1421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: April 02, 2015, 02:32:46 PM
With XMR.TO we can send to a btc address privately.  What needs to be done in order to receive privately from a btc address?

Create new Bitcoin address and never spend that coins/ use mixer/ exchange them back to monero

Bribe us to implement the other direction! Wink

No, seriously: if there's considerable interest, we might consider implementing BTC->XMR.
It's not on the dev schedule as of yet, as we weren't sure about its usefulness.

Opinions?

Think its a great Idea.... New to Monero but so far loving everything I have been researching...Could do with out seeing the devs/faces of the project plastered everywhere arguing with every god dam thread but hey, ..this is crypto Wink................ I think making it BTC->XMR could be a big help to drive user adoption and reduce friction in the XMR purchase process. Having away to seamlessly go from Mass adoption (BTC) to Monero can be nothing but helpful. Its basically a Monero tailored ShapeShift.io (Which if I read correctly erik will be adding Monero to shapeshift in the near future!!)

Did I really start a meaningful discussion?  How novel.

My original thought was that btc coming from let's say a poker or sportsbook site could be tracked.  Given the restrictions recently implemented by coinbase it seemed there was a need to receive privately from a btc address.  I'm sure there are other examples.

It seems that there is more to it than I originally thought.

As far as shapeshift, it has been soon for a while now and I have no expectations.

@arnuschky, I don't have much to bribe you with.

The serious lag issue is still not solved, very miserable when I play here. I have many times with many chips, and finally lost because of sitting out, and I click I am back, it was no responding, and the client is usually no responding or dead. So that I have to kill the process.

How about you, guys? Smooth or lag?  Huh

Smooth for me.  I think it only lags in the freerolls.

Cargo Cult TA© report

Another sell signal while I was sleeping, same price as the last buy signal and the sell signal before it ~246.

Truly sideways we are.  Is btc now a currency?

1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 02:14:54 PM
What is your ratio between bitcoin and XMR you have ? I have personnaly put about 50% of my investment in BTC and about 50% in XMR.

I was only 100% XMR but I have recently bought more btc so make that 90%.

I am not a whale and the total cost of all the btc I bought is less than 0 Smiley

Guy in Romania had his house hit by meteors like 3 times over the years.    How much would you have bet against that?  Selling XMR below 1 BTC requires, in my mind, a reason why the utility of XMR will remain inferior to that of BTC over the long run.  But in fact, its utility is superior in the most important dimensions, and very likely to improve dramatically in the superficial ones understood by trampstamps and bronies, as funds for development are freed up by rising market cap.   And if it can go to 1 BTC, it can certainly go to 10 BTC.   Doesn't mean one should buy it though.

Now you tell me Tongue Tongue
1425  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: April 01, 2015, 11:58:44 AM
Those "girls buying shoes" jokes are getting old guys. Every guy I know has more shoes than me, seriously guys, admit it, you love shoes too and I'm sure some of you have way too many, don't lie.

I have 7 pair of shoes which consists of 3 pair of dress shoes, 3 pair of sneakers and 1 pair of boots.

On our last trip my gf packed 12 pair of shoes for herself.  That was a small sampling of what she owns.  I packed 2.

It is April 1 but that is no joke.
1426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: April 01, 2015, 11:44:40 AM
Just sayin

XMR: 0.00415444 BTC
XMR: 1 USD

I'm a bit shocked to see the strength post at this level.
I know many, me included, really saw .003 coming and perhaps holding but the push post that has been huge.

Seems like big buyers have really helped push us up, nothing new there. Is is synonymous with smart money?
The more I look into XMR the more that seems to be the case.

Scary to think what might (actually, what probably will) happen when BTC starts another run.

Methinks XMR might (and probably will) "rise [like a] chikun" (as was chanted in the btc-e trollbox) like LTC ran from $1.11 to $48.48 in fall of 2013.  This will likely accelerate as BTC finishes the bottoming pattern and begins its next rally to $3-$10k BTC/USD.  XMR will be a greater "chikun" than LTC especially once GUI arrives and it grows widely adopted & utilized.

So when is btc going to 3-10k?  I heard it was happening last summer. Wink

I put my Polo stash up for sale at btc parity. Smiley

I made a small amount of XMR trading today but I really hate to do it as I don't want to loose (correct bct spelling) any of it.  Yeah yeah I know. Tongue

Everyone get ready for the April Fools' Pump today! Grin

No pumps or dumps might get seen as the markets have gone sideways, seems some stability has come at ~250 as the value has been hovering round to it all the time since months...

Stability, does that mean btc is now a currency?

Hmm, yeah that would suck to not have sound.  I never knew that was an issue.

Am I the only one that hasn't had a problem with sound?  I'm sure I've had all the updates, and it's always worked.   Huh

never and issue with the sound, you are not alone Smiley

Played some 0.03-0.06 LH and the blinds were 0.03 and 0.06 Huh
I've never seen a limit holdem blind structure like that where the big blind is twice the pre and post flop bets.

Please explain this better?

In 99.9% of limit games the BB is equal to the size of the bet pre and post flop, that is the first 2 betting rounds.  For the 0.03/0.06 game that would be a BB of 0.03 and not the 0.06 it currently is.  The small blind is 1/2 the size of the big blind but being that 0.03 is an odd number it can be either 0.01 or 0.02 and if you want to play you have to complete it to 0.03 assuming there is no raise.

The way it is now to call pre flop is 0.06 and to bet post flop is 0.03.  Also the first raise pre flop is to 0.09, a 0.03 raise of the 0.06 BB.

I have no idea how other stakes of LH work as I did not look at them.  They should all use the same structure.

Unlike now almost all cash games spread used to be LH before NL became popular due to NL being on TV and therefore "real".

Cargo Cult TA© report;

The info used is mid term so it does have a bit of a lag and I ignored the last turn to buy a couple of days ago and hence the following sell.

This current buy signal looks real and the price was 246 which is just about what it was at the last sell signal I called.  That makes 4 wins and 1 tie so far.

Remember I'm keeping this simple and am only tracking one thing Tongue Cool Kiss

Before anybody gets the idea that Monero is very difficult to use I would like to tell a story from the Drooling Masses©, that be me.

I use windows, what else, and installed Monero with the help of the kind and patient people ITT last June.  There is nobody noobier than me.  I was also able to install and run a miner, update the client and use simple wallet.

I imagine things will get easier going forward.
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When did you first hear about Bitcoin? on: March 29, 2015, 03:57:17 PM
January 2013 upon finding out about Seals With Clubs poker room.  I bought some btc to play and upon finding out more about btc I bought more to hodl.  That was before the first bubble of 2013 Smiley Smiley

It takes a few seconds to refresh. Most systems take a few seconds or you need to click on it. Were working on making it faster.

the problem is when someone is sitting at the table it often shows 0 players.

when the lobby refreshes the sorting goes back to default instead of what you have it set for; players, steaks etc.
1435  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 29, 2015, 01:01:50 PM
As some of may have heard, BIT-X will be releasing a Bitcoin Debit MasterCard shortly, first shipping commencing Monday, March 30.

As part of the first series of giveaways, all members enrolled in the campaign will be entitled to a card without the issuance fee of 0.05BTC. Just to gauge interest, who would be interested?

Fees are outlined below:

I have no experience with other debit cards so I have nothing to compare this to.

$25 for my name on the card and $12 a month if I don't use it? Tongue Tongue

No thank you
1436  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 29, 2015, 12:57:10 PM
yep, the withdrawal fee is kinda annoying, I don't why they need to deduct a % from the amount..

the problem is is still too high, it was 200k before, now 125k or something, why it can't be like any exchange(30k-50k max)?

Cryptsy takes 0.001BTC from all withdrawals.

I use Poloniex, they take 0.0001 btc Smiley

Cargo Cult TA© report;

After seeing the sell signal and calling it, it quickly reversed and went from 247 to 252 but I took no action as evidenced by no post here. I wake up this morning and see we are at 242.

I am having my tea and we shall see.
1438  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetVIP.com - Professional Bitcoin sportsbook! Best Odds & Most Live Content! on: March 28, 2015, 07:23:36 PM
I decided to check out the poker again.  I played a freeroll tournament and see that if a player is moved to any position they are forced to post a big blind.  I have never seen this on any other poker room.  If one is forced to change tables they definitely shouldn't be posting a blind when not in the blind position.  Is it the same for regular tournaments?
1439  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 28, 2015, 04:59:39 PM
When someone says USD pegged they usually mean the payments will be priced in dollars, paid in btc, e.g. 23 cents a post, paid in bitcoin using exchange rate at the time of payment.

This is what I meant.

Sound great, the Bitcoin price fluctuation won't impact on the posting income.

You are not participating in this campaign. Tongue

It will impact the amount of btc one receives in an unknown way.  It's all about the btc.

I guess for Bit-X it's not all about the btc.
1440  Economy / Gambling / Re: LuckyFlop.eu Bitcoin Poker | 48 FREE ROLLS DAILY | 5mbc FREE to New Sign ups | on: March 28, 2015, 04:53:03 PM
I am sitting at a cash game table and in the lobby it shows 0/6 players.  It was showing 1/6

You can sort the lobby by stakes, game, players etc.  The problem is that everytime the lobby refreshes it goes back to default and removes your sort.

These 2 issues make it difficult to see if anybody is at the tables and hinders games starting.
