2681  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hong Kong Orders Exchanges to Delist Securities Tokens on: February 10, 2018, 04:21:36 AM
It's good that the Hong Kong government is trying to crack down on this... And make a safer place for traders to trade on.

Obviously if any tokens are classified as unregulated securities then they've got to be taken down. Binance's upgrade that took ages could have been the result of all this new Hong Kong government requirements.

We still don't know what tokens they are talking about here, though.

Pretty much every single ICO token can be classified as a "security", if it represents a share of a network.
2682  Other / Meta / Re: Getting banned again and agin on: February 10, 2018, 04:04:53 AM
I am a active participants in bitcointalk. i also encourage my friends to participate this forum but last week all of sudden their account has been banned including me.
we have read all the instructions, but the content and topics are very vast we are unable to get the exact thread what we should not do
still we dont know the reason why we are blocked. honestly telling we people are joined this forum for sharing some intersting topic and discuss the same.

It would be great if you have check point where the new users should pass before posting or commenting the forum

Clearly, this profile that you have just created was just a throwaway account.

If you're not going to state your profile links then don't even bother opening this thread, since nobody is going to be able to help you without it.

If you were banned, then it means that you have done something against the forum rules. Read over them carefully and I'm sure you'll find an entry that corresponds with your behavior.

Or if you were asked to send BTC to get your account unlocked, then just do it. There's such a thing called units of evil that you have to pay if your IP has been used previously for evil on the forum.
2683  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cloud mining - my experience on: February 10, 2018, 03:57:18 AM
Anyone in the same boat ? I decided to go with Genesis Mining last year mid August. 30 TH. Up until now I haven't reached the break even point. And my payouts dropped dramatically after diffculty increased a lot this year. I estimate that it will take at least 1-2 more month till I reach the break even. But I just asked myself how much btc I will get out of this contract then till difficulty is so high that Genesis will cancel the contract. Any idea how to calculate this?

Yep. When difficulty goes up and prices go down, that's when genesis mining contracts just stop paying out.

Usually, in the first 1-2 months you'll receive ok-ish payouts. If those sort of payouts continue then you think that you could get a ROI and then go into profits within 6-7 months. But then after a few months the payouts will drop to almost nothing.

At the end, you could be looking at a terminated cloud mining contract because your payouts can't even be used to pay maintenance fees anymore. This is why we here tend to shy away from cloud mining and advise others to do so as well.
2684  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [CEX.IO] Keeping your money/bitcoin hostage since whenever. on: February 09, 2018, 10:05:38 PM
Right now I'm on https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/report-fraud-about-you chatting with a fraud specialist from their department about filing a fraud report for cex.io.

They've held my bitcoin hostage since the 19th of January citing some bs kyc verification and when I gave them all kyc related documents they asked for a print screen of mining operations which I'm pretty sure 80% of bitcoin traders cannot produce because they are obtained through mining alts or trading them.

So yeah ... here's a print screen if @CEX thinks I'm joking.

https://imgur.com/a/PM71v

Solve this in 24-48 hours or the complaint goes through and then you can solve it with the fraud dept of uk police. If you're gonna keep my heard earned bitcoin after hoodling for 4 years at least say it out right don't invent bs requirements and keep it in limbo pending forever.

Ticket: 485138 Userid: UP111791395

Any screenshots on what they told you to do and what they responded to you as a result?

I mean there is really nothing they can do as a company if they were a regulated businesses falling under the jurisdiction of a country which provides these ID documents. If they're asking for mining proofs then they have their reasoning, but it's a bit too harsh at least imo.

I doubt reporting them to that site will help. But at least hopefully it'll speed up their communication with you.

Cex.io has been having a lot of problems. Not a good sign.

All of our engines are back online and we are processing data validation for pre-trading at the moment.

We hope to have an updated, accurate ETA to provide shortly. Thank you again for your patience; we are in the final stages of preparing the exchange for normal operations.

Getting close to the 30th hour of the one hour maintenance. Fingers crossed this time.

Fingers crossed as well.

But this, folks, is a great example of why you should never store your funds on an exchange and use it as a wallet. Storing some of your funds on an exchange for the short term is fine, provided that you are willing to take the risks. But storing the majority of your portfolio there is just dumb.

Not only do you have a risk of getting your funds stolen/hacked, in an event of a maintenance just like Binance's current maintenance that has been going on for ages, you are prone to market fluctuation.

It is much more flexible, and safe, to store your funds in a wallet instead of exchange.
2686  Other / Meta / Re: Can I use every sendable merits in a single day or do I have limitation...? on: February 09, 2018, 09:21:01 AM
The merit system is making a big change in the entire forum activities. Along with that it is hard to give merits finding good quality posts. For this reason I've planned to go through each and every section of the forum and merit to qualified posts. In this regard is there any limitations in spending of merits for a day or any time gap to send merits. Because we have time gap for each ranked member to make posts, before that we cannot make posts.

As long as you are not abusing the system for your personal gain, then no. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot spend your entire stash of sMerits in one day, or even 1 hour. In fact it probably helps with the merit distribution.

You can merit any post that you see fit to be merited.

But keep in mind that the merit system is completely public so if you are found to be meriting shitposts(not saying that you are or will), then obviously there will be neg trust handed out.
2687  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where can I buy Ethereum with Fiat money? (Not Coinbase) on: February 09, 2018, 09:04:36 AM
I´ve been looking for a way to buy Ethereum with Fiat money and have them sent to my MEW. Coinbase doesn't work in my country. Coinmama it's taking for ever to verify.

Easiest way would be to get Bitcoin first, and then get Ethereum with your bitcoin.

For this, you pretty much have a range of options. Obviously there is localbitcoins which I'm a big fan of, but there are also fiat exchanges that you can use. Kraken, Bitstamp, etc. In fact they all have ETH listed mostly as well, so you could get your fiat deposited and then get ETH straightaway if you wanted to as well.

For the quickest trade without any verification though, go with localbitcoins. Expect 5-7% above spot price for your fiat though, which is a bummer since otherwise they are the perfect trading platform. Then go exchange that BTC to ETH on shapeshift, expect another 5% above spot price deal so in total you'll be losing out on around 10-15%. Not a great deal, but it's fast, and no verification anywhere.

Localethereum seems to work as well. Haven't tried it myself though.
2688  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Binance suspened the trading and withdrawls. Are they hacked ? on: February 09, 2018, 08:51:46 AM
There has been chaos among the users of Binance exchange as the trading and withdrawals are suspended by the exchange. They stated that "due to increasing number of users and trading volume, their system needs to upgrade", they also denied of being hacked. If they have already planned this maintenance work, then why they did not informed the users in advance ? 10-12 hours outage is too much and prior notification was required. Binance is one of largest exchange and such poor service is not expected from them. They also need to upgrade their technical team to avoid such incidents in future.

http://bitcoinist.com/crypto-exchange-binance-goes-dark-12-hour-outage-maintenance-system-upgrades/

I have few alt-coins on binance, i hope everything is fine and nothing has been lost.

A hack is a real possibility that cannot be discounted here.

I believe that for whatever reason, if any exchange wants to put a halt to trading activities then it should at least have its users notified 1 day before the scheduled maintenance happens. If they don't, not only will it mean that users are grumpy because of inability to access their funds, it also means that unnecessary speculation will come out.

And seeing that Binance usually is quite good at customer support and communication compared to other exchanges, I'm surprised at this. Since they've denied it, the chances are that they're probably not hacked, but as i said, always a possibility in these scenarios and obviously exchanges want to cover it up if it does happen.
2689  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CEX.IO SCAM !!! on: February 09, 2018, 08:40:06 AM
In December, $ 20,000 was transferred to this exchange. My bank roll confirmed that the exchange received the money. After receiving they could not transfer them to my account and decided to send back, from December 28 I received template responses from technical support, on January 18 I received a letter that my funds were sent. Money has not been received so far, all the dates indicated by the exchange have passed. Confirm that they returned the money they can not document. Since the exchange is registered in London, and the creators from Ukraine, the article for fraud will be equated and sent to England, I wait for a specific answer and confirmation within 3 days that the money has been returned to my account.

After that I will collect all complaints on this exchange and appeal to the authorities.

Cex.io has addressed this multiple times. They've said before that they're having troubles with the banking system that they are currently working with to sort out these withdrawal issues. So pretty much all pending deposits will be held up until these issues gets sorted.

They are at least until now, not a scam. Not that i'm aware of, at least.

You could either wait, or ask support whether they can reverse the bank transfer and just credit your account instead with the USD amount like they were supposed to in the beginning. Hopefully they'll do that and let you convert your USD into BTC.

2690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the real circulation of Bitcoin? on: February 09, 2018, 07:49:49 AM
The total number of supply is around 16M nowadays

Despite the lost and locked up, the real circulation is around 6-8M? Am I right?

Please advice!

Thank you very much!

This number constantly fluctuates. And there is pretty much no way to accurately measure it at the moment at least.

The thing is, bitcoin holders are only identified by its address. And obviously the contents of an address could be lost or the owner could pass away or something like that. Any one of many things could happen to cause bitcoins to be taken out of circulation.

However, it is hard to distinguish inactive bitcoins from bitcoins that are just being held in cold storage for the long term by the owner.

And with the number of people holding bitcoin on the rise, the actual amount of bitcoin in circulation is probably getting less and less, and is one of the reasons why price has been increasing as well.
2691  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Goose20 outstanding Loan on: February 09, 2018, 07:43:50 AM
Your best chance here is probably to negotiate with zazarb. Otherwise this scam accusation is probably going to go on forever.

If you can't afford repayment then just say so, instead of going on with excuses of bitcoin being too high or whatever.

Why didn't you just take out a loan fixed in USD if you didn't want to pay off the loan in BTC? Even get a cash advance from your bank/credit card if that's the case. Your deal with zazarb doesn't say anything about the loan being in USD whatsoever.

As yahoo said, speak with zazarb, see if he could offer to lock the repayment amount in fiat now, since bitcoin is quite low at the moment. Or discuss whether you could go on a payment plan without interest for a while.
2692  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Account locked for no reason on Cryptopia on: February 08, 2018, 09:03:07 AM
I tried to login to my account, however it showed my account is being locked, since I failed to login for 3 times. But seriously I only tried once and my account and password was saved automatically by the browser. I did some research on Cryptopia account lock, it turns out that many users are experiencing the same issue, and none of them got a reply from Cryptopia's response. Some of then have been waiting for a month.
Anyone here has the same problems? or any idea what can we do to protect our asset?

Firstly, you should have never stored more than 10% of your portfolio on cryptopia or any other exchange. That way if an exchange goes down you would still be able to retain most of your cryptos since you store them on your wallet locally.

But since now that your account has gotten locked, there isn't much you can do to protect your assets anymore.

Just gonna have to wait for the response and hopefully, they do respond to you.

I'm seeing a ton of cryptopia problems recently and it seems like your case isn't isolated. I'd say that either there is a hacker that is trying to brute force every single person's account and making them all locked as a result, or cryptopia is doing something shady here. Both options are equally likely.
2693  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODL Will Stand When All Else Falls! on: February 08, 2018, 08:39:52 AM
I feel that most of the old bitcointalk members have already mastered the Art of Holding. Aren't you? Yes, I am talking to you SR. Member and above! Smiley

It is no secret that bitcoin gone through hell since its inception but the firm believers who HODL became wealthy in a tremendous way.

Hope those short line of words eases the pain to all the members here who emotionally suffer the most with the current price downfall of bitcoin and hopefully will also be a venue for the crypto pro to give encouragement to other members to continue hodling on.

Holding for the long term is probably going to be extremely profitable, even after the price has gone on a multi-month hike last year. I personally believe that bitcoin is still going to outperform most asset classes in the coming years, including fiat of course.

It doesn't mean that you can't sell and buy later. If you feel like that there's a bubble, obviously the smart thing to do will be to sell your coins and buy back at a more reasonable price point, so that you can increase your bitcoin holdings.

And looking now, bitcoin's price is extremely reasonable for buyers. Would be a good time to get your bags filled up for the long term.
2694  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which exchanges are the easiest to get listed token on them? on: February 08, 2018, 08:25:02 AM
As I wrote in the topic: Do you have experience with some exchanges in order to put a token on them?
I need a list of about 3 exchanges on which the token can be placed in the fastest and easiest way.

HitBTC, Yobit, and Cryptopia.

All of these exchanges will guarantee that your token by listed on their site. With HitBTC they even have this promotion service if I remember correctly, but you'll have to pay a hefty amount for each of these sites to list your token.

I would actually discourage you to use any of the 3 to list your coin, even if they are pretty much the only ones that is paid to list. If your coin gets listed to yobit, then people will probably still trade on Etherdelta because there is just no trust for yobit. Cryptopia seems to be having trouble at the moment as well, and HitBTC is just unreliable in general.

Much rather just pay no fee and get it on Etherdelta, or get enough organic attention and get it listed on a bigger exchange such as bittrex/poloniex which can be hard. A third option would be having a community voting on c-cex, or nova. It should be free.
2695  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: where is my BCH on: February 08, 2018, 08:14:13 AM
before few weeks i transferred my BTC from one wallet (https://blockchain.info) to another company wallet

& now my new wallet company published a blog post that they will give BCH to only those user who had coins before 1 August

but i transferred my coins there in november
so do i have to contact https://blockchain.info for my BCH or i lost my BCH ?

Post your used addresses here and I'll have a look at them.

Of course, if you moved your coins after the fork then you ain't getting anything from your new wallet provider. 1st August was the date of the airdrop for bitcoin cash. If you didn't have money with them then there's no point expecting them to give them free money.

Get all your used addresses from blockchain.info, that had a balance close to or before August 1st. They should all have a sum of BCH in them. Claiming them is easy and there's a bunch of youtube vids out there specifying how to do that, but make sure you empty out every single mbtc from your blockchain.info wallet before you do it.
2696  Economy / Speculation / Re: Read this before you think to sell on: February 08, 2018, 08:03:33 AM
Here is an article that I believe will help you (for the ones who are new in the crypto world) make your head clear and think
it over. https://decentralize.today/dont-fall-for-the-hype-why-bitcoin-s-10-000-price-doesn-t-reflect-its-true-value-6b42a59fce0a

Bitcoin has overwhelmed so much, it is crazy to think that the 2018 is the end of Bitcoin. If you see the history of this coin you will realize
how much stable Bitcoin actually is.

I'd think that bitcoin is far from its ultimate peak value.

It's just that a lot of people are currently stuck in the small picture and not really caring about the long term. All they care about is short term profits, which is understandable. But this current price which is so low, is definitely not a good time to sell.

When bitcoin actually gets mass adopted all over the world, instead of it just being something of a speculative phenomenon that gets ambigious press coverage, then its intrinsic value will naturally appreciate.

To say that 2018 is the end of bitcoin is beyond dumb.
2697  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ON SALE, buy it now and HODL ! on: February 08, 2018, 07:57:09 AM
I really doubt that Chinese new year will have that big of an impact on the bitcoin's price.

But I think that you're right about the price rebound. It's going strong now and I can pretty much only see this current trend going even higher once all the bad news is flushed out of the system and people are confident in buying bitcoin again.

Potentially, this pump will take bitcoin back up to $10k+.

No point selling now because a) you're probably going to take a loss by doing so and b) bitcoin is most likely going to get way higher after this.
2698  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin up 40% from October 2017, there is no Crash or bubble!! on: February 07, 2018, 09:31:48 AM
I see many people are coming on this forum to try to deceive and manipulate peoples minds, the evil forces are trying to scare the weak people to loose their money.Bit coin is ok you just hold untill Christmas time 2018 and then you will see your surprise.Dont listen to FUD go watch TV or do something else if you are worried and always watching the price.

Only thing that has happened was that - bitcoin was hyped up, but it genuinely had a lot more adoption as well, which meant that price went through the roof and sort of becamea  speculative bubble. But now, it's returned to around where it should be at the moment.

We're definitely still up, A LOT. If you have bought just 2 years ago you'd still be in thousands of percent of profits.

No point denying that there was a crash though. But again, that is just a normal part of things and there is really no point in exaggerating things, which a lot of people are currently doing. You're not going to see bitcoin going up forever, without crashing. Not going to happen. Bitcoin is traded on markets and that's what markets do sometimes.
2699  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin CRASHES to $6K today as THE PROPHET warned in this forum on: February 07, 2018, 09:13:39 AM
Just search THE PROPHET

Weeks ago his alert was all over this forum

He said $5k was near when it was 13K

Today we hit $6K and now he is saying it will go to sub 1K

So the ride down is not over

https://kryptous.com/bitcoin-crashes-to-6k-as-the-prophet-warned/

Lmao. And here he is just casually promoting his own crypto ICO, and saying that it'll make huge profits when the entire alt and bitcoin markets are going downhill. His words even if they are legit are just plain guesses, thousands of people make these uneducated guesses to try to get publicity, and a few of them has to succeed sooner or later.

So really, I don't see anything special in this. Nor is the guy actually a prophet like he assigns himself the title of.

D oyour own research and see what works best for you as an investment strategy. But no, bitcoin isn't going to crash to $1k before it goes to $15 or even $20k. The lowest point I see in this bear market will be $3-4k, potentially a bit less, but we're not going to regress back to start of last year.
2700  Economy / Speculation / Re: TIME TO FORGET ABOUT HODL on: February 07, 2018, 09:04:24 AM
AND START PRACTICING BUYIGN !
To be honest, I can probably see some more dumps before a big recovery.

So for now, hold your coins. If bitcoin ever goes to around $6k or under again, buy some as soon as you have the chance to. These price levels were pretty much dreamed about back when bitcoin was getting pumped hard.

Also, if you do buy at $6k or less, make sure that you're looking at a long term investment. There may not be big pumps for a long time to come, but when it comes, and you're holding your coins, you'll make a huge profit for sure.
