower than the recent average.  Go to query hash rate, and realize that my node is one of the recent dropouts.  So 190 now  Cheesy  Hash rate is in the bottom of the recent range.  I expect rapid rises in both if the price steadies or continues to rise.

do you guys think XMR is able to hodl above 0.004BTC?

Speculation thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.0

Currently about 70K buy orders above .004  -  Check back in one minute. It will change Tongue

Recent development and DNM news indicates a strong possibility for further upward pressure.
