XP

Seems like you are giving me instruction on how to use "command line" to set up another wallet within Electrum.  I have never used command line as suggested by my preface.

I understand but there is always a first time. I promise you it won't bite Smiley

I assume using File>Open does the same thing?

File open opens an existing wallet. Once you've created a new wallet you can indeed use file open to open it. You could also create a shortcut (right click shortcut > properties > target) like this to directly access a specific wallet:

electrum -w c:\path\to\wallet

Quote
That still leaves the main question of what would be best to do.  Is it correct to assume that it is better not to have all your btc in one place?  If so, is there any difference in safety or security between having multiple wallets in Electrum as opposed to having multiple versions of Electrum?

Multiple wallets are fun and useful if you are a power user. You can isolate coins from different sources under different wallets. You can setup offline wallets and online watch only wallets. Offline wallets are considered safer than online wallets.

Multiple versions of electrum on the same system are not useful.

Thank you for your help and encouragement.  I was unable to get command prompt working properly in XP.  I now have 8.1 and I can now get command prompt to respond to simple commands.  I just did some searching and all I could find was that command prompts for Electrum were unavailable for windows as of March 2013.  Are they presently available?  I would really like to setup an additional wallet.

Micon, thanks for the update.  Just want to let you know that after changing from XP to 8.1 Seals has not crashed on me.  I've only played 4 short sessions so I still have my fingers crossed.
2403  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - State of the Alloy on: April 05, 2014, 01:53:01 AM
Dear Bitcoiners,

Since the 1st of january I have officially left my previous job (computer scientist at INRIA) in order to work full time on the development of Electrum. My plan is to create a company, Electrum Technologies, that will distribute the Electrum software, and sell related services. This company project is now officially supported by the incubator of the french region Lorraine (http://incubateurlorrain.org/ ); we signed the contract yesterday.

I am now working on version 2.0 of Electrum. The following features are under development:

1. A Patricia tree data structure, also called "Ultimate Blockchain Compression", will be implemented in Electrum servers. This data structure allows a client to get the balance of any address instantly, and it will also generate a "proof of completeness" (the root hash of the patricia tree), that can be used to check that the server sent all UTXOs related to a given address to the client. A first implementation of this patricia tree was recently completed, and is available in the 'fulltree' branch of the Electrum server. This prototype uses a 256-way branching, and can import recent blocks at 2s/block. Following maaku's suggestion ( https://github.com/maaku/bips/blob/master/drafts/auth-trie.mediawiki ), I plan to upgrade it with binary branching. I also look forward to maaku's C++ implementation, which should be much faster than Python.

2. Version 2.0 will use BIP32 wallets with multiple accounts (this feature was initially planned for 1.9, but it had to be postponed)
Some of these accounts will have no "gap limit", so that merchants can create arbitrary numbers of addresses without messing with the internal parameters of their wallet.

3. Version 2.0 will have a daemon mode, that remains always connected, and that can be queried with json-rpc. This means that shell scripts will be able to use multiple Electrum commands without without opening and closing sockets for each command.

4. A 2-factor authentication service using multisig addresses is under development, that will be available in Electrum through a paying plugin. I made a demonstration of that service in Barcelona last fall, during the meeting organized by genjix. I am now working with lawyers, in order to define the terms of use for that service.

The ETA for version 2.0 (including points 2 and 3) is about 1 month from now. The multisig service (4) will probably require an extra month in order to be finalized.

I am looking forward to the coming months, and I hope to deliver the best possible software.

Thomas

Note: I will attend the Berlin conference in february; send me a note if you want to meet me there.

Any updates?

Be sure to join todays 300 GTD Satellite for your chance at the seat in the Big 300 GTD Nightly.

Also checkout the new Nightly 20 Chip Freeroll - 20 GTD which runs at 10:30pm EST.

Congratulations to JACKSORBETTER who won today's first daily 300 GTD Satellite, 1 Seat GTD tournament with a 1 chip buyin, which then placed JACKSORBETTER in the Big 300 GTD Nightly - 25 Chips which JACKSORBETTER also won!  Not bad for a 1 chip buyin.

That 20 chip freeroll is 10 chips.

The 10 chip tournaments are still clearing the bonus at 10%

I checked the cash games and it was 15%

Oh, the 1st deposit bonus is 100%? Thanks. Why all these bonuses work so strange, got to email and stuff :p Can't you guys (from Betcoin) automatically apply a bonus? (or have no bonus and just lower the rake.) Also, I don't like to e-mail, can Betcoin support on this forum apply the bonus to me? (username: NLNico)

I honestly did not play some tourneys today because I don't have a bonus and feel like I am missing value while others do have that value. The tournament schedule does look really good, would like to play at least that big 300 daily and prolly most 5/10 chip tourneys.

The rake is already low.  The deposit bonus is to get you to ...........deposit.

They also have a rewards program where you can convert points earned from playing into btc.  It starts at 9% rake back and increases the more you play.  However you can't move up any levels playing only tournaments with the current schedule.  Cash games is where you pay the rake and earn the points.  This is the same on any site with a rewards program whether it is btc or $.

do you guys know how many ways late reg could be used to collude?

Its bad news for a site like seals.

that's exactly why they don't do it

you could just register an other time with an other IP

How do you get "exactly" when Micon has repeatedly said he wants late reg?

They don't do it because the software currently doesn't have that option.  It is being talked now about because a new client will be released this year that will have that option.  Micon guessed it is possible in 3 months.  It is a guess and I would take the over as that is how this process invariably runs.

Betcoin.AG, as the quote function is not working would you please look at post #435.

I played another 10 chip tournament and the bonus counter only registered 10% of the fee.  As stated in my previous post the 10 chip tournament I played where the bonus cleared at the 10%  was played after the tournaments where I received the 15% bonus clearing rate.  There seems to be an issue with the clearance rate of the 10 chip tournaments.

Micon how do respond to some of the rumors floating around that your site is rigged to produce dramatic play scenarios to increase rake potential?

You mean the same rumors that are floating around about every site?
2412  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: March 19, 2014, 09:48:39 PM
Then why not make the start time 15 minutes later?
2413  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetcoinPoker.com-24 DAILY GTD TOURNEYS-RING GAME PROMOS-100% Bonus, BTC, LTC on: March 19, 2014, 07:14:26 AM
The last tournament I played was a 10 chip with a 0.5 fee and my bonus cleared went up 0.05

That is 10% not 15%

The bonus clear rate for the 5 tournaments prior to that one looks like 15%. Those were all smaller than 10 chip buyins.

Also last Tuesday the 11th I played cash and the bonus cleared at 10%.

I am available for hire but be warned that all tracking and calculations were done with a pen and paper.

You said you were working on a faster release of bonuses.  Any word on this?

We still are working on this as well as the status points which are also earned and released into btc.  Have you had a chance to access your status points as well and see the Player's Club levels?

Yes I have checked it out.  I guess you misspoke as it is the rewards points that can be converted into chips and the rewards points are based on the status points.  I have converted some rewards points.

Under status points my current month earned is about 3x my lifetime earned.  Obviously this is wrong.  Also my current month earned total includes the points earned last month.  I believe last month was the only other month I earned status points as before that the low stakes games were rake free and did not earn points.

As you did not respond you may have missed this.  Since this post I have earned more status points which are reflected in my monthly total while my lifetime status points total decreased.  The rewards points total is also correct.

Hello nioc, bonus money is released at a rate of 15% of the rake generated by the player.  We hope this answers your question and please let us know any other questions.

I don't know what is was before.  Is this a change?

Also starting Friday my lifetime status points are no longer decreasing as I earn them and they are increasing at the proper rate although the total is still not correct.

Thanks for the guess.

It will only crash if I'm in a game.  This is for the PC client.  I once had Seals open for a few hours before playing and shortly after I sat down it crashed.  I will be getting a new computer soon.  Hopefully that will help.

How is the PC client with Windows 8?

2417  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: why electrum on: March 16, 2014, 07:27:16 AM
no download, no backup. and it doesn't matter if my computer falls in a vat of acid.

I gave the seed to 2 people who I trust with my life in case I am disabled or when I die.  I almost wrote if I die but that would be stupid.

The lull is because the big money is not using the exchanges you are keeping track of.
