Switched to electrum as main wallet before about month or so cause bitcoin-qt take redicoulous amount of resurces and time to sinchronise with network and using Coinbase on mobile but thinking to change that cause Coinbase sometimes need few hours for single confirmation.

If you don't have control of your keys you don't have control of your btc.    As much as I trust coinbase to keep my btc there is still trust involved.

Add to that the fact that coinbase does blockchain analysis to  prohibit certain uses makes me not want to use them.

Monkey thinks price will be downish until Monday-Wednesday turn starts a steady upward move, but 250 will hold the bottom.

I ask again, has your monkey got this bitcoin thing down yet?  I know he/she was a bit weak several months ago.

My Cargo Cult TA© says buy as of an hour ago.  I already bought yesterday as I anticipated the change due to the quickness of the dump.

Remember so far this past week it was
buy at 282
sell at 290
buy an hour ago at 260 (I bought at 253)
1483  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 18, 2015, 11:22:28 PM
Any lucky people get in a buy under $250 today?

By lucky you mean soon-to-be bagholders?

Hello my sweet fonzie Smiley

Even though my Cargo Cult TA© isn't at buy I couldn't help myself and bought some at 253 as I was a little slow after work to get under 250.  I have replenished the coins I was forced to sell last year at ~ 50% of what I sold them for. Smiley  Looking for more but no rush.

1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 18, 2015, 05:51:20 PM
why do you guys think we need an anonymous cryptocurrency?
i think in future there will be a better feature than darkwallet out there ,that can protect your privacy

if you want anonymity with Bitcoin the process giving you anonymity has to be better then the blockchain analyzing techniques that are currently available as well any techniques in the future as the records on the blockchain are permanent

Electrum has recently released a new version 2.0

It has a lot of improvements and is still easy to use.

I have two wallets and the one with the most coins which is just for hodling isn't even on my computer.  I have the seed written down and it is in 3 secure locations so that I can access them anytime or if something happens to me they will not be lost on the blockchain.

Is not Electrum dependent on a central server ?

It is a "light" client so you don't need to download the blockchain therefore you need to connect to a server that has the blockchain.  There are many servers and you can randomly connect to one or choose one.  From what people who know say, there is no security risk.  If for some reason the electrum service would disappear you can still access your btc as they reside on the blockchain not in your wallet.

Whatever wallet you use your btc is on the blockchain and not in your wallet Wink  You access the blockchain with your wallet .  Did I get that correct?  I put it simply so I'm sure some would like more detail.

Edit:  electrum is an OpenAlias-capable client.  This means you can set up a custom address that looks like an email or web address instead of a string of 35 random numbers and letters.

after following this thread for a year I've made my first transaction based upon TA.  I bought based upon the 6 hour KDJ lines.  I decided to buy 13 hours ago and put off the bills till later in the month as opposed to buying Bitcoin later in the month.

Then I think of oda.krell   Grin Cheesy Grin

Edit: and dreamspark

I get the feeling there's either an insult wrapped up in there, or a compliment.

Or possibly both.

ಠ_ಠ

Definitely a complement.

Looks like my Cargo Cult reading of TA worked Smiley

This is the latest scare. Pulling people over and if you have too much cash without an explanation they like they seize it.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/21/us/asset-seizures/

Quote
In the case of the two poker players in Iowa, months after their money was taken, they reached a settlement in which most of the money —$90,000 — was returned. They told CNN they believed it was the best deal they could have made at the time. Now, however, they are suing to get the rest of the money back and have asked for unspecified damages. The state of Iowa isn't giving it back and is not backing down.

This is the classic mistake: To settle for getting 90% of the money back. Now they are suing after the settlement. The question becomes are their chances of success more or less now?
Edit: These guys are poker players yet they do not seem to understand the concept of bluffing. My bet is with the state on this one.

Let's assume they are professional poker players. That being the case the $100K was probably essential to their livelihood. If you are a baker and your bakery is seized, you don't really have the luxury of waiting ages for the case to play out in court to see if you might get it back.

They were pro players - they are also not the only poker players I know who have had this happen to them. I can think of 5 off the top of my head in the last 12 months all very similar stories.

It seems just a little bit too coincidental to me.

They took the settlement because 90% today is better than 100% in 2 years time. This stuff happens more often than hits the headlines.

What I meant was that it's a bit too coincidental that poker-players in particular are being targeted. It almost looks systematic. Figure out who's a relatively successful poker-player and so forth..

They will stop anybody and everybody.  They need no cause to seize cash or property.  Guilty till proven innocent.  It's been going on for years and is getting more prevalent as time goes on because it is a successful means of raising funds for local police and towns.

This is the US we are talking about.

It would be nice to know which posts are considered spam and why. So far 1/2 of my posts this week are excluded.

Altcoins are excluded.   Monero much? Smiley

Many don't know, Many are new, A few even asked for this in the posts above Smiley

Table Starter "Auto-50%" Rakeback:
- Always on for >6max tables
- Active for 2 or 3 handed play
- Automatically earn 50%, paid to your SwC Poker account each Monday!

You don't have to do anything except play short handed to activate this rakeback. Once the table goes 4 handed the rakeback stops, but if it gets back to 3 or 2 handed then it would activate again on a per-hand basis.

I am hoping the reminder of how much we give back (and how low we rake to start!) may fill some of those empty tables!

That looks like greater than 6 max tables while it is my understanding that it is 6max, 8max and 9max tables.

I don't have an "equal to or greater than" symbol on my keyboard either.

You attracted me with the freeroll but I'm leaving due to the issues I mentioned.  I don't mind waiting a bit for a withdrawal, it was just that I requested a withdrawal right after winning a freeroll and was hoping that wasn't an issue.

You won'y get flogged by me but maybe donk4u will Grin Grin

I agree with your general idea but maybe the lifetime status could be used as a multiplier to the krill earned during the qualifying period of the krillroll.

Some people grinded with the krillrolls as a goal.

Edit:  I wrote this before I saw Sicilian's post Grin
