2461  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Coinbase noncustododial wallet recommendable? on: April 25, 2022, 05:46:15 AM
Everything in life have two sides, pros and cons. For beginners, who don't know how Bitcoin works, it's not too bad for them to begin with centralized wallets or custodial wallets. It is good enough if we consider it in terms of convenience and early gates for them to expose to and get access to Bitcoin. The convenient use helps them to get very first experience which will be important to keep them staying or leaving.

Points are, what will they do after first experience with centralized exchanges or custodial wallets ? Only few of them will be exposed to good resources on DEX, non-custodial wallets and reasons why they should use such ones.

It's not too good to expose newbies with complicated things that possibly barriers for their access to Bitcoin. As old Bitcoin users, I feel it is easy (and I believe you feel the same) to use non-custodial wallets, from creation to backup, recovery, broadcast transaction, customize fee, etc. but I do know how complicated it looks like at beginning.
2462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African country adopts Bitcoin as official currency on: April 25, 2022, 05:31:08 AM
Take El Salvador for example. It is a tiny country with one of the weakest economies in the world that doesn't even have its own currency (their national currency is US dollar!) they didn't dump USD, they just added an additional option called bitcoin. Suddenly previously known democracy is no longer referred to as a "democracy" by the propaganda machine known as media and there are mass protests for no reason in El Salvador against Bukele government!!!
El Salvador is a good example because we can see how early hype in that nation occurs and how it disappears months later. It is more easily for their citizens to accept Bitcoin in early days that combined with the bullish market. Who don't like to receive Bitcoin and months later, it has a double value. Oppositely, it is less acceptable for them (as non-Bitcoiners) to take Bitcoin from customer payments and months later, its value is halved.

There are minor proportion of their citizens successfully converted from non-Bitcoiners to Bitcoiners by legal tender in that nation. I am not optimistic but I believe it's just a minority of El Salvadorians have become Bitcoiners in last 2 years.
2463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First African country adopts Bitcoin as official currency on: April 25, 2022, 05:24:55 AM
The minister of digital economy, post services and telecommunications, Gourna Zacko, and the minister of finance and budget, Calixte Nganongo, initiated and submitted the draft law establishing both the legal framework for cryptocurrency regulation and Bitcoin as an official currency in the Central African Republic.[/i]
From draft laws to official one and fully implementation of it nationwide are a long journey. In order to have a fully implementation and adoption, it requires lot of things, from national infrastructures by governments to easy access to Bitcoin for their citizens. If governments can implement the first part, then second part will play its role to convince citizens to use Bitcoin or reject it.

Convenient access and use cases for Bitcoin nationwide will be keys to convince citizens. Personally I don't think that process will be easily built in short term.
2464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay away from coinsbit on: April 25, 2022, 03:27:01 AM
Coinsbit has very low processing time for withdrawal request. From my experience, it takes up to a few days with several rejection. Eventually, my withdrawal request was approved and proceeded by Coinsbit. However, it was done after I created support ticket on website and pinged their team on Telegram.

I did not know why several of my withdrawal requests were rejected. Honestly, I did not lose money on Coinsbit but it is a bad experience on my side. First, it takes too much time to receive my coin from withdrawal; second, there is unknown reason why my requests were not approved easily.
2465  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Transfer 500 Sats (0.000005 BTC) via MainNet in 2022 on: April 25, 2022, 03:22:11 AM
You can send your Bitcoin at the min fee rate at 1 satoshi/ vbyte. Depends on how small or big your transaction size is, you will have to pay different transaction fee. Transaction size depends on your input and output, address and transaction type (P2PKH, P2SH, Bech32)

Let's use the tool from Bitcoindata.science. Type number of input, output, address format and you will get the transaction size. You can try and see that there is good chance for you to make that transaction with total input at 500 satoshis and transaction fee would be around 200 satoshis.

I'm happy to say that I am no longer in the newbie rank. I can remember being ashamed of the newbie rank glaring on my profile.
You don't have to be a Legendary member to be considered as a real asset of the forum. Your posts and your contribution combine together to make your name and reputation on the forum.

I soon got used to it and then ignored it and focused on growing my knowledge on btc and crypto in general.
You should learn about security too. Because cryptocurrency is on digital environment so there are risk of hacks, wallet compromise etc. To be safe, you must have good knowledge about security and good practice in order to keep your devices as cleanest as possible.

Practice well will help you to prevent unexpected harmful exposure of your devices to potential threats.
2468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a good way to privately buy Bitcoin? on: April 24, 2022, 01:31:38 PM
You can bookmark the website https://kycnot.me/ for later checking in case you need to find non-KYC exchanges or services

Bisq, Hodlhodl, localcryptos are one of non-KYC platforms you can found with kycnot.me

Additionally, you must prepare your coins (inputs, outputs) well enough for your transactions. Use change addresses as well. All of them combine with non-KYC platforms will help you to better privacy when you have Bitcoin transactions, buying or selling.
2469  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 6 real-life lessons I learnt from Bitcoin (No 6 will amaze you👇) on: April 24, 2022, 10:53:50 AM
To succeed in Bitcoin and crypto market, you must have a right approach. To get this, you must think deeply about yourself, about your personal traits and consider what are your strongest and weakest characteristics from which you can choose a good approach for yourself.

Let's prepare for loss before you can get profit
Let's have your solid plan to hodl your Bitcoin. If you can't hodl, you can't get rich
Don't trade if you even can not get profit by holding
Don't sell all of Bitcoin you have and you should reserve 10% of your Bitcoin for future Moon, at $1M, $2M, whatever moon price.
2470  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The trend is your friend if you know how to identify it)) on: April 22, 2022, 02:09:20 AM
Share tools or your opinion on determining the turn for bitcoin.
With Bitcoin, you should have a long term vision for your investment. What is a long term trend of Bitcoin? Superb bullish according to its yearly chart.
There are ups and downs, Green and Red months, massacres in the market but long term, the trend is bullish.

Quote
The topic is interesting because correct knowledge of the Bitcoin trend will help predict the direction for 98% of altcoins according to my observations.
Altcoins are too risky and they can easily lose 99% of their all time high values when either the trend is over or the trend of crypto market turns from bullish to bearish.
2471  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies Hodle and profit in a Pumps and Dumps market. on: April 22, 2022, 02:01:12 AM
My advice goes to
  • Take profit when price goes up high enough to do it. Be happy when you take profit no matter how the price will move later (even if it rises 2-fold, 4-fold more later)
  • How many proportion of your initial investment should be taken profit?
    • You should have plan to take profit partially, not all at once
    • You should take profit to retrieve your initial capital back. Assume it requires 50% of your total token. Then for rest 50%, you can take profit next times with 20%, 20% and 10%. Make sure you reserve 10% or 20% of your initial token as your bet.
    • It is a safe strategy because: (1) You already get initial capital back, so no loss in the end; (2) Already take profit, so it's already a good investment, no loss and somewhat profit; (3) the reserved part will help you rich in case that token has 50x, 100x
  • After you take profit, forget about that token. The longer time you stay with it, the more risk you will be trapped by the market
2472  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's in for crypto wallet companies? on: April 22, 2022, 01:44:04 AM
Hi everyone, good day, I am just curious and I have a question in my mind today, nothing comes for free as we all know it, developers create crypto projects to solve the issues available in the crypto world today
Not all crypto projects are created to solve real issues in our society. Most of them are created by following a trend in crypto market. They are clone projects that are created from source code of leading projects in each trend.

Quote
and also make money out of it but what about wallet devs? Few new wallets are showing up without having their tokens out of the box, my question is how are they making money
Developers can earn money from premined coins that can be publicly presented in White Paper, on website, etc. or be hidden for shady intention. They can earn money from allocated tokens so it is why you have to check tokenomics carefully. Pay attention on vesting period of developer tokens and check top holder wallets to make sure there are less risk of token on the market in early weeks or months.

Developers can also earn money from selling their tokens in ICO, IDO, IEO, whatever derivative of such for a common purpose of fund-raising.
2473  Other / Meta / Re: Issue with uploading photos on: April 22, 2022, 01:38:26 AM
buying a copper membership and reaching the Jr. Member rank of this forum is the best thing to post and image.
It's not correct.

  • You can post here with whatever rank. There are limitations on lower ranks but to be honest, I don't see too much inconvenience with waiting time between two posts (6 minutes for newbie members). Because I even spend a few minutes to read, pick one to reply and spend time for my post. So I guess it is not a truly trouble for newbies who usually need to spend more time to read and reply
  • Copper Membership gives some similar benefit as the Member rank, not Junior Member rank
2474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it bad to leave crypto on exchanges? on: April 21, 2022, 01:36:13 AM
Not your keys, not your coins
There are many real hacks on exchanges and many scam exits based on faked hacks in history. Even one exchange is really hacked, will they be ready to make compensation for customers? It's just probably. If they compensate, will they compensate by the exact coin you lost, in the exact number or they will convert it into fiat value at the time of hack for compensation. In addition, will they compensate instantly, at once or will they compensate gradually over months?

At least, having compensation is better than totally lose your coin. However, not all compensation is completely fair for users. So if you leave your crypto on exchanges, you leave your coins and your life in hands of others. It's not good certainly.
2475  Other / Meta / Re: Old design pros on: April 21, 2022, 01:20:11 AM
The skins/ themes are always changeable from the front or backend. Some forums do allow users to choose from a set of skins, although those are rarer.

After all, a forum is just a directory of subforums. Some visual enhancements, just like any other forum users come across. The core flow remains the same.
It is not too difficult to have options for UI such as Classic / Modern. Classic is the current UI we have in this forum. Modern is the new one for Epochtalk ie. However, you forgot an important point that many things related to the new forum software with which many new features will be integrated into a modern forum. It possibly brings some troubles to switch between Classic and Modern UI and at the same time still well maintains new features.
2476  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where does this merit comes from ? But how’s that possible ? Random Thoughts.… on: April 21, 2022, 01:16:29 AM
can i get a new rank without a merit

A Copper membership will give you the perks of a member rank while still being a newbie, so I recommend purchasing it if you wish to post images in your posts.
You read it right. The copper membership is not a rank. It's just a type of membership (for now, the forum only have 1 membership that is Copper) which brings some permissions /benefits that are almost similar to the member rank.

So answer for the question of Rebons is: You only are able to ranked up if you meet required number of merit for each rank on the forum. If Rebons have yet known about it, let's spend a few minutes for reading
2477  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: 3 Applications of AI & Machine Learning in Cryptocurrency Trading and Investing on: April 21, 2022, 01:07:09 AM
AI and Machine Learning can be useful for trading, especially bot trading. Because you can code and do back test on TradingView ie. then apply it in the market.

With investment, it is more related to project's fundamentals so AI or Machine Learning is not necessary. It requires different approach than trading and it's clearly that investors should have different traits than traders.

Generally investors usually have a happier life, less stress than traders and they have more free time to enjoy their own lives.
2478  Other / Meta / Re: Old design pros on: April 20, 2022, 02:16:58 AM
Although most want us to finally get a new forum given how long it has been since it was announced that they are working on it, I do not believe that the new forum will have an impact on the quality of content and the improvements that would go in that direction.
It takes longer time than expected but theymos said 2 years ago that the new forum software is mostly finished. Just a bit more improvement and testing as well as data transition. The most important part is data transition and testing of the new forum software.

I know there are months forum members were hyped with new forum software set up and testing but in latest months (~ more than 1 year), it is almost disappeared. I am not sure why but it does not help for a launch of the new forum software.

Quote
New generations are looking for something modern, with countless options of which they will not use even 10%, and if someone says they will not use the forum because they do not have a mobile view or it does not look like FB or some other social network - then it is clear that they are not here because they want to learn something or share experiences, but for some other reasons.
I totally agree. The most importance is why they joined the forum and what they are looking for in the forum. UI is just a bit minus or plus point among other factors.

Honestly, I visited some testing forums based on a new forum software and I don't like its UI. I am not sure how do old forum members feel about it? Have you ever visited such testing forums? If yes, what do you feel?
2479  Other / Meta / Re: Need Help Aligning Images Horizontally on: April 20, 2022, 01:58:18 AM
Also, the simple way is just order the images without any additional tags.

Make sure that the size of the images is proportion or the same, put a space if necessary and next line/enter if you want the images show below or above. If you want to show them center then just put the images in the "center" tag

Code:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img] [img]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img]

This approach only works well if image size is similar (almost). If image sizes are different, then you will have unaligned rows because basically it is not set up as a table. With a table format, you will have all align in row and column, no matter what size of images.

Additional parameters should be included into your approach, with both width and height parameters. Something like
Code:
[img width=300 height=200]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img] [img width=300 heigth=200]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img]

Else, in case image sizes are different, you will get something like below

Code:
[img width=200 height=100]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img] [img width=200 height=100]https://i.imgur.com/W9hbTRV.png[/img]
2480  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Could there be a line of similarity or difference between trading and investing? on: April 20, 2022, 01:48:10 AM
I still can remember one saying that there's a thin line in similarly in terms of the aim in both but,  between a very big difference exists.
There are similarities between trading and investment  Cheesy
  • Purposes: get profit. Whatever methods or strategies you use for trading or investment, your final purpose you aim it is profit
  • Net result: The most common net result is loss. Because in the market (not only in crypto market), the Pareto principle still works so you can imagine that there are 80% losers and only about 20% of traders or investors are winners
  • Emotional effects: Both trading and investment can be seriously affected by emotion

Fortunately, if you have a good strategy and accurate method to filter potential good projects, you will reduce risk of loss and also reduce emotional effects for your investment. So in my opinion, investment is better than trading!
