1421  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: January 21, 2023, 08:15:36 AM
Three more matches of the group stage of the Blast Premier Spring 2023 are being played today. Missed all the games yesterday as I was travelling, but want to place bets on all three matches today. The first match will be NaVi vs NiP, which should be a win for NaVi in my mind. On paper NaVi is the much stronger team even though they lost to NiP in the BLAST Premier Fall 2022. I think NaVi is motivated for 2023 and will show a strong performance after mixed results last year. Evil Geniuses managed to beat Heroic in the first match which was very unexpected and also a close match between them, winning two maps 16-14. There is no chance for them to pull it of again against Vitality. Vitality is a strong team with ZywOo and should be taking that match easily. The last game will be the lower bracket finals between Astralis and Heroic, a full danish match up. Heroic is the much stronger team and should win that match easily. The played each other in the Blast Premier Fall 2022 where Heroic won 2-0. Hopefully in none of the three matches today will be an unexpected winner.
1422  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: January 21, 2023, 07:48:15 AM
Failed if we only look at the price perspective. But if we look at the overall situation there maybe it somehow didn't fail since they are still promoting bitcoin on their country and there candidate in miss universe represent them with Bitcoin symbol on their national costume.

Bitcoin take a good spotlight there when Miss El salvador walk in the runway.

I agree with you, timing wise it was a bad decision for El Salvador to adopt bitcoins when they were so expensive. Nobody could have known how bad 2022 is going to get, but in my opinion the project didn't fail yet. There is some public opposition against bitcoins that doesn't make much sense. Selling all the bitcoins now will only result in a big financial loss. It would be much better to keep holding and sit the bear market out. I am still convinced that long term El Salvador will succeed with bitcoins as a legal, if they can withstand the political pressure until prices are going to recover. The dress of Miss El Salvador looked amazing, I hope they can use more public places to promote bitcoins for their use. And once the next bear market comes we will talk about the success for El Salvador and hopefully other countries will follow.
1423  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat and crypto and stock is bs, but property is real on: January 21, 2023, 07:42:38 AM
I know all stock investor loss money and some of them are killed, but not all property investor loss money, when Elon Musk said crypto is as bs as fiat, I challenge him to prove me property is anything resembling bs.

That's not true mate, why are you saying that all stock investors are losing? There are plenty of successful investors who made a lot of money. I also like investing in real estate and think it's a good addition to any portfolio. But I would never sell all my stocks to put it into a property. Just look at the average return of stock over the last 20 years. There is no reason to avoid stocks all together. Investing into a single property is much more risky than investing into cryptos or stocks. It all comes down to the location of your property and in which condition it is. A newly build or fully renovated house will bring you 25% more rent, same goes for a central location compared to a far away house or apartment. Not every property will make you rich. And if there is a unforseen problem with the roof or heating for example you might be forced to sell it if you can't afford the repairs.
1424  Economy / Gambling / Re: What do you appreciate more Desktop or Phone on: January 21, 2023, 07:33:52 AM
I am strongly in favour of desktop applications or even web based, as I think that phones are usually to small and I do not really trust much the apps, but there seems to be many people who would rather use their phone. Is that because they do not have access to a desktop computer? It may also be a regional issue, the same as people that do not use a browser?

I feel the same when it comes to both gambling and gaming. The phone screen is too small for my taste. Everything that involves money I prefer to do on my desktop PC or tablet with a much bigger screen. I would be afraid to click something wrong or miss something on the phone. Also my mobile Internet connection is not so reliable, that's why I never play poker on my phone. In the past I got timed out a few times, losing money only because my connection was not stable. Another issue I noticed in the past was that the mobile format of some casinos was buggy. Maybe that changed by now, but I will stick to my PC for gambling. I find it also so much more relaxing to sit at the PC, listen to music and control everything with a mouse and not my fingers.
1425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: January 18, 2023, 03:05:31 PM
Regarding how politics is in the USA, I think that everything will revolve around Biden and Trump, I don't see another option that is more viable, also from what I have seen of Terrump he is in very red numbers and that is something that subtracts many points from him When it comes to considering a presidency, upon reaching the presidency I think that many things would get worse, but I have seen a certain part of the USA that is very biased towards Trump's ideas, I really do not understand it, although there is a something very different from how politics is handled in South America, I see similar things, a lot of radicalization in terms of a political ideology and that for me is a mistake, when it falls into ideologies it is that things do not look good for the future.

It's really crazy how both parties are not trying to buildup new candidates for the 2024 elections. I am only watching the political spectacle from the other side of the Atlantic, and it really baffles me that no one is trying to bring in a much younger politician for the race. The mid-terms where a debacle, like voting the new speaker. There is no clear majority for either one of the two parties. In my opinion this only shows how unhappy the voters are with their two candidates. Realistically I don't think that Joe Biden could be president for another 6 years, he already seems so lost sometimes now. Can't imagine how that would be in a couple of years. And then there is Trump, we already have seen 4 years Trump and it wasn't as bad as some people expected it, but also not much changed for the good. A much younger candidate would have a very good chance to beat either one of them, that's why I would not bet yet on the election. It's better to wait and see what will change in the next 1.5 years.
1426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why will Bitcoin have value? on: January 18, 2023, 02:40:16 PM
Bitcoin's value is maintained as it is exchangeable with various products and day by day various circles, famous people, institutions, countries are recognizing Bitcoin around the world.  Moreover, various business organizations are accepting Bitcoin as a payment system for their business.  Because Bitcoin is such a global revolution, its value will always remain.

I agree with you that bitcoin will always have value. The real question however is what the value of bitcoin is going to be in the future. Over the years we have seen a lot of volatility in the bitcoin market, 1 BTC has been worth 1 USD and more than 60,000 USD. Right now we are fluctuating somewhere in the middle. I understand that many people want a very high price for bitcoins so they can make a big return. But I don't think we are there yet. In my opinion it would be best if the bitcoin market would settle down and not change prices so quickly. The more stable the price is going to be in the future the more new investors will be attracted. I think the crypto world can still grow a lot when markets are a bit calmer.
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Online Gaming Competition for Gamblers on: January 18, 2023, 08:54:06 AM
Website:https://excess.ga/

Excess.ga, It is a decentralized game running on the WAX Blockchain

This game uses a completely random system in the prize based on the RNG smart contract

The game is easy to understand

It's nice that you are trying to promote a new casino game here. It's the first time I am hearing about it and it sound interesting. If I understand it correctly you are playing against other people and it's based on randomness and not on skill to win. Which is a good thing to some extend as it gives newbies the chance to play more easily and not be at risk to be farmed by high skilled players in the beginning. The only problem I see with a game that is solely based on randomness is that there is no real chance to have advanced strategies and develop skills in case you want to play more serious, but for fun it should be a good game. I need to spend some more time understanding the game before giving it a try on the weekend. What I noticed is that your youtube video explaining the game has only 45 views, which is not really a lot of people. Maybe it takes a bit longer to spread awareness of your new casino game, I am just wondering if there will be enough players to fill all the tables.
1428  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your biggest obstacle to achieving financial freedom ? on: January 18, 2023, 08:42:22 AM
It's you. The biggest obstacle to achieve financial freedom is ourselves. We cannot blame someone if we are not living lifestyle that we want, the only thing that we can only blame is ourselves. That's the truth in this cold world. Financial freedom is possible if we have desires and also plan on how we can become like that.

Dreams are just dreams if we will not work and seek opportunities in this world full of abundance. Our mind is limitless, people who don't grow are not thinking outside of the box. That is the reason why we need to think differently from others. There is knowledge that are not publicly available because some of it has price and that kind of knowledge that we should seeking for us to think outside of the box that can helps us to achieve financial freedom.

Unfortunately you are absolutely right, it is in our own hands on how we are spending the money we earn. There are some fixed costs in life that everybody faces like rent, food, clothing and others. But there is a huge difference in what kind of things we buy, for example there is no need to buy brand names all the time. My grand parents always told me to buy high quality products and don't care about any brand names. We want to buy things that last a long time, because if we only buy cheap products they will likely break down very quickly again and need to be replaced.  Working and increasing our salary is one side we need to focus on, but also it's important to keep the expenses in check. Getting rid of any unnecessary expenses helped me a lot to save more money each month to put into my crypto and investment portfolio.
1429  Economy / Gambling / Re: What sort of Weekly & Monthly Bonuses do Bitcointalk members want? on: January 17, 2023, 02:58:45 PM
Do you guys happen to have any recommendations for a formula we should use in determining what an appropriate weekly/monthly bonus should be?

It's good that you have special promotions for the VIP gamblers. High rollers who spent a lot of time and money at a casino deserve extra promotions and higher rake back to keep being entertainted. But it would also be nice to have some promotions for the average gambler who doesn't have a large bankroll. I understand that the profit from small size gamblers is very limited for the casino, but these average gamblers might one day become high rollers themselves. We should be only gambling with the money we can afford to lose, that's why gambling in small sizes is a good start for anybody. My recommendation would be to add some promotions that focus more on the number of games played, and the time spent at your casino. This gives a chance for the regular customers who don't have a lot of money to also use the bonus. And this will also help to build up long term customer relations.
1430  Economy / Economics / Re: Use your money wisely. Invest or Deposit ? on: January 17, 2023, 02:40:26 PM
We should be always ready to think and use small funds to make bigger funds. The rich people that we see today with huge net worth do not just started big, they started small and now they are able to make big money because they are always ready to take important risks not just any how risks.

For us to be successful we must be ready to buy and sell and sometimes that might incurred loses that could discourage us from taking bold steps that could make us earn better.

Those that are able to become stronger even in difficult times are the ones that are mostly celebrated today. The wise investors would always think of better ways to make there businesses more better with lots of improvements.

It depends on what does rich mean for you, if you mean the billionaires whose children's and  grandchildren are set for life, then most of them didn't start with nothing. Families like from Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk, they all had money before they became billionaires. And even if the families didn't have millions, they at least had contacts to wealthy people to help their children. I think it's very hard to create a successful business out of nothing without help. If you don't have a good idea and a good network to help you, then maybe it's better to deposit your money than lose it all in a failing business. If we keep depositing our money in crypto currencies than we can also make a decent return. Creating and running our own business is no guarantee to become rich one day.
1431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 17, 2023, 08:32:31 AM
Yeah, those are some great strategies for dealing with losses in gambling. I'd like to share some of mine

Personally, I like to set a specific time limit for my gambling sessions. For me, I've found that limiting myself to only 2 hours of gambling at a time and not gambling on weekdays has helped me to stay disciplined and in control. It's not always easy, and it's taken me a while to get to this point, but by consistently sticking to this schedule I've been able to keep my gambling habits in check. It takes time, patience, and determination to be able to control oneself, but it's definitely worth it in the end.

Another tip for me is to only use a set amount of money for gambling. If I lose that money, I stop and don't try to chase my losses. It takes a lot of discipline to stick to this, but it's important to not let gambling take over my finances

I also make sure to spend time on other hobbies that help me stay focused and creative, like reading or playing sports.  I read for 1 hour before sleep and run 5 miles in the morning mostly every day. Sporting makes us higher than gambling.

Another important aspect for me is prioritizing my family and relationships. They are the most important factor in my overall happiness and well-being. I make sure to spend quality time with them, whether it's having dinner together or going on a trip. I believe that having a strong support system and maintaining healthy relationships can greatly impact our overall mental and emotional state, which in turn can help us make better decisions when it comes to gambling

That seems like a very healthy set of strategies you have here and by reading through I think that the main focus we all can learn from is to have other important things in life that don't involve money and gambling. Setting a fixed time and money amount for gambling is also my main strategy to keep in control of my casino habits. Without having a fixed framework I spent too much time and money in the past with gambling. Already back in high school I was struggling with not a strong discipline, always leaving all my work till the last hour before the deadline. That is why I also need fixed rules on what to do when face a losing streak. Taking a break is necessary to clear my mind and I think this year I will also try to focus on other hobbies. Sport is a great idea that is also one of my New Year resolutions to be more healthy, so whenever facing a losing streak it's a good plan to focus on sport instead. Also you are right that family and friends are the most important thing in life, we should not be putting gambling above our own family. Being emotional stable in our relationships will help to remain calm when gambling and deciding on which risks to take.
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 17, 2023, 08:12:05 AM
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?
~ Why so people hold rather than sell and buy again when low
~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?

Most people who hold their bitcoins for a long period of time are doing so because they believe in the bitcoin project and it's a very successful investing strategy. Prices are hard to predict for any volatile asset, we might not find the lowest or highest price to sell coins. Over the last few months a lot of people here on the forum where actually buying bitcoins. I think we all can agree that buying bitcoins for 16-18,000 USD is a very cheap price. But as soon as you start selling all your coins to try and rebuy them at a cheaper level you are actively trading and following a different strategy. You will need to observe markets, invest a lot of time for research and it's not guaranteed that this is going to lead to much higher returns. The main question is if you need the money or not. Usually we should be only investing with money that we don't need, so you will not be forced to sell at unfavourable prices.
1433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is It good For The Casinos And The Accusers If .. on: January 16, 2023, 09:33:12 AM
Is It Good For The Casinos And The Accusers If the casino operators decided to post a disclaimer that they will not answer accusations here in Bitcointalk but prefer to address them on other platforms that they think are fair and moderated like Askgambler and other platforms?
What's your take on this I don't want to be specific but the question applies to all casino operators.

It depends a bit on the issues itself, but in general I would say that people should try to figure out the issues directly with customer support and not here on the forum. It might take a little bit of time for the support staff to fully understand and look up the issue before it can be resolved. Positing directly here on the forum there will be a lot of exposure and replies instantly. The gambler usually only shares his side of the story and we might not be able to fully comprehend the issue. This directly puts a lot of pressure on the casino and might scare customers away, even though the issue coukd be resolved. In my opinion the forum should be involved once the interaction with customer support leads to nowhere. If it's really a scam than of course we need to warn our fellow gamblers, but maybe it's only a misunderstanding that can be solved quickly. In case everybody would make a thread here on the forum instead of contacting the casino directly, then there would so many posts that it becomes hard to stray on top of them with what is a huge issue and what not.
1434  Economy / Economics / Re: Always Buy Up - a discussion about having Strategy in your Life. on: January 16, 2023, 09:22:54 AM
That being said - I'll leave the rest of the discussion to those who are blessed enough to find this post. Happy New Year - Make 2023 a great year, regardless of market conditions or world outlook.
Take the time to develop yourself as a Man or Woman, and be the best that you can be.  Cool

Thanks buddy also to you a happy new year. I really liked your short essay here and you are absolutely right that we need to make plans in life and focus on the long term development and not the short term gain or loss. My first boss after university always used to say that to achieve success in life you need to look at it as a marathon and not a sprint. We all are facing setbacks from time to time, but that shouldn't discourage us from trying again. There are only a lucky few in life who achieve great success overnight, most of us have to work a long time for it. Development is very important, we should never stop learning new things as standings still already means going backward. Time is moving forward and so we need to do the same. Never give up and good luck.
1435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction touched forum users in a very sad way... on: January 16, 2023, 07:55:54 AM
Cold Key owner retrieved private keys of all the sold 'cold wallets' he produced and as he was in need because of gambling he stole all the funds.

Sorry but this not really fair to say that he was "in need because of gambling" to steal all the funds. Nobody is in need to steal money, that is a criminal act and there is no excuse for it. Gambling addiction is a terrible thing that can ruin a whole family, but we can't use it as an excuse for someone to steal money. We are in control of our lives and he should have known better to not reach the point in life where we need to steal money to support our habits. Nobody is born as a gambling addict, it's same with alcohol, drugs or other things in life where people struggle with addictions. It's a gradual process that slowly lead to bad habits manifesting itself and become harder to control. For me there is really no excuse to exploit the goodwill of people and steal their money. I hope we would go one month without a scandal in the crypto world. All we can do now is to learn from this and not trust others with our our private keys
1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you still holding your coins #btc on: January 16, 2023, 07:40:44 AM

So am curious to know if everyone is still holding or have chicken out and sold theirs.

I didn't sell any of my crypto coins during the last bear markets. Looks like I am with the majority here, holding strong my coins. 80% of my crypto investments are in bitcoins for which I have no plans at all to sell them. The same goes for my alt coins, right now is not the time to sell any crypto coins. Actually I have been buying bitcoins for the last year, with making small purchases every month to take advantage of the cheap prices. As long as bitcoins are around the 17-22,000 USD level it's very cheap in my opinion to buy new coins. It's just a matter of time for the next bull run to come. Nobody knows when the prices are going to pick up again and if we sell all our coins now we might miss out on the next big rally. Better to sit out the bear market than to miss out the bull market.
1437  Economy / Economics / Re: what is the key to your success investing in bitcoin.. on: January 15, 2023, 06:08:35 PM
I, who don't have much experience in bitcoin, want to ask what is the key to your successful investment in bitcoin?
and I want to ask if you have ever experienced investment losses in bitcoin?

The best recommendation I can give anybody who is new to crypto investing is not sell valuable and profitable projects for a short term gain or to avoid a short term loss. As long as you are not selling any coins you are not realising losses. If you don't need the money then there is no real pressure to sell. Crypto currencies as most other asset classes like stocks move in cycles, after a bear market we have right now there will come a bull market eventually. And if we are not invested in the market we might miss out on the next bull market. My biggest investing mistake was to sell all my bitcoins on 2016/2017 and miss out on the big rally 2 years ago. I am not going to repeat that mistake again. HODL has been one of most successful strategies for all the people wo jumped into the bitcoin market very early. Don't worry too much about short term price movements and focus on the long term trends instead.
1438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: betting against the Public, is this strategy working? on: January 15, 2023, 05:58:26 PM
I heard this strategy working but I like to know based on your experience if this is working.

For those who don't know about this strategy, you can read here to educate yourself.
https://www.wsn.com/betting-guide/betting-against-public/

Sounds like a very interesting strategy. I would agree with the article that a lot of people bet on what they would like yo happen, and not what is the most likely scenario to happen. When it come to sports there is a lot of emotions and rivalry involved. Some fans would never consider betting on any other then than their home team, which means that the odds for the big teams with a huge fan base should be skewed. Trying to exploit this inefficiency and betting on the underdog should be a good strategy. The only problem I see is that there are a lot of different bookmakers out there which all place their own bets. So it might take some time to collect all the data across all betting platforms to see which are the most popular and where is the majority getting the odds wrong. Would be nice to run the strategies for a few different leagues and compare where it is the most profitable.
1439  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does a trading strategy becomes obsolete? on: January 15, 2023, 05:40:47 PM
Now, many Trading Gurus are teaching the best strategy to use. Wherein fact, strategies are becoming obsolete as time goes by. If you are new in trading world, definitely you will be eaten by those traders who know a lot in trading.

It's true, there isn't one strategy that is going to work forever and will always make you money. Whoever is trying to sell you such a strategy is not telling you the complete truth. Markets are very dynamic, there are so many different traders that are always looking for a new strategy. Which means that a profitable will attract a lot of traders, that is going to make the strategy less profitable over time. It's important for any trader to constantly reevaluate our strategies and stop using them once they are not profitable anymore. This also includes to not trust blindly any trading guru. They might have their motivation to promote a certain strategy and we need to make up our own mind. The best is to not put all our money on strategy and rather split it out across multiple coins and multiple strategies.
1440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can players bet on their own games on: January 15, 2023, 08:48:47 AM
So i would like to know if you heard of any player been caught doing that? and if my example is right?

I remember reading some stories about players betting on their own matches in the past, like 15 years ago and the league found out leading to a big scandal. In the end they lost everything, didn't get paid by the bookmakers and got banned from playing for 2 years leading to get dropped from their team. It just doesn't make any sense to risk losing our job for a one time payment which is not even guaranteed. Most sports are team games and one player will have trouble to influence the game in a major way. I would expect that if you take the risk to bet on your own matches that you are looking for a high payout,  so betting on the winner of the match alone is not going to give a good return. It would be better to bet on at what time the goals are being made, or the exact number of goals. But even if you are in the match and can influence it yourself, there is still a lot of randomness in the game. Maybe some players will use close friends to bet on their own match, but even then there is the risk of it coming out and ruining everything is there. As a professional athlete I would expect that your interest and knowledge of the sports betting market is not so big.
