2641  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive SpondooliesTech SP20 Setup [HD] on: January 24, 2015, 07:21:04 AM
As far as I can tell, myminer.io is a local service hosted by your miners - so if you can't connect then they may not be connected to your network. Sometimes you'll see a fragment or old version of the page when no devices are connected. How are they connected now?

yeah .. hosted by your miners ..  and you reviewed how many SP-Tech products?

I didn't describe it well.... there is a component of that site which appears to be a local service. Hence the ability to get fragments from crashed units (if they're the last ones) still showing. If it was entirely remote then surely they wouldn't show up.

Please consider filling out a quick survey about my guides to help improve them! You'll be entered into a raffle to win 2x $20 vouchers as a thank you.

2642  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Modify S5 Antminer to watercooling on: January 24, 2015, 07:17:36 AM
Will bitmain do some ??  Grin
I don't think so,but you could ask Dogie.

So I am confused.  Is Bitmain on board with this or do we have to lobby them to sell us what we need?

Good question, guess when we see on their site that you can order the boards by themselves with the accessories, we'll know for sure.

Bitmain should sell a watercooled BM1384. I pledge to buy for 3T/s if they sell one.

Unofficial for now, and no kits at this second. Have passed it on though so its a maybesoon TM Tongue
2643  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S5 Setup [HD] on: January 24, 2015, 07:12:20 AM
To power your new S5 which PSU or PSU's would you use? Why?

Single HX850W? Single HX750W? Single CX750M? Or twin CX600s or twin CX500Ms?

Likely overclock in the future. All PSU's are Corsairs.

thanks all

Single CX750M is the best buy for EU, EVGA 1300W for the US. I would have said the RM1000 if S5s had been just a bit lower power consumption as those things are amazing, but alas its just a bit too much for 2x on an RM1000.

What? I've got a number of Corsair PSU's, looking for reco on what to use out of what I have.

1x HX850 or 1x HX750 Corsairs? Have 3x CX750Ms, believe one will run the C5. Be safe and run two? Or is the completely contrary to power conservation?
Run twin CX600s?

thanks!

Any of them alone will run 1x S5 fine, although you'll need to pair up the CX500Ms to run 1x S5.

I'm having issues with the wifi. I have the router right next to the miner. It gets 60% signal. But sometimes it drops the signal when mining and start beeping.

And sometimes it sees the networks but fails to connect. Any idea why this is happening? is it because there is no Antenna despite the 60% signal strength?

Can I use the antenna from an old laptop? The connection looks the same.

There seems to be a new firmware dated January 2015 on the BITMAIN website. Anybody tried that firmware?

The s3's antennae connection is quite small, are you sure its the same as your laptops? Can't hurt to give it a try. Lay the antennae so it comes out the little notch the fan's cable sits in, so you can plug in to the controller board but still keep the antennae external.

01/19 disables voltage control on S3s as not all S3s have variable voltage control. Not everyone wants that though, so users currently using 12/19 and 01/19.

Yes the seller finally got back to my with the password and I am greatful because the webui and ssh BOTH didn't work without the password. The units would of been garbage.

And yes I am on Oct 24th firmware. Any benefits to upgrading in terms of power consumption, or hash speed?

As aarons6 said, 12/19 onwards fixes the reset button's functionality. While it won't give you greater hashing power, it is an important bug fix which will give you another layer of protection from bricked units. The last thing you want is an inaccessible unit without the reset button working. 12/19 download link can be found below if you want that one, although there is a newer version on Bitmaintech.com.

Can I get some beta testers for a new S3 firmware please? Download link is here, it *should* be good to go but as you know....

Rolls back to the last good patch in Oct (1024), but fixes voltage adjustment and the important reset button. Hopefully.... let me know.

Short question regarding alternative power supply:

I've been changing lights at my home to LEDs. I recovered 6 x AC->DC adapters (12v 60W).
Would it work if I connected each of them to one pair of PCI-e connector pins.
It gives 2 PCI-e connectors, 180W each - at least in theory Smiley

I know it would be close to MAX W needed but I intend to under-clock it anyway... so it takes +/- 200W.
In theory that sounds plausible, however, bitmain have advised against mixing / sharing power supplies, and if I get your suggestion correctly, that would indeed be a case of mixing power supplies UNLESS you intend to run each blade on 60W only (12v 5A).
Is this even possible? What is the minimum W per blade? What hash power can be expected then? Forum search is disabled so...

Going further than others: Don't bother, you're more likely to end up with 4 fried PSUs and potentially a damaged S3. Even if you could underclock sufficiently you'd still be cross loading 2 PSUs. And even if that wasn't a problem (which it is), you're running PSUs at 24/7 load which they're likely not designed to do. tldr, don't.
2647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 10 T/H's MinersLab? on: January 24, 2015, 04:20:09 AM
Has anyone got any reviews on the 10T/H unit?

Its likely not real, see the drama in the other thread. It appears they purchased a legendary account to shill with.

Yea right that it's non-profit.. I'm talking to you, banner ad!

Profiting off other's copyright, sounds familiar.

Was this aimed at me, what are you referring to?

No, badly phrased. Just that it's common.
2649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: January 24, 2015, 01:55:04 AM

does anyone know if asicminer has 'taped out' and produced masks for the be300?  ie, is it in production?

Last info was that first batch of BE300 will be done in February. They must be in production now.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=833704.msg9678661#msg9678661

thanks... its not quite the same thing.  do we know who amhash is?  do they represent friedcat or are they a customer?   all we know is that someone (who wasn't friedcat) said in november they would have chips back in feb.  but until we hear it from the horses mouth or from someone definitely representing him, then i don't think we know for certain that they've taped out and will definitely have the chips back in feb.  or whenever.   all we know is they continue to test the samples, but the samples aren't from a production batch and are independent from that.

If you read relevant threads, you'd see answers to your questions.

thats cryptic and not exactly helpful.  have you seen a tapeout announcement or friedcat recently stating availability of production chips?

Tldr AMHash = ASICMiner

Which is better for 12TH. solo.antpool or p2p.antpool?
thanks.

Slap it on solo, ruin it as a normal pool for now.

What happens if you keep the backup on a ssd too and that ssd also gets corrupted?
Will this lead to the entire forum getting wiped out?

Backup drives have no need to be quick so they're probably high capacity non SSD drives in a raid 1. And because they're much larger capacity than the active SSD raid array, they can contain multiple, historical backups of the same databases. At least, that's how I'd do it on a budget. Probably some periodical backups moved elsewhere as well.

Hi,
I have 6 Antminer s4.
One of them have a problem. after 5 to 7 hours mining, stop mining without any error and i have to restart it manually. I try several times  to flash firmware but i got error during check the firmware with Antminer( connection reset) and i have to restore the miner.
sorry for english.
thanks

What firmware are you on now and what firmware are you trying to flash to? If it really doesn't work then we can get it sorted with the below method.

If your other units have upgraded correctly it might be easier to clone one of those SD cards. Make sure the good unit is set to DHCP first otherwise you'll get an IP conflict. Download SD card imager and use to make a copy of a good SD card. Then use it again to flash the created image to the bad card.

DOGIE DOES NOT WORK FOR BITMAIN, DOGIE CANNOT APPROVE WARRANTY

What he's saying is that I can't contract Bitmain to make warranty decisions, sales directly etc etc as I'm not a warranty. Which is true, I don't have legal control of these things.

Can someone look over these numbers please? I upped the frequency to 375 and the temp is still low. I checked the cables on the PSU and S5 and nothing is hot. Hell not even warm. I have everything in an unheated garage and the ambient temp is -3ºC right now. Are the HW errors, rejects, and discards normal? Can I keep boosting the frequency up until I hit a temp of 40-50ºC?

Absolutely fine, you can always ignore discards as they don't mean anything for you.
2655  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3+ Discussion and Support Thread 0.24$/G Free Ocean Shipping on: January 23, 2015, 12:23:41 PM
How do you expect to ssh in with root/root if the password was changed? If root doesn't work for the webui pass it won't work for ssh either(barring some very unusual configuration). You should upgrade the firmware as soon as you are able to login as you are most likely on the very dangerous oct 24th firmware. If you can't get the password from the seller you will have to use a TTL cable to reset/reflash it manually.

Because SSH and webui logins are entirely separate, changing the webui password has no impact on the SSH password. The entire point is that he can't log into the webui and so must use SSH access, else he will likely have to send the controller in.

The Oct 24 firmware is also NOT dangerous, its stable as hell and would be great if it didn't have broken reset button functionality.

Anyone here running 2 Antminer S3+ on one Corsair CX750?

I rather not buy a PSU for each and rather underclock the Antminer and run two of them on one PSU.

Yes that's more than enough. CX750s are sturdy as hell.

Yup sure can

Slap them on BTCGuild for a speed run. Who knows what is going on at that pool.

Some ssd drive health monitoring might help... Ssd drives deteriorate over time...
Glad you got it restored!

Depends on the controller and the age of the firmware whether you can see true SMART stats from the drives or even they're masked. My SSD's raid array (gen 1 X25-Ms) gives me goop as SMART readings which I know are false.
