1501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 14, 2015, 04:18:19 PM
so any solution to avoid those things.
what i mean. i have in poloniex some altcoins... ok?
i have them because i want to trade. if they get hacked or anything else i loose....right?
how can we avoid those things?Huh

Poloniex did get hacked once and they made everybody whole.  They of course have improved security and have proven their integrity.

Obviously there is still a risk but it is a far cry from what has just happened with the dice site.

Most of my XMR is in my wallets but somehow the amount of XMR I have on Poloniex keeps increasing Tongue

1502  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetVIP.com - Professional Bitcoin sportsbook! Best Odds & Most Live Content! on: March 14, 2015, 04:04:01 PM
I played in the freeroll and won a small amount.

The software is from a site that closed last year and is still horrible.  There were no cash games running when I was on the site.  There was a game listed as having 2 players seated but nobody was actually there.  I sat in a play money table to see how things worked.  The rake was 10% which is high for a btc site and there was no cap to the rake Huh  I certainly hope that is not the way it is for cash games.  I looked for rake info on the site but I couldn't find any.  There was almost no info at all.

In the freeroll if a player is moved to another table they have to pay the big blind no matter what position they are in.  This is just wrong.

Thanks for the freeroll but I will withdraw my winnings until such time as you get your act together.  I hope there will be issues withdrawing.

i cant see the free roll, where is the free roll exactly?
Thanks

There is a"tourneys" button, can you see that?

If yes, click it, you can see there are hourly freerolls, 1m and 5m, and click the freeroll, there is a button “register” in your lower left.

Keep it open, when the time is up, there will be a pop-up windows, yeah, you can play there.  Cheesy

See you there. Cheesy

My first try.  I registered for the FR that was supposed to start 20 min ago and it hasn't started.  I'm not shown on the list of registered players but if I try to register it said I already am and now it says registration is closed.  The tournament lobby shows everybody has 0 chips.  What's up with this site Huh

1505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you call it the block chain or blockchain on: March 13, 2015, 11:53:54 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto always referred to it as such:
block chain

However, I see the term "blockchain" used a lot anyways. Do you think we should use Satoshi's terminology to prevent confusion with Blockchain.info, who will usually just refer to themselves as Blockchain? Or am I worried about nothing? Tongue

I discovered btc in early 2013 and had no idea there was any other choice besides blockchain.  Thanks for the history.

From my little background in mathematics blockchain would be the highest order of appreciation.

"block chain" refers to the two english words, which would be a regular description of any chain of blocks. Since the blockchain was something new at the time it is only natural that satoshi worded it in that way.

Blockchain with a capital B even in the middle of a sentence would refer to a proper name or the name of a service.

What does that have to do with mathematics you ask? Its all linguistics! Well yes... many mathemtical theorems are named after mathmaticians. They are usually writen with a capital letter since the derive from the name of a person. Not so abelian[1] which derives from to the mathmatician Abel, but is used in lower case.

Its also less work to write blockchain Smiley

PS: I voted "who cares"

I believe shorena covers it very well including his "vote".

I posted the following on the old thread by mistake Embarrassed

I just noticed that I received my krill + table starter rakeback 3 days ago.  It is listed in Cashier>Transactions along with every table buyin/reload as well as every time you leave a table.  Please put it on your list of things to do making the transaction history more like it was on Seals.  I'm sure you can make it even better.

Thank you

1509  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: March 12, 2015, 07:56:12 PM
Well. I submitted hodl to urban dictionary with the following definition:

hodl: A long term commitment to uncompromisingly retain possession of a thing without regard for any changes in sentiment or market conditions.

And the following example:

I know ill end up shooting myself in the foot if i try to day trade my bitcoins, so I'm hodling. I'll check back on price when it's time to retire.

They rejected it. I don't know why. If someone else wants to try to resubmit it, go for it.

That's an awesome definition! Why did they reject it???

I think I would change "thing" for "currency"or something similar, if you mention market conditions after.

They probably rejected it because they didn't understand it.

democracy Roll Eyes

seems reasonable to people at the left side of the bell curve but eternally frustrating people on the right.

Good definition! You can submit it to urban dictionary Smiley

haha ok i tried it, lets see if it gets accepted.

it was accepted

Thank you Anon 136, we shall always be grateful to you.  Next stop the Oxford English Dictionary  Grin

I think you may misunderstand. I added a new definition for democracy. They steadfastly refuse to accept hodl....

You correctly understood my misunderstanding.

It doesn't seem like I'll be able to get more btc under $300, I hope I'm wrong as I need more to hold.
1510  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 12, 2015, 05:30:05 PM
Ok.. this is a little embarrassing, but here we go...

I bought these to carry paperwallets when travelling in the future:

(P.S. Don't look at the video on the page.)

Whoops I looked at the video.

I was trying to reach my btc goal while the price was under 300.  Looks like that is impossible.

Why local post do not count?
Spam local post shouldn't be paid is reasonable.
I think local post should be paid but should limit the number.
How can Marco know if a post is spam or not if he doesn't know that language? He might do that, please wait till his ban expires.
Well posts in INDIAN local section should be counted! Everyone speaks in English over their!

Well, that would eventually create problems. People might start telling posts made in English in local boards should be counted. I will tell him about refonsidering local and altcoin board. Will keep you updated! Smiley

I am involved in 2 altcoins and my posts there are the least spammy.

I strongly agree with this, weekly payments and on the weekend  Smiley

I bet my weekend is different than yours Smiley

I don't care about weekly vs monthly payments as I mostly hdol.

Payments to my Bit-X account will make me check out their service.  If they can't at least make us consider using them then................................................

I keep getting called for an open seat at a full table Huh

Each time there is a player that is disconnected, not always the same player.  If nobody is disconnected I don't get called when table is full.  Seems that the client thinks the seat is empty when a player is disconnected.

This past weekend there was a Bitcoin conference at MIT.  There were women on the panels and as moderators.  They knew Bitcoin inside out and were very very sharp, more so than most of us here.  I'm on my phone so it's a little difficult but you can easily find the videos.

Why does the software update everytime I open it is getting kinda annoying I just want to play !

Seals with Clubs closed and SWC opened with new software that was not quite ready so this is trial by fire hence the frequent updates.  It only takes 15 seconds to download and update, doesn't seem a big deal to me.

Someone didn't realize its the calm before the storm and decided to short another 1K on finex... More fuel for the fire!

Nice, they can sell some of them to me, I am buying on any weakness today. Already scaled back in on the "dip" this morning.

yes I bought on the dip this morning, the problem is it was the same price as when I went to sleep last night.

Sorry I get a bit sloppy after a 14hr work day Tongue

Not sure if this is a known issue or not, but this guy just paid the big blind twice in two consecutive hands in the "medium BTC" currently running:

That has to be a bug, right?

The grid software always did that.  This is due to it always requiring both the small and big blind and no forward moving button when a person in a blind position leaves. (and/or maybe the button?)  This is a rare way of dealing with the situation

Seals had a forward moving button so you could play the big blind and next hand play the button, again due to someone leaving the table.  This is more common but not usual.

PokerStars does it like most online and live rooms do where the button must go to where the small blind was last hand.  Sometimes the small blind is missing if someone leaves but everybody at the table ends up playing 1 SB and 1 BB per round.  What will happen is that someone will get the button twice.

There is no way to make so that when a person misses the SB the game plays the same way as when all people pay the BB SB and button without leaving.
1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the purpose of creating a new wallet for, why not use just 1? on: March 08, 2015, 12:41:24 PM
My reasons of confidentiality Smiley
where one does not know my main wallet, and I could break it with multiple addresses

yes true as stated above, to avoid from hackers. and another one to shy away from beggars(if they know my wallet filled with bitcoin)  Cheesy

I imagine from the OP's question this answer is a bit beyond what he is asking but in response to your reply as well as others here, I use Monero for privacy.  It is much better than mixers as it's anonymity is built into the protocol using proven crytographic principals.  Other privacy coins use mixers...for that you could just use btc.

I can pay anyone who accepts btc with Monero/XMR using xmr.to
