2341  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: March 31, 2022, 05:37:22 AM
Today is Complexity playing against AGO as part of the ESL Pro League Season 15. Should be a sure win for Complexity, their team is still very competitive and AGO has not a good track record lately. Then on the 1st April Astralis is playing against AGO, should be another save win for Astralis.
For Monday there are more ESL Meisterschaft 2022 games, BIG is playing against Sissi State Punks. Should be a nice match but I expect BIG to win this one, the last two times the teams played each other BIG won. I might be a bit biased because I really like BIG, for me they are still favourites this year. Both teams have roughly the same points, but group A fit Sissis was easier than group B for BIG.
2342  Other / Off-topic / Re: Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor on: March 31, 2022, 04:45:31 AM
Now it's getting a bit ridiculous between Jake Paul and Conor Mcgregor. Jake Paul says now he will knock out Conor in the first round. That's crazy to be honest. First he wants to lose weight to make the fight more fair, then he said he wants to fight in the Octagon under UFC rules and now a fight that is over in one round. Jake Paul might be younger and more fit, but Conor McGregor has all the MMA experience. The fight will definitely go longer than one round. Can't wait for it to be finally happening, going to be a very big event.

2343  Economy / Gambling / Re: Would you support a collective boycott of all Russian gambling platforms? on: March 30, 2022, 10:47:48 AM
Maybe some Ukranian people might also be benefitting out of the businesses owned by the Russians. So, boycotting isn't a good decision.

I don't know how effective this works, but in the past there were more ways to pressurise governments to stop war. Nowadays this isn't possible as countries mutually benefit. Something like signing petitions can be done and this is also just a try and no big changes gonna happen out of it.

I agree there needs to be other methods than just sanctions. The sanctions against Russia are already very hard and hurting a lot of people. I would say that the exclusion from the SWIFT system was the most severe sanctions for the average citizen. The Russian crypto casinos are just a small part of the gambling industry. Do we really need to sanction all parts of the economy?
Right now it seems that there could be a ceasefire achieved between Russia and Ukraine. A status of neutrality together with international guarantees could do the trick. Russia is already pulling troops out around Kiev and want to reduce the bombarding. I hope this war will end soon so that the sanctions can be lifted and Ukraine can start rebuilding its country.
2344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crypto.com as Sponsor's for FIFA World Cup on: March 30, 2022, 07:30:51 AM
Awesome news, the Football World Cup is the biggest sport event world. Fans from all around the world are going to watch this event. For a company like crypto.com who are looking for international platforms to advertise and promote this is the ideal event. Super bowl might have been better for the American Market, but with the Worldcup you can reach even the smallest countries.
Only problem is that usually the Worldcup is in spring/summer, now its going to happen in winter. In many countries there were huge public viewing opportunities and even the stadiums had build up screen to show the matches in an awesome atmosphere. I wonder if with the bad wester on December we will have less viewers than if the games were earlier this year.
2345  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you prefer lots of promotions over better RTP? on: March 30, 2022, 04:11:25 AM
I think that a good RTP is important for a casino to keep their existing players happy and engaged. If the RTP is too low that players will go bust too fast and leave the casino. There should always be a way to make our money back. So if I had to choose between promotions and RTP I would go with higher RTP. The problem here is of course that casino profit margins will be lower and with less money spend on advertising less new players join the casino. The promotions through the advertising campaign might be only for new players, which is a bit sad. Maybe to compensate the lower RTP the casinos could include existing players into their promotions.
2346  Economy / Economics / Re: Monetary fascism in today's world(EU as case study) on: March 29, 2022, 08:22:34 AM
Hungary is not really reflecting Europe. There is a huge difference between Hungarian politics and the politics of the European Union. For the last few years has Hungary changed their laws to control all aspects of the country better, what is in violation of the open mind and ideas of the EU. The government should not be able to control all the important areas of a country, but that's exactly what Hungary is trying to do. No wonder they are crying for a ban on cryptos. The freedom and independence behind cryptos is what makes Hungary scarred. I wouldn't worry too much about it, they will not get a majority.
2347  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Chess online? on: March 29, 2022, 05:37:19 AM
Cheating by using a computer to play chess for you is something that happens mostly on the middle levels of chess tournaments, and the reason for this is simple, a computer does not play like a human, one way in which online cheaters are caught is that their play is compared to the different chess engines and if their play matches one of those engines then we can know they are cheating, so at the highest level of play a GM will immediately recognize that his opponent is using a computer to play on his place, so such cheating is not something that can be sustained for the long term.

I have no idea how big cheating is on the chess world, but I would expect it to be very small in the higher levels. Once you reach IM or GM rank everybody knows each other. The people have been playing chess since their teens and played against each other in many tournaments. It's not like one guy just using cheat software for 2 weeks and becoming a new chess professional. That's why the ELO system is so important. I think that online only players with a long track record can play each other. The potential backlash from cheating, like ruining your career, being banned for life from chess tournaments and paying a big fine should prevent anyone professional to do such a think. For small online chess tournaments with no professionals I think that betting on it is no real option because of the cheating risk.
2348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Friends Give Me BTC as Birthday give on: March 29, 2022, 04:30:27 AM
Happy birthday Mate. Sounds like you had an awesome party.

So far I haven't received any crypto currencies for my birthday from friends or family. Within my family I am the only one who owns cryptos. My parents are too old to invest money in cryptos, they are already struggling to control their cell phones. My uncle and my cousin are both very interested in cryptos but don't have a lot of money to invest in. I am thinking about giving my cousin a wallet for his birthday this year with some Bitcoins and ETH coins. From my friends I have some who invested in cryptos but are just HODL investors and not a lot of money invested.
2349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is a centralized SCAM and will drop to $30 again on: March 28, 2022, 01:27:01 PM
Why do people go in ETH now or trust ETH now when the secret to success was to buy ETH at $0.25 or $10?

The easiest explanation is that it is the second largest crypto currency after Bitcoins. ETH had a lot of success the last few years which attracts a lot of new investors. For someone who has no ETH coins in his portfolio there is no chance to try and wait for the price to reach $0.25 or $10, its just not realistic for the price to drop so far. It's the same thing with bitcoins and waiting to buy it again at 100 or 1,000 USD. The problem is that if prices were to fall somewhere close to that level there would be many people buy all available coins long before. Once we get used to new ATH it's hard to imagine the coins trade near their lows again. ETH is definitely not a scam even if there are better projects out there.
2350  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What and where? on: March 28, 2022, 12:56:33 PM
I saved up a few this month and planning to invest a part of it in trading but I'm not really sure where to start. What should I trade and I'm leaning on using binance since I am confident in using it for a year now. What can you suggest?

Binance is a good choice, they are very large and offer a wide range of coins. Hard to give the perfect coin that will make big profits quickly. As a new trader I would recommend to go for a well established coin. Here you have enough liquidity in the market that you can buy and sell quickly. Also a popular coin means that prices will not move to fast, so the risk of losing a lot of money fast is relatively small. That's why for new traders it's best to go for ETH or BTC. It's a good place to gain some experience in trading.
2351  Economy / Economics / Re: Rio de Janeiro To Allow Paying Taxes With Crypto Starting From 2023 on: March 28, 2022, 06:55:34 AM
That's an awesome move. I hope they will make it possible that all kinds of taxes can be paid in cryptos going forward. This creates so many new opportunities for Brazil. Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city, maybe they want to transform into the new crypto capital of South America. For the big crypto traders this could be a chance to relocate to Rio. Imagine trading during the day and enjoy the beautiful beaches and nightlife in the evening. Also if this will be a big success for Rio then other cities in Brazil and South America will do the same. Another great news for the crypto community.
2352  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which sports are you placing bets on? on: March 28, 2022, 05:47:07 AM
The most bets I place on esports games. In the past I played a lot of Dota 2 and watched all the big tournament matches. I always liked betting and did so too in the game. The most money I made from OG games. But once the skins started to get very expensive in CSGO, I switched to playing that exclusively. Today I only bet on CSGO matches because I am not following the Dota scene anymore. Except esporrs I like to bet on Football, Basketball, MMA and boxing matches. All these sports are very popular in my country, where ever you go you see matches on TV. And betting on the matches makes watching them so much more interesting.
2353  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Long Term Holders - When Do You Plan To Cash Out? on: March 28, 2022, 05:01:25 AM
For those people who are long term holders of btc or any crypto, do you have a plan of when you would sell it?

At the moment I have no real plan on when to sell any bitcoins. My first bitcoins I had back in 2016 unfortunately I didn't save them and sold them all. Back then bitcoins was a nice and fast way to deal online as part of my CSGO skin trading endeavours. Selling was my biggest investment mistake, I should have just held on to them. Not going to make the same mistake again. All my coins now I want to hold for a long time. Maybe when bitcoins reach 200,000 USD I think about selling some, but never again will I sell all of it. The only way where I could be forced to be selling my coins would be if there was big renovations cost coming up for my apartment and I had no other form to pay them.
2354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why are there so many coins and the reason why some developers failed on: March 27, 2022, 03:07:49 PM
Some of the reasons why I think some developers fail is because:

1. Lack of funding both the starting aspect and the launching aspect (lack of money to continue)
2. Failure in out righting frauds
3. Failure to evolve especially when the coin initially start bomming

I think that your 1. point is the biggest reason why most alt coins fail.  There were unfortunately some coins that got only developed to scam people. Looking at them is not really helpful because the designed from the start to only be active for a few months after launch. As soon as the developers manage to get rid of their coins, trading should slowly disappear until the coin is worthless. For active managed coins that try and succeed, its very important to set enough money away for the time after the launch. A successful coin not only needs promotion before the launch phase but also after it. The most important aspect is to have liquidity in the coin to allow quickly buying and selling. The less trading happens in a coin the more will be investors cautious to invest in it.
2355  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender bias in gambling. on: March 27, 2022, 10:09:21 AM
Why the bias? should gambling be only for Men?

Gambling should always be gender neutral in my opinion. There is no real argument that wouldn't allow woman to gamble. In the past it may be seen like that, but back then it was a cultural thing. Woman were expected to stay home and look after the kids, while men go out, drink, smoke and gamble. Life has changed a lot since then. In todays society it's all about equality and gambling is not the exception. I would expect the majority of gamblers to be male. That's because men are more willingly to bet their money away for big possible payout in the future. Woman are the better financial planers and more cautious investors, I would expect them to gamble less.
2356  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Understanding "When" to trade. on: March 27, 2022, 08:00:37 AM
Some other times not to trade as well are;
- On holidays.
- During Major news events.
- When you are emotional unstable.

Very valid points on the timing of our trades. I agree with you that the When is most of the time more important than the How. If we buy right before the Dip than it doesn't matter how good our research was and if we picked the best coin, all prices are likely to fall. Having a general strategy for the current market position is good way to avoid such missteps.
Not trading during major news events is wrong though. In my opinion trading during big events can return very decent profits. In behavioural finance there is a whole subbranch that focuses on overreaction during crisis. In most cases traders will give too much weight to the current crisis and think everything is over, there is no tomorrow. Buying against the herd during such times can bring good returns. Of course not trading at all and waiting for the dust to settle is also better than panic selling.
2357  Economy / Gambling / Re: Casino Game on: March 27, 2022, 06:24:16 AM
Don't feel bad that are new to the gambling seen and don't know much about words and meaning behind. Nothing wrong with asking questions. We all started somewhere and had to learn the basics on the gambling world. Like you found yourself there are casinos that offer a large variety of games. The forum here has a lot of crypto casinos that are doing some advertising here. Not all the casinos are the same, some fucus more on games like Dice or Blackjack, and others focus on poker. Do you only want to learn the basics, or are you also interested in playing yourself? For fun or to make money? It better to have a clear understanding before you decide what you hope to achieve with gambling. Also before you start gambling, try out some casinos and use play money instead of real money to get a feeling for the games.
2358  Economy / Economics / Re: I heard a rumor that OPEC will go 300 USD / barrel this year on: March 27, 2022, 04:29:43 AM
I heard a rumor that OPEC will go 300 USD / barrel this year ,what do you think ?

Not an expert on oil pricing, but to me 300 USD per barrel seems too much. Consumer would go crazy with such prices at the gas station. The oil price went from 70 USD in January to around 120 USD now, so it wasn't even a 100% increase yet. Going to 300 would mean 300% from January, it's too much. The problem I see the higher the price will go, the more pressure will be put on Opec to increase production which will bring prices down again. Also if the oil price will be long time above 200 USD it's very lucrative to go back and trade with Russia cheaply.
2359  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A month of WAR on: March 27, 2022, 03:02:11 AM
A very good summary of the impact of the Ukraine Russia war. A few things I would like to add. After the intital days of panic it became clear that this war will not be start WW3 and it is going to be an isolated conflict. The West and Nato can't risk to go to war with Putin over Ukraine. That is why bitcoins rebounded and trade now higher than at the start of the war. Life has to go on for the rest of there war. There are negative impacts from the war itself but also from the sanctions. That's why any country close to Russia is calculating the cost of the sanctions on their economy. Turkey and China probably being the biggest cases, both countries rely on good relations to Russia. As for Europe there is no real alternative for the energy coming out of Russia. All the gas contracts can't just be stopped overnight.
2360  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The paradox of arbitrage betting (and how to make money on it) on: March 25, 2022, 09:49:47 AM
I'm not aware that there's a scenario that 2 book maker offer an exact opposite odds on each outcome. Can you provide a sample bet pick from different Casino that this kind of arbitrage betting can be applied? This will only happened if one of the bookmaker commit an error on placing odds but as I remember most of the bookmaker has a centralized data on all of there odds so it's very hard to spot a match that contains this scenario. Or I'm understanding your point in the wrong way.

I will really appreciate if you can provide actual sample even if you don't actually place a bet. Just a comparison sample. Nice thread by the way boris!

It might be hard to provide data for such arbitrage opportunities because the market is moving so fast. There are probably hundreds of people looking for the opportunity to make some free money. So I would expect as soon as there is an arbitrage the first few people will get money quickly and the opportunity disappears quickly. The bookmakers try to no have risk for themselves, so they will adjust quotes quicky. The more people buy one leg of the bet, the faster the odds will adjust.
