2201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why switching from Bitcoin to Ethereum? This interview can explain this on: July 17, 2017, 05:04:13 AM
Octagon Strategy, Hong Kong based commodities and digital assets trading house, took its first steps in the field of Bitcoin in 2016. Recently it commenced trading in the second most popular cryptocurrency: Ethereum which it describes as „a rising star in the digital assets space”. We asked Dave Chapman, managing director of Octagon Strategy, about what spurred him to enter the new market and how he envisions the future of cryptocurrencies.

http://bithub.pl/english/from-bitcoin-ethereum-were-chatting-with-dave-chapman-from-octagon-strategy/

And what do You think? Will Ethereum overtake Bitcoin?
Markets are unpredictable, even if bitcoin has lost a lot of ground in the previous 48 hours Ethereum has crashed way harder than bitcoin and there is not a reason to think this is going to change anytime soon, even with all this instability in the price of bitcoin, bitcoin dominance is almost 50% at the moment when it was way lower some weeks ago, like always traders have been wrong about the direction the market was going to take, it was impossible to maintain those prices any longer and the bubble finally burst.
2202  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell or wait? on: July 17, 2017, 04:59:30 AM
wait and buy now is the right time, do not keep waiting dumped to under $2k to buy because it will not happen, bitcoin will remain at $2k and will increase again and again.

I guess the buying time is already stopped. The price seems to be increasing now and it's up to you if you want to keep your bitcoins before August 1. This is just another wave and the price of bitcoin can possible get lower again a day before August 1. This is just a safe place for all of us while we can see the price at $2,000 higher.
i do not think that the buying time is stopped. i think it is depending on you, if you. if you can ,,manage to buy bitcoin even if the price of bitcoin is decreasing then you have good chance because the price will not stay here for a long time and will start increasing very soon.
Unless we hear a message from the miners stating they deicide to aodpt segwit unconditionally and without the risk of a hard fork then I think the only overall direction the price of bitcoin can go is down, people are nervous and the fact the miners keep thinking on doing a hard fork then there is no reason to think the markets are going to stabilize, to be honest I think this is more a power play by the miners to crash the price of bitcoin and get it for cheap.
2203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin and Ethereum co-exist? on: July 17, 2017, 04:54:00 AM
eah already are doing isn’t? I think they can very much co-exist and not just these too. I completely believe that down the line in next 3-4 years, I will be 10-15 Crypto Currencies that will be fighting for the top spot, so they all will co-exist and there is no reason why they can’t. The market is so big that it’s easy.

The real question should be, can altcoins co exist with bitcoin because bitcoin will be always here. Bitcoin has better support, a bigger community and a very active one. Altcoins including Ethereum are usually pump and dump coins, sure someone can make money with them by buying low and selling high because those have even higher volatility than bitcoin, but that's it, they are not as mainstream as bitcoin so their long life existence is not guaranteed compared to bitcoin.
Alts will keep on existing, while bitcoin is great we cannot expect that every single characteristic to be added to bitcoin, there are some good projects that deserve to exists, Monero is one of them it adds better anonymity than anything bitcoin has at the moment, some assets distributed by decentralized exchanges are good too, Litecoin is a spare in the case bitcoin died, even if Ethereum is criticized in the forum the idea behind it is good.
2204  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin prices rise high on: July 16, 2017, 01:53:02 AM
Price of bitcoin now are ranging from $2300 - $2600 maybe preparing for some big thing on august 1, but for me what ever will happen right after the segwit the price of bitcoin will surely goes high, simply because the demand for btc are really increasing then the price should increase also.
Demand is not the only factor that affects the price the other side of the coins is supply, so even if there is an higher demand for bitcoin, if the supply goes up, even after the increase in demand the price of bitcoin is going to decrease, it is basic economics really, and with the fateful date of August 1 getting closer I think we are going to see the price dipping further due to panic sellers.
2205  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Questions to Panic Sellers on: July 16, 2017, 01:47:07 AM
Don't you think this is a trick?
Maybe they are just trying to buy cheaper. Collecting them slowly.
When they pump them again will you be able to buy them back cheaper than now?
What is going to happen in august? will bearish trend go on?
Are you sure that you ll not have to buy more expensive than now?
Isn't it what they want? They want to buy cheap and sell expensive. That is why some people must buy expensive and sell cheap.
By definition the person you are describing is not a panic seller, the person you are describing is a trader, someone that is making a calculated move now in order to try to profit from said move in the future, in my opinion is a gamble, it may work or not, but the panic seller is someone that is not thinking about that, they are just afraid of losing money and have decide to sell regardless of the consequences.
2206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used by ordinary citizens? on: July 16, 2017, 01:44:06 AM
i find that ordinary people who dont care or lack the tech savvy will never use bitcoin.. i have told my friends to buy back in 2011 they never listened or didnt bother to learn it.. their loss
Well, soon ordinary people will have to use bitcoin more and more because bitcoin will be accepted and adopted by the government. Technology and computer science will rule our world in the next 100 years. And then, AI will serve the human being
I agree with your opinion. But it is hard to convince them to trust Bitcoin. Nowadays, too many people still think Bitcoin is scam. Trying to persuade them is the hardest part. Bitcoin itself can be used by all people who can get access to the internet. It does not require high education, degree.

Bitcoin got attention at first because if I remember correctly its whitepaper was published 3 weeks after the greatest economic crisis since the great depression, if satoshi did not have such a great timing maybe no one would have gave any attention to bitcoin, what we need is another economic crisis that shakes the confidence of people in the world economy and begin to look for answers elsewhere.

so i think bitcoin is lucky because bitcoin is launch after the crisis happen and made depression in every where and by that time, slowly bitcoin is known by many people and they still use until now and they makes big profit from bitcoin. i think what we need is bitcoin can reach more new people in all of country and can use bitcoin for any of transaction or just save in their wallet.
Personally I do not think it was about luck, I think that satoshi was expecting the right moment to reveal bitcoin to the world, there are many inventions that existed way before what you may think but since the invention was so ahead of its times it was not successful as an example the firts steam engine is thought to have been created in the first century of this era, can you imagine what would have happened if we had the industrial revolution at the time?
2207  Economy / Economics / Re: New rich people thanks to BTC on: July 16, 2017, 01:38:37 AM
Many have become millionaire due to Btc . Thier right time investment have made them today what they are . Also it is adding the income to many normal people as well in thier daily routine through campaign , trading and Freelancing.

Now it's not so easy to find a freelance job that would be paid by bitcoins. Therefore, you can not make big money on this. The millionaires were those who bought this coin several years ago and, despite everything, did not sell it until now
That is the way things works not only in bitcoin but in anything, there were many people that were offered to invest in uber at the beginning of the life of the company and many so called experts thought it was not going to work and they declined, on the other hand others viewed the potential of the company and now they enjoy the fruits of being visionaries, the same happened to bitcoin.
2208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Software Engineer Buys 20,000 BTC in 2010, Quits Job to Travel Around Globe on: July 16, 2017, 01:34:00 AM
There is no way to verify this story.

Unless, of course, the so-called millionaire signs a message from a 1000 BTC address saying that he is the one sighted in the article.

But who in his right mind will do something like that, to begin with why would you have a 1000BTC in a single address, if for some reason someone other than you gets access to the private key you will lose your money and unless you are very rich losing 1000BTC will be bad, it is better to have many addressees with 50 BTC each, also why would anyone sign a message to prove they own so many coins, it is like waving your credit report on the street for anyone to see.
2209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will people start moving their savings to Bitcoin in case of a financial crash? on: July 16, 2017, 01:28:43 AM
Most times this news are merely expression on opinion but because the individual is an authority in a particular field, the news agency just pick it up without even understanding the basis of his opinion and why he made such statement. Even if it happens, the only people who will likely move their funds are those who are already in bitcoin because someone new is not expected to just trust bitcoin all of a sudden.
That is not the way people think in times of crisis like these, when a huge crisis happens, people will try to find a way to secure their wealth, when the hyperinflation of the Wiemar Republic happen, people did everything to try to preserve their wealth, things were so bad that people paid in the restaurant before eating the food, because if they waited until they finished eating the price would have gone up significantly, so it will not be rare if people decided to adopt bitcoin if an hyperinflation like that happened once again.
2210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Investing in ICO, still promising? on: July 15, 2017, 01:31:45 AM
I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.
Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Aigist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?
If the project is good then you can still invest, no problem, the only issue is that you may not get as many tokens as you thought as altcoins have being doing badly in the market in the past few days, if you are not sure about what to do the best thing is to not do a thing and wait for the time when things get a little bit more calm and we leave behind all of this instability caused by bitcoin activation of segwit.
2211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are there any tips? on: July 15, 2017, 01:27:35 AM
I am looking ex-changer who can accept PayPal directly, do you have suggestion for me? Thanks!

Look on the currency exchange section of this forum. However, since your rank is really low and you have no trust history, you'll probably end up paying a premium. No one wants to risk having paypal charge back without any gain. It's a huge problem.. Paypal is just too easy to be reversed.
I did not even know about this possibility (exchange) on the forum. How can I increase the level of trust? (I was also interested in the exchange of PayPal). Can I prove my eBay account?
Sorry but that is not the way things work around here, you cannot increase your level of trust easily, many members are very reluctant to give trust to a member as new as you and also trust it is not something you can increase, people will begin to trust in you if you become an important member of the community, you can still make some trades for your paypal here in the forum but you are not going to get many takers and you risk getting labeled as a scammer, read this first.

2212  Economy / Economics / Re: Looking for ideas to invest on: July 15, 2017, 01:21:30 AM
I am looking for something new to invest early in, something that is like facebook but it is in its very early stage of development, something that got potential from your point of view, I am only looking for ideas, I will decide myself after reviewing the ideas here. Also I see so many websites which offers binary option , trading that offers you to buy google, facebook and apple stocks. Unfortunately there you do not own anything, they aren't yours for real. I am looking for a website where I can buy real apple stocks or real facebook stocks and me owning them with certificate of owner ship.
Don’t get me wrong but everyone is looking for that, if someone knew of something like that, that was almost a guarantee of success then the most logical thing will be to not share that information and get as many shares of that as possible and enjoy your profits and the rest of your life with the gigantic amount of money you will earn from such a thing, so if you want to obtain profits like that you will need to find the opportunities yourself.
2213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can bitcoin wallet be hacked by hackers? on: July 15, 2017, 01:18:24 AM
can they hack into our wallet. There are many professional hackers out there. What are the chances? Also what is the safest way to safeguard ourself?
There is not such a thing as something that is not hackable, no one can derive your private key or anything like that but there are so many ways of gaining access to your funds, from copy paste virus, to key loggers, social engineering forcing you to reveal your password and your private keys, phishing links, to malware inserted in the software of the wallets, all of that is something we need to take into account when we try to secure our coins.
2214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people are asking you about Bitcoin now? on: July 15, 2017, 01:12:12 AM
Honestly at this moment nobody ask me about bitcoin and I don't know why. Grin like they know I'm into bitcoin but they don't bother to ask me. Maybe they're not interested, hope I can help someone by chance by bitcoin.
The truth is that this is not as rare as you may think, I have tried to explain to my family and friends the advantages of using bitcoin, I have shown to them the amazing growth and yet they are not interested, to be honest, I do not know what to think, the only conclusion that I came up is that they may hate earning money in short time frames, I knew it is a ridiculous explanation but that is the best that I could came up.
2215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crime funded by bitcoin on: July 15, 2017, 01:08:35 AM
I think that criminals can be tracked, because they will make too expensive purchases and they will not even help the anonymity of bitcoins. Criminals also use other types of currencies, but bitcoin may seem to them to be better in terms of security.
All the transactions ever made in bitcoin can be seen, everything is right there for you to see, it is in the blockchain, there are business making money with that right now, they are trying to link the transactions that you make and if you make a mistake they could even put a face and a name to all of those transactions, so to all those criminals doing their thing in bitcoin may have their days numbered.
2216  Economy / Economics / Re: Holdings of gold vs Holdings of btc on: July 14, 2017, 02:58:39 AM
Does anyone have any idea how many people are using gold as a store of value vs btc?  And how long do you think until we have the same user Base as holders of gold?
Both of them had their own edges, they're not the same especially in terms of volatility. The volatile of bitcoin compare to into Gold are much more aggressive, therefore holding bitcoin is much more good and better to choose.
Gold is safer and guaranteed profitable but for aggressive investors bitcoin will fit for them, I invest in bitcoin
the moment I understand it's purpose and it's potential in the future and now I can say I will still hold this even if I have a chance to invest with gold.
Gold is safer that is why people use it as a store of value but make no mistake no investment guarantees  profits, not even gold, in fact gold more than an investment has been used by people as a way to combat inflation in their countries that is why when an economic crisis occurs the first thing that happens is that people choose to buy items that preserve their value, like real estate, gold and in some cases precious stones.
2217  Other / Off-topic / Re: Young people should go all in on bitcoin on: July 14, 2017, 02:54:34 AM
Yes the young people should go all in on bitcoins and another digital coins, because digital coins are new revolution in internet and they are new technology of digital currencies and blockchain, the young people must understand about that, if they don't follow and adopt this new technology, they will be out of date.
The sooner they know about bitcoin, the higher chance they will become rich in the future. However, bitcoin needs to be learned by themselves because there are only a few schools deciding to teach them about bitcoin and the blockchain technology. In the next 10 years, if bitcoin keep developing strongly, I believe that bitcoin and the blockchain technology will be an interesting subject in universities
I’m unaware of any school that teaches their students about bitcoin, most people in the forum will tell you that they learned about the existence of bitcoin on their own or that a closed one was the one to introduce them to the technology, besides many young people disregard much of the knowledge that they get at school so I do not know if that is the best medium to get to young people and make them interested in bitcoin.
2218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's going on? Bitcoin for the rich only? on: July 14, 2017, 02:51:24 AM
I think it's right.Bitcoin is now making just for the rich. The fee of transactions are getting higher. It's analysis that it is now going to make just for the rich. Cry
Yes indeed. Sometimes the transactions fee is more bigger than the amount that we  want to withdraw . Sometimes we are being feeling sad that our withdrawal amount has been lessen because of the bigger fees. We cannot get the whole amount because of that.
If that is the case why not wait, the status of the mempool is not immutable, it changes depending on the number of transactions if it is low then you can get confirmations for cheap, like it is the case at the moment, people complain about the fees but I do not see many people trying to obtain the best out of their fees, if you can wait, then you could wait until segwit gets activated and enjoy the new bitcoin with faster confirmations and with lower fees.
2219  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin benefit of saving for a long time? on: July 14, 2017, 02:48:05 AM
I would not say that it is always advantageous to store bitcoin for a long time. For security coins can be sold when they reach a certain mark and buy when the price falls too low.
Like always the problem is to know where that mark is, it may seem very easy when you look at charts of the past, but when you need to take action in the current markets things do not seem as clear, also by holding for the long term you do not have to worry about all of that so the effort of trading is reduced to zero and the only thing you need to do is to make sure that no one can steal your coins.
2220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is right now a good time to buy Bitcoin / Ethereum? on: July 14, 2017, 02:44:48 AM
I have more confidence in bitcoin, but the etherium is also worth trying. Many promise a good future for the etherium and maybe it will become even stronger than bitcoin.
Ethereum will recovery soon and growth the price to $500 in end 2017, this is my guess if the crypto market still keep trend growth after SegWit2x success and ended Summer. Maybe in September we can see the price recovery to $ 300 first
Before thinking of a price of 500 for each ETH we need to wait and see if there is a recovery since the amount of market cap lost in this week by Ethereum and other alts have been nothing but outstanding, and we have no idea if this is the floor on how low alts can go or if there is still room for the decrease in price to go even further than it has gone until now.
