What is LEOcoin?

Technical information about LEOcoin
LEOcoin (LEO) is a peer-to-peer digital currency and open source software project. LEOcoin creation and transfer is based on an open source protocol and is not managed by any central authority.

LEOcoin is an altered version of Litecoin and for two years used scrypt-Jane as a proof-of-work (POW) and proof-of-stake (POS) algorithm with a modified nFactor. In July 2016 LEOcoin switched to a sole proof-of-stake procedure. Under PoS users are asked to prove ownership of a certain stack of LEOcoins. This makes the LEOcoin network more secure and over time creates new LEOcoin without consuming large amounts of energy.

The LEOcoin source code on GitHub LEOcoin mentions following properties:

•   LEOcoin algorithm: scrypt-Jane
•   Maximum number of LEOcoins: 1 Billion LEO
•   Premined LEO Company Stock: 50 Million LEO (5%)
•   Block Time: variable
•   Minimum Stack age: 24 hours
•   Maximum Stack age: 5 years
•   Difficulty: Retarget every block
•   No block Halving Rate
•   Block Award: stake interest
•   First block: 15th of June 2014 (15:23:02)
•   Switch to PoS: block 1071500 on 1st of  July 2016 (13:43:03)

PoS operates based on variation difficulty - coins are generated based on age and number of coins in respective wallet so previous PoW (Proof-of-Work) block time of 1 minute and block size of 20 LEOcoins is no longer applicable.

User information regarding LEOcoin

•   open for all to stake
•   can be exchanged for cc & fiat currency (BTC, USD, GBP, EUR)
•   pseudonymous
•   secure
•   user friendly
•   part of a growing community of entrepreneurs

PoS - Approximate annual percentage reward

•   Wallets with a balance under 1,000 LEOcoin get minimal stake (if any)
•   Wallets with a balance from 1,000-4,999 LEOcoin get 10% annual stake interest
•   Wallets with a balance from 5,000-49,999 LEOcoin get 15% annual stake interest
•   Wallets with a balance over 50,000 LEOcoin get 20% annual stake interest

I was intrigued that there has been a thread about this story in the Press section for over a day and the M-community didn't touch it. Neither the "normals" nor the trolls - just... crickets:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1614010.0

Dash users not affected, I assume. Could it happen here? Anything we should learn from their misfortune?

bitcoin was and is being mined by malwares too..

basically it could happen to any POW crypto.

dash was mined with malware in the first 48 hours... the malware was called " THE INSTAMINE BUG " HAHAHA

the malware creator's name is Evan Duffield  Wink

I instamined some 18,000 Xcoin so I can't say anything negative. However Evan should at least come clean that it was planned. It was almost clever enough but we all know how that simple variable was not a mistake because if it was a bug they'd have seen it when testing X11. Use common sense. Evan, come clean.

I'm not a developer/coder/programmer technically reputable to look in the code..but this john-connor is one (Vcash dev)

malware confirmed  Grin

2226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM Darkcoin instamine 2 millions DRKs (50% of darkcoin in circulation on: September 12, 2016, 03:27:01 AM
I am about to buy dash few years ago that time known as darkcoin when price very cheap about 6000 satoshi but i didn't buy it because of this thread! Wtf with instamine!?
And don't doubt seeing my rank because I am in crypro since early 2014.
I am really regrets not buy darkcoin.

well an average/typical person would not invest in darkcoin unless he/she is very lucky or blindly invested money.. i tried to mine darkcoin in march 2014, I haven't research the instamine very well at that time, but the thing that put me off immediately was the 84 million was reduced to 21 million, it was like telling the miners " no more coins for you, settle for scraps" ... 84 million was their social contract and they breached it.

vcash developer john-conner is an example of a technically inclined person to mine with the instamine because he can run and compile linux wallet, because Evan obviously didn't want windows users to join the instamine

check these people who obviously joined the instamined: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1282836.msg13200467#msg13200467

that's a developer saying that it is impossible to "not know" or it was an "accident"

i agree, evan should at least be honest maybe could have changed things for dash for better..

i'm not technically inclined to look at the code and say that the bug was not an accident but i can say for sure that Evan deliberately hide his plans from the people for 1 month after he instamined, make 20k and 10k buy offers at btctalk, changed the coin supply..and maybe bought at the exchanges at very low prices..

Great, now that everything is stable, I'll be posting later about the vision of this project and milestones! Time to move on to actually implementing what I set out to do.

Masters

To defeat propagation problems, master nodes are elected each new block. They are responsible for being the authority of what goes into the joined transaction each session. This is done in a tamperproof way, but I think it’s not important to the discussion.

Evan could have made an honest launch but obviously he thought he might have get less amount of coins being honest so he choose his/their crooked ways ... pity.

dash shills may have said that "the community" voted to keep the instamine rather making an airdrop

what community? this community?  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1282836.msg13200467#msg13200467 LOL!

2233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The battle over online privacy (Dash / Monero / Zcash) on: September 08, 2016, 03:19:44 PM
Dash has become really popular as compared to those two.but it also comes with anonymity privacy.its better to invest in dash rather than monero as it market is rising and price has greatly rised up.

I disagree. Dash's master nodes are not a good way to make your coins anonymous because "a government, group of hackers, other entity, or even an individual bought many masternodes (there would be no way to know if this occured), and if the transaction passed through a route where all of the masternodes were owned by that entity, then the transaction could be traced by that entity."

If you want to read more about the comparisons of anonymous coins read it here https://moneroforcash.com/monero-vs-dash-vs-zcash-vs-bitcoinmixers.php

That should be enough information for you to know the difference and the superiority of Monero.

I do not own XMR neither DASH. I heard that this kind of attack is nearly impossible, or the probability of tracing is very low.

there is a difference between a completely private and partly private blockchain..

Ariel, I'm going to be polite.

You do not consider that the Monero block chain is unverifiable because it is completely opaque. If you want to "trust the math" and believe no loop hole will ever exist allowing coins to be inserted, changing the supply of coins, or that "the math" will never have an unforeseen hole where transactions will be detangled, something that can't happen with private send, that is fine.

However, an open blockchain, with inputs and outputs that can be seen with the naked eye, and verified is one of the cornerstones of Bitcoin's brilliance.  And Dash kept that while also providing privacy.

Because of that, I personally think Dash's privacy feature is far superior to Monero's.  Dash is solid.  You know where everything stands at any time.

And yet, once again, Dash's superior privacy, fungibility and verifiable blockchain is only one of the many features Dash provides in creating a world class currency that will be used by a majority of the human population in only half a generation's time.  But good luck with Monero, but if you want to use your funds for illegal purposes, please use a minimum 8 rounds of mixing in Dash, and leave the Monero at home.  I really don't trust it, and fear for your safety.

You think you know it all, you think you can trust "the math" but these cryptographic proofs have weaknesses that can be exploited.  Some have been discovered, as in secp256r1, and there could be other weaknesses that have yet to be revealed.

i can compare dash blockchain now to the internet, at first you thought that the internet is private but then it is not...then tor was created, it made the internet "PARTLY PRIVATE" ... didn't we heard of government being able to successfully trace in tor? yes it did happen and it is in the news.

What does the "R" stand for in:
Mining Status: x miners at xxx kh/s (R: xxxxG)
?

R: xxxxG is counter of how many times tried to generate a PoW (and "G" equals to Giga, so multiply by 1000000) from started mining with the Application.

i was going to ask the same question lol but another question for you if you dont mind me being such a noob lol after i mine 5 blocks i seem to get disconnected from the servers had 5 connections and it drops to 1 and runs as a node but stops my mining, thats now 3 times thats happened. Is that normal for this to happen? i  dont mind having to restart the wallet after mining 5 blocks but it can be a pain if i forget lol?

im having connection issues since the very beginning ... i could not even connect to network  Embarrassed

I've read here in the forum where they said that SDC and NAV has better technology than those mentioned in the OP.  If you can check it on bittrex these two coins are also being traded well.

because dash shills like qwizzie would like to think dash is still at about the same level as monero but in reality they now at the same level with SDC and NAV..

...

i have a different vision, i prefer fighting/competition..it makes each other stronger and innovative..

i even like attacks, i wanted monero attacked, DASH attacked, Bitcoin attacked... attack everywhere.. we don't want to release a crypto currency to the whole world that will fail and bring billions of $ down with it..

think of crypto like a bitcoin dojo with satoshi nakamoto as sensei

monero and dash are sparring partners, include zcash too..after they toughen up they will leave the bitcoin dojo and find their path in the world.

regarding shills, they are my favorites..i neutralize their lies and deception...i also have fun along the way  Grin

regarding speculators, they are part of the ecosystem...people gamble, trade, invest, make a few bucks etc.. that's life.

I like how you think my friend. This is a good and healthy way to think of the whole cryptosphere. Some coins and platforms will directly compete with each other and there is not way we can avoid that. What we can avoid doing is the bashing and the trolling and spreading of the FUD. Why not instead make constructive criticism?

You can also add vcash chain blender technique in the battle of anonymous transactions. They too might have something very useful for the cryptosphere.

Quote
Why not instead make constructive criticism?

Quote
Constructive criticism is the process of offering valid and well-reasoned opinions about the work of others, usually involving both positive and negative comments, in a friendly manner rather than an oppositional one. The purpose of 'constructive criticism is to improve the outcome. In collaborative work, this kind of criticism is a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards.
