1501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could 17.5k BTC actually be 13-14k pre-inflation? on: November 20, 2022, 03:31:49 PM
Bitcoin price is very cheaper than its all time high. If anyone dreamed to see this price under $20,000 a few months ago, now they have it and should take it.

I think Bitcoin is gradually forming its bottom but it will need more months to pass through some necessary phases of psychology of market before a new bull run can be started. We have yet reached to Capitulation and Anger phases and before an ending of Anger phase, we should have another terrible dump which is a last test. That dump should be similar to what we saw in March 2020.

1502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FIFA World Cup 2022: Tournament Discussion Thread for Qatar 2022 on: November 20, 2022, 10:03:25 AM
I also predicted that Qatar will wins their opening match. England and Senegal will also win their matches, Croatia will also win their match with Morocco. Why Qatar will win their first leg is that, they have strong defense their midfielders are also good. All the rest predictions you made are very good.
From your predictions, all stronger teams will win, that is unrealistic.

In addition, you should know one more fact, host teams of World Cups usually don't win in opening matches. Let me share historic records about that.

It is true for Defending champion era (1974–2002) and Host country era (2006 - 2018) in general. Personally I can explain it like this, teams are champions or from hosting countries will start World Cups with very high expectation from fans that bring a lot of pressure on their players. Usually, they were not able to play at their best capacity.

1503  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: major strategies for trading cryptocurrency on: November 20, 2022, 09:50:57 AM
DCA (Dollar Cost Averaging
DCA is more matched with long term investment, not with trading.

Two important reasons that DCA is not good for trading
  • Most of traders use all their capital for trading. Consequently, if they have bad entries, they no longer have another capital (reserved one) for DCA
  • DCA is good for Bitcoin but for altcoins, it is not too good. Most of altcoins lose their prices about -90% from their all time highs. So what do you plan to DCA with altcoins? The more you DCA, the more risk you are taking more loses. Even if you DCA around bottom, you might exit when you lose your patience and feel angry with market.

1504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will CBDCs will impact Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2022, 09:46:22 AM
CBDCs are still fiat currencies that are made digital. They're not much different from the fiat that we use through fiat online wallets. It's just that there's no more hard cash representing them. They remain centralized because they're still issued by governments' central banks. They are still subject to the same inflationary mechanism. They're still continuously devalued. They're still under the control and decision of a few powerful individuals. The disadvantage, however, is that they're more easily tracked, monitored, frozen, seized, confiscated.
I believe CBDCs are worst than fiat currencies in terms of inflation. There are less production cost for CBDCs than fiat currencies. Much less infrastructures for minting, maintenance and so on. Governments can mint $T in one click when they want to do this without prerequisite to have paper, polymer, print, printing machines, human resources etc. This brings convenience to governments that in turn will make their inflationary management worse.

Quote
The point is it doesn't actually compete against Bitcoin.
CBDCs will never compete directly with Bitcoin. What they compete is usage demand from their citizens by choosing either fiat currencies or CBDCs.
1505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: What happens if binance and tether goes down on: November 20, 2022, 09:41:52 AM
Bitcoin created first or Binance exchange created first? and if I remember correctly, binance has only been around since 2017 and before that we also had many other centralized exchanges. All of them have a lifespan and are always replaced by other exchanges from time to time. So there is no reason that when binance dies the cryptocurrency will also disappear, but if bitcoin dies there is a high probability that the market and exchanges will be gone.

Binance or tether or any other company or project is just a part of this market, so without them there would be another product to replace them.
Exchanges come and go but we can not deny that if Binance collapse like FTX, its impact should be bigger because they are a bigger exchange than FTX. Their chain, Binance Smart Chain is bigger than Solana too.

Unless their report - Our Commitment To Transparency - is cooked, their finance management is good and healthy. According to this, they did not use customer money inappropriately and did not take too high risk like FTX.

Tether is a biggest stable coin and its impact (if it collapse) would be bigger than UST impact in May 2020.

Whatever happen with Binance and USDT in future, I am sure governments will launch more laws and execute more strictly regulations on cryptocurrency and blockchain. For future, it is good, not bad.

1507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will CBDCs will impact Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2022, 02:44:21 PM
Fiat is not completely anonymous but it can still be anonymous, just like criminals use fiat to launder money and do their evil deeds without being detected by the police. But if we get rid of fiat completely and replace it with CBDC, things can be very different because the government can control everything even our smallest actions.

But it is true that CBDC cannot affect bitcoin because in my opinion bitcoin is not a currency but an asset more like gold, but regulation will affect bitcoin.
Both fiat currencies and CBDCs are traceable but with CBDCs and blockchain technology, governments can have more easily to do their works.

With fiat currencies, in countries with good laws and regulations, their governments can have enough data to trace flow of your money and can more easily to detect money laundering. This is a good example on how regulations can contribute to help society better.

After the Terra and FTX collapses and some related entities, I believe more regulations will be executed soon but it is good for cryptocurrency and blockchain ecosystems in future.
1508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: November 19, 2022, 12:03:55 PM
Well, this is a very good thing to do especially in predictions but indeed when looking at the predictions for Brazil I agree but it's still a little difficult to see France being there Cheesy
In fact, there is nothing wrong, but indeed by looking at the current condition of France, I was actually a little skeptical of France, especially by looking at their matches in the last few trials.
Belgium again  Grin

They were considered as one of best candidates to win World Cup and Euro with this player generation. They failed in previous tournaments and in this World Cup, they will not have best versions of Hazard and Lukaku. How will they be able to win it?

I have more belief in Argentina and Brazil but unfortunately, they won't be able to meet each other in the final match.

The prediction above looks real and it is likely what may play out. The only place I have doubt is Belgium team going to final. Belgium was good in the past when hazard, Lukaku and Kevin were all playing in good form. Itt is only Kevin that is still in good form the other two have lost their form. Although there are other young players in the team that can carry the team along players like Troosard and Tielemans
I don't have good feeling about France and Belgium but in Germany I have it. Belgium will have their last chance (likely) to win a big title with this generation but I guess it is a little bit late for them already. Hazard nowadays even should not appear in their squad. A few seasons in Bernabeu destroys a best of Hazard and it is a myth story if we look back at the past, how amazing he played in Chelsea.

Will we have a final match between Argentina vs Germany or Brazil vs Germany?
1509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin can be centralised or decentralised on: November 19, 2022, 11:52:41 AM
If Bitcoin is preferably kept in Centralised exchange i think it is no longer decentralised to the owner because the don't have the keys to unlock and spend their coin but rather the rely on this third party intermediaries who decide how much the are eligible to transfer depending on their KYC verification level.
KYC is another issue but the most important factor is "Not your keys, not your coins" with or without KYC, it is always true.

Quote
I believe private keys is what makes every Bitcoin owner decentralised not just the coin itself
Decentralized is a term to mention about Bitcoin network, not a Bitcoin wallet or a Bitcoin owner. With wallet, we have custodial and non-custodial wallets.

Quote
The fear of misplacing seed phrase and private keys is still a big concern to many who believe they are careless with storing and keeping important datas.
If they use a non-custodial wallet to store their Bitcoin, they must know what they are doing, how to do it safely and correctly. They must learn to get knowledge about it and practice makes perfect.

1510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will CBDCs will impact Bitcoin? on: November 19, 2022, 11:43:31 AM
CBDCs are coming, and they spell the end of the Private monetary policy as we know it. The list of countries adopting CBDCs is growing at a fast pace:
You can follow that website, CBDCtracker.org and get more updates and more details about countries that already launched or might launch their CBDCs. There are some main categories: Cancelled, Research, Proof of concept, Pilot, Launched on that website.

Quote
Governments have already understood the sheer potential of the Blockchain to impose Total monetary control.

So, how do you guys think will affect Bitcoin?
You are asking about a story between an egg and a chicken. There would be no Bitcoin if there are no fiat currencies and centralization, inflation from them. There would be no CBDCs if there is no Bitcoin.

All of cryptocurrency types will co-exist and they will interact with each other, support each other, compete with other in order to upgrade themselves better and bring more convenience to human.

1512  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: List of useful Bitcoin block explorers on: November 18, 2022, 02:02:46 PM
e.g. when and in which epoch exactly the respective block has been mined ... the whole tool is called 'timechain calender'
for me personally a nice tool to 'play' something in the already long block past Wink

Nice UI that is mobile friendly too, I like it.

I more like one information - Next Diff Adj (Next Difficulty Adjustment). It is useful to get an estimation for next adjustment on network difficulty especially if it is congested and miners shutdown their ASICs massively by whatever reasons (serious temporary loses or floods, catastrophes, bans on mining etc.)

I know other Bitcoin block explorers have that information too but for the one you shared, it is what I like most.
1513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: November 18, 2022, 01:44:51 PM
In general, there is no guarantee for any country to get the World Cup trophy easily this year, but considering that players are better in certain countries such as Argentina, there is clearly a chance and it will be better if Argentina is in the calculation to get a trophy. World Cup. Because remembering that Argentina still has Messi who still wants to make his country proud of him if he is able to bring Argentina to the world cup trophy.
Nobody calls World Cup is an easy tournament and consider it is easy to win. It is a very tough tournament and is only hosted every four years (if no special reasons to skip it like World Wars). Career of player is too short and each player does not have too many opportunity to participate in World Cup. So far, a record for players who played in most World Cup tournaments is only 5 and very few players reached to that record.

It means being a champion in World Cup is a dream for all players and they need to play at 100% energy as well as need luckiness to win it.

Quote
If Argentina is indeed able to make its fans happy and proud because they have the opportunity to get the world cup before Messi retires, that is precisely very good for Argentina, but this is still uncertain because several other countries also have more players in very good condition to play in the world cup this year.
Honestly, I agree that Messi is deserved to win one World Cup for his career but Argentina should not begin this World Cup 2022 with that pressure. Pressure only makes things worse than usual and Messi, Argentina should avoid it. They should only play and enjoy each match, avoid injuries and see how far they can move.
1514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I clean them up myself? on: November 18, 2022, 01:34:34 PM
I wish users can delete their own posts themselves.
do you mean thread/s? because members can delete their own posts except for the thread/s that they created.
To clear it up for OP

  • Posts can be deleted by users. No need to have forum admins' or moderators' help
  • Threads (topics) can not be deleted by users. Some solutions are
    • Sending a request to forum staffs (only if you have solid reasons for your privacy, security), they might (or might not) approve your request and delete it for you. Chance to get acceptance is very small.
    • Deleting OP content by yourself. Delete it all, replace by either "deleted" or "..." or whatever non-sense, but remember that thread, that opening post is still there.

Above all, there are scrapers to archive your post or thread so even if admins delete it on the forum for you, it won't completely be erased on the Internet.

Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ. If you are not satisfied with my answer, please use "delete" keyword and search in that topic, you will get more clarifications.
1515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Balances on Exchanges - Sudden rise in the balance of Binance on: November 18, 2022, 01:25:35 PM
It means that Binance had a ton of coins scattered across a ton of wallets, and have now been consolidating them down into a few known ones.
Exchanges regularly consolidate their small inputs from users and from leftovers in change address after processing user withdrawal requests. This time, Binance chose a 'right' time to consolidate their inputs massively.  Roll Eyes

Fortunately, no domino effects to spam mempool more and it has been cleaned up gradually recent days. We also are going towards this weekend which should reduce mempool a little bit more.

In the past, spamming mempool and cause more expensive transaction fee on newbie users is one of ways to make they get panic. With Segwit adoption in past 2 years, now it is harder to make Bitcoin network congested.

1516  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchanges or platforms with too good offers. Be careful on: November 17, 2022, 03:24:54 AM
just like you, I am attracted to using FTX because they cover part of the fees for erc20 transactions and it really helps me. Moreover, they also have very low btc withdrawal fees.
It is their attractive hook to retailed users but when they go bankruptcy, they will make compensation partially for top investors, biggest users first. It's not fair and people should know that.

One more thing I did not like FTX months ago, is their Wash trading that is not a signal of a good and top exchange. When I experienced it, I did neither trade nor store big capital on FTX, honestly. Fortunately, it is how I avoided this bloody collapse.

Although some of them is not quite bad after all since they really deliver, but its just we should always put our minds that however trusted they are and how big the platform it is chances that FTX scandal may still happen on one of them. So better listen to people telling that don't save your money on exchange/platforms to avoid losing it better to save our funds on our hardware wallets to be more secured.
We can enjoy good offers from big exchanges, not from new ones. First, new exchanges can give you very high bonus, very attractive offers but we don't know will they disappear after a few weeks or months of operation. Second, about big exchanges, such as FTX, no guarantee for future. So take risk, take opportunities, enjoy it and exit as soon as possible.

new investors will certainly be attracted by the big prize offers. instead of getting a lot of benefits, but in the end you have to let the assets just disappear.
Even plebs can do the same mistakes like newbies. Because human instinct is unchanged and majority of the crowd can not control their greed and bad human instinct.
1517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is spamming mempool on: November 17, 2022, 02:56:22 AM
I believe that the image is actually showing the Minimum Withdrawal amount, not the Withdrawal fee, which on the Bitcoin network is 0.0002 BTCs (3,39 $).
Good finding and previously I did not notice it too. Just thought the last information in the table is for Withdrawal fee for both horizontal and vertical views!

If you use mobile and see it horizontally or vertically, you will have different tables with different formats and details. I can confirm by making screenshots below.

Binance did not change their withdrawal fee for both Legacy and Segwit addresses but their spam on mempool in this period is suspicious.

Just want to point out I'm not paranoid about anything, because I don't store a single satoshi of my money on a centralized exchange. Every exchange in the world can go bankrupt if they want - my bitcoin will be just fine. Smiley
They can go with a hack and an exit that can be a scam exit too. In the past, many exchanges were hacked and shut down a few months later. From Cryptopia to Livecoin exchanges (more definitely).

More information about exchange hacks and exchange graveyard. I want to share a proactive warning  Smiley

1518  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I hope it's finally over for CEXs on: November 16, 2022, 02:34:29 PM
Few decentralised trading exchanges like Posi and Serum are surging in price, it seems people are now moving their funds to start using decentralised exchanges, what's your take on this?
It is a hype on decentralized exchanges during this chaos but things must be noted. Decentralized exchanges we have now are not truly decentralized and people are getting hyped on DEX without that awareness.

Quote
Have centralised exchanges finally ruined their own reputation and people are tried of their games? I doubt this happened in the past when mt.gox faced the same fate, I really hope that's what happening presently.

I hope it's finally over for centralised exchanges
It's not an ending for CEX. The story and fighting between CEX and DEX is like between fiat currency and cryptocurrency. They will both survive and exist together and they are supplements for the another to be improved and grew up.

If you like Bitcoin, you will say Bitcoin will replace fiat currency in future, but it is not true. The opposite if you are fiat currency supporter, you will say Bitcoin will die in future. Same support and opposition for CEX and DEX.
1519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool if full, but what does that actually mean? on: November 16, 2022, 02:20:11 PM
Here is a good site to visualize this: https://statoshi.info/d/000000020/memory-pool?orgId=1&from=now-2d&to=now
The green line in the top graph shows the total transaction size, while the white line in the middle graph shows the memory usage of those transactions.
Thank you so much for the explanation and the website which is bookmarked by me today.

Fortunately, there will be no real race here like in other times of congestion.
The actual capacity of the blockchain right now is over the daily transactions input, unlike the last event where we had more transactions each day and older ones despite paying higher than the averge at that time would be pushed at the bottom.
It is different than past congestion especially times when fee races are crazy with fee rate from 80 to 100 satoshi/ vbyte in 2020 or 400 satoshis/ vbyte in 2018.

Quote
Right now you just have to outbid Binance 13.5/sat and you will get a confirmation just as you would with 1 sat last week, some will panic and pay more but there are not enough of them to outbid you and leave you outside the blocks for more than a few hours.

You just have to pay 14sat instead of 1sat/b, 50 cents is not the end of the world if you're in a hurry.
I know but it is still more expensive than usual. It is still bad for people who don't know about bumping fee with Replace-by-Fee or Child-Pay-For-Parents.

After two days, it has been reduced a little bit in mempool but will Binance spam it again after increase their withdrawal fee on users.

In addition, people can wait for weekends to enjoy cheaper fee rates.

1520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance is spamming mempool on: November 16, 2022, 03:14:14 AM
Oh ok, that's why I was surprised yesterday that when I try to withdraw using my Electrum, I'm getting errors message that I need to upgrade or increased my fees
If you use Electrum, you will never have to make any withdrawal which is more relevant to exchanges. On exchanges, you will have to submit your withdrawal request, wait for their approval before they proceed it for you.

With Electrum that is a SPV wallet but non custodial, you simply broadcast your transaction to Bitcoin network, with fee rate is chosen by yourself. You don't need approval from Electrum wallet but have to get confirmations from miners.
