I learned two useful things today. One of them has to do with Uno.

First, I have been trying for 2 days to transfer some coins out of MintPal. Clicking on the link in the confirm email always yielded "500 Server error" or a blank page.
I was finally able to confirm the transfer by 1) copying the link from the email, 2) going to my browser, which was logged into MintPal, and 3) pasting in the link and refreshing the page. For whatever reason, that works.

Second, did you know that pressing Windows-M on your Windows keyboard will close all of your open windows? Where has that tip been hiding the past 15 years.

Hey Guys! Finally got the UNO bars through this week, pricing will be available soon, check out this video of the first run (sorry about the quality, high res photos will follow):

http://youtu.be/akiRvYU7I-c

I'll be ordering more, but right now there are only 5 pure silver strikes and around 20 plated ones.
These will be highly collectible by UNO fans! Save one for me!

Don't let KJU get them all!

When I found this picture, I thought the bars were extra large. Then I realized, KJU is just extra small.
2303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 09, 2014, 01:23:21 PM
No coin or stock or any investment ever sustains a 40 degree incline forever.  The question is, where do we agree that the new floor is?  We started this around .004.  Look where we're at now.

Just wait out the dumpers. You guys deserve their cheap Uno. Once in your stronger hands, I don't see a reason it won't revert back to the trendline that began in July.

I don't think it will fall much farther, but maybe a bit.  There probably were some pumpers who piled in to ride the momentum. When they sense the short-term peak they move on. Uno fans have always waited those people out. That's our strength and their weakness. I am not worried in the least.

Lots of fundamentals working in Un's favor right now. Block halving imminent.  2015 will be the year of extremely low production.  No worries here.
2304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Top wallet shoutout on: October 08, 2014, 09:16:12 PM
A shoutout to the owners of the top wallets,  uLAzKY  and uXZYPn:

You guys are so close to the #1 spot (I don't include Cryptsy as the legit #1 wallet, since it's all held in trust  Smiley )

Just pickup another 500 Uno and you can displace udYSEGN, the long time top wallet.  Do yourself the honor! You've come this far... Just 500 more Uno!  Smiley

2305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 08, 2014, 06:49:15 PM
chillin.

watchin what i'm starting to think is a shakeout

You may be right. Someone wants it around .008. Decent support there.
It's worth at least that, imo. Un might come back to kiss the trend line, but I foresee the upward trend that began in July continuing its climb.

Un is very close to being mined out now. 2015 will not see ANYTHING like the production and Coinex dumping of Uno that we saw in 2014; not even close.  I'm expecting the block halving on Friday. This rally has galvanized new interest in Uno.   I remain a bull and hodling, but picking up a few kg here would be great. I haven't yet fully invested the cheap Btc I bought last week.

I remember a rally last... May?  Un was in the 006's. I put up a decent sized wall at .005, and Erundook from Coinex unloaded on me in one big dump. When Un fell further to .003's I was feeling a little low, but I just hodled on. Hodling that cheap Un through the downturn was an unusually smart move on my part, but its easy to do if you understand how Un works. Smiley  This is indeed the coin you hold (safely).  You never know with Uno. There may not be a chance to get into this coin much cheaper than this, because the fundamentals have changed so much in 2014, and new production will be extremely low in 2015.

After Friday's halving, less than 16 new Uno will be produced each day, an amount that many of us here could absorb individually at the current price.

Please join the UNO traders at this new thread.
2307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Favorite launch thread posts. on: October 08, 2014, 12:39:18 AM
Since you guys are so bored with UNO rising 100% over the past 30 days (and 250% over the past 90 days), I thought I would try to amuse you with some of my favorite UNO launch thread posts while you're waiting for the next boring 100% upleg (*yawn*).  There's a lot of history in that launch thread, and I just read through all 50 pages of it.

On launch day, a miner suggests that Unobtanium is a stupid name and that it's just a short term pump & dump.  Probably never thought it would be here a year later.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313126.msg3364523#msg3364523

Blazr2 responds to a question about why he thinks UNO has a chance to succeed.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313126.msg3364663#msg3364663

There is a long tradition in UNO of doing P2P trades, which continues to this day with Un-Ex.  Here, Blazr2 does the first one with juhakall
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313126.msg3371016#msg3371016

And here's a link to the original [WTB: Unobtanium] trader thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=314454.0

Think trading Uno p2p is too risky? Well, then you'll for sure want to try Unobtanium's first exchange, coinex.pw, which added Un on Oct 24, 2013.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=313126.msg3405764#msg3405764

I have not even begun to read through all the discussions in this fine thread (the one you're reading now). I don't know if I have the patience to re-read 158 pages of your guys' posts. Maybe you can help me, and let me know what some of your favorite posts are. We'll tweet these out on the anniversary date.  Get the post link, and tell why you think it's historically significant to Uno.

2308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 07, 2014, 09:40:37 PM
Hey guys check out the new UNO/XRP market on cryptsy??

Really? I hear lots of serious traders politely asking Cryptsy for USD market.  But I don't recall anyone begging for an XRP/UNO pair.
But if it means a little more demand for Un, then what the hey.

By my calculations, the price should be about 570 xrp per Un.  Round it up to an even 600.

2309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So many altcoins! on: October 07, 2014, 03:56:00 PM
Unobtanium, UNO.
Just check the steady rise that started in July and is now in it's 4th month.
Block reward halves this week. There is virtually no downward pressure from miner dumping.
Fair launch, no POS, virtually no inflation, community & devs intact ,and it's turning 1 year old in a few days. Vetted coins like UNO are few. Worth a close look.
2310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / MintPal on: October 06, 2014, 11:05:54 PM
Okay guys, many of you know I've been a big supporter of Mintpal, even back in the day before they had risen to #1 exchange status (and then lost it again). Haven't been trading there a lot lately (after the hack), but in regards to UI and UX is was still my favourite exchange. Now we all know the long story of this whole V2 launch and it looks like the site finally went live. And I got to say the wait was worth it. Not.

Yep, they managed to kill all the good stuff about the site. The new UI is passable at best, they just purchased a template for 20 bucks and pretty much left it at that (no joke, they really did that). Half the features of V1 seem to be missing. This was a joke before due to the delays, but the actual site is the real disappointment. Maybe they now have the best and most secure backend in the crypto world, but unless they really step up their frontend work fast nobody is going to care.

Sigh...
I just saw it, too. Not very impressive, but clean and minimal.  They said in a tweet that they would come back and clean it up. I don't think they're finished yet.
You sir are quite the gentleman. Smiley

I hope they can fix this, but looking at the new site they simply should not have launched (most previous features gone, unusable main menu, horrible balance sheet, broken 2FA, and BTC/BTC LTC/LTC pairings, I mean really? - and this is just the tip of the iceberg). V1 mostly suffered from a lack of trust in security (wether percieved or real doesn't even matter). They could have rewritten the trade engine and devised a new storage strategy and most people would have been happy. Now they've got even more damage to repair.

But enough of that, sorry for taking the discussion away from Unobtanium. These are certainly interesting times.

I have no clue wether this is a pump or not. The new volume is not all coming from within this community though. Could just be new investors who don't care to make themselves known here. Supply is so low that anybody interested in a good position in UNO would inevitably raise the price. If it is a pump then I'm missing a key component: hype. No noise and hype means no one to sell to. So if it is a pump its probably still in its early stages. I like to think of this as a long overdue correction. UNO was oversold and undervalued.
I setup a few uno orders on MP, just to help kick things off. But...
you may want to give MP a pass for a day or two.
I placed a small Uno sell order as a test to get some data into their api, but it did not execute at the best possible price, so be careful.

But free trading for the rest of the year sounds good, after they get these things worked out.

2311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 06, 2014, 09:48:38 PM
looks like someone's pumping unobtanium!  all aboard for a few hours? or are we at the top? what do people think...

Hi, and welcome. I'm glad you found Uno.

Uno began a steady rise last July. People are just starting to notice and are grabbing some while they can.  A reward halving this week will make Uno even rarer.  There are very few Uno coins, and it's mostly mined out. Plus, UNO is turning one year old this month!  It has a lot of good things going for it. Extremely low inflation, longevity, devs, rarity, active community, services support, and it's essentially decoupled from bitcoin in recent months, so the downturn hasn't impacted Uno like other coins. It was launched fairly, no instamine, no premine, no Pos, no hidden blocks, no bad sneaky stuff that has killed off interest in other coins. Uno is the coin you hodl.

If someone wants to buy Uno and dump it back to the trend line, that will be fine with most of us here, but I don't see the general direction of the trend changing, especially with btc falling against the dollar.

Hi vector.iso, here is a post of mine from a few pages back, this applies to what you are trying to do. Please note that if you don't already have an unobtanium.conf file, you will need to create one and make sure it contains:

Code:
server=1

Then restart the client. Another note, if your passphrase includes a space or special character, you may need to surround it in quotes, like "my passphrase".

Good luck!

Regards,

On a more serious note, I was able to download and use the app to create a vanity wallet. Great app! Big thanks to the developer!!

Question is this, after backing up my wallet, is there anyway to unencrypt the wallet in order to import the private key and then reencrypt?

If so, what is the procedure / console command line prompts?

Thanks!

1) Unlock your wallet for 10 minutes (600 seconds):

Code:
walletpassphrase <your passphrase> 600

2) Import your private key:

Code:
importprivkey <your private key>

3) Lock your wallet:

Code:
walletlock

Glad you like the vanity gen, feel free to donate: ucrYPTxQPKkb2WTU57PjurHbCHf3rACMJh

Ah ha! Now walletpassphrase works!

If you add Server=1, it will also be necessary to add rpcuser and rpcpassword to the unobtanium.conf, at least according to the message the wallet gave me. I added this to my laptop's Unobtanium.conf file:

server=1
rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=anything

I restarted Unobtanium wallet and now walletpassphrase ran as expected.  Great tip, Cryptapus.

Shocked

32 BTC's worth traded on cryptsy?!!  I checked and saw UNO is now ranked 4th in volume, there!!!

We might not be able to keep it down in the 8's as long as we'd like to....

 Shocked

high volume trading is not the same as high volume buying . but its a GOOD thing for sure .
Lot of people PM'ing me today asking if today's volume on Cryptsy is mine.
First, thanks for thinking that I could put up that kind of volume.
Second,  No. Not me.

It's looking like new money. Hopefully it's long-term new money, but I'm back filing just in case.

UNO is smokin' MaxCoin today on CMC.
2316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 06, 2014, 05:59:42 PM
can anyone tell me how to import a paper wallet into an encrypted vault?

Go to the wallet console, type:  importprivkey WhatEverYourPrivateKeyIs   <enter>

Of course, replace WhatEverYourPrivateKeyIs with your private key. Smiley
Don't you temporarily have to unlock the wallet?
Yeah, you do.  And there might be a bug in that walletpassphrase command.   It should work with: walletpassphrase YourPassPhrase 100
But I get an error when I use it.

My workaround (and it just takes me a few seconds because I've done it so often) is to just switch to a different wallet that isn't protected, and then later I send my coins to my protected wallet. A bit of a Pita, but not too bad.

To create a new wallet, just close the Uno Client, go the AppData directory, and rename wallet.dat to wallet1.dat.  Restart Uno, and voila! A new wallet.dat is created. Enter your private keys.

Of course before you do anything, backup your wallets.

Maybe Blazr2 or BW can look at this at some point, or one of you other guys with some skills can pull the code and submit a fix.

Edit:  Jump ahead this post if you have the above problem:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500.msg9107703#msg9107703

UNO forum persona: who I like to think you guys are lol:
NOte don't take any of this personally, its just for fun

Blazr2: non'human;mysterious being, multi dimesional being of some sort
gustav: German computer scientist; and financial expert
Benefactor: Sheldon (big bang theory)
Falling Knife: I think of you as a boss. The boss on Parks and Rec, the guy with a mustache. Thats you
sirsmokes: snoop-dog's financial advisor
IMZ: A zen-filled wise man. person with a mysterious aura
V500: I always think of the movie Euro trip
pnoch: young genius;
vector.iso: a math teacher
Bitcoin Charlie: Sorry don't know why but --Charlie Brown.
Prominerone- benevolent robotic humanoid. Blue color skin like on avatar

haha sorrry gotta go back to work

LOL!!!!  OMG, that is crazy funny, and strikingly close to how I think of everyone too, minus myself.  I'm an obscure electronic music producer called Rob Vector.....although now that i'm saying this, I can totally see how that would read the same as a math teacher.

funny comparing FK to Ron Swanson.... I think I remember FK once saying he was almost single handed keeping RonSwansonCoin alive with his hash
also i think Blazr is merely the guy who channels multi dimensional beings through mathematically complex occult rituals

I think of myself kinda like this, only more out of shape.

I have never had so much of my portfolio in one coin. But Uno has become my 'base coin.' The Arithmetic is superior.

exactly

uno is glued to the 0.008
that's just how it is.
It likes that .008 a lot and i think it's a fair price for people to get in

It seems that way, doesn't it.
8's appear to be where buyers & sellers want to meet. 008's put Uno at it's normal $500k marketcap, so it's probably a natural level of suport right now, especially with Btc hovering between $300-$350

2320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 06, 2014, 01:37:30 AM
Do you think UNO is too high right now?

Go back and read my rant here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=527500.msg8961322#msg8961322
At that time, I calculated that the market cap at .006 would be $489,843.

Right now at .082 (or whatever it is at this moment), CMC pegs Un's cap at $483,499.

In dollar terms, UNO has not made outrageous gains. My new money btc at .008-009 is buying about the same amount of Uno today as it did last week at 006. Pricing Uno in Btc is giving the illusion that it's more expensive than it really is. It's still a good time to accumulate imo, which is what I'm doing. Don't be surprised when people realize this and buy it up. At $300/btc, .009 gets us back to Un's traditional $500k marketcap.

What will happen to Uno if Btc recovers and goes back to $1000/btc?  Who knows.  I hope it will retain these gains move up with Btc, but that's not the reality we're dealing with right now.  Un broke with Btc and has gained steadily on it since July.   Maybe Un will hook up with btc again later and follow in lockstep, but we don't know yet do we.
If you can get new money into btc, do the math as I did in that first post and see if it makes sense for you to accumulate, but don't be put off by the price; it is not high in Usd terms.
