221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top altcoins are in trouble?? on: March 12, 2024, 08:40:52 AM
Bitcoin will usually pump first during bull runs and will be followed by altcoins later on. The trends today are not the same as they were in 2021. There was a lot of hype behind NFTs and DeFi back then. Today the hype is with Bitcoin ETFs and AI. Meme coins are also performing well right now but they are generally bad investments and I expect them to go back down by 90% in the next bear market.

Some coins only performed so well previously because of manipulation. Without the same support to back them it will be hard for them to reach a new all time high.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drake loses $615k bet on Joshua-Ngannou bout on: March 12, 2024, 06:28:09 AM
One day Drake will accidentally stumble into a winning long shot bet and earn his money back. Actually, I don’t think he is really losing this much money. He is paid to endorse the casino and might not be playing with his own money. Unless he has a severe gambling addiction, it’s no big deal to make these kind of bets because what he makes for promoting the casino is enough to cover his losses even if they were out of pocket.
223  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Have I been Scammed?? on: March 12, 2024, 05:08:18 AM
~
Just wished I would have done a lot more research and came here to this forum before investing. Stupid stupid!
Don't blame yourself too much OP. Sometimes, making mistakes is pretty normal when it comes to investing.
I will not ask how much you invested in that scam group, but what I will say is, that making a mistake for the first time is still good, but if you make the same mistake twice then you have a problem already.

It seems like such an obvious scam to anybody with common sense but if you’ve never been victim of an online scam you might not know what signs to look for. Even if there is some skepticism, scammers will manipulate your emotions to make themselves seem trustworthy.
A professional looking website and hired shills to vouch for their legitimacy can be enough to convince some people to put their concerns aside and take risks with their money when they are offered substantial profits.
224  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network FAQ on: March 11, 2024, 05:27:29 AM
Hello people. I have question.

I want to add a QRCODE and invoice in my website, for Lightning network donations.

I am using Aqua wallet.

Does an Invoice ever expire? Can I add the invoice code and QRCODE in my website? Can the user transfer any value to that invoice? For example, a made a 200 USD invoice. And I receive like 5 usd?

I tried an old invoice (a few weeks old) and it looks to be working so far, the wallet recognized it (but i didnt send anything)

Standard lightning invoices can only be used once and they will expire after a set amount of time. If you want to receive donations without having to generate a fresh invoice after every payment you will need to setup an LNURL or Lightning Address.

I was browsing Bitcoin Visuals, and I'm curious if there was a sudden surge in fees in the Lightning Network during that period when Ordinals became very popular last year?

https://bitcoinvisuals.com/lightning

I noticed that network capacity has been flat since January of 2023, number of channels is slowly going down, and number of nodes is also flat. That probably would indicate that a sudden surge in usage would increase the fees in Lightning, no?

Most people don’t need to run a public node if they don’t have enough liquidity for routing payments or if they don’t have enough technical knowledge to manage their own channels. My guess is that people are just opting to create private channels on a mobile wallet instead that removes most of the complexity. The capacity in private channels is not visible on these Lightning explorers.

The Ordinals spam didn’t have an effect on LN fees from what I could tell but it did cause other issues like users suddenly having far less spending capacity because of the amount required to be kept in reserve for closing fees.
225  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: March 11, 2024, 02:56:09 AM
Today I was watching some tiktok videos and one video showed up and I think everyone has to watch this video: www.tiktok.com/@fightmma.hype/video/7344412706214038816
To spoil you, this video shows how Tyson Fury was struggling against Ngannou and then comes the video of how Joshua was playing with Ngannou like the cat plays with a mouse. I still can't believe what I watched. At first I watched the fight where Ngannou won against Tyson Fury and then, months later, I watch a fight where Joshua simply destroys Ngannou.
Now Tyson Fury is making excuses and says that he was shit when he was fighting Ngannou and if he and Jushua fights, Joshue will face absolutely different Fury.
Lots of money will be made if they fight and it will be a hella interesting.

In boxing they always say that styles make fights. Fury doesn’t have the power that Joshua has and Joshua doesn’t have the chin or stamina that Fury has. They are drastically different fighters and that’s why we saw drastically different outcomes. It doesn’t necessarily tell us who would win in a fight between them because the circumstances are entirely different. Joshua is used to overwhelming his opponents early on but when they are able to withstand his power is when he gets in trouble.
226  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: March 11, 2024, 02:32:02 AM
So this leaves only one option and that is to divide the satoshis into further decimals.

One satoshi cannot be divided further as 1 sat is the smallest unit of bitcoin.

It doesn’t require changing Bitcoin’s consensus rules. FreeBitco.in can just do this in their own database. If someone uses the “withdraw all” option, they would receive their full balance up to the 8th decimal place and be left with a sub-satoshi amount in their account.

Another option could be to only allow claims every 2 hours but the reward amounts from the faucet would be doubled.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 10, 2024, 10:11:42 AM
I don’t feel like racism has much of an effect on most sports outcomes. There might be racist hooligan fans but the officials themselves are supposed to be impartial and shouldn’t be influenced by these factors.

There are some sports where corruption is prevalent like boxing and sometimes you see fighters like Lomachenko losing a close decision because the judges favored the American fighter. It’s not necessarily racism, but there can be certain prejudice depending on where the fight is taking place.
228  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Canelo Alvarez - Jaime Munguia May 4 Super Middleweight Championship on: March 10, 2024, 09:48:59 AM
Many fans are disappointed by this choice of opponent. Munguia is not a bad fighter but he is certainly below the level of David Benavidez. Canelo had hinted that his next opponent would be an American which many had assumed would be Jermall Charlo. Fortunately, PBC rejected that matchup. Munguia is a real warrior who will make it an entertaining fight if he can manage to hang in there for a decent amount of rounds.
229  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: 🔥🔥[WARNING] BC.GAME BIG SCAM VIDEO - MONEY LAUNDERING!🔥🔥 on: March 10, 2024, 12:26:57 AM
Today I will tell you the whole truth about bc.game, who became popular overnight and at the same time did not beat around the bush and used illegal practices to profit from the millions they have.

You didn’t tell us anything though. Editing a video with a bunch of random out-of-context screenshots using Windows Movie Maker is not a credible accusation. It was hard to make out what you were even trying to show because of all the distracting watermarks plastered across the video.

One of the first screenshots in the video is of a document issuing a formal warning because their casino is accessible from Australia. A formal warning is not the same as a sanction or a criminal charge. Dozens of other crypto casinos could also be accused of offering services in Australia, it does not make them a scam.
230  Economy / Reputation / Re: What conclusions can be drawn about the related accounts. on: March 09, 2024, 09:57:41 AM
There is enough circumstantial evidence in my opinion to conclude that it is the same person behind both accounts. Enrolling in a campaign several minutes apart is suspicious enough for two accounts which are connected by way of blockchain activity.

There is also their writing style. They make low quality generic posts and often begin sentences with a lowercase letter.

Here is another piece of evidence which is more conclusive. Both addresses sent COMBO tokens to the same Binance deposit address on the same date January 12, 2024.
https://platform.arkhamintelligence.com/explorer/address/0x0523300676644D6CD149783a3fB12FCD2f2190BF

There are also two other wallets that deposited COMBO tokens to that address on the same day as well, which means they enrolled 4 accounts in that specific bounty campaign.
The other addresses are 0x0f9503c524EcD090C0353b178Eab79d4d9d5419a and 0xcA8C176E4c29876DaEF952c3a2FeA2685A7Afcf8 which belong to gaston castano and huu78

huu78 also applied to the Undeads.com bounty just minutes before the other two alt accounts.

231  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC created new ATH before Halving: are you surprised? on: March 09, 2024, 09:04:14 AM
It is surprising because after the ETFs were initially approved we didn’t see the kind of pump many were expecting. The price even started to dip for a while and people were saying the ETF was overhyped. Rather than having an immediate effect, it turned out to be a delayed reaction. After the initial selloff, interest in the ETFs has started picking up which has caused the price to explode.
232  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: March 09, 2024, 01:27:09 AM
Ngannou started off doing kind of well but once he got caught, he didn’t know how to react and it all fell apart for him. Once his confidence was gone Ngannou became lost and AJ, who could sense blood in a water, didn’t hesitate to end the fight in savage fashion.

Ngannou has enough raw talent where he could’ve done really well in boxing if he had followed a more traditional path of building his résumé before challenging the top fighters. Instead he fought two likely hall of fame fighters in his first two fights, which is completely insane, but he’s performed about as well as could be expected of him. He has nothing to be ashamed of given the circumstances.

Anthony Joshua accomplished something that Tyson Fury couldn’t do. Now the pressure is on Fury to beat Usyk, who AJ couldn’t beat, which would set up the biggest fight that can currently be made in boxing.
233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Confusion Surrounding Unusual Bitcoin Nonstandard Transactions in Block 831489 on: March 08, 2024, 06:02:15 AM
There was also this transaction which contained 1000 single satoshi outputs in that same block.
https://mempool.space/tx/3c2284977f93a1395f1b0e06fd3a843c3e8ce2277a0d770781f6655d1aadfe13

These transactions were due to Marathon testing out their new service called Slipstream, where users can directly submit non-standard transactions that would otherwise not be mined.
234  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reee: Which campaign has the most spammers? on: March 08, 2024, 05:15:05 AM
Stake recently removed the Sr. Members from their campaign but they are still one of, if not the largest signature campaign. They have not taken any other significant measures to reduce the amount of spam. I checked some of the names I recognized from their campaign on Ninjastic and some of them have 75+ posts in a week. No coincidence these are all people who make redundant and low quality posts to inflate their count.

Their rating system is also entirely useless, as AI spammers like YuginKadoya were always near the highest rated week after week. Going back several months in their rating spreadsheet I see that jakelyson, who I am certain is another alt of YuginKadoya based on their writing style and behavioral patterns, was also enrolled in their campaign at the same time.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul to Fight Mike Tyson in Live Netflix Boxing Event - July 20 on: March 08, 2024, 04:13:55 AM
It’s really shameful to see Mike Tyson being used like this. He might be in great shape but he is still 58 years old and shouldn’t be getting punched in the head at this age. Jake Paul is a mediocre boxer but towards the end of his career, Tyson was losing to journeymen who were of comparable or even lesser quality than Jake.

There will still be people who give Jake Paul a free pass and say he is just a beginner, but in reality his career is a farce and he will never take boxing seriously. He will just look to make money in the easiest way possible.

I had posted this along with the fight advertisement but I guess a moderator deleted it and set it not to notify me so I couldn’t easily repost the graphic and all the information here. I won’t bother posting it again, or the link to Jake’s social media post, but it’s out there if you want to search for it and see the actual fight announcement.

This topic was started earlier. They usually delete or lock threads that are a duplicate although they should have just merged them. I don’t know if it’s possible in this forum.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: A new ATH before halving. Is it possible? on: March 07, 2024, 03:55:23 AM
Depending on what price chart you look at, Bitcoin may or may not have hit a new all time high this week.
https://decrypt.co/220321/bitcoin-all-time-high-whats-actual-record-price

It’s really ambiguous at this point. Even though the price crashed after it reached $69k, it quickly recovered. It still looks possible that it will reach a price high enough that everybody can agree is a new all time high before the halving.
237  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Uncle Gary and the SEC will never stop? Cease and desist against Shapeshift on: March 07, 2024, 03:24:38 AM
So they keep hunting for unregistered exchanges to enforce regulations, literally any instant swap platforms that didn't have mandatory KYC rule will be on his radar. Probably the next is Uniswap, dydx, etc since they're more popular than Bitcoin swaps e.g. exch, agoradesk, peach bitcoin etc.

The filing by the SEC only accuses Shapeshift of selling unregistered securities while it was still centralized. Shapeshift is now decentralized and non-custodial, which has been enough to prevent further enforcement action.

Agoradesk and Peach Bitcoin are peer-to-peer and don’t sell securities. Some regulation agency could always trump up some money laundering charges if they get too big but their current volume is probably too low for them to really care.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A lot of gambling sites are scams ! on: March 07, 2024, 02:16:51 AM
Most of the popular online casinos aren’t all out to scam you. If they were they wouldn’t be so popular. You can look through the gambling section of this forum and read through several casino’s threads to see people’s opinions of them. If a casino has an unresolved credible scam accusation then you will see them with negative trust or bad reviews from the community.

There are also third party review sites but many of them make money through affiliate links so they aren’t always unbiased. As long as you don’t do anything suspicious you will not have any problems in most casinos.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jason Moloney vs Reymart Gaballo WBO Bantamweight Title (May 12) on: March 06, 2024, 05:19:25 AM
Unfortunately for Reymart Gaballo he will not get the opportunity to challenge for this title as Jason Moloney will instead be fighting on Naoya Inoue’s undercard on May 6th. Moloney will be fighting Yoshiki Takei. Takei isn’t a much better opponent but the choice of fighting him over Gaballo most likely comes down to which promoter he is affiliated with. Takei is with Top Rank aligned Ohashi Promotion so they are trying to keep things in-house. Regardless of the politics, it’s still a solid card with Takouma Inoue also defending his title.

240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does any meme coin has the ability to challenge bitcoin dominance ? on: March 06, 2024, 04:02:56 AM
Meme coins should not be seen as a serious investment. They have greater volatility which can lead people to believe they are more profitable than holding Bitcoin, when they see Shiba, Doge, and Pepe pumping hundreds of percentage points. These pumps are short term and quickly disappear, leaving many users with significant losses.

Memecoins were some of the biggest losers after today’s price correction, most of them going down 20% or more. This effect is even more pronounced during bear markets when memecoins have bigger losses and lesser gains.

Using Dogecoin as an example because it is the most known and established memecoin, despite going up 104% against the USD over the past year, it is still down -27% against BTC over the same period.
