Many risks when you store your coins or tokens directly on a centralized exchange

1543  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges charging for inactive accounts . Do you support this ? on: November 08, 2022, 11:26:11 AM
There is a new practice among crypto exchanges to charge its users if they are inactive on the exchange.
They even can write in their ToS that they have full rights to close your account and seize money in it. If I recalled correctly, in the past Poloniex had that point in their ToS.

Disagree or not, if you did not read their ToS or search in FAQs, it means you agree with their terms which will be applied on your account.

29. UNCLAIMED PROPERTY

If Poloniex is unable to return your Tokens to a third party Account for you after a period of inactivity, Poloniex may report and remit the Tokens to an applicable government agency pursuant to applicable escheatment or unclaimed property laws.

1545  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: November 06, 2022, 11:41:38 AM
Manchester City are now 1 point ahead of Arsenal. And so Arsenal must beat Chelsea if they want to regain the top spot in the points table. Chelsea's performance this season is not good. They have drawn two and lost one in their last three matches. Arsenal on the other hand are in their best form. More importantly, Arsenal are in good form and Chelsea's players are not playing well.
Manchester City played first and won so they created huge pressure on Arsenal today. Chelsea is not easy to beat and with this huge pressure, Arsenal will have a doubling challenge in the match. It's repeatedly discussed about Arsenal's improvement in their performance and mentality. If they can pass through this pressure and win against Chelsea, they should be recognized as a very strong team in this season and should be considered as one of the best candidates for Premier League trophy, together with Manchester City.

The presence of Aubameyang has not been able to increase Chelsea's attack power, Aubameyang, who was brought in from Barcelona, has not been able to show his best performance. So far Aubameyang has only scored three goals in 11 appearances. From the line up between the two teams, Chelsea and Arsenal both lowered their best squad.
It is in theory only. In reality Aubameyang did not create too big effect in Chelsea. I have to say Aubameyang time is coming to the end just like other players in his generation. The surprising revival of his career in Barcelona is like one of his last bright shows before his retirement.

Though his performance is not too good after returning to Premier League, this clash is an emotional one for him and Arsenal fans. This is the first time he plays against Arsenal in a jersey of another Premier League club.

This is very informative thread and deserves a small bump to stay on the front page.
I much appreciate your support. It's kinda recognition for my effort put into this topic Wink

Quote
I always say, it is better to revive old threads than to create new ones on the same topic.
Actually, people can create new topics about same issues but ONLY IF
  • Past topics were locked, inactive and can not be updated as OP left the forum, dead, permanently banned etc.
  • That member actually believe his / her new topic is better than old and available one.

Honestly, mostly we witness the first IF but we don't witness the second IF. Similarly in scientific research, if a researcher can not make a new research to answer and solve an issue better than other researchers with published researches, don't try to make a new one.

In addition, to know that there are available topics about one issue, let's use [Guide] Searching effectively
1547  Other / Meta / Re: Cryptocurrency Casinos Are Ruling The Signature Campaign Here In Bitcointalk on: November 06, 2022, 11:25:47 AM
mixer, all the other signature campaigns are Crypto casino based, some are still for many years this is big proof that the Crypto casino industry is booming and the ICOs days are over
There are still active ICOs nowadays but they are less common but not over yet. Additionally, we have derivatives or upgrades from ICOs, IEOs, IDOs, etc. and we will see more terms in future. Scammers are good to upgrade their terms and create new trends.

About gambling, you can explain it with possible factors
  • Cryptocurrencies are used popularly in online gambling because they are fast, transparent, verifiable (Provably fair) and cheap for tiny transactions that are matched with tiny bet value.
  • Gambling casinos get profit from their operations so that they can keep both their companies actively and their signature campaigns running a long time.

Quote
seven years ago all the signatures you see here are all Cryptocurrency projects.
Sounds impressive but please, where did you get that information?

Quote
Will Bitcointalk become known as a gambling forum?
No, it was created as a Bitcointalk (Talk about Bitcoin) forum and will be like this in future. Gambling is only one of boards in the forum, just like Altcoins board.

Quote
Will the days of the altcoins signature campaign return in the future?
They are still existing but mostly in Bounties board. Very less altcoin projects run their advertisements in signature campaigns which are paid in BTC

Lastly, I disagree with you. Gambling casinos are not ruling in the forum. They are majority of active signature campaigns but have to obey forum rules and can not set up new rules.

Topic title should be changed!

Bitcointalk's important historic changes

Above is my topic, and why not consider to report important changes of the forum there. It's obviously not an official thread from the forum for collective records about it. 1549  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I’m having problem withdrawing my bitcoin can someone help me out on: November 06, 2022, 02:54:14 AM
It keeps on saying transaction failed or pending
We only can make our guess here that your issue is related to your withdrawal request from a centralized exchange.

However, I'd like to ask you for confirmation that whether it's actually your withdrawal request from a centralized exchange - if it is your case, nobody here can help you and only that exchange can help you via your support ticket. Or if it is not like that, it should be your transaction broadcast from your non-custodial wallet - if it is this case, people here can help you.

Even for a centralized Exchange/Wallet, consistent withdrawal problems like that are rare.

In case it's a scam site (since there's not enough info):
If you decided to contact their support like suggested above,
but support ask you to deposit some bitcoins before you can withdraw your coins, don't send them any.
Good warning!

It is what I tried to share and warned people years ago too
1550  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: November 06, 2022, 02:37:04 AM
We have seen Barcelona vs Almería full time game between these two teams. And between these two teams Barcelona played a very good game. Almería did not score any goal in the whole match. But in this match Barcelona scored the first goal in 48 minutes. And the next goal was again scored by Barcelona.  62 minutes. Barcelona scored 2 goals in the whole game and they won the match by 2 goals.
Barcelona controlled the whole match and destroyed Almeria. Pique has a perfect farewell match and cule gave him good recognition as well as a lot applause for him. Pique did a great decision to let Lewandowski shot the penalty. Even Lewandowski wasted it by mimicking the style of Bruno and Jorginho, Pique did try to give Lewandowski a chance to improve his total goals and get more chance to win the Pinicchi title.

The match shows that cule actually loves Pique and it is what he is deserved to have after all of his career and contribution for Barcelona. Their fans just reacted emotionally recent weeks against Pique and Busquet. Now, only Busquet is left from their golden team with tiki-taka formation.

It was a total domination by Barcelona against Almeria just as everyone expected. Almeria must have been even thankful for Barcelona not to score so many goals. It could have ended up with a really embarrassing score for them instead of only 2-0. Lewandowski was scoring goals for three games in the La Liga but he couldn't this time. He missed a penalty and wasted the biggest chance to score.
Barcelona had a great match but Lewandowski did not. They will have to play one more match before the halt for World Cup 2022. With this big tournament in the air, it is hard to see highest performance from star players like Lewandowski because they have to carefully play and avoid injuries.

Quote
Now they are waiting for Real Madrid to play their game against Vallecano. Barcelona will hope for them to lose points again in an easy game. But I don't think it will happen this time.
If Barcelona win La Liga, will Pique has a champions badge? I don't know about rules of La Liga for it but I guess Pique will be eligible for that badge if Barcelona becomes a champions at the end of this season.

The most surprising thing from Barcelona with me, is their defense in this season. After 13 matches, they only have 4 conceded goals that is an unbelievable stats for their defense which used to be considered as weak.

1551  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin vs. Altcoins – projected Marketcap on: November 06, 2022, 02:25:51 AM
  • Circulating supply:
    • Infinite supply:
Some coins don’t have a caped supply at all and there will be issued more coins constantly.
For such coins, we need to look up properly how many of them will be in circulation at some point of time because such coins are at risk of MASSIVE INFLATION.
Altcoins have many risks and one of them is minting from thin air. Their developer teams can mint new flow of token if they want to use the Mint function. They can mint it to resolve the case of hacks, blockchain compromises or to benefit themselves and make investors poorer.

The risk is we don't know what they will do with that Mint function. If anyone has yet known about the risk, do a research about Terra $LUNA that is rebranded to Terra Classic $LUNC.

Bitcoin has yet been dead after many death calls in its history. I shared some similar point of view in my previous topics.

To wipe out the fear of Bitcoin death, people should read an article "The bullish case for Bitcoin"; in short term pay attention on the Fear and Greed Index chart; and look at past records for Bitcoin entry / exit profitability.

I think you can try looking at [List] Bitcoin Payment Processors.

Payment processors will make your work more easily but with service fee if you use hosted payment processors. Fortunately, if you use self-hosted payment processors, no service fee.  Smiley
1554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: can sending smerit be cancelled? on: November 04, 2022, 12:02:08 PM
But generally speaking, if I send you 10 merit and tell you "I sent 10 merit to you and now I don't have any smerit. Can you please send me 5 merit?", it would be still merit exchange.
Merit exchange is not rarely seen on the forum.

Assumption:

You can apply to be a merit source and get attraction of other users who will naturally or shadily exchange merit with you. It's hard or easy to judge a merit exchange based on how quality that merited posts are and the frequency of backscratching between two users or between a merit source and their local users.

If the merited posts are not too good quality but still receiving merits, and the frequency is high, that is merit exchange.
If the merited posts are good in quality, it is good to not consider it as merit exchange.

My motto is "Your total earned merit does not tell others who you are and your qualitative contribution, but your post quality does."
1555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How CEXs work? on: November 04, 2022, 10:37:49 AM
1. Do a CEX create a new BTC wallet for every client and keeps the keys with them?
Centralized exchanges create wallets for their clients and they have private keys of client's wallets. That means they give you custodial wallets, not non-custodial wallets that are better ones.

Quote
Or there is one wallet for the BTC/USDT pair?
No, if there is such separate wallet for each trading pair, exchanges (centralized) will have to create so many wallets for their users because there are so many trading pairs for BTC, btc to stable coins, btc to altcoins. That will increase their cost to maintain wallets, consolidate inputs, proceed withdrawals and more technical things.

Quote
2. What exactly happens when you buy/sell BTC? Where that BTC goes actually?
After you create your account, click on get an address, they will create a wallet and an address for you in Funding account. Then when you want to trade, you must move your fund to Spot or Trading account. The procedure from Funding to Spot/ Trading account (their names can be different by exchanges) is almost similar over exchanges.

The amount you trade (buy or sell) is just a number that is credited by an exchange to your account. Only when you make a withdrawal request, they will approve it and broadcast that transaction for you from their 'hot wallet'. If you pay attention, you will see transactions broadcasted by exchanges usually have so many inputs. Those inputs are not from your deposit transactions but also from other users too.

Quote
3. How they know who has what amount of BTC?
They credit that wallet, that address and the trading amount to your account, so they have full access to your trading history.

1556  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2022/23 | Group Stages on: November 04, 2022, 02:32:32 AM
I had Man Utd to win, thanks to David Gea for saving the for me, I really just went with my guts and I was prompted by the odds too I'm not gonna lie because I felt the 2 Odds was really just valuable to me.
Without De Gea, Manchester United should lose the match. Anyway, 3 points and one goal are not enough for them to get the first position in that group. So they will have to play against a club which was relegated from Champions League. This potentially brings a tougher opponent to Manchester United.

Ronaldo did have an effortful match and had an assist to Garnacho who scored his first goal for Manchester United after 7 matches for the club. Interesting to know when Ronaldo has a first match for United in 2003, Garnacho were not born. After scoring the goal, he celebrated it as same as Ronaldo's celebration style recently.

Ten Hag tried to send Marguie in last few minutes and let him play at the striker position to try another goal but failed.

UEFA Europa League knockout round play-off draw: What is it? Where to watch it? Who are the teams?

Quote
There are 16 teams in the draw: the eight runners-up from the Europa League group stage will be seeded; the eight third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage will be unseeded.

Seeded teams
Manchester United (ENG)
Midtjylland (DEN)
Monaco (FRA)
Nantes (FRA)
PSV Eindhoven (NED)
Rennes (FRA)
Roma (ITA)
Union Berlin (GER)

Unseeded teams
Ajax (NED)
Barcelona (ESP)
Juventus (ITA)
Leverkusen (GER)
Salzburg (AUT)
Sevilla (ESP)
Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)
Sporting CP (POR)

There is no club from England in the Unseed team list, so Manchester United will have risk to meet one of clubs including: Barcelona, Juventus, Leverkusen and Sevilla (they are strongest clubs in this list personally).

There are some resources I can share

If you love educational videos, you can watch them on Youtube channels

Make sure you download legit Bitcoin wallets - but don't forget to verify wallet before storing your bitcoin in it. In addition, make sure what you buy is real Bitcoin, not Bitcoin forks, not Bitcoin Testnet.

I'm trying to learn to send Merit for the first time. I originally wanted to send 1 merit. but instead I made the mistake of sending 11 Merits. can I cancel the delivery of the Merit? and how to do it?

Thank you
Click on Merit button, you will see the given warning information like this

Quote
You have received a total of 22 merit. This is what determines your forum rank. You typically cannot lose this merit. You have 11 sendable merit (sMerit) which you can send to other people. There is no point in hoarding sMerit; keeping it yourself does not benefit you, and we reserve the right to decay unused sMerit in the future.

At the bottom, you will see the warning!
Quote
This cannot be undone!

Unfortunately, I checked and saw you just sent 11 smerit. It means now you have 0 smerit to send out.

If you want to learn more about the merit system and how to use your sendable merit (sMerit), please read
1559  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading pair not found on Tradingview, how to add it? on: November 03, 2022, 07:30:06 AM
I can't check because you didn't mention the token, but probably try DexScreener? If you haven't tried it yet: https://dexscreener.com/
Besides DexScreener, there are alternatives like
Previously, Coinmarketcap used dextools.io for token data but now they use their own one: DexScan.

These sites are cool because they not only provide trading charts but also give us liquidity pool information which is very useful for tokens that are available for trading on decentralized exchanges.
1560  Other / Meta / Re: We should have a "who is satoshi" subforum on: November 03, 2022, 07:22:19 AM
Unofficially, we have this one: I gathered every Satoshi Nakamoto thread.

If you see any new topics about this, please leave a link to that topic, the OP might consider to update it.

I don't see reason to have another collective topic about that or a new sub-forum / child-board (more accurately) for that.

My suggestion, if you want, you can classify collective topics into different categories such as real identity, satoshi's bitcoins, satoshi's opinion, etc.

Look at Beginners & Help Encyclopedia for more ideas. By the approach, you can rename the topic of BlackHatCoiner to "Satoshi Nakamoto-related Encylopedia"
