I offer you hope.  They are younger than me Smiley
1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas M. Antonopoulos testimony for Australian Senate on: March 08, 2015, 12:41:24 AM
Earlier today I was watching the live stream of the first day of the MIT Bitcoin Expo.  Guess who gave a talk?  It was a bit different in that the subject was mining but the way Andreas tied it into the central design of btc with his usual clarity was something I had never heard before.

I watched this video in it's entirety and hope the Aussies come to a better understanding than the one which caused them to recently tax btc.

I don't think I will get a chance to watch the entire 4 hr set of hearings that Bitware linked above.

We all owe Andreas a debt of gratitude for the wonderful work he is doing.

MIT Bitcoin Expo Starting now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIgjogLipvk

Thank you for this link.  I have been watching it today on my only day off, I will miss tomorrow but I'm sure they will post it.

Andreas was very good as usual especially with the questions he answered at the end.  Mr. Lee was quite boring and could not watch.

There are women in btc!

What I found very interesting was Joi Ito's comments on "stealth fecal matter implants".

Lunch break just started.

I bought more btc today as it is <$300

Being out of work for much of last year I was forced to sell some of my stash.  I have recently replenished what I had sold and was able to buy them for about half the fiat I sold them for.Smiley Wink Cheesy Grin

I plan to continue to accumulate as long as btc is under 300 and reevaluate when it goes over.
1525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptonote: More Bitcoin Than Bitcoin on: March 06, 2015, 11:46:39 PM
I learned of btc in Feb. 2013 as a US online poker player.  Withdrawing funds was difficult and Seals With Clubs, an online btc poker site, promised ease of transactions.  This was true.  After buying my first btc and learning more about it I bought many more than I need to play and all purchases except my first one was through Coinbase which I then transferred to Seals.  I was learning about btc and being unsure of wallets used Seals as my wallet in the beginning.  This was before the first "bubble" of 2013.  If I did that now I would be banned from Coinbase.  At first I sent my winnings to coinbase to cashout.  If coinbase wanted to be very strict they could analyse the blockchain and know exactly what I was doing.

What I first learned was that btc was anonymous.  This turned out not to be true.  As far as using coinjoin, there are weaknesses to it.  Improvements have been made and I expect more will be done but the analysis of the blockchain also is getting better.  A point that I don't think people appreciate is that as the analysis improves, what you thought was sufficient will no longer be so and those tools can be used retoactively Shocked  This means coinjoin and other ways of providing privacy have to be resistant to all future analysis tools for it to work as intended.

The real issue is privacy.  With a transparent blockchain and advanced analysis your financial history is an open book.  For anybody who thinks that financial privacy is not important, may I suggest you post your bank account statements and/or your credit card statements for all to see.

Again, with cryptonote you chose which transactions are pivate and which are public.

and here, it seems, we are trying in vein to discuss the fundamentals of cryptonote as a protocol.

Fortunately there has been some discussion that isn't "DRK RULES!!" and / or "bitcoin is the one true coin", but its somewhat buried.

Thank you for all that you do.

It's "in vain" Smiley

There is a wall of 200 btc wall at 0.00194....

Aaaaand... it's gone.

Instead, there is 200 btc buy support above the yesterday's low  Grin

my app says yesterdays low was 0.0014? did it miss a trade?
EDIT: that low was about 36h ago

Where are you trading at and with what app? I'm using Poloniex for buying my Monero, but the UI is soooo slow and nearly broken on my android.

Polo crashes my phone, and my mediocre laptop barely functions.  Crazy resource hog.  Since I don't trade much, I can put up with it to buy my moneroj.  It sure would be nice to have a 'light' version with fewer features though.

I also don't trade much and would not attempt it at Polo on my new android phone.  I find it almost impossible to scroll through the order book.  I did cancel an order once.

To check the price I use bitcoinwisdom, no lag at all.  One stop shopping Cheesy

It's gonna get worse...or better depending on your point of view. We're headed for parity.

Parity is where the Euro started.

More fiat today + <$300 = more btc Smiley
1529  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 05, 2015, 09:05:27 PM
There was a 30% increase in the # of bidders.

Who tweeted [Bids approx. 30% above market]?   This makes it sound as if the winning bid price was 30% above market as there is no "market" for the # of bidders.
1530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people should get rich and how much is rich? on: March 05, 2015, 02:00:28 AM
Rich?

I have more than the Kings of England could have imagined 100-200 years ago.  Fruit and vegetables out of season.  Go from London to Paris in a couple of hours.  Antibiotics.  Cell phone, with camera.

I have never missed a meal.

As Bob Marley said: Now that you got what you want, don't you want more.

And yet anytime I have spare fiat I buy cryptocurrencies.  Only because I believe it will enable me to continue not missing meals.

sudo pacman -Sy virtualbox
sudo modprobe vboxdrv
virtualbox

Then  my image of "MicroXP".

Runs like a top.
on that line, you could upload somewhere MicroXP installed img? I was trying to install this in an Android emulator, but for some reason refused to install. From what Google told me i would need the hdd.img (qcow2) with xp already installed, basic qemu settings(qemu32 proc,sb16, cirrus and ne2k).
i had images of w98 and w95 that worked at an acceptable speed but no network access on w98 and im not sure if Swc soft compatible with that either.
Im not trying to be smart and stuff, just patient and..i can't do nothing about seals,so i trick myself into thinking that Micon&co will handle it right. What else one can do anyway?Only time will tell if they make it right or wrong.

Agree, I can certainly install virtualbox on my debian system but I don't have any microsoft windows images lying around because I've never had any need for them.  I'm not sure if seals with clubs is worth installing windows over (even in a virtual machine).  I'd be tempted if someone has some sorta free windows image I should try.  I'm certainly not going to purchase anything.

And, btw, why on earth are we getting a windows client before getting browser play up and working.  browser is obviously cross platform and usable by anyone anywhere.  windows is apparantly still used by some people but ...

Did these guys hire some kinda .NET C# developers or something?  What happened here?

Windows is used by most people.

They got this software because it was good and you can play all the games on it.  The only drawback is it's only windows.  They will have to develop browser and other platforms themselves.

certainly xmr is not pump, looks dump to me.  Smiley

No matter how much you post you won't get Moneroj at the price you are hoping for Smiley

300 today, moon tomorrow!

I was a little late to the party as I was a little short of fiat.  Have some coming in now and I told myself I was only buying under $300.

What will I do tomorrow Shocked

What's with lightWallet GUI? Not synchronized... As far as I understand, blockchain from  http://xmr1.coolmining.club:5012 may be not workinking, No daemon connection report me my wallet.. Is this true?

The following is what you get when you go to that pool...................................

This pool is closed, not enough miners who are dumb enough to concentrate hashrate on 2 or 3 big pools.
Too stupid and too bad.
I would like to thank all the miners who supported this pool so far, i can count them on my left hand

We try to fit it into three words. Secure. Private. Untraceable.

In reality, it's tens of thousands of lines of code.

It's tens of thousands of posts, all part of a recent living past.

It's thousands of people, each an individual beating heart.

All sitting down mashing buttons on a keyboard.

And it's so much more than that.

[snip snip]

Much more than mashing the keyboard Wink

Thank you for being here.

DB Smiley Wink

As far as the opinions on podcast versus written missives.  This has about 60% of the podcast already transcribed.  Because I'm slow I listened to the podcast while reading the transcription and found it much easier.

Spiked at 1850 sat, it would had been nice to be selling some HYP there and buying back below 300 sat.. anyway i won't place HYP on the sell book, i will rather stake!

And beside of that it is hard to stay at #100 on the richlist by staking 100%

The richlist is only approximate as some transactions are missed although never from staking.
1539  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: March 02, 2015, 01:54:19 PM
Micon,

I have not read about anyone else having my particular issue.  Any time I try to join an existing game a dialogue box appears that says "Client must restart."  The client shuts down when i click "ok."  I can join an empty table without this dialogue box appearing but when someone sits me it pops up and the client shuts down.  Is the problem on my end?  If so what can I do to fix it?

I had this same issue with the Grid software. I was never forced to click "OK" so I was just able to move the dialog box to the background and the software continued to work just fine (minus the open dialog). I believe the problem was resolved after I uninstalled the software restarted my computer then reinstalled the software but I don't remember for sure. Good luck and let me know if this works for you. Thanks.

When the dialogue box appears the table freezes so dragging it off to the side doesn't help.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times.  I am out of ideas.  I emailed support and they said they would pass it on to the technical team but no suggestion as to how to fix the problem.  Still haven't heard of anyone else with this issue so it very well might be on my end but I have no idea how to fix it.

I'm on my phone so I can not check it out but somewhere in the options you can select legacy graphics that may help

just multiply your own max position by 1000 and think what happens  Grin )

But don't worry, it's not this week or month, I hope...

That's more XMR than will ever exist !!  Shocked

LOL  I wonder how many 5-6 figure holders there are.  What happened to statdude?

I haven't seen statdude here since shortly after he had a significant amount of btc stolen from blockchain.info.  I believe due in part to a compromised email.  He had a thread about it and although others seemed to know what was happening, I as usual was clueless.
